• How to make proxy on nginx?

  How would I set my webservers to work in way described below? Http request: mypublic.com --- handled normally by nginx as it is set up already (listen 80;) Http request: myprivate.com --- handled by apache set up to work on 8080 (listen 8080) I'd like to avoid including ports when typing address in browser, some kind of mockup (proxy?). • Removing English - United States Language from Firefox Issue...

  Win7 Home Prem 32bit Firefox 3.6.2 I noticed whilst typing a hotmail email in Firefox that the default language seems to be English/United States. As i am from the UK i thought i would add in the English/United Kingdom dictionary Addon which i have done. I have set this as the default Language. Is there anyway to remove the English/United States Dictionary? It is not an Addon so i'm guessing it's the built in Firefox default language and may be unremovable?

• Cannot Install JDK

  For the life of me, I can't install the JDK on Windows Vista. I keep getting the error, "This Software Has Already Been Installed on Your Computer. Would you like to reinstall it?" Problem is, it's evidently not on my computer, since I can't a) run Eclipse - I get "Could Not Find Java SE Runtime Environment" or b) Find any reference to Java from the command line when typing java -version - I get "Error opening registry key 'Registry/JavaSoft/Java Runtime Environment." Any ideas?

  I'm trying to connect to Cisco IPSEC VPN of my company over DSL Internet. I managed to successfully connect using Cisco VPN Client, now I'm trying to switch to OSX 10.6 native client, because of licensing issues. • Ubuntu, trouble getting back from lock screen

  My problem is that after being idle for a while, the screen is locked and after this happened I get a black screen from which I can't get rid of. I mean after black screen comes, typing and moving mouse does not bring any new screen, and even alt+ctrl+F1 to F7 changes nothing. All I can do is to restart the system. Can anybody help me with this?

• Python RSS Feeder + Jquery RSS Reader

  I'm trying to implement an RSS Feeder in python using PyRSS2Gen and it created an XML file. Now in jQuery I'm using Google Ajax API's RSS reader and trying to read it. I get an error saying something is wrong. I'm unable to figure out the issue. I've checked some documentation but not able to get it. • Windows minimizing automatically.

  My computer (running xp sp3) keeps minimizing windows or deselecting them automatically. It's so bad that I can't do anything before the windows close. (typing this on my phone) and no, I'm not prssing alt tab, I'm not touching anything when it happens. Had anybody else had this problem? And if so how did you fix it? Please help my pc is completely unusable because of this.

• Windows explorer doesn't open My Documents, Music or anything when clicking the library?

  I recently installed Windows 7, and for some reason my Libraries don't open to My Documents, Music and so on.. I can access my files by typing into the explorers address bar, but clicking anything doesn't do anything, it just stays on the same screen. What's wrong? Since this is occurring on a relatively new install, I currently have 259GB free out of 297GB on my HD. The My Documents folder only has about 500 mb of Data.

• Which keymap to use for wired mac keyboard in Gentoo Linux?

  I just purchase the new wired mac keyboard: Running on Gentoo Linux it works mostly fine. The only problem i am having is the function keys and swapping the alt and command keys to resemble a regular pc keyboard. When I tried switching to the "mac-us" keymap in /etc/conf.d/keymaps I got garbage when typing (not even qwerty). Is there any specific keymap that I can use to get what I want?

The print server and the users` computers are members of Active Directory. In AD, only computers have accounts, users are using local accounts. Is it possible to configure Windows 7 so that it doesn't ask for login and password when a user tries to access it from computer which is member of domain?

• GEDIT problem on Windows

  Every once in a while (5 minutes or so), gedit interrupts my typing with a little "This file has changed on disk" message and asks me if I'd like to reload it. I know that the file isn't being changed. It's located on a local disk only I am editing it if I click "reload" on the dialog, there is no visible change in the file This doesn't happen in other text editors like Emacs or EditPlus. Does anyone know what the problem is and/or how to fix it?

  Hello, I have Ubuntu Lucid Lynx installed, Using Gnome 2.30.0 I'm using a Laptop, HP Pavilion dv9000 I've stumbled on responsiveness issues with my keyboard, Sometimes it's really obvious - the keyboard doesn't respond fast enough to my typing. Checked sticky keys and all that, it's all disabled of course. Now, I also checked on Windows to see if the problem is Hardware or something, and there are no responsiveness issues there... I'm thinking it's Gnome (or the X). Thanks.

• Chrome on Windows: is there a keyboard shortcut to that brings up the contextual menu?

  When typing in a text area in Chrome (e.g. in Gmail), I constantly have to reach the mouse to get spelling suggestions for a word that underlined in red, or to add a word to the dictionary. Is there a keyboard shortcut that would show the contextual menu in that case, so you don't have to use the mouse to pick a suggestion or add a word to the dictionary?

• On a Mac, how do you start TextEdit or TextMate from a shell? (bash)

  I tried and the only way seemed like typing in /Applications/TextEdit.app/Contents/MacOS/TextEdit in a bash shell. But even when I close the application, it is not considered an exit. I need to go to the app icon on the dock and click "Quit" so that it will exit. Any other way to invoke and exit it? thanks.

• Why does my computer beep when i type <shift>-DE quickly?

  I'm writing a report on developing EJBs in Jdeveloper and every time i type "IDE" my laptop beeps twice in quick succesion. Actually, whilst typing this I've worked out that any combination of shift plus two adjacent keys, one from the row that starts qwerty and one from the row that starts asdfg will beep. It's really quite annoying. It's a hp laptop. Anyone know how I can make it stop?

• No outbound connections for apache2

  I'm unable to hit my server from a browser on another machine (it gives a 'connection has timed out' error), although typing http://localhost or http://my-ip-here works from the browser within the machine. I can ping and ssh into the server from other machines; it just seems like apache is rejecting the port-80 browser connections. What can I do to further diagnose/fix this problem? • Launch remote NX sessions using metacity while local sessions use compiz?

  I'm using gnome with compiz (gtk-window-decorator) on Arch Linux for my desktop. I installed FreeNX from the repo, but when I connect remotely it does not render any window decorations. I can make the window decorations appear and function as normal by opening a command prompt and typing: metacity --replace I'm fine with using metacity for remote sessions, but I want gtk-window-decorator when using the machine locally. Is it possible to make it run metacity for FreeNX sessions and gtk-window-decorator for local sessions?

This works fine when typing the adress like this: www.domain.com or my_ip/ Problem is, I have Solr, which admin interface is on port 8983, so this: www.domain.com:8983/ does not require authorization. • I've set an editor as default, how do I call it to open files in a shell?

  EDIT I thought of a better way to phrase the question. How can I find the alias that Ubuntu is using for a different text editor? Rather than using nano by typing nano file.txt, i'd like to be able to type sublime file.txt to open sublime editor. I don't know where to look to find these aliases. sudo update-alternatives --config editor does not show it as a choice, I only see the 'default' editors, like Nano and vim.tiny.

  I'm right now busy with moving the first steps into Linux, i'm using a bash shell within a mac osx I see in all tutorials that in order to launch an application from the bash its necessary to cd to its directory and simply type the name of the app. This is exatly what i'm doing and it does not work (i have on my desktop a 'Eclipse' folder with the launcher icon in it): cd Desktop cd Eclipse Eclipse.app Why will this not work? I read everywhere that typing the name of the app its enough
