• How do I POST/GET from rails to API with Nestful?

  Hi, this is a pretty basic question but I'm not entirely clear how to do this. I am trying to use a third-party service that has web-based service. The service is called Postful. But I'm not clear what exactly to do? I've looked at ActiveResource (http://api.rubyonrails.org/classes/ActiveResource/Base.html) and rest-client, but I'm still not clear exactly what steps, code, and files to create. • Positioning / Scrolling problem with Flex popup.

  Hi all, I'm trying to work out a specific problem I'm having with positioning in Flex using the PopUpManager. Basically I'm wanting to create a popup which will scroll with the parent container - this is necessary because the parent container is large and if the user's browser window isn't large enough (this will be the case the majority of the time) - they will have to use the scrollbar of the container to scroll down. If i have it display the workingString, it correctly displays the entire string, but for some reason, it isn't correctly making the array using the commas. i tried it without using the data file and it worked fine, so the problem comes from how I am importing the data. ideas?

• Is it possible to convert a 40-character SHA1 hash to a 20-character SHA1 hash?

  My problem is a bit hairy, and I may be asking the wrong questions, so please bear with me... I have a legacy MySQL database which stores the user passwords & salts for a membership system. Both of these values have been hashed using the Ruby framework - roughly like this: hashedsalt = Digest::SHA1.hexdigest("--#{Time.now.to_s}--#{login}--") hashedpassword = Digest::SHA1.hexdigest("#{hashedsalt}:#{password}") So both values are stored as 40-character strings (varchar(40)) in MySQL. Now I need to import all of these users into the ASP.NET membership framework for a new web site, which uses a SQL Server database. It is my understanding that the the way I have ASP.NET membership configured, the user passwords and salts are also stored in the membership database (in table aspnet_Membership) as SHA1 hashes, which are then Base64 encoded (see here for details) and stored as nvarchar(128) data. But from the length of the Base64 encoded strings that are stored (28 characters) it seems that the SHA1 hashes that ASP.NET membership generates are only 20 characters long, rather than 40. From some other reading I have been doing I am thinking this has to do with the number of bits per character/character set/encoding or something related. So is there some way to convert the 40-character SHA1 hashes to 20-character hashes which I can then transfer to the new ASP.NET membership data table? I'm pretty familiar with ASP.NET membership by now but I feel like I'm just missing this one piece. However, it may also be known that SHA1 in Ruby and SHA1 in .NET are incompatible, so I'm fighting a losing battle... Thanks in advance for any insight.

  Am using Checkbox as ItemRenderer in tilelist. Am trying to setting checkbox selected values through xml. I got the values perfectly.. but checkbox could not bind the values(could not accept that). It's automatically sets true for all checkboxes. • RSS feed created with PHP only shows the title in the feed reader

  I am using the following PHP code to generate the XML for an RSS feed, but it doesn't seem to be working correctly. No short description is displayed in the feed reader, all I see is the title of the article. Also, all of the articles say they were published at the same time.   I need to create program that creates a XML schema like below using System.Xml.XmlSchema namespace I'm using the XmlSchemaComplexType to MyString and MyInteger but I can't seem to find a way to set the extension to base string and int respectively. • Bad crypto error in .NET 4.0

  Today I moved my web application to .net 4.0 and Forms Auth just stopped working. After several hours of digging into my SqlMembershipProvider (simplified version of built-in SqlMembershipProvider), I found that HMACSHA256 hash is not consistent.   Hi, Just trying to get the new API for the goo.gl URL shortening service working on my iPhone, following the instructions on http://code.google.com/apis/urlshortener/v1/getting_started.html I'm set up and the API is enabled etc., but when I send a request in the recommended format: POST https://www.googleapis.com/urlshortener/v1/url Content-Type: application/json {"longUrl": "http://www.google.com/"} I get an error returned. The error is exactly the one listed on that page in the errors section for if you haven't passed in a longURL param. This makes me think that I'm not setting up the body of the POST request properly. Here's the code if you have any pointers... • Implementing parts of rfc4226 (HOTP) in mysql

  Like the title says, I'm trying to implement the programmatic parts of RFC4226 "HOTP: An HMAC-Based One-Time Password Algorithm" in SQL. I think I've got a version that works (in that for a small test sample, it produces the same result as the Java version in the code), but it contains a nested pair of hex(unhex()) calls, which I feel can be done better. I am constrained by a) needing to do this algorithm, and b) needing to do it in mysql, otherwise I'm happy to look at other ways of doing this. What I've got so far: -- From the inside out... -- Concatinate the users secret, and the number of time its been used -- find the SHA1 hash of that string -- Turn a 40 byte hex encoding into a 20 byte binary string -- keep the first 4 bytes -- turn those back into a hex represnetation -- convert that into an integer -- Throw away the most-significant bit (solves signed/unsigned problems) -- Truncate to 6 digits -- store into otp -- from the otpsecrets table select (conv(hex(substr(unhex(sha1(concat(secret, uses))), 1, 4)), 16, 10) & 0x7fffffff) % 1000000 into otp from otpsecrets; Is there a better (more efficient) way of doing this?
