SFTP - Unable to Overwrite File - "EOF received from remote side"

I am working with a customer to troubleshoot an error they have when trying to overwrite/"PUT" a file to our SFTP site. When the root directory is empty and they try to upload the file there is no problem but when they try to overwrite an existing file this is when the error occurs. The error they receive when trying a put command in Java Caps is: The error is: Batch SFTP eWay error when doing data transfer operation in [PUT()], message=[EOF received from remote side [Unknown cause]].|#] When they use WinSCP or FileZilla to put the file it overwrites fine with no errors. We have tried: Multiple different files Checking their SFTP user permissions Gave full access permissions to "everyone" to the user's root directory in Windows Recreating their user account Ensured no other processes are using/locking the files that are being overwriten We are using Cerberus Professional FTP server software. Any ideas of what else we could try?

LED Monitor brightness

I am in the market for a new monitor. I've been looking around and it seems that the general brightness for monitors is between 250-320 cd/m2. After hours of searching, I narrowed it down to the LG W2453V-PF vs. the LG E2350V-SN The W2453V-PF is not LED backlit yet it has a brightness level of 310 cd/m2 and a response time of 2ms. The E2350V-SN, on the other hand, has a brightness level of 250 cd/m2 and a response time of 5ms but it is LED backlit. My questions are, looking at these overall specs: Which monitor is better? What makes LED backlight better? Is the LED backlight worth the decreased brightness level? Thanks! p.s. if you have any other comparable monitor suggestions (that are not samsung - I read their customer service is absolutely terrible), feel free to share. thanks!

We are at the verge of a mail server decision. We do currently use 2 mail servers : MDaemon 10 and Exchange 2003. We are planning to use a company and customer wide one point solution. Our main candidates are MDaemon 11 and Exchange 2007 or 2010. We would like to learn other users experiences on those solutions. The server-side experiences, the user-side experiences, feature set, TCO, support options etc. And if there were other solutions (like MDaemon 11 + Exchange or anything else) what would you suggest ?

Here is simple example I've created after reading several topics about jpa bulk inserts, I have 2 persistent objects User, and Site. One user could have many site, so we have one to many relations here. Suppose I want to create user and create/link several sites to user account. Here is how code looks like, considering my willing to use bulk insert for Site objects. User user = new User("John Doe"); user.getSites().add(new Site("google.com", user)); user.getSites().add(new Site("yahoo.com", user)); EntityTransaction tx = entityManager.getTransaction(); tx.begin(); entityManager.persist(user); tx.commit(); But when I run this code (I'm using hibernate as jpa implementation provider) I see following sql output: Hibernate: insert into User (id, name) values (null, ?) Hibernate: call identity() Hibernate: insert into Site (id, url, user_id) values (null, ?, ?) Hibernate: call identity() Hibernate: insert into Site (id, url, user_id) values (null, ?, ?) Hibernate: call identity() So, I means "real" bulk insert not works or I am confused? What algorithms do "the big ones" use to cluster news?

I want to cluster texts for a news website. At the moment I use this algorithm to find the related articles. But I found out that PHP's similar_text() gives very good results, too. What sort of algorithms do "the big ones", Google News, Topix, Techmeme, Wikio, Megite etc., use? Of course, you don't know exactly how the algorithms work. It's secret. But maybe someone knows approximately the way they work? The algorithm I use at the moment is very slow. It only compares two articles. So for having the relations between 5,000 articles you need about 12,500,000 comparisons. This is quite a lot. Are there alternatives to reduce the number of necessary comparisons? [I don't look for improvements for my algorithm.] What do "the big ones" do? I'm sure they don't always compare one article to another and this 12,500,000 times for 5,000 news. It would be great if somebody can say something about this topic.

Distinction between Cloud Servers and VPS

What is the distinction between a Cloud based host and a VPS? I talked to a Rackspace Cloud sales person for around 45 minutes and never came to a real conclusion on this. So, to elaborate on my question a bit -- what benefits might a "cloud" server provide me versus a VPS provider such as Linode and vice versa -- what benefits would a VPS provide over a cloud provider? From what I've been able to ascertain, when you host on a cloud (with Rackspace Cloud) you get a instance of Linux in which you install software and such (a LAMP, for instance). From what I can figure, if the instance is running, I am charged and the pricing on Rackspace (according to what I understood from the sales rep) comes out to about $20 a month.... I was thinking a cloud customer pays per processing hours -- so if your app just sits there, no charges are incurred. Does one not pay of the cloud instance is shut down, perhaps? Hello, I'm trying to write a force-directed or force-atlas code base for a graphing application I'm building for myself. I've converted this into ActionScript 3.0 code since it's a Flash application. Linux DNS Multi tenant

I need to setup a multi-tenant DNS solution in Linux DNS Server. Currently I serve multiple companies: Company ABC, Company XYZ, etc... I need to create a) Forwarder zone b) Reverse Forward Zone. I can easily create a Forward Zone with domain abc.com The challenge I have is that each of my customer components share the same IP address. Hence If I create the Reverse Forward Zone I end up with something like this: abc.com 1.1.1.1 host.abc.com xyz.com 1.1.1.1 host.xyz.com If I perform a reverse lookup on host.abc.com it works fine...but if I do a reverse lookup on 1.1.1.1 I get a load balance response of: attempt: host.abc.com attempt: host.xyz.com attempt: host.abc.com Any ideas? I want to add logic to the DNS configuration to handle DNS reverse lookup based on source machine and respond with right hostname. Workaround: Create multiple DNS but this is not scalable.

Parallel prologue and epilogue in Grid Engine

We have a cluster being used to run MPI jobs for a customer. Previously this cluster used Torque as the scheduler, but we are transitioning to Grid Engine 6.2u5 (for some other features). Unfortunately, we are having trouble duplicating some of our maintenance scripts in the Grid Engine environment. In Torque, we have a prologue.parallel script which is used to carry out an automated health-check on the node. If this script returns a fail condition, Torque will helpfully offline the node and re-queue the job to use a different group of nodes. In Grid Engine, however, the queue "prolog" only runs on the head node of the job. We can manually run our prologue script from the startmpi.sh initialization script, for the mpi parallel environment; but I can't figure out how to detect a fail condition and carry out the same "mark offline and requeue" procedure. Any suggestions?

Using the Juniper EX3300 Switch as a router?

I have a Juniper EX3300 switch in a data center. And I have connected one of the uplink ports (ge-0/1/0) to my ISP's router. I want to configure it so that all the devices connected to ports in the same VLAN as ge-0/1/0 can access the Internet. I have done some research, and I haven't gotten anywhere really. I have configured the interface as follows: ge-0/1/0 { ether-options { no-auto-negotiation; link-mode full-duplex; speed { 1g; } } unit 0 { family inet { address xx.xx.xx.xx/32; } } } where xx.xx.xx.xx is the "Customer Router Port IP" assigned by my ISP. When I try to commit, I get the following error: Interface ge-0/1/0.0 not enabled for switching Can some one tell me what is the right way to configure it?

CHMOD To Prevent Deletion Of File Directory

I have some hosting on a Linux server and I have a few folders that I don't ever want to delete. There are sub folders within these that I do want to delete. How do I set the CHMOD permissions on the folders I don't want to delete? Of course, when I say "I don't ever want to delete" - what I mean is that the end customer shouldn't delete them by accident, via FTP or in a PHP script etc. As an example of directory structure... MainFolder/SubFolder MainFolder/Another I don't want "MainFolder" to be accidentally deleted, but I'm happy for "SubFolder" and "Another" to be removed!

Django Admin: OneToOne Relation as an Inline?

I am putting together the admin for a satchmo application. Satchmo uses OneToOne relations to extend the base Product model, and I'd like to edit it all on one page. It is possible to have a OneToOne relation as an Inline? If not, what is the best way to add a few fields to a given page of my admin that will eventually be saved into the OneToOne relation? for example: class Product(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=100) ... class MyProduct(models.Model): product = models.OneToOne(Product) ... I tried this for my admin but it does not work, and seems to expect a Foreign Key: class ProductInline(admin.StackedInline): model = Product fields = ('name',) class MyProductAdmin(admin.ModelAdmin): inlines = (AlbumProductInline,) admin.site.register(MyProduct, MyProductAdmin) Which throws this error: <class 'satchmo.product.models.Product'> has no ForeignKey to <class 'my_app.models.MyProduct'> Is the only way to do this a Custom Form? edit: Just tried the following code to add the fields directly... also does not work: class AlbumAdmin(admin.ModelAdmin): fields = ('product__name',)

Rails Fixtures Don't Seem to Support Transitive Associations

So I've got 3 models in my app, connected by HABTM relations: class Member < ActiveRecord::Base has_and_belongs_to_many :groups end class Group < ActiveRecord::Base has_and_belongs_to_many :software_instances end class SoftwareInstance < ActiveRecord::Base end And I have the appropriate join tables, and use foxy fixtures to load them: -- members.yml -- rick: name: Rick groups: cals -- groups.yml -- cals: name: CALS software_instances: delphi -- software_instances.yml -- delphi: name: No, this is not a joke, someone in our group is still maintaining Delphi apps... And I do a rake db:fixtures:load, and examine the tables. Yep, the join tables groups_members and groups_software_instances have appropriate IDs in, big numbers generated by hashing the fixture names. Yay! And if I run script/console, I can look at rick's groups and see that cals is in there, or cals's software_instances and delphi shows up. (Likewise delphi knows that it's in the group cals.) Yay! But if I look at rick.groups[0].software_instances...nada. []. And, oddly enough, rick.groups[0].id is something like 30 or 10, not 398398439. I've tried swapping around where the association is defined in the fixtures, e.g. -- members.yml -- rick name: rick -- groups.yml -- cals name: CALS members: rick No error, but same result. (Later: Confirmed, same behavior on MySQL. In fact I get the same thing if I take the foxification out and use ERB to directly create the join tables, so: -- license_groups_software_instances -- cals_delphi: group_id: <%= Fixtures.identify 'cals' % software_instance_id: <%= Fixtures.identify 'delphi' $ Before I chuck it all, reject foxy fixtures and all who sail in her and just hand-code IDs...anybody got a suggestion as to why this is happening? I'm currently working in Rails 2.3.2 with sqlite3, this occurs on both OS X and Ubuntu (and I think with MySQL too). TIA, my compadres.

Token replacement

Hey, I currently have a system on my website whereby I can put something like "[cfe]" anywhere in the site and, when the page is rendered, it will replace it with the root to the customer front end (same for "[afe]" and admin front end - so in the admin front end I can put "[cfe]/Default.aspx" to link to the homepage on the customer front end. This is in place as I have a development version of the site, then a test and a live version too. All 3 may have different roots to each section (for example the way the website is set up, the root to the admin front end in test is "/test/Administration/", but in live and development it is just "/Administration/"). Which version it is depends on the URL - all my development sites are in a folder called "development", whereas test is in a folder called "test" and any live urls do not contain either of these. There are also 3 different databases - one for each. All 3, obviously, require a different connection string. I also have a string replacement function in place which can change, for example, "[Product:Cards]" to point to the Cards catalogue page. Problem is that for this I go through all the products and do a replacement on "[Product:" & Product.Name() & "]". However I would like to take this further. I would like to pick up these custom strings when the page is rendered so it picks up "[Product:Cards]" and then goes off to find product "Cards" and replaces the string with a link to the Cards page, rather than looping through all the products and doing a replace just on the off chance that there are any replacements to make. One use for this, which I may start using in the future if I can figure out how to do this, is like on Wikipedia where you put the title of the page you want to point to, then a divider (think its a pipe from memory) then the link text. I would like to apply this to the above situation. This way broken links can also be picked up, and reported to admin (a major advantage as they can then locate them and remove the link or add the product / page that it refers to). I would like to take this to the stage where content of entire pages can be rearranged (kinda like web parts, but not as advanced as that). I mean like so you can put [layout type="3columnImageTopRight" image="imageurl"]Content here[/layout]. This will display, as specified, an image in the top right (with padding at the left and bottom) and 3 columns - maybe with the image spanning one or two columns). The imageurl can be specified as another token: maybe like [Image:imagename.gif] or something. This replaces it with the root to the image folder and then the specified filename. I have not really looked into how I am going to split the content into 3 columns yet, but this would be something to look at for my dissertation and then implement after my project deadline at least. Does anyone have any ideas or pointers which could help me with this? Also if this is not strictly token replacement then please point me to what it is, so I can further develop this. OJB Reference Descriptor 1:0 relationship? Should I set auto-retrieve to false?

Hi, I am having an issue while using Apache OJB with Spring 2 inside my web app. I'm using OJB reference-descriptor with 2 foreign key properties. I have an object A (parent) and object B (referenced object). The thing is, for an object A, there may or may not be an object B. In the case where there is no object B to go with Object A, the object B seems to be instantiated (through Spring?) anyways. However, I am unable to access object B's members. Whenever I test if Object B == null, it always returns false even though there is no matching value in the database. Since this Object is never null, I figured I can test the object's member like so: if( objectb.getDocumentNumber == null) { return false; } However, I get an exception in the jsp: javax.servlet.jsp.el.ELException: An error occurred while getting property "documentNumber" from an instance class org.sample.pojo.Objectb$$EnhancerByCGLIB$$78022a2 and this exception in the debugger when it's creating the objectB: com.sun.jdi.InvocationException occurred invoking method. I am guessing that the reference-descriptor must be a 1:1+ relationship, instead of a 1:0+ relationship. I was wondering if I should set the property 'auto-retrieve' to false, and then use the PersistenceBroker.retrieveAllReferences(Object obj); method as directed. However, this method's return value is 'void', so I am guessing that Spring somehow creates, and sets the reference class for me. (Returning me back to the same issue I'm having.) I will need a way to test whether the reference object exists first. If not, don't call this retrieveAllReferences method, but I don't see how. Am I going about this all wrong? Does reference-descriptor not allow 1:0 relations? Any work around to my problem? Your suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Using dispatchertimer in combination with an asynchroneous call

Hi. We have an issue in our Silverlight application which uses WCF and Entity Framework, where we need to trap the event whenever a user shuts down the application by closing the web page or the browser instead of closing the silverlight application. This is in order to verify if any changes have been made, in which case we would ask the user if he wants to save before leaving. We were able to accomplish the part which consists in trapping the closing of the web page: we wrote some code in the application object that have the web page call a method in the silverlight application object. The problem starts when in this method, we do an asynchroneous call to the Web Service to verify if changes have occured (IsDirty). We are using a DispatcherTimer to check for the return of the asynchroneous call. The problem is that the asynchroneous call never completes (in debug mode, it never ends up stepping into the _BfrServ_Customer_IsDirtyCompleted method), while it used to work fine before we added this new functionality. You will find belowthe code we are using. I am new to writing timers in combination with asynchroneous call so I may be doing something wrong but I cannot figure out what. Hibernate "JOIN ... ON"?

I have an application that uses Hibernate for its domain objects. One part of the app is common between a few apps, and it has no knowledge of the other systems. In order to handle relations, our class looks like this: @Entity public class SystemEvent { @Id @GeneratedValue public int entity_id; @Column(name="event_type") public String eventType; @Column(name="related_id") public int relatedObjectId; } relatedObjectId holds a foreign key to one of several different objects, depending on the type of event. When a system wants to know about events that are relevant to its interests, it grabs all the system events with eventType "NewAccounts" or some such thing, and it knows that all of those relatedObjectIds are IDs to a "User" object or similar. Unfortunately, this has caused a problem down the line. I can't figure out a way to tell Hibernate about this mapping, which means that HQL queries can't do joins. I'd really like to create an HQL query that looks like this: SELECT users FROM SystemEvent event join Users newUsers where event.eventType = 'SignUp' However, Hibernate has no knowledge of the relationship between SystemEvent and Users, and as far as I can tell, there's no way to tell it. So here's my question: Is there any way to tell Hibernate about a relationship when your domain objects reference each other via ID numbers and not class references?

Manage Upload Permissions, SFTP & Linux

I'm new to Linux. I am working with a Redhat 5.5 server and am using a Java-based SFTP script that will allow multiple users to upload text files to a server. I am undecided if each user will have a separate directory or if I will use a naming convention that includes their customer ID. The files include some personal information about their LAN settings, so I prefer to use SFTP as apposed to FTP. It is my understanding that SFTP is encrypted (Also, I have a Java class configured to upload via SFTP, so I prefer not to switch protocols unless their is a very-good reason). The prototype is for a system that will support large numbers of customers and the thought of continually adding and removing clients through the command line seems highly impractical. (Again, I am new_to/learning Linux and Redhat). What are normal conventions for giving multiple users permission to SFTP upload files with a unique username and password for each.

Wildcard SSL certificates, EV

I run a Magento e-commerce store with multiple subdomains for an affiliate program, plus a main store. Example, foo.example.com and bar.example.com are affiliates, www.example.com is my main store. They all share the same code and database and the same virtual host. Currently I have a wildcard certificate which works fine for everything. However, I was looking at EV certificates to increase customer confidence (which is not possible with wildcard certificates -- or so I'm told). What would be the simplest setup to have both an EV SSL Cert for the main store and a wildcard for the affiliate subdomains? Two virtual hosts? By the way, I'm running Litespeed as a webserver.

Why does Amazon release private keys instead of public keys?

My brain is wrapped around the axle on public and private keys. When you create a cloud server (instance) on Amazon's EC2 service and then want to connect to it via SSH, Amazon requires you to download private a key to make the connection. Doesn't the idea behind public/private key suggest that Amazon should be require you to download a public one? Further, if I set up an SFTP server for a customer to use, should I be installing their key on the server or giving them a key from the server? In either case, should it be a public or private key?

IIS7 rejecting POST requests with 400 error.

I have a web application that is supposed to handle post requests from SAP. This has been working fine at other customers with win2k3 systems (IIS6) and win2k8 (IIS7) systems. However, on this specific customer's site, IIS responds with a 400 response, without calling my aspx page. In fact, I don't even see it appear in the w3c log for the virtual directory. I do see the request using Network Monitor, so I know no firewalls and the like are eating the request, and as far as I can tell, all of the fields of the request are valid (there is "content-length", it looks correct (this is a sending of a 28K tiff file - which isn't MIME encoded, curiously enough now that I think of it...) Ideas?

Migrating RAID6 array from HP SmartArray P600 to LSI MegaRAID SAS 8888ELP

My customer has an external RAID6 array (8x 1TB in HP MSA60 enclosure) attached to HP SmartArray P600 controller. They have now decided to replace the server and the new one comes with LSI MegaRAID SAS 8888ELP. The HW supplier insists the migration is as simple as pulling the eSATA cable from P600 and inserting it into LSI but I'm not convinced. Unfortunately I have nowhere to test, and will have to do the exercise on the production array :( So the question in brief - is it possible to import the HP SmartArray P600-created RAID6 array to LSI MegaRAID 8888ELP?
