  • How to make WPF app work as a child process in Citrix

    I am working on a 3rd party application that allows plugins to be written in .NET 1.1. I have decided I would like to write my plugin in a seperate process that is called from the .NET 1.1 application (achieved using Process.Start). This is fine- I create a new process that is a WPF app. When I launch this through MSTSC everything works as expected, however when I run the app through Citrix, the WPF child app fails to render correctly, and the mouse position starts going crazy- the child process window is basically not usable. Is there a way to avoid this happening? If I create a seperate WPF application and deploy this through Citrix everything works fine. If I create a child Windows forms app in .NET 3.5, that also works fine.

  • Computer generated files - how do they work ?

    Hello, .... ‹BÿЃÀ‰D$Ç„$  ....... that's what happens when you open (notepad) such a file that I'm talking about How do algorithms decode that information and when does a program use/generate it ? Does some notepad-like application exist that open such files and transform them to readable code/data ? Any more information which will clarify about these files will be very helpful.     From the Wowhead Terms of Service: "Intellectual Property Rights The Service and any necessary software used in connection with the Service ("Software") contain proprietary and confidential information that is protected by applicable intellectual property and other laws. You agree not to modify, rent, lease, loan, sell, distribute or create derivative works based on the Service or the Software, in whole or in part." Does this mean that I can't write a program to consume a web service being published by the writers of this TOS? I find it kind of scary that I even have to ask this question. The wikipedia article on "derivative works" isn't very conclusive.

  • Trying to make my leaflet map work on internet explorer

    I have been tearing my hair out of late trying to get my web map working on internet explorer. It's working flawlessly on every other major browser but none of the content will load in IE. Anyone out there who's good at browser testing that could help out? I know the leaflet javascript api, which I'm using for this project, supports IE in theory. In practice this isn't working out too well...   • How Does Differential Execution Work?

    I've seen a few mentions of this on SO, but staring at Wikipedia and at an MFC dynamic dialog demo did nothing to enlighten me. Can someone please explain this? Learning a fundamentally different concept sounds nice. Edit: I think I'm getting a better feel for it. I guess I just didn't look at the source code carefully enough the first time. I have mixed feelings about DE at this point. On the one hand, it can make certain tasks considerably easier. On the other hand, getting it up and running (i.e. setting it up in your language of choice) is not easy (I'm sure it would be if I understood it better)...though I guess the toolbox for it need only be made once, then expanded as necessary. I think in order to really understand it, I'll probably need to try implimenting it in another language.

  • Creating a simple wcf service publishing it to my webhotel, and get it to work

    Hi, This seems to be a recurring problem to me. I want to get started doing wcf services. I create a new Wcf Service Library, compile it, and publish it using FTP to my providers webhotel. But its not working. I somehow cant get access. I dont want some fancy security model - i just want to get a hole through to my simple webservice. Seems that its the part when i publish it to my webhotel (in a subdomain) that breaks the webservice - its working perfectly when starting it locally. How to proceed anyone?

    Hi All, In my Asp.Net project I wanna use Property Auto-wiring, e.g. for my ILogger. Basically I placed Property into my base classes. One for Page, one for UserControl. I checked the container and it'a definitely set.     Hi, I wonder is anyone can look at this code and tell me why calling the removeSelectedChild works when called from the same document, but returns the following error when called from the child document/component. Sorry that the example is a little contrived, this problem arose in a quite complicated view, which was using all kinds of custom components. This was the only way I could display it in a way that will be quick for you to compile and easy to focus on the real issue without background noise.   • SQL Server mirroring connection doesnt work

    I have 2 servers srv-erp1 and srv-erp3. I made them mirror on each other. All setup is done by lots of tutorials and examples. But when I call ALTER DATABASE MIRROR_TEST SET PARTNER = 'TCP://srv-erp3:5022' It`s response is: The server network address "TCP://srv-erp3:5022" can not be reached or does not exist. Check the network address name and that the ports for the local and remote endpoints are operational. I go to cmd on srv-erp3 and use netstat -an... this port is listening. I go to cmd on srv-erp1 and use telnet srv-erp3 5022...and its ok to connect. All firewalls are turned off. The only difference in config of srvrs is that srv-erp1 is on Windows Server 2003 R2 x64, and srv-erp3 is on Windows 2008 R2 x64 What can be the reason of this problem? Regards, Dmitry.

  • Porting a web application to work in IE7

    I'm developing a web application that uses lots of Javascript and CSS, both of my own creation and through third-party libraries. These include jQuery and Google Maps & Visualization JS APIs. I've been testing everything in Firefox 3. Things are peachy until it turns out the main target of this webapp is (cue sad trombone) IE7. I'm looking for caveats, advice, libraries, or other references to help make this transition as easy as possible (not that it's actually going to be easy). I've already tried IE7.js though it hasn't yet shown itself to be the silver bullet I was hoping for. I'm sure that it works as advertised, I think it's just not as all-encompassing as I'd like (example: colors like #4684EE and #DC3912, which are correctly rendered in FF3, are rendered as black in IE7, with or without IE7.js). Are there other libraries out there to help bring IE7 (more) in line with FF3? A corollary question: what debugger would you recommend for IE7? I'm currently using Firebug Lite, but it runs painfully slowly. Is there anything out there with similar features that I might have missed?

  • OpenCV. cvFnName() works, but cv::FunName() doesn't work

    I'm using OpenCV to write a plugin for a simulator. I've made an OpenCV project (single - not a plugin) and it works fine. When I added OpenCV libs to the plugin project, I added all libs required. Visual Studio 2010 doesn't highlight any code line with red. All looks fine and compiles fine. But in execution, the program halts with a Runtime Error on any cv::function. For example: cv::imread, or cv::imwrite. But if I replace them with cvLoadImage() and cvSaveImage(), it works fine. Why does this happen? I don't want to rewrite the whole script in old-api-style (cvFnName). It means I should change all Mat objects to IplImages, and so on. UPDATE: // preparing template ifstream ifile(tmplfilename); if ( !FILE_LOADED && ifile ) { // loading template file Mat tmpl = cv::imread(tmplfilename, 1); // << here occurs error FILE_LOADED = true; } Mat src; Bmp2Mat(hDC, hBitmap, src); TargetDetector detector(src, tmpl); detector.detectTarget(); If I change to: if ( !FILE_LOADED && ifile ) { IplImage* tmpl = 0; tmpl = cvLoadImage(tmplfilename, 1); // no error occurs } And then no error occurs. Early it displayed some Runtime Error. Now, I wanted to copy exact message and it just crashes the application (simulator, what I am pluginning). It displays window error - to kill process or no. (I can't show exact message, because I'm using russian windows now)

  • Excel workbooks produced by POI don't work when linked

    Here is what I'm doing : Create a workbook in memory (book = new HSSFWorkbook(), ...) Save it to disk (book.write(...)) Open in Excel (ok) Create another workbook in Excel, which links to the first one (=PoiWorkbook?xls!A1) Close Excel Then everytime I open the second workbook again, all the links are #N/A, unless I also open the POI-generated workbook at the same time. I never saw this behaviour with standard workbooks created in Excel. Anyone has seen this and found a workaround ? Thanks.

    I've got a simple winform test app i'm using to try some Log4Net Dependency Injection stuff. I've made a simple interface in my Services project :- public interface ILogging { void Debug(string message); // snip the other's. } Then my concrete type will be using Log4Net... public class Log4NetLogging : ILogging { private static ILog Log4Net { get { return LogManager.GetLogger( MethodBase.GetCurrentMethod().DeclaringType); } } public void Debug(string message) { if (Log4Net.IsDebugEnabled) { Log4Net.Debug(message); } } } So far so good. Nothing too hard there. Now, in a different project (and therefore namesapce), I try and use this ... public partial class Form1 : Form { public Form1() { FileInfo fileInfo = new FileInfo("Log4Net.config"); log4net.Config.XmlConfigurator.Configure(fileInfo); } private void Foo() { // This would be handled with DI, but i've not set it up // (on the constructor, in this code example). ILogging logging = new Log4NetLogging(); logging.Debug("Test message"); } } Ok .. also pretty simple. I've hardcoded the ILogging instance but that is usually dependency injected via the constructor. Anyways, when i check this line of code... return LogManager.GetLogger(MethodBase.GetCurrentMethod().DeclaringType); the DeclaringType type value is of the Service namespace, not the type of the Form (ie. X.Y.Z.Form1) which actually called the method. Without passing the type INTO method as another argument, is there anyway using reflection to figure out the real method that called it?
