• How do I specify both icons for a universal iPhone/iPad app?

  I hope to create a single app that supports both the iPhone and the iPad. The app works in the simulator for both devices as desired. Now I'm trying to build and deploy it. I set the "Icon File" in the plist to the 57x57 .png image and when I build and try to submit the app ItunesConnect complains about needing a 72x72 .png image for the iPad. If I specify the "Icon File" to the 72x72 .png ItunesConnect complains about needing a 57x57 image for the iPhone. How do I specify both icons in a single plist?

• Can I change my Universal App to an iPad-only app without creating a new project in XCode?

  Hi there, I've created an iPad game using the Universal App Xcode template. Since I'm in late with the iPhone/iPod Touch branch of the app, I've decided to submit the app only for iPad and to update the app to universal in a second time. Question: Do I have to create a new iPad project and copy there all the code and stuff, or can I simply change the deployment target to iPad only and I'm done? I simply want to be accepted and to avoid iPhone users to be allowed to download the game erroneously. Thank you!

• How to tell if there is an available thread in a thread pool in java

  I am trying to proccess a queue of tasks from a database table as fast as possible while also limiting the number of threads to process the tasks. I am using a fixed sized thread pool with Executors.newFixedThreadPool(N); I want to know if there is a way of knowing if the thread pool is full, by that I mean are there currently 50 threads running, if so then I'll wait for a thread to be available before starting a new one instead of sleeping the main thread.   There are many forms in my page. I want to merge them in one object and submit them in one object. But I find serializeArray() or serialize() do not match my request, the serializeArray function will generate a array object and serialize is used by get model, it is not an object. is there a jquery or local function can merge them in one object. I have one solution but it is not perfect, loop the array object generated by serializeArray, use $.extend to merge them in one object. is there a better method? kindly help, thanks.

• Comparing large strings in JavaScript with a hash

  I have a form with a textarea that can contain large amounts of content (say, articles for a blog) edited using one of a number of third party rich text editors. I'm trying to implement something like an autosave feature, which should submit the content through ajax if it's changed. However, I have to work around the fact that some of the editors I have as options don't support an "isdirty" flag, or an "onchange" event which I can use to see if the content has changed since the last save. So, as a workaround, what I'd like to do is keep a copy of the content in a variable (let's call it lastSaveContent), as of the last save, and compare it with the current text when the "autosave" function fires (on a timer) to see if it's different. However, I'm worried about how much memory that could take up with very large documents. Would it be more efficient to store some sort of hash in the lastSaveContent variable, instead of the entire string, and then compare the hash values? If so, can you recommend a good javascript library/jquery plugin that implements an appropriate hash for this requirement?

  I'm currently building a web application that can can track a users actions on a particular website and pop a URL if the user takes certain actions, such as: first click, responding to a question by clicking yes / no, clicking a submit button, or exiting the site. It is important that these URLs are served to the user and are not blocked by pop-up blockers. It is my understanding that there are certain exceptions within the major internet browsers that allow pop-ups if they are served based on some user action, rather than serving an unsolicited pop? Is this true? How do I design this web application so that it can serve these pops (and not have them blocked).

• Site works perfect in Mozilla but not in IE. Is my js file not compatible with IE

  I'm working on a site written in PHP/MySQL. We have a form to reserve time on a calendar and it works great in Mozilla and stores the reservation to our database, but in IE you fill out the form and when you click the "Reserve" button to submit it and nothing happens. All I can think of is that my javascript is not working with IE. I have these lines in my .js file: resLenT = document.getElementById(resLenElem); resLenI = resLenT.selectedIndex; resLen = resLenI + 1; where resLenElem is a drop-down box. These are the only lines that I can think of at the moment that might be causing trouble in IE. Does this all sound like I'm on the right track or am I way off base?

• Want to 'sandbox' user form submitted HTML

  Hi all. I have a user form with a textarea that allows users to submit html formatted data. The html itself is limited by PHP strip_tags, but of course that does no completion checking etc. My basic problem is that should a user leave a tag unclosed, such as the tag, then all the content following that, including page content that follows that is 'outside' the user content display area, could now be malformed. Checking for proper tag completion is one solution I will look at, but ideally I'd like to firewall the user htmlified content away from the rest of the site somehow. Any suggestions on the best approach? Thanks!

Something like: http://www.othersite.com/submitfunnyname?name=blah The other site (othersite.com) has a REST interface that you can call (well actually this is a get example) to submit a funny name to them. Can I do this already with javascript? I'm a little confused on this - I know if that service wants to return some data, I'd need to use something like JSON-P - even though here I'm submitting some data, I guess the service will return some message structure letting me know the result, so it would have to be JSON-P, right?   in my code i have done something like this. $.get('/Home/Module/Submit', { moduleName: ModName, moduleParameters: moduleParameters }, function(result) { $("#" + target).html(result); }); when i put alert in the function(result) {..} it shows html perfectly(both in alert and at the 'target'-on the .aspx page) BUT when i remove the alert.. on the page the 'html' don't appear or appear randomly (this method is called multiple times) i think that the 'result' comes to function asynchronously thats why it is not bind with the respective 'div' however in the last iteration it gets bind every time. can we make process stop until data gets bind? or is there any functionality (like alert) which can make data bind.. without disturbing UI (unlike alert)?

• mysql_real_escape_string & slashes (again, oh yes)

  Righto, firstly magic quotes & runtime are disabled correctly in php.ini, and confirmed by phpinfo(). PHP version: 5.3.4 MySQL version: 5.1.52 I'm only use mysql_real_escape_string on the data, after htmlspecialchars and a trim, that's all the data cleaning on the variable. Yet, when I submit a single quote, the slash remains in the database. When running mysql_query I'm using "' . $var . '", although in the past this hasn't changed anything (could be due to the double quotes?). Any ideas? and please don't tell me about PDO/prepared statements, I'm aware of them and I have my reasons for doing it this way. Thanks!

• File upload with tdo-miniforms not working

  I am using the TDO-miniforms plugin for wordpress. I have a form set up that lets the user submit files. The files are successfully uploaded to the tmp-folder, but once the post is created they are not copied into the allocated post folder. The only thing that is created in the folder with a post id is a file called array. It seems like the file holds the binary data of the uploaded files. The “correct” urls are appended to the post content I am running wordpress 2.9.2 on snow leopard using Mamp.

• Is there a way to delete a form element without using jQuery .remove()?

  Using .remove() so that the select all check box is not submitted to the server. However, it is visible to the user as the select all checkbox is "physically" removed from the web page, upon submit. Instead, I would like removing the select all check box to appear seamless but NOT on the server side. i.e. - I would like to keep the input on the page but remove the element in the form array before it is sent. Can I manipulate the element[] array of the form before it is sent to the server and delete it there? Thank you.

• Firefox running infinitely even after condition met in jquery function

  The following function is called with setTimeout(function () { get_progress(fileID,fileName)},8000); upon a form submit. The purpose of the function is to get read_file.php to read a txt file that stores the file upload status from a form (in percentage). Upon reaching 80%, my Firefox seems to run infinitely even when HEAD returns an error.   Here's a situation which I have encountered, creating a form on the client side and using PHP to process. Here are some considerations The PHP script generates the form and send to the client side. This is because of internationalization issues The client side uses JavaScript to submit form; the ID of the form is hard-coded inside the JavaScript as it is generated by PHP. This means everytime the PHP code is updated, the JS must change. The question here is, who should be dependent on who? Should the JS generate the form instead, so that the PHP script has to know the names of the form elements? OR should it be the other way round?
