• Sorting of table column by string length not working as intended when done in IB via cocoa - binding

  Hi all, I made a sample application displaying list of employees with their salaries over NSTableView using NSArrayController. Basic functionality is working as intended. Also sorting is working fine when Selector - compare or caseInsensitiveCompare is assigned in attribute pane for table column- employeeName. Problem occurs when I try to sort it by string length by setting selector in IB as - length, for the table column - employeeName. It does sorting by string length but does it inappropriately. It is doing sorting on alternate clicks ie. on first click it sorts the content in table in descending order by length. Then on second click it does not arrange contents in ascending order by length but sets arrow on top as in ascending. Then on third click it arranges contents in ascending order by length but sets arrow on top of table column as in descending and so on... Can anyone suggest if I am wrong somewhere? Thanks, Miraaj

I want to use it on the webpage, but at the install window the name is MyActiveX.cab with no link. the MyActiveX.cab name can be changed by modifying the html page's tag codebase attribute. but the name is still format like "XXX.cab" with no hyperlink.   Hi all, I don't know if the title is very clear, but my issue is as follows : I have an activity with a listview, and on top of this listview, i have a searchfield (edittext). The issue is that when i try debugging on a phone, the virtual keyboard gets out straight after the screen displays the activity... And of course, it's hidding half of the list... So, is there an attribute or something I can use to prevent this from happening?(I still want to keybord to appear when i click the edittext though...) thank you

  This is more of a philosophical/best-practice sort of question rather than a technical problem. Are there any strong arguments against writing a DataContract class with methods that are to be used server-side only? Or what about additional properties that are not decorated with the DataMember attribute? For example: [DataContract] public class LogEntry { [DataMember] public string Message { get; set; } [DataMember] public string Severity { get; set; } public string SomeOtherProperty { get; set; } ... public void WriteToDatabase() { ... } } Not doing it seems like an awful lot of extra work that I would prefer to avoid, although using extension methods could make it easier. But, as a good developer, I am wondering if it is bad practice to do so.

  Hi, i have two Entities, "Parent" and "Child", that are linked through a bidirectional one-to-many relationship with the cascade attribute set to "all". When adding a Child object to the Parent children collection using the code below, i can't get the ID of the persisted child until i commit the transaction: Parent p = (Parent) session.load(Parent.class, pid); Child c = new Child(); p.addChild(c); // "c" hasn't an ID (is always zero) However, when i persist a child entity by explicitly calling the session.save() method, the ID is created and set immediately, even if the transaction hasn't been committed: Child c = new Child(); session.save(c); // "c" has an ID Is there a way to get the ID of the child entity immediately without calling the session.save() method? • Cross browser (chrome/firefox) trying to get top-pos defined in percentage as pixels

  I have a problem whit cross browser output, I'm trying to get the top and left css attribute of a div, but firefox gives me the exact pixel position and Chrome give me the percentage.   I would like to install a feature according to the brand. So in my brand.wxi I defined: <?define brand.FeatureLevel = 1 ?> And in my wxs I wrote: <Feature Id="FF" Title="FF" Level="$(var.brand.FeatureLevel)"> <ComponentRef Id="..." /> <ComponentRef Id="..." /> </Feature> This definition works fine (wheather I've placed 0 or 1 as FeatureLevel). My only problem is a warning I get at compilation time: The 'Level' attribute is invalid - The value '$(var.brand.FeatureLevel)' is invalid according to its datatype 'http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema:integer' - The string '$(var.brand.FeatureLevel)' is not a valid Integer value. Is there a way to fix this warning? Can I define integer variable? I couldn't find a way...

• PHP upload file using PUT instead of POST

  I read something about this on PHP docs, but it's not celar to me: Do the most widely used browsers (IE, FF, Chrome, Safari, Opera, ...) support this PUT method to uplaod files? What HTML should I write to make the browser call the server via PUT request. I mean do I need to write a FORM with an INPUT file field and just replace the attribute method="POST" with the method="PUT"? On the PHP docs (link above) they say a PUT request is much simplier than a POST request when uploading file, along with this advantage, what other advantages/disadvanatges do the PUT has comapred to teh POST? • Websphere CE issue in Eclipse EE

  I have downloaded the Websphere 2.1 App Server and verified that it works fine. I now wanted to use eclipse EE to manage it by adding the server to the server tab. Everything seems to work fine when going through the setup but when I go to start the server I get the error message: ERROR [GBeanInstanceState] Error while starting; GBean is now in the FAILED state: abstractName="org.apache.geronimo.framework/j2ee-system/2.1.4/car?ServiceModule=org.apache.geronimo.framework/j2ee-system/2.1.4/car,j2eeType=AttributeStore,name=AttributeManager" java.io.IOException: Unable to write manageable attribute files to directory /opt/IBM/WebSphere/AppServerCommunityEdition/var/config at org.apache.geronimo.system.configuration.LocalAttributeManager.ensureParentDirectory(LocalAttributeManager.java:573) at org.apache.geronimo.system.configuration.LocalAttributeManager.load(LocalAttributeManager.java:327) .... • Best way to do partial update content on ASP.NET

  Initially i was planning to use master page for every page in my application. At the end, i found out every times the page is changed, it reload full page even it have the same master page. I have confused the frameset with the master page. Then, i have 2 ideas in my minds to achieve it by not using master page. Using iframe and set the attribute to runat server, so that i can change the page in my codebehind.(I preferred to control the page flow in server side) Make every single child page to user control. Then dynamically load it to the panel in codebehind. Please give me some advise which method is the best in ASP.NET with AJAX enabled, or other ways that is better. Thanks.

• Lock HTML select element, allow value to be sent on submit

  I have a select box (for a customer field) on a complex order form, when the user starts to add lines to the order they should not be allowed to change the customer select box (unless all lines are deleted). My immediate thought was that I could use the disabled attribute, but when the box is disabled the selected value is no longer passed to the target. When the problem arose a while ago one of the other developers worked around this by looping through all the options and disabling all but the selected option, and sure enough the value was passed to the target and we've been using since. But now I'm looking for a proper solution, I don't want to loop through all the options because are data is expanding and it's starting to introduce performance issues. I'd prefer not to enable this / all the elements when the submit button is hit. How can I lock the input, whilst maintaining the selected option and passing that value to the target script? I would prefer a non-JavaScript solution if possible, but if needed we are running jQuery 1.4.2 so that could be used.

  I have a form with a drop down menu and I want to do a javascript action whenever the user changes the selection. I imagine it is possible find the input later, using javascript, and attach an event to to it; but it seems like it would be easier if there was some sort of attribute or option that could be defined in form-configure(): e.g. $this->widgetSchema['menu'] = new sfWidgetFormChoice(array( ... 'onclick' => javascript function )); obviously this doesn't work, and it probably wouldn't be an onclick method either, but my question is how do you attach a javascript event to a input/widget?

• How to handle JPA annotations for a pointer to a generic interface

  I have a generic class that is also a mapped super class that has a private field that holds a pointer to another object of the same type: @MappedSuperclass public abstract class MyClass<T extends MyIfc<T>> implements MyIfc<T> { @OneToOne() @JoinColumn(name = "previous", nullable = true) private T previous; ... } My problem is that Eclipse is showing an error in the file at the OneToOne "Target Entity "T" for previous is not an Entity." All of the implementations of MyIfc are, in fact, Entities. I should also add that each concrete implementation that inherit from MyClass uses a different value for T (because T is itself) so I can't use the "targetEntity" attribute. I guess if there is no answer then I'll have to move this JPA annotation to all the concrete subclasses of MyClass. It just seems like JPA/Hibernate should be smart enough to know it'll all work out at run-time. Makes me wonder if I should just ignore this error somehow.

  In Scala I would write an abstract class with an abstract attribute path: abstract class Base { val path: String } class Sub extends Base { override val path = "/demo/" } Java doesn't know abstract attributes and I wonder what would be the best way to work around this limitation. My ideas: a) constructor parameter abstract class Base { protected String path; protected Base(String path) { this.path = path; } } class Sub extends Base { public Sub() { super("/demo/"); } } b) abstract method abstract class Base { // could be an interface too abstract String getPath(); } class Sub extends Base { public String getPath() { return "/demo/"; } } Which one do you like better? Other ideas? I tend to use the constructor since the path value should not be computed at runtime.

• Paging in ActiveRecord

  Does CastleProject ActiveRecord support paging? I need to load only data which is now seen on the screen. If I use [HasMany], it will be loaded as a whole either immediately or at the first call (if lazy attribute is true). However I only need something like first 100 records (then maybe 100 next records). Another question is how to load only 100 items. If the collection is too big, memory can reach its limit if we constantly load more and more items.

  I've started developing my first app with XUL and I've run into a problem that I can't seem to solve. All I want to do is have my app start maximized. I've set the sizemode attribute to maximized on my top level window element but that has no effect. My prefs.js file has the following line: pref("toolkit.defaultChromeFeatures", "chrome,centerscreen,menubar,resizable,status,toolbar,scrollbars"); This also does not work. My window appears and it only has a close button (X) and does not have a minimize or maximize button. Any ideas???

  I know it is better coding practice to avoid inline javascript like: <img id="the_image" onclick="do_this(true);return false;"/> I am thinking about switching this kind of stuff for bound jquery click events like: $("#the_image").bind("click",function(){ do_this(true); return false; }); Will I lose any performance if I bind a ton of click events? I am not worried about the time it takes to initially bind the events, but the response times between clicking and it happening. I bet if there is a difference, it is negligible, but I will have a ton of functions bound. I'm wondering if browsers treat the onclick attribute the same way as a bound event. Thanks

I found the following via google: REXML::Attribute.class_eval( %q^ def to_string %Q[#@expanded_name="#{to_s().gsub(/"/, '&quot;')}"] end ^ ) I also have a problem in that REXML is reformatting the document. are there ways to stop this? • How can I compare Core Data models?

  I noticed while doing system testing that a feature of our app had been removed. It looks like at some point, an older version of a file was checked into SVN that was missing a property. This specific file was generated from the Core Data model, and sure enough, the latest version of the model in SVN is missing the same attribute. I need to find out if any other attributes are missing, or if anything else in the model changed. However, the elements file in the .xcodedatamodel folder appears to binary and I can't compare the revisions. Is there a way to find the differences between two Core Data models in SVN? Barring that, what would be the best way to accomplish this task?

• ASP.NET MVC - Add XHTML into validation error messages

  Hi, Just starting with ASP.Net MVC and have hit a bit of a snag regarding validation messages. I've a custom validation attribute assigned to my class validate several properties on my model. When this validation fails, we'd like the error message to contain XHTML mark-up, including a link to help page, (this was done in the original WebForms project as a ASP:Panel). At the moment the XHTML tags such as "< a ", in the ErrorMessage are being rendered to the screen. Is there any way to get the ValidationSummary to render the XHTML markup correctly? Or is there a better way to handle this kind of validation? Thanks
