  • How can I hide the SiteMapPath root node on home page?

    How can I hide the root node in a SiteMapPath control when the user is on the root node page? For example, my breadcrumb trail on a child page is: Home Products Hammers Ball Peen which is fine. But when the user is on the Home page, the SiteMapPath control displays Home which is useless clutter. I want to suppress displaying Home (the root node) when the user is on the home page. I have the SiteMapPath control in a master page. Also, I'm handling SiteMapResolve to set the querystrings in the nodes.

  • Menu Control in Master Page fails to use CSS styles

    I'm working on a web application that uses ASP.NET 3.5 and C#. Structurally, I have a master page with a menu control on it. The control serves as my navigation, and it gets its items from a SiteMapDataSource control and a corresponding Web.sitemap file. The problem is that some styles do not render properly when you specify the CssClass property. More specifically, the selected and hover styles don't respond to css styles. This seems true regardless of whether or not I include the style in the head of the master page or in an external file in default theme as specified in the web.config file. If I specify the styles in the asp.net xml like so: <asp:Menu ID="navMenu" Orientation="Horizontal" runat="server"> <StaticSelectedStyle BackColor="Green" Font-Underline="True" Font-Bold="True" /> <StaticHoverStyle BackColor="Gray" /> </asp:Menu> It appears to work properly in Firefox, but the style is never embedded in the html in Internet Explorer. Odd. Does anybody have any insight into what is causing this problem and how to neatly work around it? I'm aware I might be able to programmically determine the current page and select the corresponding menu item manually so it receives the proper style class, but before I resort to hacking C# and Javascript together to fix this functionality, I'm open to ideas.

  • How to cache pages using background jobs ?

    Definitions: resource = collection of database records, regeneration = processing these records and outputting the corresponding html Current flow: Receive client request Check for resource in cache If not in cache or cache expired, regenerate Return result The problem is that the regeneration step can tie up a single server process for 10-15 seconds. If a couple of users request the same resource, that could result in a couple of processes regenerating the exact same resource simultaneously, each taking up 10-15 seconds. Wouldn't it be preferrable to have the frontend signal some background process saying "Hey, regenerate this resource for me". But then what would it display to the user? "Rebuilding" is not acceptable. All resources would have to be in cache ahead of time. This could be a problem as the database would almost be duplicated on the filesystem (too big to fit in memory). Is there a way to avoid this? Not ideal, but it seems like the only way out. But then there's one more problem. How to keep the same two processes from requesting the regeneration of a resource at the same time? The background process could be regenerating the resource when a frontend asks for the regeneration of the same resource. I'm using PHP and the Zend Framework just in case someone wants to offer a platform-specific solution. Not that it matters though - I think this problem applies to any language/framework. Thanks!

    Hello I would like to know if there is any API feature that can tell me which users liked my application page. I know that it is possible to check if a user is a fan of any given Page using page.isFan verification or to get the number of fans. But is it possible to get the fans' User ID? If so, is it possible to get that data ordered by the date they became fans of the page?     I have a website that is using the viewport META tag to tell mobile browsers how to display content ( ). Viewing the page in the Android browser looks correct (and iPhone, etc). When I load the page into a WebView component in an android Application, the WebView ignores the "VIEWPORT" tag, and renders the page at "full" resolution, which is zoomed-in in this case.

  • Sessionstate not being saved between pages

    Hi, i am having problems with an asp.net c# site whereby i am setting a session state object to true and then redirecting to another page that needs to check the value of the session state object and it is null. Sometimes it is set correctly and other times is is simply null. When i debug on my local machine it works perfectly every time. Only when i upload to my web server does this temperamental behaviour happen. As it is based around the security of the site it is obviously important that the session data be valid and accurate every time. Is session state data unreliable? AFAIK its set to inproc, cookieless, 30 min timeout, vanilla installation of IIS. Does anyone have any suggestions? Perhaps i need to thread.sleep inbetween the storing of the session data and the reading? NB: the time between the write and the read is about 70ms.. ample time for the data to be written to RAM.....

The structure is more or less as follows: Master table: MasterID, DetailID, date, ... masterID1, detailID1, 2010/5/1, .... masterID2, detailID1, 2008/6/14, ... masterID3, detailID1, 2009/5/25, ... masterID4, detailID2, 2008/7/24, ... masterID5, detailID2, 2010/4/1, ... masterID6, detailID4, 2008/9/16, ... Details table: DetailID, ... detailID1, ... detailID2, ... detailID3, ... detailID4, ... I need to get all the records from the details table plus the LAST record from the master table (last by the date in the master table). Like this: detailID1, masterID1, 2010/5/1, .... detailID2, masterID5, 2010/4/1, ... detailID3, null, null, ... detailID4, masterID6, 2008/9/16, ... I have no idea how to do this. Can anybody help me?
