• Can I have code that executes before and after tests are run by NUnit?

  I've got a bunch of tests in NUnit which create garbage data on the filesystem (bad, I know, but I have little control over this). Currently we have a cleanup tool that removes these temporaries and such, but I'd like to be able to run that cleanup tool automatically. I'd have to be able to run it after all tests have finished running. I have similar checking that I'd like to do at the beginning, to ensure that there are none of these temporaries left from previous runs that might change the outcome of the tests. Is such a thing simple or am I going to have to implement a whole new test runner for such a thing?

• Specifying Sd card mountable as removable disk in android manifest

  My android app requires that the device has an SDcard and that SDcard is mountable on a PC or MAC as a FileSystem (removable disk) . It is because there is a program for windows which my mobile app writes to sd card which user has to run from his PC and that program works on files on that Mounted SD card and disks on PC from windows. This was a problem on most the Tablets because not all of them can mount their SDcard as removable disk on PC without requiring special drivers on PC for that tablet. But for majority of ICS phones the PC seems to mount the disk as removable storage so I would like to limit my app for the API 8 - API15 (Phones only) Is there a way to specify in the manifest of an android app that the app should work with an ICS android phone and not the ICS tablets so that users having tablets can not download it from android market ? • SQL Compact Edition database corruption

  Hi, Our product is using MS SQL Compact Edition on a Windows machine (laptop). It's basically a metadata index for files we have on the filesystem. Recently we have seen databases getting corrupted. This happens when the machine is very busy moving files around and has to do a tiny bit of database changes at the same time. I was somewhat shocked that was at all possible. It was my expectation that the database would stay coherent whatever the circumstances. Of course we are doing something wrong. Things we have checked so far are: Use of only one db connection per thread specify the maximum size when opening the database The database is accessed only by one application, a .net based windows service. Are there other gotcha's?

• PHP, manipulating images and thumbnails?

  I am using php and mysql. I allow my registered users to upload photos, the photos are store in filesystem format, then I will keep the original/max size of : width: 1600px and heigh: 1200px. In the user profile page, I would like to display the image, it maybe one of the 5 types of thumnails: 500x500, 300x300, 200x200, 100x100 or 50x50. What is the best way to create the thumbnails, here are my current solutions: I am thinking of create 1 thumbnail, then from that thumbnail, i will resize in [img src="" width="XX"] tag, alternatively, store the different thumbnails size in database, then get and display it Create 5 thumbnails for each photos? (I am afraid this is a bad way) Whats the best practices?

  Hi Kernel Gurus, I'm currently writing a simple "multicaster" module. Only one process can open a proc filesystem file for writing, and the rest can open it for reading. To do so i use the inode_operation .permission callback, I check the operation and when i detect someone open a file for writing I set a flag ON. i need a way to detect if a process that opened a file for writing has decided to close the file so i can set the flag OFF, so someone else can open for writing. Currently in case someone is open for writing i save the current-pid of that process and when the .close callback is called I check if that process is the one I saved earlier. Is there a better way to do that? Without saving the pid, perhaps checking the files that the current process has opened and it's permission... Thanks!

• 'Future-proof' Live Audio Capture & Broadcast [migrated]

  I'm looking to implement some live audio broadcasting functionality within a Ruby on Rails site for a client and was hoping I could get some input from people who have tackled this type of thing before. Essentially what I need to do is capture and record a user's audio (via microhpone, line in, etc), then stream that to 1,000+ listeners with very little latency, like sub 2 second if possible. So it looks like we've got 3 parts: Web-based audio capture (likely with Flash or JS) Server to accept audio feed and stream to listeners (likely Icecast or Wowza) Actual audio player (maybe HTML5 w/ Flash as a fallback? Maybe this jPlayer fork) Does RTMP makes sense here? Or maybe HTTP? What's the most 'future-proof' way to make this happen? Building with mobile in mind, but still want to be able stream to anyone. I've found lots of potentially helpful threads and software but I'm struggling to get an idea of how it all fits together. I'm a front end guy and way out of my comfort zone so if anyone has insights to offer, I'd love to hear them.

• asp.net mvc route clashing with physical path in IIS7

  I'm messing about with controller organisation and I've hit a problem. If I have the following physical structure /Home/HomeController.cs /Home/Index.aspx /Home/About.aspx and I request the URI: /Home/Index I get a 403 Directory Listing Denied :( (im using a custom IControllerFactory and IViewEngine to look in this non-default path) Why is this happening? (I know the 403 is because its hitting the /Home folder, but why is it hitting the folder?) Why doesn't the UrlRoutingModule rewrite the route and let the controller pick up the request? Application_BeginRequest fires, but then it seems to pass control back to IIS to try and serve from the filesystem. Is it the UrlRoutingModule that defaults to a physical path if it exists before rewriting? Is there a way to make this work? N.B. Please don't suggest relocating my controllers etc. I know this is an obvious option, but that isn't the question ;) Using IIS7 In Integrated Mode Thanks

  Hi, I want to develop a program that copies a partition's 'data' only, to another partition. And I want to do it such that the program starts from the first sector of source partition and checks if a sector is used. If it is used copy it to the destination parition. Else don't copy. In other words it's like copying only the contents of a partition to another, sector-by-sector. Question: Is there a way to check if a particular sector on harddisk is used or not? The programming language I am using is C++ and the underlying filesystem in NTFS. Thanks a lot.

• PHP readdir() not returning files in alphabetical order

  I am reading through a directory with some pictures and such using a pretty simple implementation of readdir() like the following: if ($handle = opendir($path)) { while (false !== ($szFilename = readdir($handle))) { if ($szFilename[0] !== '.') { if (is_file($path.$szFilename)) { // do stuff } } } } The problem that I am having is that the files are not being read in alphabetical order as the docs for readdir() state: Returns the filename of the next file from the directory. The filenames are returned in the order in which they are stored by the filesystem. Another weird thing is that, on the local testing server, the same code works great. This is running on a server using the LAMP stack in both cases. I know that I can build an array and just sort it, but I was wondering if I was missing something in what I was doing. • Permissions error for a signed Java applet when including external JAR files

  I have a signed Java applet. And it works fine. But now I have to integrate some 3rd party JAR files with it. When I test it from Eclipse, the whole thing works correctly. But when I test it as an applet, it gives me a FilePermission error. I thought this was because those 3rd party JAR files don't have a java.policy.applet within them. But manually adding the policy file doesn't get rid of the error. What am I missing? • SVN:Team member can checkout, commit; can't update

  Hi all, got a weird problem for you: I've set up an svn server on a home machine, which is accessible to the members of my game team over DynDNS. So far so good- everyone was able to checkout the repo no problem. In addition, several team members and I were able to update and commit just fine. The conundrum is this: One of my team members, who is able to both checkout and commit, is unable to update. TortoiseSVN proffers: Error Could not open the requested SVN filesystem Has anyone dealt with this problem before? This isn't my first SVN rodeo, but I have to admit I'm stumped. Thanks!

• Git - will the file moves be detected?

  I performed some modifications on a branch (A). I then decided to create a brand new branch (B) based on the state of my existing working copy and commit and push to that. There were a number of files that had been moved during my earlier refactoring, and hence were now not included in version control having been moved directly in the filesystem. By accident I did not add these files to git before committing and pushing to the new branch (B). If I now add these files and commit and push, will Git be able to detect the file move operations?

• How does Core Data determine if an NSObjects data can be dropped?

  In the app I am working on now I was storing about 500 images in Core Data. I have since pulled those images out and store them in the file system now, but in the process I found that the app would crash on the device if I had an array of 500 objects with image data in them. An array with 500 object ids with the image data in those objects worked fine. The 500 objects without the image data also worked fine. I found that I got the best performance with both an array of object ids and image data stored on the filesystem instead of in core data. The conclusion I came to was that if I had an object in an array that told Core Data I was "using" that object and Core Data would hold on to the data. Is this correct?

  Hi! I have setup subversion 1.6.5 on Fedora. I have decided to use a single repository for multiple projects. I have added one project, projA, to the repository. I will have more projects to add to the repository in future. If I try to add next project with the command 'svn import . file:///path/to/repos' gives svn: File already exists: filesystem '/usr/local/svn-repos/proj-test/db', transa ction '1-1', path '/trunk'. The new projB is being added to the trunk directory of projA. I have read the section "Adding Projects" in http://svnbook.red-bean.com/en/1.1/ch05s04.html In that book, projects are added at once. But,I would like to add them one by one as new projects become ready to go. What is the proper command and/or how that can be done? Thanks. Banani

  Hi, I'm writing a Maven plugin that merges CSS files together. So all the CSS files that match /foo/bar/*.css might get merged to /foo/merged.css. A concern is that in a file such as /foo/bar/baz.css there might be a property such as: background: url("images/pic.jpg") So when the file is merged into /foo/merged.css this will need to be changed to background: url("bar/images/pic.jpg") The recalculated URL obviously depends on 3 factors: original URL original CSS file location merged CSS file location Assuming that the original and merged CSS files are both on the same filesystem, is there a general formula (or Java library) that can be used to calculate the new url given these 3 inputs? • Handling of data truncation (short reads/writes) in FUSE

  I expect any good program should do all their reads and writes in a loop until all data written/read without relying that write will write everything (even with regular files). Am I right? Implemented simple FUSE filesystem which only allows reading and writing with small buffers, very often returning that it is written less bytes that in a buffer (using -o direct_io). Some programs work, some not (notably mountlo). Are them buggy or programs should not expect truncated writes and reads from the regular files? In general, are seekable file descriptors expected to truncate data like sockets and pipes?

• Can NTFS-Search(An OSS project) scan any file on NTFS volume?

  I want to apply NTFS-Search to our project. Our project have to find the files which we specified.(fast and exactly!) But I'm not sure the program(NTFS-Search) works well. What if the file specified is system file? What if the file is being opened by a process with NO_READ_SHARE_MODE? Do you think NTFS-Search can find any files? I don't know about NTFS filesystem well. • Is there a database with git-like qualities?

  I'm looking for a database where multiple users can contribute and commit new data; other users can then pull that data into their own database repository, all in a git-like manner. A transcriptional database, if you like; does such a thing exist? My current thinking is to dump the database to a single file as SQL, but that could well get unwieldy once it is of any size. Another option is to dump the database and use the filesystem, but again it gets unwieldy once of any size.

• UIDocumentInteractionController change title of presented view

  I am using the UIDocumentInteractionController to display pdf files. My files are stored in the filesystem using encoded filenames that are not user-friendly. I do have access to a more friendly name for the file, but the file is not stored with this name (for uniqueness reasons). When I load the document into the UIDocumentInteractionController then the view displays the unfriendly 'real' filename in the titlebar. Is there any way to change the displayed title as presented by the UIDocumentInteractionController? Thanks.

• Netbeans has Realy Bad FTP support , Forces me to download all Files even before I can continue

  Hello Friends , have started using Netbeans recently after using Aptana, phpdesigner and Notepad++ . I love Netbeans for it's speed and it has almost everything I want except for the fact that the FTP support is really Bad. To start working on a FTP server , I have to download all the files to my localhost first which is such a waste of bandwidth & if those files are many ie. 1000+ files then it's really annoying . I have tried mounting remote FTP as local filesystem in Windows and then using Netbeans to access it but that does'nt work out too .. If anybody using netbeans a lot for PHP development can guide me on this , then I would be highly obliged.. this trivial problem is keeping me from using this awesome IDE . Thanks & Regards .

• Web service URL being overwritten with localhost

  I have a reference to a web service on a remote server like such... http://10.5.1.121/PersonifyWebServicePPROD/UniversalWebService/default.wsdl The moment I invoke the web service and view its URL property it looks like... http://localhost/PersonifyWebServicePPROD/UniversalWebService/default.asmx Can anyone tell me why it's overwriting the remote server with localhost? The vendor that provided the web service said I have to reference the wsdl and not the asmx in order for it to work. I've tried running it both within IIS and as a web app on the filesystem and neither scenario work. This is on the .Net 3.5 framework.

• Controlling a browser from Python

  I am looking for a way to control a browser from Python, i.e. fill out form fields and submit them, possibly call JS functions. I've looked around a bit, but as far as I could see PyWebKitGtk only lets you show the browser as a GUI element, not interface with it. Is there a way to do this easily? I wrote my program logic in Python, and I would hate to port it to JS. Besides that, even if I'd use pure JS "bookmarklets", those wouldn't be able to read/write to my local filesystem, would they? P.S. to quell your suspicions, I'm not trying to automatically fill out forum account creation forms or something similarly spammious, though the task is technically similar. I need to crawl/scrape sites for my research project.

• How can I emulate forward on 404 in jersey?

  I have a picture on a given URL. The picture might need a referesh. I want to do the freshness-check at the time of the request. Therefore, I coded a jersey resource handling the request on the picture URL. It refreshes the picture on the filesystem if necessary. I do not want to re-code a caching mechansim, but rely on tomcat's implementation. Therefore, I would like to "forward" the request in the internal handler chain. I tried return new Viewable(sb.toString());, but a viewable is not a picture. What return type can I use? I could let the concrete picture reside on another URL and send a 307 (Temporary Redirect).
