  • LWJGL in Visual Studio (possible)?

    I switched from XNA and C# to LWJGL and Java about 14 months ago. Inherently, this called for a switch in IDE. I started using eclipse because I have also done some basic Android development in the past. I soon switched to Netbeans - Eclipse is just too primitive. After using netbeans for about six months, I've started looking over the fence at Visual Studio 11, toying with Metro apps for windows 8. Now I want to know, is there any known way to use Visual Studio for LWJGL?

  • Give permissions for packages downloaded from the internet and lock them in Ubuntu 12.04 sidebar

    I downloaded NetBeans IDE and Eclipse IDE from the internet and installed then. Well, the Eclipse IDE works fine, but when I execute NetBeans IDE directly from the link, without sudo permission, it shows me lots of error telling that some files are read only. This does not happens when I'm using the terminal to call the .sh script with sudo permissions. Another thing that bothers me: How can I fix my shortcuts in the Ubuntu's 12.04 sidebar? I want to combine a launcher with enough permissions to do everything it's needing and fix it in my sidebar. Is it possible?

  • Problem with Update(GameTime) Methods and Pause implementation

    I have the pause function implemented and it works correctly in that it dims the player screen and stops updating the gameplay. The problem is that GameTime continues to increase while it is paused, so my method that checks gameTime versus previousSpawnTime before spawning another enemy gets messed up and if the game is paused too long it is noticeable that the next enemy draws far too early. Here is my code for the enemy update. private void UpdateEnemies(GameTime gameTime) { // Spawn a new enemy every 1.5 seconds if (gameTime.TotalGameTime - previousSpawnTime > enemySpawnTime) { previousSpawnTime = gameTime.TotalGameTime; // Add an Enemy AddEnemy(); } ... I also have other methods that depend on gameTime. I've tried getting the total pause time and subtracting that from the total game time, but I can't seem to get it to work correctly if that is the way I should go about solving this.     When I open the src file in the project folder in Package Explorer in Eclipse, it says the following: Error retrieving content description for resource '/GuiAdd/src/GuiAdd.Java.' Now, the directories of the source projects shown in Eclipse Package explorer doesn't always have the source file to link to, causing this message. I need a way to sync the folders in the correct directory without overwriting the newest ones. Some source files I project files of the root which the Package explorer links to may be the correct versions but other source files in the root may not have the latest source or any source. I am not using svn/git or other depository programs.

  • How to determine the size of a package in terminal prior to downloading?

    When using apt-get install <package_name>, and there are dependencies that need to be downloaded, the terminal outputs names of additional packages and total size, and asks for confirmation before downloading. But, when dependencies are satisfied and nothing but the named package needs to be downloaded there is no size output and no confirmation. When using Synaptic, I can see the total size that new packages that will use after installation but no way to see the size that needs to be downloaded, except to go from package to package and use properties to see the compressed size. I would like to know if there is a way to see the size of a package(s) in terminal and Synaptic prior to downloading and installing it/them?

    A newbie here. I am trying to set up Eclipse for Linux Kernel Programming. The guide says set the project location as the root directory of the kernel. Where's the root directory of the kernel now? According to Linux file hierarchy system, it lists /lib as the root directory for shared libraries and kernel modules. I also see /lib32 and /lib64. However, I tried proceeding selecting /lib as the location and eclipse doesn't allow me to create the project.

    I've installed Ubuntu alongside Windows but at first didn't have a boot option menu. So, I installed bootrepair and ran it. A lot of answers kept on popping up like to use box2d, libgdx, andEngine, etc. So the real question is, what would be the best to start off with as a beginner. I have some experience with java code, just by reading about in the Oracle Docs. I've gone through Flash and Eclipse. When i mean gone through, i don't mean i have actually created my own game from Flash or Eclipse, but i just learn things here and there. Currently I'm reading Beginning Android for Beginners but I don't have the knowledge to implement my own Ideas into the game tutorials because of lack of experience. I'm looking for a way to learn how to program to create games for Android. While at the same time get experience from programming. I do not want to learn those drag and drop game making applications such as GameMaker.

    Hi, I am using postgreSQL for a scientific application (unsupervised clustering). The python program is multi-threaded so that each thread manages its own postmaster process (one per core). Hence, their is a lot of concurrency. Each thread-process loop infinitely though two SQL queries. The first is for reading, the second is for writing. The read operation considers 500 time the amount of rows the write operation considers.   • Understanding Linux SCSI queue depths

    I'm experimenting with the effects of different SCSI queue depth values on a Dell server running CentOS Linux 5.4 (x86_64). The server has two QLogic QLE2560 FC HBAs connected via multipathing to a storage system. The storage system has allocated two LUNs to the server, each connected through four paths in an active-active-active-active round-robin configuration. All in all, the two LUNs exist as eight /dev/sdX devices, represented by two devices in /dev/mpath. I currently adjust the queue depth values in /etc/modprobe.conf and check the result (after rebooting) by looking in the seventh column of /proc/scsi/sg/devices. Two questions related to that: Is there a way to adjust queue depths without rebooting or unloading the qla2xxx kernel module? E.g., can I echo a new queue depth value into some /proc or /sys-like file to update the queue depth? If I set the queue depth to 128, is that 128 in total for all devices handled by the qla2xxx module?, or 128 for each HBA? (256 in total), or 128 for each of the eight /dev/sdX devices (1024 in toal)?, or 128 for each of the two /dev/mpath/... devices (256 in total)? This is important for me to know so that my server doesn't flood the storage system, affecting other servers connected to it.
