• How to implement a Google-chrome-like title bar for Java SWT application

  I have inherited development of a Java/SWT application running on Windows only. One of the feature requests that I need to scope is a Google-chrome-type title bar in place of the SWT windows title bar. The application's tabs appear at the same level as the window control buttons. My understanding is that I will need to: write a Windows widget capable of rendering the custom look and managing tabs as opposed to menus. expose the Windows widget as a dll for use in Java via JNI write a custom SWT widget to wrap it and expose the tab management interface. I have a lot of experience with Java programming, GUI programming with Swing/AWT, and non-GUI C# programming. Windows GUI programming and SWT are new to me so I'm not sure where to start. The best I have found so far is a 2001 article on writing your own SWT widget. My biggest unknown is the best way to implement a custom Windows application-window.

• Documenting preprocessor defines in Doxygen

  Is it possible to document preprocessor defines in Doxygen? I expected to be able to do it just like a variable or function, however the Doxygen output appears to have "lost" the documentation for the define, and does not contain the define its self either. I tried the following /**My Preprocessor Macro.*/ #define TEST_DEFINE(x) (x*x) and /**@def TEST_DEFINE My Preprocessor Macro. */ #define TEST_DEFINE(x) (x*x) I also tried putting them within a group (tried defgroup, addtogroup and ingroup) rather than just at the "file scope" however that had no effect either (although other items in the group were documented as intended). I looked through the various Doxygen options, but couldn't see anything that would enable (or prevent) the documentation of defines.

• InnoDB or MyISAM - Why not both?

  Hey. I'm new to databases, and I've read various threads about which is better between InnoDB and MyISAM. It seems that the debates are to use or the other. Is it not possible to use both, depending on the table? What would be the disadvantages in doing this? As far as I can tell, the engine can be set during the CREATE TABLE command. Therefore, certain tables which are often read can be set to MyISAM, but tables that need transaction support can use InnoDB. I'm sure there must be a problem, otherwise this would be the ultimate answer :).

• What is the Simplest Possible Payment Gateway to Implement? (using Django)

  I'm developing a web application that will require users to either make one time deposits of money into their account, or allow users to sign up for recurring billing each month for a certain amount of money. I've been looking at various payment gateways, but most (if not all) of them seem complex and difficult to get working. I also see no real active Django projects which offer simple views for making payments. Ideally, I'd like to use something like Amazon FPS, so that I can see online transaction logs, refund money, etc., but I'm open to other things. I just want the EASIEST possible payment gateway to integrate with my site. I'm not looking for anything fancy, whatever does the job, and requires < 10 hours to get working from start to finish would be perfect. I'll give answer points to whoever can point out a good one.   In a managed bean you have fields, and the fields have getters and setters. But I also need to save values back to, in this case, a Notes profile document. So I have a loadProfileDocument and a saveProfileDocument method. I was thinking of using the bean in the application scope. How do I make sure the profile document is saved? Do I have to call the saveProfileDocument from the setter? Do I call the saveProfileDocument() explisitly? Could I use a destructor (finalize)? Or what...???...

• What is the magic behind perl read() function and buffer which is not a ref ?

  I do not get to understand how the Perl read($buf) function is able to modify the content of the $buf variable. $buf is not a reference, so the parameter is given by copy (from my c/c++ knowledge). So how come the $buf variable is modified in the caller ? Is it a tie variable or something ? • Objetive C - Calling Methods in objects.

  I'm new to Objective C, and I seem to be struggling with accessing a method of an object I created. I'm checking out the documentation , but I'm not entirely sure tha tthis is a job for a delegate. For example I have an object (1) that creates another object (2). I can access a method of the object (2) after I create it, but I can't access it from a method of object (1). I get a error that the object was not defined in this scope. If anyone can help I greatly appreciate it. I just need a nudge in the right direction so that I can at least get a grasp on how to think about the interaction between the objects.

  Hi All, Does any one know, or is it possible to do one time payment, with paypal in android ? Consider the senario. Buyer purchases installs free application. Clicks on paypal module and makes in-app payment, purchases feature successfully. Buyer deletes application. All information including the feature purchase enty in database is deleted. Buyer reinstalls the application. Here is the catch, if he wants to use the feature he will have to do a re-purchase. Which I wann to avoid in my application. This is taken care in iPhoen in-app purchase. That is if a buyer has already purchased an feture or in-app item, and if he trys to repurchase it (item has been set to one time payment) , the in-app purchase transaction will succeed without the user actually having to repay for the item. Is there an solution for this can anyone help.

• asp:SqlDataSource binded to asp:DropDownList

  I have a asp:SqlDataSource and asp:DropDownList components on my page. On normal page it works ok. Now I'd like to put this on new page with url like ...mypage.aspx?transactionID=2. In Page_Load I would like to set Transaction drop down selected index to 2. But it always binds to 1. I assume, that things happen in this order: in Page_Load I set selected index to 2. Then asp:SqlDataSource's select statement executes and binds to DropDownList. That's why selected index of my DropDownList is always 1, no matter what I set it in Page_Load. So, how can I bind asp:SqlDataSource to asp:DropDownList and also set it's selected index parameter to some integer?

  Is it valid to store the return value of an object in a reference? class A { ... }; A myFunction() { A myObject; return A; } //myObject goes out of scope here void mySecondFunction() { A& mySecondObject = myFunction(); } Is it possible to do this in order to avoid copying myObject to mySecondObject? myObject is not needed anymore and should be exactly the same as mySecondObject so it would in theory be faster just to pass ownership of the object from one object to another. • Suggestions on how to track tag count for a particular object

  Hi, I'm looking for suggestions on how to track the number of tags associated with a particular object in Rails. I'm using acts_as_taggable_on and it's working fine. What I would like to be able to do is search for all objects that have no tags, preferably through a scope i.e. Object.untagged.all My first thought was to use an after_save callback to update an attribute called "taggings_count" in my model: def update_taggings_count self.taggings_count = self.tag_list.size self.save end Unfortunately, this does the obvious thing of putting me in an infinite loop. I need to use an after_save callback because the tag_list is not updated until the main object is saved. Would appreciate any suggestions as I'm on the verge of rolling my own tagging system. • Pro/con: Initializing a variable in a conditional statement

  In C++ you can initialize a variable in an if statement, like so: if (CThing* pThing = GetThing()) { } Why would one consider this bad or good style? What are the benefits and disadvantages? Personally i like this style because it limits the scope of the pThing variable, so it can never be used accidentally when it is NULL. However, i don't like that you can't do this: if (CThing* pThing = GetThing() && pThing->IsReallySomeThing()) { } If there's a way to make the above work, please post. • ColdFusion static key/value list?

  I have a database table that is a dictionary of defined terms -- key, value. I want to load the dictionary in the application scope from the database, and keep it there for performance (it doesn't change). I gather this is probably some sort of "struct," but I'm extremely new to ColdFusion (helping out another team). Then, I'd like to do some simple string replacement on some strings being output to the browser, looping through the defined terms and replacing the terms with some HTML to define the terms (a hover or a link, details to be worked out later, not important). Can anyone point me in the right direction of: How to define the stucture (if that is what I need for a key/value pair list) How to query at the application start-up and reuse the list properly The best way to do the string replacement

• Feature activate via UI but does not show in the Libraries and Lists

  I am really hating SharePoint as there are hardly any good/concrete documentation. I developed custom List "MainCatalog" with few columns (not site columns). Create features and elements with MOSS feature builder at Site collection level so scope="site" installed via stsadm activated via UI "went to site collection website", Site Setting Site collection Feature (and saw my custom list "MainCatalog") and was able to activate. then went to "mySiteCollection Site Settings Site Libraries and Lists " My list is showing But it shows in the "mySiteCollection Create Custom Lists "MainCatalog" I guess it's showing there as a template... But my intention is to deploy this list from development to test environment. EXTREMELY STRESSED. I AM ON THIS FOR LAST 8 DAYS.....

• Should I use Spring or Guice for a Tomcat/Wicket/Hibernate project?

  I'm trying to solve this problem where I have a unique array of values within a specific range. Take this scenario: Generate a fixed value array (90) with unique entries. If you find a duplicate, remove, reindex, and fill the void. I'm running into the problem that conditional statements do not allow you to interact with an array outside of it's scope. I'm aware of array_unique but it doesn't refill those gaps, just makes them. How do I refill those gaps?

• Grouping DLL's for use in Executable

  Is there a way to group a bunch of DLL's and still use them at run time (not zipped up). Sorry this question sounds terse and stupid, but I'm not sure what more to ask. I'll explain the situation though: We've had two standalone Windows Applications and now one of our Applications has swelled to such ungainly proportions that the other application cannot run outside of the scope of the first app. We want to maintain some of the encapsulation we had while letting the smaller program in on some of the bigger program's features. There is no problem in running the application, other than we don't want to send out all the 20-30 DLL's that the smaller project has.
