  • Efficient splitting of elements in a field

    I have a field in a text file exported from a database. The field contains addresses but sometimes they are quite long and the database allows them to contain multiple lines. When exported, the newline character gets replaced with a dollar sign like this: first part of very long address$second part of very long address$third part of very long address Not every address has multiple lines and no address contains more than three lines. The length of each line is variable. I'm massaging the data for import into MS Access which is used for a mailmerge. I want to split the field on the $ sign if it's there but if the field only contains 1 line, I want to set my two extra output fields to a zero length string so that I don't wind up with blank lines in the address when it gets printed. I have an awk file that's working correctly on all the other data in the textfile but I need to get this last bit working. I tried the below code. Aside from the fact that I get a syntax error at the else, I'm not sure this is a good way to do what I want. This is being done with gawk on Windows. I need a way to find quotes in my data (quotes aren't there every time) and place a "/" character in front of them. Example response text (wrong): {"rows":[{"id":"ABC123","length":"5""}, {"id":"DEF456","length":"1.35""}, {"id":"HIJ789","length":"36.25""}]} I would need to escape the " so my response should be: {"rows":[{"id":"ABC123","length":"5\""}, {"id":"DEF456","length":"1.35\""}, {"id":"HIJ789","length":"36.25\""}]} Also, I'm pretty new to C# (coding in general really) so if something else in my code looks silly let me know.

    Using V3 of the google maps API, is there any reliable way to format addresses with the line break? However, when run together as shown above, Oracle gives me an error when it starts the second statement: Error report: ORA-06550: line 15, column 1: PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol "BEGIN" 06550. 00000 - "line %s, column %s:\n%s" *Cause: Usually a PL/SQL compilation error. *Action: I'm assuming that this means the first statement is not terminated properly... is there anything I should put inbetween the statements to make it work properly?     I have some code that processes fixed length data records. I've defined the record structures using java enums. I've boiled it down the the simplest example possible to illustrate the hoops that I currently have to jump through to get access to a static variable inside the enum. Is there a better way to get at this variable that I'm overlooking? If you compile and run the code, it just prints out "3". The problem is i get only contacts i created myself using no syncAdapter. I used facebook app to synch my facebook contacts, but this query doesn't return them. I extracted the contacts2.db from the emulator and the view_contacts view shows me all the contacts, so the DB is updated. What should i do to get all the contacts regardless of how they were created (with which synch adapter)

Using var_dump(get_defined_vars()); I'm able to see that the dimensions are being outputted independently, but can't seem to get them to print. on the page. I want certain dynamic fields in my table to line up but they're changing width constantly. EDIT: What I mean is this: in any text editor I can press tab to align certain bits of text, and not care about how many spaces there are. In fact, the number of spaces there needs to be for the leftmost part of the text can change, and I still won't care, as long as the text lines up. How do I do this is in HTML?

Right now, my script run through a for loop echoing each value to the standard output: for value in ${values[@]} do echo $value done Yeah, that's pretty ugly! And the one column listing is pretty long too... I was wondering if i can find a command or builtin helping me to display all those values in columns, like the ls command does by default when listing a directory (ls -C). Some movies or episodes, such as those from Netflix and Amazon.com’s Video on Demand, will require viewers to have a membership, or pay a fee to access content. There is also a Clicker.tv app for Boxee.   Navigation Navigating in Clicker.tv is rather easy with your keyboard. Directional Keys: navigate up, down, left, and right. Enter: make a selection Backspace: return to previous screen Escape: return to the Clicker.tv home screen. Note: You can also navigate through Clicker.tv with your PC remote. Recommended Browsers Firefox 3.6 + Safari 4.0 + Internet Explorer 8 + Google Chrome Note: You’ll need the latest version of Flash installed to play the majority of content. Earlier versions of the above browsers may work, but for full keyboard functionality, stick with the recommendations. Typical remotes won’t work completely in all external websites. So, you’ll still need a keyboard to be able to perform some operations such as switching to full screen mode. The Boxee app offers a more fully remote friendly environment, but unfortunately lacks a good portion of the Clicker.tv content. As with many content sites, availability of certain programming may be limited by your geographic location. Want to add Clicker.TV functionality to Windows Media Center? You can do so through the Boxee Integration for Windows 7 Media Center plug-in.
