  • Basic Hibernate question using and sql query

    Hello Sorry if this is basic but I cannot find the solution anywhere. I have an java Object ‘Person’ with 3 properties firstname,lastname and username. I have an Oracle Store procedure returning a Resultset with the 3 column. All works fine for that. Now I have another StoreProcedure that will only return firstname and lastname but not username. I get the following error : « could not read column value from result set username. » Hibernate tries to fetch the username property from the resultset. If I remove the property username, then it works. Do I have to Create a Special Pojo for Each type of resultset or can I tell Hibernate what to map for each result set? Please help.

    I have a basic "best practices" Python question. I see that there are already StackOverflow answers tangentially related to this question but they're mired in complicated examples or involve multiple factors. Given this code: #!/usr/bin/python def test_function(): try: a = str(5) raise b = str(6) except: print b test_function() what is the best way to avoid the inevitable "UnboundLocalError: local variable 'b' referenced before assignment" that I'm going to get in the exception handler? Does python have an elegant way to handle this? If not, what about an inelegant way? In a complicated function I'd prefer to avoid testing the existence of every local variable before I, for example, printed debug information about them.

    I am trying to fetch an image from an IP camera using HTTP. The camera requires HTTP basic authentication, so I have to add the corresponding request header: URL url = new URL("http://myipcam/snapshot.jpg"); URLConnection uc = url.openConnection(); uc.setRequestProperty("Authorization", "Basic " + new String(Base64.encode("user:pass".getBytes()))); // outputs "null" System.out.println(uc.getRequestProperty("Authorization")); I am later passing the url object to ImageIO.read(), and, as you can guess, I am getting an HTTP 401 Unauthorized, although user and pass are correct. What am I doing wrong? I've also tried new URL("http://user:pass@myipcam/snapshot.jpg"), but that doesn't work either.

Could anyone give me the MOST basic example of how/why to use one, and perhaps the difference with or without it (what would happen if you didn't attach the '&'). for example, if I've created a function: int doSomething(int& a, int& b), what would be the consequences of not putting in that '&.' I understand that reference variables are used in order to change a formal-reference, which then allows a two-way exchange of parameters.   • Basic Objective-C syntax: "%@"?

    Hi, I'm working through the Stanford iPhone podcasts and have some basic questions. The first: why is there no easy string concatenation? (or am I just missing it?) I needed help with the NSLog below, and have no idea what it's currently doing (the %@ part). Do you just substitute those in wherever you need concatenation, and then comma separate the values at the end? NSString *path = @"~"; NSString *absolutePath = [path stringByExpandingTildeInPath]; NSLog(@"My home folder is at '%@'", absolutePath); whereas with any other programing language I'd have done it like this: NSLog(@"My home folder is at " + absolutePath); Thanks!     Hi guys, I have a website that has around 10 pages. Only one of those pages uses Zend (to integrate with Google gData). Right now, it's just all coded into that one page, but I'm wanting to learn how to use Zend Framework. How do you handle basic-relatively static php pages within Zend Framework? Do you just stick the whole individual pages into their own respective views and then have to common stuff in the layout, and not worry about a model and controller for those pages? in general, is MVC accepted and appropriate technology for general "web-design" work?

    I got this doubt while writing some code. Is 'bool' a basic datatype defined in the C++ standard or is it some sort of extension provided by the compiler ? I got this doubt because Win32 has 'BOOL' which is nothing but a typedef of long. Also what happens if I do something like this: int i = true; Is it "always" guaranteed that variable i will have value 1 or is it again depends on the compiler I am using ? Further for some Win32 APIs which accept BOOL as the parameter what happens if I pass bool variable?

    I will be writing my first daemon in php and I have a couple really basic questions that I need help with. 1) What packages need to be installed on my linux server and Does anything in PHP need to be enabled? So far I have gotten this - http://pear.php.net/package/System_Daemon/download 2) Where on server do I save my daemon files? 3) I have a number of files that need to be included within the daemon that contain classes and functions for gathering emails and attachments through IMAP.     I have a set of tables to show the relationship between organziations and supporters below. Although I have done some basic mySQL querries, I know very little about database 'design'. I plan to querry the database for: -a list of contributors to a specific organization... or, -a list of organizations that a specific suporter supports. The database tables for organiations and contributors may have other columns in the future and recieve a lesser amount of querries based on that information.   • How to define large list of strings in Visual Basic

    I'm writing a macro in Visual Basic for PowerPoint 2010. I'd like to initialize a really big list of strings like: big_ol_array = Array( _ "string1", _ "string2", _ "string3", _ "string4" , _ ..... "string9999" _ ) ...but I get the "Too many line continuations" error in the editor. When I try to just initialize the big array with no line breaks, the VB editor can't handle such a long line (1000+) characters. Does anyone know a good way to initialize a huge list of strings in VB? Thanks in advance!

  • MVC's Html.DropDownList and "There is no ViewData item of type 'IEnumerable<SelectListItem>' that has the key '...'

    ASP.NET MVC's HtmlHelper extension methods take out a lot of the HTML-by-hand drudgery to which MVC re-introduced us former WebForms programmers. Another thing to which MVC re-introduced us is poor documentation, after the excellent documentation for most of the rest of ASP.NET and the .NET Framework which I now realize I'd taken for granted. I'd come to regard using HtmlHelper methods instead of writing HTML by hand as a best practice. When I upgraded a project from MVC 3 to MVC 4, several hidden fields with boolean values broke, because MVC 3 called ToString() on those values implicitly, and MVC 4 threw an exception until you called ToString() explicitly. Fields that used HtmlHelper weren't affected. I then went through dozens of views and manually replaced hidden inputs that had been coded by hand with Html.Hidden calls. So for a dropdown list I was rendering on the initial page as empty, then populating via JavaScript after an AJAX call, I tried to use a HtmlHelper method: @Html.DropDownList("myDropdown") which threw an exception: System.InvalidOperationException: There is no ViewData item of type 'IEnumerable<SelectListItem>' that has the key 'myDropdown'. That's funny--I made no indication I wanted to use ViewData. Why was it looking there? Just render an empty select list for me. When I populated the list with items, it worked, but I didn't want to do that: @Html.DropDownList("myDropdown", new List<SelectListItem>() { new SelectListItem() { Text = "", Value = "" } }) I removed this dummy item in JavaScript after the AJAX call, so this worked fine, but I shouldn't have to give it a list with a dummy item when what I really want is an empty select. A bit of research with JetBrains dotPeek (helpfully recommended by Scott Hanselman) revealed the problem. Html.DropDownList requires some sort of data to render or it throws an error. The documentation hints at this but doesn't make it very clear. Behind the scenes, it checks if you've provided the DropDownList method any data. If you haven't, it looks in ViewData. If it's not there, you get the exception above. In my case, the helper wasn't doing much for me anyway, so I reverted to writing the HTML by hand (I ain't scared), and amended my best practice: When an HTML control has an associated HtmlHelper method and you're populating that control with data on the initial view, use the HtmlHelper method instead of writing by hand.

Chrome in Windows 7 opens and shows those HTML files just fine (file:///W:/welcome.html). But Internet Explorer does not, and shows this error instead of the files: Internet Explorer cannot display the web page What you can try: [button Diagnose Connection Problems] More information This problem can be caused by a variety of issues, including: Internet connectivity has been lost. The website is temporarily unavailable. The Domain Name Server (DNS) is not reachable. The Domain Name Server (DNS) does not have a listing for the website's domain. If this is an HTTPS (secure) address, click Tools, click Internet Options, click Advanced, and check to be sure the SSL and TLS protocols are enabled under the security section. For the internet zone in the status bar, it shows: Internet | Protected Mode: On IE settings are a mystery to me, and I could possibly get it to work by tweaking IE settings, but I don't know which ones. How do I make IE show the same files that Chrome is happy to show? (Chrome showing them means that the files themselves are fine, there is something about the setup that just makes IE be a diva.)

  • Emails from web site sometimes blank or gibberish

    Our company has one web site with an online store based on osCommerce. The system sends emails for various reasons, such as password changes, order confirmations, etc., using PHP's mail() function. We occasionally have customers report that the email they received is either blank (email is plain text format) or gibberish (email is in HTML format). In the latter case it's really just HTML that's being displayed as raw text but of course the customers can't read it. In this case the first opening tag's <, and sometimes a few more characters, has gone missing. In an attempt to determine whether this was happening only for certain customers or email systems I configured the web site to send a CC of each message to a service account at my end. Those CC'd messages always arrive intact and display correctly in Outlook. For what it's worth, it seems to happen a little more frequently to Hotmail users but is certainly not limited to them. As the web site is on a shared (Debian) host there's precious little I can do about debugging things from that end, although if I made the right request I feel the hosting company staff would help me, even though they have limited resources to spend on such matters. Any suggestions on what else I might do to try and determine just why those emails are not being received correctly by some customers, yet a CC copy arrives just fine?

  • Need text editor that can save locally AND via FTP for Linux - switching from EditPlus on windows

I've been using EditPlus for many years mainly because of it's ability to save locally, and then send the file via FTP, with easy keyboard shortcuts (ctrl-s to save, ctrl-alt-s to ftp).   • XHTML / CSS help?

    Basically on GunChester my project I have an few pixel wide gap between #login_top (top image holder) and the 3 CSS col's below, #login_left, #login_centre and #login_right so that my first question why? and how can I fix this, this is in FF, Chrome and IE. Secondly the BG image seems to be overlaying twice as in its stretched at the top then the full picture does display as it should. I did have it working but when trying to fix the pixel gap I must of messed something up but no idea what, so it is now going pear shape, lease help with both these situations :)? I’ve used JavaScript ~2 years ago (just a little), so I don’t really know how to write the exact code. I’ve found something on the internet, but it doesn’t do what I want. I want to have the following: The user can check the RadioButtons. When the user clicks the Button, the JavaScript function should return all the checked radio buttons (I only need to know which RadioButton is checked). Since I know the name of the RadioButtons in my Windows 8 App, I can do the following: var object = WebView.InvokeScript("JavaScriptFunctionNAME", NameOfRadiobutton); So the WebView invokes the script and should get as a return the VALUE of the RadioButton, which is checked. “JavaScriptFunctionNAME” = name of the function in Javascript NameOfRadiobutton = the name of the RadioButton as a parameter (for example “frage1”). Currently I’m returning the value of the radiobutton, which is checked in the RadioGroup “frage1”. How can I check every RadioButton by it’s parameter? By this I mean I have a parameter “frage1” and return the value of the checked RadioButton. After this, I call the function again with the parameter “frage2” and return the checked RadioButtons value. Could anyone help me out with the JavaScript-function?
