  • How do I convert Windows 7 file-name encoding to UTF-8 for Ruby on Rails?

    Hi (Ive looked at the other questions - none seemed to quite fit my problem.) I have some file-names under Windows 7 that need to be translated in to MySQL database (UTF-8) with Ruby on Rails. An example file-name includes "íéó" in some kind of Windows 7 file-system encoding. Ive tried many combinations of gsub and ActiveSupport::Multibyte::Chars. Thanks for the help

  • Using PHP, how to parse the title and meta tags from a HTML page?

    Hey guys, I need to be able to get the TITLE and DESCIPTION metadata out of a page. I've been trying to do this but I've been getting more errors than actual results. (I have an array of about 10 URLS, usually only about 2 of them give me the descrption. I have yet to get the title). So how do I, in PHP, get the Desc and Title from a remote page, and if there is none or if there's an error, ignore it? -Dylan

  • VS2008 Smart Device Class Library Project Template

    I was trying to create a new Class Library project targeted for the .NET Compact Framework. However, when I select "New project - Smart Device" I only have the Smart Device Project template. I've checked the folder: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\ProjectTemplates\CSharp\SmartDevice\1033 It contains several project templates: SmartDeviceClassLibrary SmartDeviceConsoleApplication SmartDeviceEmptyProject SmartDeviceWindowsApplication SmartDeviceWindowsControlLibrary None of those are shown on my IDE. How can I use one of those project templates?

  • Customly chromed Windows in wpf

    I've tried creating a customly chromed window in wpf using WindowStyle None, and AllowsTransparency True, however, when I maximize the window it covers the entire screen (and goes beond it's edges, it also hides the Windows-bar at the bottom of my screen, just like a game in fullscreen). How can I make the behaviour like a normal window, but with my own customly made wpf-chrome?

    I am trying to set up a new GitHub account as part of learning ruby on rails. My OS is windows. I am having the following problem while trying to add my public key to the GitHub SSH public keys. When I put the key in the text area, supply a name, and click 'Add Key', I am taken to the Job profile page without any confirmation that the key has been added.(I am using SSH client GUI to generate RSA keys). When I come back to the SSH public keys page, I see that the key is not there. I tried this multiple times...without any result.     I want to have developers write some custom apps for a site in Javascript but I want to sandbox it so they can't do anything naughty like redirect the user, set the body display to none etc etc. I have a namespace in Javascript where all the functions they'll ever need exist in there so I was thinking to create a sandbox would be a matter of: with(Namespace) { //App code goes here where they can only access Namespace.* } How is easy is it to get around this and what other methods can be done? Would rather not have to moderate every submitted app.

I'm not sure where the error starts, it's just a huge wall of text when executing sudo python setup.py install. But the last few lines are: ... collect2: ld returned 1 exit status lipo: can't open input file: /var/tmp//ccNKvQpP.out (No such file or directory) error: command 'gcc' failed with exit status 1 I've googled, but none of the results are working.

    While the answers might not be the best or the question really doesn't have an answer, if none are upvoted or the person doesn't accept an answer, they sit and sit in the unanswered page. In cases which do have realistic answers, I've been voting up the best. Even if I combine the best answers into a better one, the questioners aren't upvoting, accepting or closing the questions anyway.

  • pdflatex document to html

    I need to convert a bunch of pdflatex only documents (because of graphics-- .pdf's jpgs & pngs) to html. tex4ht is giving a bunch of garbage output. the documents are built using the \input command. Is there anything I can do to help tex4ht with a pdflatex document? I've looked at many converters (pandoc, hevea, tth, latex2rtf) but none of them can include my figures well. Is tex4ht my best bet?

I've fooled with Google Notebook, MS Onenote, TreePad, textfiles, and Evernote a bit (currently leaning toward Evernote). All have pros and cons but none seem to be really suited to developers. Is anyone super-happy with a collection / note system that's not just generic GTD, but with developer-centric utility?

  • UITableViewCell checkmark change on select

    Am I correct in thinking that to change the checkmark for "on" to "off", I must change the CellAccessoryType between none and checkmark on the didSelectRowAtIndexPath? Because I have done this but I have noticed the behaviour is not perfectly identical to like the checkmark cells on the auto lock settings on the iphone. Or is there some other way checkmarks are meant to be handled?
