  Ubuntu Deluge shows errors when downloading large bit torrent files and keeps erroring out after trying to resume. The error on details shows: "Invalid argument". This happens for many large torrents that are running for several days (trying to download.) I try to "resume" and "force rechceck" but it never works. Smaller torrents seem to work ok. What is causing these torrents to never complete? Is there a way to force Deluge to keep auto-resuming every few minutes after a failure instead of just giving up?

• Pass a variable to a Symfony Form

  Hi, I am building a web application using Symfony 1.4 and Doctrine for a school and I want to make a very simple form to add a course to a student. The main problem I have is that in the drop down list I only want to show the courses in which the student is currently not enrolled. I already have a function in the model (in Student.class.php) which returns all the courses in which the student is not enrolled but the problem is I don't know how to pass the student to the configure() of the form. I have tried several options like passing it with the constructor of the form to a global variable or a special set method but none of them have worked. Is there any form to pass the student to the configure() method? Thanks!

  When I do PHP, I use XAMPP to set up a development environment on Windows, then upload to Linux servers, works very well. I'm now passing on a PHP project to a person who has a Mac so he needs a local PHP dev environment. I noticed XAMPP has a version for Mac which I will recommend. But knowing that Mac is always a bit different, has anyone used any other easy PHP environment setup tool for the Mac, or I could even imagine that Mac solves this issue more elegantly by e.g. having a web server ready to go upon first boot etc. What is the best way to set up a PHP development environment on a Mac?

  Hello, Does anyone know how to get the GUID from a PDB file? I'm using Microsoft's Debug Interface Access SDK http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/f0756hat.aspx and getting E_PDB_INVALID_SIG when passing in the GUID i expect when trying to load the PDB. I'd just like to know the GUID of the PDB so I can be certain that it's mismatching and not just a PDB that's perhaps corrupted somehow. Is there a tool that can do this? I've tried dia2dump and dumpbin, but with no joy... Many thanks, thoughton.

• Can't debug code using VS 2010 beta 2

  This is really strange and I can't seem to figure out why it won't work. I have a C# dll that is a add on for another program, the main program is not mine or a .Net app so I am starting it with Start external program in the debugging tab and and passing my program as a command line and the program starts and loads my add on however my Visual Studio debugger doesn't step into the debugger and won't hit my break points. I checked the module window and it's not even loaded in there, I used process explorer and had a look at main program and my dll was loaded into the main app. The project is set to debug, symbols to full and still nothing. I created the project in VS 2008 and it worked fine and am now trying to get this to work in VS 2010 and no go. Anyone know what could be causing this?

  I am trying to compile file-roller from git, but running autogen.sh gives me this error configure: error: Package requirements (gtk+-3.0 >= 2.91.1) were not met: No package 'gtk+-3.0' found Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you installed software in a non-standard prefix. Alternatively, you may set the environment variables GTK_CFLAGS and GTK_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config. See the pkg-config man page for more details. I am running Ubuntu Maverick and don't wish to completely replace my current version of gtk, glib, etc. I have tried to compile GTK using the --prefix argument of autogen.sh, but this gives me a similar error about my version of glib. How can I successfully compile file-roller using these new libraries without borking my install?

I can connect to a camera via passing the window handle (in my application its a picture box handle), this is used to send video and messages. Once connected I can then send the StartLiveView command and then a live stream video will be shown in the picture box. Can someone explain how this works by just giving the window handle? And how can I grab an Image from this stream when Picturebox1.Image is null?

The scripts are getting quite long, and some common functions and variables would fit better in a general library script which I included in my various script instances. But, I cannot find a way reference one JScript file from another. For a moment, I though reading the file contents and passing it to "eval()" could work. But, as it says on MSDN: "Note that new variables or types defined in the eval statement are not visible to the enclosing program." • Why does Django's dev server use port 8000 by default?

  (My question isn't really about Django. It's about alternative http ports. I just happen to know Django is a relatively famous application that uses 8000 by default, so it's illustrative.) I have a dev server in the wild that we occasionally need to run multiple httpd services on on different ports. When I needed to stand a third service up and we were already using ports 80 and 8080, I discovered our security team has locked port 8000 access from the Internet. I recognize that port 80 is the standard http port, and 8080 is commonly http_alt, but I'd like to make the case to our security team to open 8000 as well. In order to make that case, I hope the answer to this question can provide me with a reasonable argument for using port 8000 over 8080 in some case. Or was it just a random choice with no meaning?

• Is there a way to make sure a background process spawned by my program is killed when my process ter

  Basically the child process runs indefinitely until killed in the background, and I want to clean it up when my program terminates for any reason, i.e. via the Taskmanager. Currently I have a while (Process.GetProcessesByName("ParentProcess").Count() 0) loop and exit if the parent process isn't running, but it seems pretty brittle, and if I wanted it to work under debugger in Visual Studio I'd have to add "ParentProcess.vshost" or something. Is there any way to make sure that the child process end without requiring the child process to know about the parent process? I'd prefer a solution in managed code, but if there isn't one I can PInvoke. Edit: Passing the PID seems like a more robust solution, but for curiosity's sake, what if the child process was not my code but some exe that I have no control over? Is there a way to safeguard against possibly creating orphaned child processes?

  Unless I'm mistaken, creating a function in python works like this def my_func(param1, param2): /*stuff*/ However, you don't actually give the types of those parameters. Also, if I remember, python is a strongly typed language, as such, it seams like python shouldn't let you pass in a parameter of a different type then the function creator expected. However, how does python know that the user of the function is passing in the proper types? Or will the program just die if it's the wrong type, assuming the function actually uses the parameter? Or do you have to specify the type/I'm missing something? Thank you.

• Why can't I log in with "claimid.com" as an OpenID?

  Hi, I need to implement a relying party for Open ID in a load balanced environment. Following the suggestions found here I have tried passing null to the OpenIdRelyingParty constructor. The results are somehow not consistent. If I use www.myopenid.com as a provider it works. If I use www.claimid.com as a provider I get the following exception: ProtocolException - No OpenID endpoint found. This exception is thrown on the CreateRequest method call even in a non balanced environment (my local workstation). Any idea what can I do to make it work for both providers ?

  I have a question regarding the commandline options of msbuild. I am currently using msbuild to build projects using the existing solution files. These solution files have references to external dll which have different paths on each machine. I am currently writing a build script and passing the specific path to the project file via the /p: switch of msbuild. My current build line is: msbuild test.sln /p:ReferencePath="c:\abc" /p:ReferencePath="c:\rca" What i have noticed that Reference Path now contains only c:\rca and not c:\abc. this is causing problems for me since, the external dlls lie in two different directorys. I am allowed to keep multiple reference paths via visual studio, but not via the commandline. Is there any known way by which i can do this

• How do I setup a custom Gem.path using JRuby::Rack?

  Hi Nick et al, I've been having some fun looking at to source code of JRuby-Rack and Rubygems to try to figure out how to solve a org.jruby.rack.RackInitializationException: no such file to load -- compass in my rackup script cased by require 'compass'. I'm passing in a custom 'gem.path' as a servlet init parameter and it is being correctly picked up by jruby-rack as far as I can tell by debugging in my rackup script: ENV['GEM_PATH'] => '/foo/lib/.jruby/gems' (expected) but rubygems seems to be broken: Gem.path => file:/foo/lib/jruby-complete-1.4.0.jar!/META-INF/jruby.home/lib/ruby/gems/1.8 I'm not sure why rubygems has not adjusted it's gem_path nor the LOAD_PATH, thus breaking require? The following details in short the implementation - HttpModule parses the SOAPRequest and matches entry in a configuration file for look-ahead candidate. If the request matches, it prepares the Parameters dictionary and starts appropriate workflow. Single workflow runtime is used across all requests is ensured through initializing the runtime instance at Application_Start event and stored in Application Dictionary. Using persistence service and DefaultScheduler service. We can't implement windows service model, as current requirement mandates passing the SOAPRequest parameters as arguments. ManualSchedulerService is not in contention due to synchronous nature of it's actual behaviour. Still the performance is pretty bad and product team is not happy.   So the site I'm working on has a filter system that operates by passing a key and value system through a querystring. The whole site is going through a re-factor soon and I'm maintaining the existing site so before we discuss the RIGHT way to implement this, I just need ideas for changing my delimiter. The current format is like this: cf=<key>:<value> The problem is, I've recently run into an issue because some of our new values for this filter contain : in them. I.e: cf=MO_AspectRatio:16:10 The value is being UrlEncoded, but the browsers are de-coding %3a into : on the fly because the : doesn't inherently break the urls. I need some suggestions for url-safe delimiters that aren't :,-,_,&,? that makes sense. I'm not looking for a solution like () or something wild.

  I am using Telerik controls in my webforms and want to serialize object on the client. Since I am getting a stackoverflow error with Sys.Serialization.JavaScriptSerializer.deserialize I wanted to try JSON. With both JSON and and the MS library I get "Sys.Application is undefined." Has anyone encountered this what did you do as a work around? EDIT I am serializing my object on a parent page and passing them via an argument to a child window. The child window is in an IFRAME tag. The object can be used in the child page, but I receive the stackoverflow error when I serialize it. The object is an Array of objects.
