• JavaOne Kicks Off with Sunday Keynotes

  The Java Strategy, Partner, and Technical keynotes will be held on Sunday, September 22, beginning at 4:00 p.m. like last year, to free up time for session slots on Monday and Tuesday. The keynotes will again take place at the historic Masonic Auditorium on Nob Hill. • Maya Animated Character export for XNA 4.0 problem

  To begin with, I'm trying to export an animated character in .fbx format from Maya 2013 to XNA 4.0 In Maya, The Model has a basic rig and the animations are in clips made in the Trax editor. so the issue i'm having is after selecting the model and the root joint and then hitting export in .fbx format, for some reason when i open the exported .fbx file the joint system is detached from the model with no animation. Btw, i have the animations in clips so that they can be called in code, for example "run","walk","attack". So, what can i do to solve this problem? Thank you.

• Why was my Facebook game rejected with the note that "your app icon must not overlap with content in your cover image?"

  My FB game just recently got rejected for two reasons. The first I fixed, but I just can't see to figure out what they mean by the second, and I was hoping someone else got the same issue and did know what they meant. The remaining error is: Cover Image Your app icon must not overlap with content in your cover image. Click on 'Web Preview' in the 'App Details' section to check for overlap prior to submitting your app. See more here. All I know is that the rejection has something to do with the cover image, not the icons or the screenshots. The web preview of my game looks like this now: Please let me know what to do to get approved.

• Internet connection randomly drops out

  Since a week or 2, I have this random network failures. No error pops up, the system says it's still connected to the internet(wifi and wired). The problem is, I can't connect to anything, even a ping google.com gives no feedback. And after many network-manager resets it will work again, for just a minute, and drop out again. I noticed that the /etc/resolv.conf contains this line: nameserver 127.0.0.1 I left out the "Do not edit" stuff, and after it worked for a second, this line is added: search lan When I change the nameserver to 8.8.8.8, I am still able to connect to anywhere. Does anyone got a clue what is happening here? I will provide any information asked. Thanks in advance p.s. I run Ubuntu 13.04 since lastnight(24-06-2013)

• Use hotplug and turn on/off PCI device for replacing NIC

  How can I turn off the PCI slots and change the device (especially NIC) without shutting the server down? I found a similar question (How do I turn off PCI devices?) but there are no /sys/bus/pci/slot and no files in /sys/bus/pci/slots.   JavaFX 2.2.3 and JDK 7u9 were released today. In addition to the release documentation, the following new information is provided: Learn about some of the "behind the scenes" work for an application, such as threads, events, and binding with the new learning trail on the landing page. Learn how to use cell editors with the List View component. The new example in the UI Controls tutorial shows how to build a list of names by selecting them from a combo box. • Which ATI driver version Ubuntu 10.04 LTS used?

  I have a trouble with ATI driver with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. When I install ATI driver in Ubuntu 12.04 via "Additional Driver", then I can't shutdown Ubuntu, it showed blank (black) screen and my laptop still run. Sometimes, my screen like that: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9_iygesbBM But when I install Ubuntu 10.04 and install ATI driver via "Additional Driver", it's very good and no trouble I've seen. It's sweet but 10.04 is old and is supported to 4/2013. So I want to know why Ubuntu 10.04 works good better than 12.04 with ATI driver (in my case)?

    Ich darf ja keine Namen nennen, aber der Gewinner unserer Umfrage auf der DOAG Konferenz 2012 steht fest und hat sich mit seiner Teilnahme selbst ein erstklassiges Nikolaus-Geschenk gemacht - und zwar ein niegelnagelneues iPad!!! Zugegeben - genau so wie auf dem Bild sieht das iPad des glücklichen Gewinners nicht aus, denn dieser Custom Design Wunsch von mir hätte wahrscheinlich ebenso viel gekostet wie eine ausgewachsene Exadata, aber das wird die Freude nicht trüben. Und freuen können sich auch noch die Gewinner auf den Plätzen 2 bis 5 - nämlich über eine Laptop-Tasche, hochwertigen Stift und Notizmappe aus Leder. Ich freue mich mit den Gewinnern und nicht zuletzt über die rege Teilnahme und vor allem die Ergebnisse der Umfrage. Auch dazu kann ich nicht viel sagen, nur so viel, dass Windows als Server Betriebssystem für Oracle Datenbanken kein Schattendasein führt. • How to tell google a blog article has been updated?

  The URL of my posts has the publication date and slugged title, but how can I best show google search users that an article has been updated since its original publication? I was considering devoting a few characters of the meta description (e.g. "updated 2013-Aug-1), or doing so under the first h1 tag. I don't want to hurt the seo value of my site, but I also want to let users know that articles have been substantially updated since their publication. Is there a better way to do this?

• Wubi on Windows 8 without secure boot?

  I have a MacBook Pro. I've heard rumours that if Windows 8 is going to have this thing called "Secure boot", Wubi cannot work. At first I plan to install Ubuntu on my mac via Wubi(and windows via bootcamp), but since I can't find my Windows 7 Installation CD, I installed Windows 8 on my Mac and installed Ubuntu on a VM. Then suddenly Windows 8 Release Preview was released today so I decided to install over my existing copy of Windows 8 Consumer Preview. When I went to the Windows 8 Upgrade assistant, it said that the firmware on my Mac doesn't support Secure booting. I don't even know what it means, but since the Upgrade assistant said that the Mac cannot support secure booting, can I install Wubi successfully? And what is secure booting anyways? Any help will be appreciated.
