  • How to use SSL3 instead of TLS in a particular HttpWebRequest?

    My application has to talk to different hosts over https, and the default setting of ServicePointManager.SecurityProtocol = TLS served me well up to this day. Now I have some hosts which (as System.Net trace log shows) don't answer the initial TLS handshake message but keep the underlying connection open until it times out, throwing a timeout exception. I tried setting HttpWebRequest's timeout to as much as 5mins, with the same result. Presumably these hosts are waiting for an SSL3 handshake since both IE and Firefox are able to connect to these hosts after a 30-40 seconds' delay. There seems to be some fallback mechanism in .NET which degrades TLS to SSL3, but it doesn't kick in for some reason.   • Problem in IE8 with GET Parameters in opening a new windows with javascript.

    Hi, I have a problem with IE8 and the opening of a new window with javascript and submitting parameters with special characters. <a href="javascript:oWin('/html/de/4664286/printregistrationcontent.html?12-security question&#61;Wie hei&#223;t Ihr Lieblingsrestaurant','PRINT',800,600);" class="print">Seite drucken</a> The Problem is the letter 'ß' (sharp S). As you can see the string above is encodes due to anti XSS. This link works in FF and IE6 but IE8 is transmitting the URL Parameter as character with code 65*** (don't know the exaxt value). In the opening window you will only see a square (because character with 65000+ is not printable). I also tried to use URL Encoding instead of HTML encoding <a href="javascript:oWin('/html/de/4664286/printregistrationcontent.html?12-security question%3DWie hei%C3%9Ft Ihr Lieblingsrestaurant','PRINT',800,600);" class="print">Seite drucken</a> If i click on this Link in FF or IE6 it works as expected, but IE8 will fail to transmit the "ß" to the server and therefor will also get it back in the wrong way. If i paste this url to the IE8 it will work too, but not if the window is opened by javascript.   • 3x3 Sobel operator and gradient features

    Reading a paper, I'm having difficulty understanding the algorithm described: Given a black and white digital image of a handwriting sample, cut out a single character to analyze. Since this can be any size, the algorithm needs to take this into account (if it will be easier, we can assume the size is 2^n x 2^m). Now, the description states given this image we will convert it to a 512-bit feature (a 512-bit hash) as follows: (192 bits) computes the gradient of the image by convolving it with a 3x3 Sobel operator. The direction of the gradient at every edge is quantized to 12 directions. (192 bits) The structural feature generator takes the gradient map and looks in a neighborhood for certain combinations of gradient values. (used to compute 8 distinct features that represent lines and corners in the image) (128 bits) Concavity generator uses an 8-point star operator to find coarse concavities in 4 directions, holes, and lagrge-scale strokes. The image feature maps are normalized with a 4x4 grid. I'm for now struggling with how to take an arbitrary image, split into 16 sections, and using a 3x3 Sobel operator to come up with 12 bits for each section.   • OCS presence in SharePoint AJAX-based web part

    I'm currently implementing AJAX-based web part which displays search result. This search result has user names and opposite to each name I'm rendering the OCS presence indicator. This indicator works fine in IE6 but I can't get it to work in IE7/8. Basically the problem in IE7/8 is that OCS is rendered but when you mouse over it nothing is shown. If you try to scroll page down then mouse over the OCS icon you will see the OCS actions menu in the bottom of the page instead of seeing it on the opposite to the user name. My AJAX-based web part uses jQuery post method to make a request to the server and receives json which is then rendered to the div.   • Convert.ToDateTime causes FormatException on afternoon date/time values

    We have an application parsing date/time values in the following format: 2009-10-10 09:19:12.124 2009-10-10 12:13:14.852 2009-10-10 13:00:00 2009-10-10 15:23:32.022 One particular server all of the sudden (today) started failing to parse any times 13:00:00 or later. This particular client has five servers and only one has the problem. We have dozens of other clients with a total of hundreds of servers without the problem. System.FormatException: String was not recognized as a valid DateTime. at System.DateTimeParse.Parse(String s, DateTimeFormatInfo dtfi, DateTimeStyles styles) at System.DateTime.Parse(String s, IFormatProvider provider) at System.Convert.ToDateTime(String value, IFormatProvider provider) at System.String.System.IConvertible.ToDateTime(IFormatProvider provider) at System.Convert.ToDateTime(Object value) I ran a test using DateTime.Parse(s, CultureInfo.CurrentCulture) comapred to DateTime.Parse(s, CultureInfo.InvariantCulture) and the problem only shows up with CurrentCulture. However, CurrentCulture is "en-US" just like all the other servers and there's nothing different that I can find in regional or language settings. Has anyone seen this before? Suggestions related to what I can look into? EDIT: Thank you for the answers so far. However, I'm looking for suggestions on what configuration to look into that could have caused this to suddenly change behavior and stop working when it's worked for years and works on hundreds of other servers. I've already changed it for the next version, but I'm looking for a configuration change to fix this in the interim for the current installation.

    I have a very simple camel route. It starts with a CXF Endpoint exposed as a web service. I then want to convert it to xml and call a method on a bean. Currently i'm getting a CXF specific object after the web service call. How do I take my serialized object out of the CXF MessageList and use it going forward?   • Parameterized Queries /Without/ using queries.

    I've got a bit of a poor situation here. I'm stuck working with commerce server, which doesn't do a whole lot of sanitization/parameterization. I'm trying to build up my queries to prevent SQL Injection, however some things like the searches / where clause on the search object need to be built up, and there's no parameterized interface. Basically, I cannot parameterize, however I was hoping to be able to use the same engine to BUILD my query text if possible. Is there a way to do this, aside from writing my own parameterizing engine which will probably still not be as good as parameterized queries? Update: Example The where clause has to be built up as a sql query where clause essentially: CatalogSearch search = /// Create Search object from commerce server search.WhereClause = string.Format("[cy_list_price] > {0} AND [Hide] is not NULL AND [DateOfIntroduction] BETWEEN '{1}' AND '{2}'", 12.99m, DateTime.Now.AddDays(-2), DateTime.Now); *Above Example is how you refine the search, however we've done some testing, this string is NOT SANITIZED. This is where my problem lies, because any of those inputs in the .Format could be user input, and while i can clean up my input from text-boxes easily, I'm going to miss edge cases, it's just the nature of things. I do not have the option here to use a parameterized query because Commerce Server has some insane backwards logic in how it handles the extensible set of fields (schema) & the free-text search words are pre-compiled somewhere.   • Automation Error upon running VBA script in Excel

    Hi guys, I'm getting an Automation error upon running VBA code in Excel 2007. I'm attempting to connect to a remote SQL Server DB and load data to from Excel to SQL Server. The error I get is, "Run-time error '-2147217843(80040e4d)': Automation error". I checked out the MSDN site and it suggested that this may be due to a bug associated with the sqloledb provider and one way to mitigate this is to use ODBC. Well I changed the connection string to reflect ODBC provider and associated parameters and I'm still getting the same error.   • Numeric Order By In Transact SQL (Ordering As String Instead Of Int)

    I have an issue where I am trying to order a result set by what I believe to be a numberic column in my database. However when I get the result set, It has sorted the column as if it was a string (So alphabetically), instead of sorting it as an int. As an example. I have these numbers, 1 , 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 11 When I order by in Transact SQL, I get back : 1, 10, 11, 2, 3, 4, 5 I had the same issue with Datagridview's a while back, And the issue was because of the sorting being done as if it was a string. I assume the same thing is happening here.     I am working on a project using Groovy, and I would like to take an array of employees, so that no manager follows their subordinates in the array. The reason being that I need to add people to a database and I would prefer not to do it in two passes. So, I basically have: <employees> <employee> <employeeid>12</employeeid> <manager>3</manager> </employee> <employee> <employeeid>1</employeeid> <manager></manager> </employee> <employee> <employeeid>3</employeeid> <manager>1</manager> </employee> </employees> So, it should be sorted as such: employeeid = 1 employeeid = 3 employeeid = 12 The first person should have a null for managers. I am thinking about a binary tree representation, but I expect it will be very unbalanced, and I am not certain the best way to do this using Groovy properly. Is there a way to do this that isn't going to involve using nested loops?

  • Yacc and Lex inclusion confusion

    I am wondering how to correctly compile a program with a Makefile that has calls to yyparse in it? This is what I do: I have a Makefile that compiles all my regular files and they have no connections to y.tab.c or lex.yy.c (Am I supposed to have them?) I do this on top of my code: #include "y.tab.c" #include "lex.yy.c" #include "y.tab.h" This is what happens when I try to make the program: When I just type in "make", it gives me many warnings. Some of the examples are shown below. In function yywrap': /src/parser.y:12: multiple definition ofyywrap' server.o :/src/parser.y:12: first defined here utils.o: In function yyparse': /src/y.tab.c:1175: multiple definition ofyyparse' server.o:/src/y.tab.c:1175: first defined here utils.o I get many different errors referring to different yy_* files. I have compiled successfully with multiple calls to yyparse in the past, but this time seems to be different. It seems an awful lot like an inclusion problem somewhere but I can't tell what it is. If i manually set the foreign key to ON_UPDATE CASCADE it does work. Why does doctrine not set this option? I got it to work in Propel, but i really want to use doctrine for this.

  • VBScript Catching Erroring Varialble Value

    I have a VB Script (.vbs file) that is just a simple directory listing of a drive. It will the base of a drive back up script. But when running it as it is below, I am getting a Permission Denied error on some folder. What I need to find is what that folder is so I can figure out what the problem is with the folder. The line that is giving the error is "For Each TempFolder In MoreFolders". So what I am trying to figure out is how to WScript.Echo the current path (objDirectory) if there is an error. I am not sure if it matters much, but just in case, the error that I am getting is Permission Denied 800A0046 on line 12. So some folder, I do not know which one, is not letting me look inside.
