• anonymous access disabled but...

  My web app (asp VB 2005) uses Windows authentication. If the user isn't part of a specific AD security group they don't get to edit the data; instead I redirect the user to a read-only page. The program works fine in the IDE. I published the web app to my laptop and Disabled anonymous access. When I ran the program I got redirected to the read-only page. I added a write event to the application event log to see what was going on, and found that the WindowsPrincipal.Identity.Name contained my laptop's ID, not my user name. I reassert: anonymous access is disabled in IIS and the web.config file has Windows Authentication. Can anyone suggest what else to check? Or can you explain what's going on?

• Can Symfony simply reload a page request?

  I have an app that receives a request from another app. It detects a value on the query string, checks that value against a cached value and, if they don't match, it needs to clear its cache and reload the page (establishing a new cache). Unfortunately, I can't find a way to tell Symfony to redirect to the current page in exactly the same format (protocol, URI path, query string, etc.). What am I missing? This is all happening in a filter on isFirstCall(). Thanks.

• How to track different button clicks with Google Analytics and AJAX?

  I have several pages, let's call them A, B and C. Each of these pages has a form where the user can type in some information and click a button to send those information to the server. This button click is performed in an UpdatePanel to prevent a full postback. A customer of ours now wants to know how many % of the using visiting each site (A, B and C have different URLs) use this form. (Meaning I need seperate values for A, B and C) How to I track this in Google Analytics? It seems that I have to create a conversion(??) for each page. Is that correct? How must I modify the existing web application to let Google Analytics know, that a user submitted the form. (without the need to redirect thank to xy amount of different thank you pages) The only piece of information I've found so far is this: http://www.google.com/support/googleanalytics/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=55519 Unfortunately, this FAQ entry does not cover my answer.

  Hi, I've just started to play around with MVP in asp.net. One thing I quite cant figure out is how do I pass information, i.e. an integer variable from one view(webform) to another. Let's I have a customerlistView which is mapped to a customerlist.aspx page. From it I select a customer and it's record id. Say I want to display the customer's details in another view (i.e customerDetailView, customerdetail.aspx). How do I achieve that ? Does that mean customerlistView would call the presenter of the customerdetail and cause a page redirect ? Any ideas ? thanks

  How can I open a web-page and receive its cookies using PHP? The motivation: I am trying to use feed43 to create an RSS feed from the non-RSS-enabled HighLearn website (remote learning website). I found the web-page that contains the feed contents I need to parse, however, it requires to login first. Luckily, logging in can be done via a GET request so it's as easy as fopen()ing "http://highlearn.website/login_page.asp?userID=foo&password=bar" for example. But I still need to get the cookies generated when I logged in, pass the cookies to the real client (using setcookie() maybe?) and then redirect.

• Using JS to POST a form in an iframe.

  I would like to POST a form in an iframe, generated like so: My JS loads an iframe inside the page, adds a form to the iframe and submits the form. What I would like to happen is the iframe to load the result of that request. So, I would effectively like to post a form and render the result inside the iframe, without touching the parent (apart from putting the iframe up for display in the first place). I am using the code from this answer: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/133925/javascript-post-request-like-a-form-submit/134003#134003 but I can't get it to not reload the parent. I post the form, and instead of the iframe refreshing, the entire parent refreshes. I don't know why that is, since the url it's posting to is different and would at least redirect there. Can anyone help me with this problem? I just want a post inside an iframe and only within the iframe, basically.

  I'm using Hibernate validator 4.1 to validate my entity. I have a dashboard that I can access from the action : viewDashboard.   I've a controller :platform here. I'm trying to do something like: /:platform_name/ to redirect to its show, with the parameter. Here is what I've got: map.resource :platform, :as => ':platform_name', :platform_name => /pc|ps2|ps3|wii|ds|psp|xbox-360/ It's working fine. I've other neasted resources to it, and all them are accessing. But. The problem is, I've only those platform names, but when it doesnt fine another route, it aways fall on this. if I try /whatever/, it will look for the *platform_name = whatever*. I was expecting it to fall into the map.connect ':controller/:action/:id' rule. When I did *:platform_name = /pc|ps2|ps3|wii|ds|psp|xbox-360/*, wasnt expected that this rule only apply when the regular expression is fit? how could i restrict this?

• Redirecting user from an old web to another in Sharepoint

  Hi all: I want to add the ability to redirect users when they visit certain old sites. The URL of the old sites are unknown, but the server name is the same, e.g. Old site url: http://sharepoint/mySite/default.aspx New site url: http://sharepoint/myNewSite/... There are a lot of other pages within mySite, most of which must be redirected to the new site, but there are exceptions (e.g. user can still view the documents within the site). I thought I have to do this programmatically by somehow capturing the http request and read the url myself. Being no sharepoint guru, I had a quick google, and found that writing a web part is prehaps the best alternative for my situation. But I'm just wondering, given my situation and needs, is writing a web part, or something programmatically, really the ideal solution? Or is there a faster and quicker way to achieve what I want using Sharepoint? Thanks.

• OpenID token from Google (using www)?

  I've come across the following situation when using OpenID and Google as the authenticator. If you type siteName.com it takes you to http://sitename.com Which returns a different token than if I were to login to www.siteName.com, which would take me to http://www.siteName.com As a result, Google returns a different authentication token. Is there a simple fix around this? Maybe redirect the user from siteName.com to www.siteName.com? Would this be a server issue, or is this something I can do programmatically? Thanks in advance for any answers, this question had plagued me for some time now as I just figured out why others had been receiving different credentials upon logging in.

  I know in the Manuel it says that the header has to be the first thing in a script, but how come I see some codes where header("Location: member.php?id=$username") is in a if-statement? • My site not directing links correctly.

  I have a site at http://badassmonkeys.com/ and when i click any of the links it does not direct it to the actual page but still pulls up the link. For some reason it works perfectly on linux cpanel and actually loads the pages, but on windows in apache, or in IIS even with a rewrite mod for it, it just doesnt work. The links dont go correctly. Is it a php.ini setting? This is my htaccess file if curious, but it works perfect in linux, but not on windows.... • Why isnt php reading my cookie?

  at index.php i have a form to fill out some settings. the form posts to setsettings.php at setsettings.php it uses the form data and sets some cookies and redirect back to index.php. if i print_r($_COOKIE) at setsettings.php all is well. but nothing comes up at index.php, the $_COOKIE array is empty :( Does somebody know how i go about solving this? • Asp.net mvc 2 and twitter authenticaton

  I am using OAuth (linq2twitter and DotNetOpenAuth) to allow a user to post comments via their twitter account. So when you do the authorization twitter does a callback, so the way linq2twitter does it is to set the callback to the page that did the req. So if the req came from blah.com\twit it will redirect to blah.com\twit. This leads me to have code like this: public ActionResult Twit(){ var qString = Request.QueryString; if (qString.Count <= 0){ //do authorization } else{ //do authentication } } So I would like to split it to this(seemingly both of these calls are done via GET): public ActionResult Twit(){} public ActionResult Twit(string token1, string token2){} When I have this currently I get the .net yellow screen complaining about ambiguous action methods. How do I route this?

  We're using the fb:registration plugin to sign up users on our site. Today I noticed the registration redirect is no longer working in Google Chrome and Safari (latest public release). I know for sure it was working with the same code as recently as last week. It seems to be getting stuck on submission with this error, which is coming from: static.ak.fbcdn.net/rsrc.php/v1/ys/r/ioE9qOq_5Oa.js:101 Firefox and IE have no problem, so it seems to be Webkit specific. Any ideas?

• Access Rules created by WSAT are not enforced

  Hi, I'm trying to implement roles in my site. There are several projects in the solution, one of which is a web application. In that web application, I'm trying to use WSAT to create three roles. There are many folders for the application. I've used WSAT to define role based access rules for each folder. However, when I debug and navigate to those pages, they do not redirect to a login and show me the protected page. There are web.config files in each folder. Why would the system not enforce these rules? My web.config file has: I've tested the connections in WSAT and they work. Any ideas?

  I have an ASP.NET website, but this question isn't really about technology, it is rather about practice. Should we log our 404 errors? My reasoning: This is a potential vulnerable point because a simple unfriendly user may fill up your hard drive in no time just by requesting wrong URLs! Some browsers often request resources up front - like for example favicon.ico, even if its not there. This is really annoying. But really I would like to know about a broken link if there exists one in my websites. Should I depend on the URL referrer? The problem with the URL referrer is that I cannot distinguish my internal redirect which may be broken with an unfriendly one from outside. What does the practice suggest?

• Perl : how to interrupt/resume loop by user hitting a key?

  Hi all: This is for debugging purpose. I've got a for loop that generates some output to Cygwin bash's CLI. I know that I can redirect outputs to text files and use Perl or even just a normal text editor to inspect the values printed out for a particular iteration, just feel that a bit painful. What I am now thinking is, to place a special subroutine inside the for loop, so that it would be "interrupted" at the beginning of each iteration, and Perl script should only resume to run after user/programmer hits a key(the Enter Key from keyboard?) In this way I can directly inspect the values printed out during each iteration. Is there a simple way to do this, without using additional libraries/CPAN ? • nginx improperly forwards to https, adds two trailing slashes when rewriting

  I'm using nginx as a proxy for a django project on mod_wsgi and to serve the static content. I have two domain names for it: asdf-example.com and asdfexample.com. I want to use rewrites to redirect everything to www.asdf-example.com They're not quite working the way they should: asdf-example.com forwards to https:// www.asdf-example.com, which fails because I'm not using SSL. Though asdf-example.com/search forwards to http://.... asdfexample.com and www.asdfexample.com both forward to www.asdf-example.com//, which looks weird. • When to override OnError?

  I'm looking into re-working and simplifying our error handling in an application I support. We currently have all of our pages inheriting from a base class we created, which in turn obviously inherits from System.Web.UI.Page. Within this base class, the OnError method is currently being overridden, and in turn calling MyBase.OnError, and then calling one of our custom logging methods. I don't see any benefit of overriding the OnError method, and I think it would be better to let the Application_Error method in the Global.asax take care of the unhandled exception (logging it) and then the customErrors section in the config would trigger a process to redirect the user. Looking online it looks like people override this method quite frequently, but I don't see a need to and this article from MSDN makes me think the same.

• ajax/jquery disables links after submit

  i am working on this form. i am using lightbox and dhtml fade effects. the content in my lightbox is a form. i am using jquery to validate the form. once the form is submitted, i redirect a user back to a thank you page. what i am noticing is that, once all the above events has taken place, i cannot click anywhere on my screen, all the links/buttons are sort of disable. i need to press F5 to refresh the page to be able to click anywhere on the page again? is this happening because i am using jquery validation and an events already took place, how do i resolve this as i am a newbie to jquery. thanks

• Show UIView for app presentation only once in iOS

  I need to show an UIScrollView with some pages for present the app to user when launched for the first time. My slides are working correctly, lefting the logic to present it. Is a good practice to set the UIScrollViewController as root controller and set a NSUserDefault variable to control the presentation and redirect to main controller or set the main ViewController as root normally and call the presentation view if needed is a better approach? If there is a better way to do this can someone help? Thanks.

• RewriteCond to change displayed host, but not server

  Typing out the title to this leads me to believe this might not be possible due to security concerns, but I will ask anyway. I have shortcode support running on my server, lets call it xx.yy I want it so when a user sends a request to xx.yy, it just changes the displayed host to another valid domain running on the same box. I have this so far (lets the server know to accept requests from xx.yy): RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^.*xx.yy [NC] RewriteRule ^/(.*)$ http://127.0.0.1:<PORT_OMITTED>%{REQUEST_URI} [P,QSA,L] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^.*mysite.com [NC] RewriteRule ^/(.*)$ http://127.0.0.1:<PORT_OMITTED>%{REQUEST_URI} [P,QSA,L] It works, and it directs the traffic into my app, but the url says http://xx.yy when I would rather it say http://mysite.com I know i could redirect to http://mysite.com instead of 127.0.0.1, but I have 4 parallel boxes of mysite.com and going back out to DNS to maybe go to another box seems like a waste when I am already here. Also, I am not sure how POST requests would work like that. What can I do?
