Ruby/python Script to convert html text to plain text in csv file

Hi all: So i have a large(ish) file in a csv format, that contains a column that has html and i need to transform that to plain text (ie readable by people ,ie with no script tags) I dont have much experience with ruby, but it seems like the perfect language to do this The File should still be in a cv format after the parsing ( ie, other columns should nto be disturbed) Helpz? static images aren't caching with php-generated page

Our website was just converted to being generated by mod_rewrite and php scripts. Images aren't caching in browsers when they seemingly should be. All images follow format: <img src="/images/header.png" /> I must avoid the script completely caching because the PHP parser needs to handle each page dynamically on each request; however, the download overhead of the large images is cumbersome on every single page load. I would ideally provide headers for "Cache-Control: no-cache, must-revalidate" and "Expires: some_date_in_the_past" to force revalidation of the PHP script. Why isn't the browser caching static images with consistent href values across all pages?

Observing 'click' event on <a> tag generated by scriptaculous Builder

I'm using scriptaculous Builder to generate some DOM elements dynamically, and one of them is a link tag. I wasn't sure how to generate this with the click callback inline along with the rest of the Builder code, so I'm generating the link tag ahead of time and then inserting it with the rest of the Builder phase. The problem is that the callback for the link is never actually executed when I click the link, and the URL bar changes to http://localhost/foo/bar/# instead. How does the dispatch action call work in the Twitter sidebar

The section in particular being: data="{"dispatch_action":"replies"}" I believe (think), it is using Twitter's own twitter.js script and I do not want to interfere(or copy) with their code, I rather just want to know how the call works. jQuery UI Themes

So I downloaded a jQuery UI Theme and link it, but it looks nothing like the them on the site. jQuery Thickbox or similar to show iFrame?

I have been looking at jQUery thickbox for showing modal dialogs with images, it is great. But now I have the need to display a hidden div of content that contains an iFrame in a similar fashion, with a link to open the content. So I'd have something like this. <a href="">Open window in Modal Dialog</a> <div id="myContent"> <h1>Look at me!</h1> <iframe src="http://www.google.com" /> </div> And need to show it in the dialog. Is it possible?

An unsupported character encoding was declared for the HTML document using a meta tag. The declaration was ignored. My firebug version is 1.7.3. What could be causing this error?.

I am currently trying to write a ''web application'' that has a simple text area inside, in which I want the letters of the text written to be pointed out. For example, if I write: ''How old are you? I am 19 years old'' I need a code to tell me how many 'A's and 'Y's and 'D's (and all letters of the alphabet from 0-26) are used in this sentence when I press a button on a HTML/ CSS page. Vertically center CSS techniques don't work in Chrome

I've gone through stackoverflow questions and a whole bunch of articles on vertically centering text like the following: http://blog.themeforest.net/tutorials/vertical-centering-with-css/ None of the techniques seem to work with the latest version of Chrome. Is that just the nature of Chrome? My text just always appears at the top. It seems that whenever I use 50% or 100% as values for CSS's height or top, nothing happens. I just need a single line of text vertically centered. line-height isn't helpful because I want it centered in the middle of the browser window... I don't know how tall the browser window is going to be. UPDATE: The problem is apparently Foundation 4. Once I delete the following everything works as expected: <link href="/assets/foundation_and_overrides.css?body=1" media="screen" rel="stylesheet" /> Any idea on how to make it work with Foundation 4?

Django admin proper urls inside listview

Hi, My current target is to give users the chance to download CSV files from the admin site of my application. I successfully managed to create an additional column in the model's list view this way: def doc_link(self): return '<a href="files/%s">%s</a>' % (self.output, self.output) doc_link.allow_tags = True This shows the file name and creates the link, but sadly - because it's inside my 'searches' view - it has an URL: my_site/my_app/searches/files/13.csv. This is my problem, I would like to have my files stored in the admin media directory, like this: http://my_site/media/files/13.csv Does somebody know how to give url which points "outer" from the model's directory? Maybe somehow tell Django to use the ADMIN_MEDIA_PREFIX in the link? I'd really appreciate any help, thanks!

window.location call popup up empty dialog on safari

Hi, on a web page i am trying to redirect the browser to another page on the same site. the code is very simple for that: window.location = "/path1/path2" on safari - both windows as well as mac - a message box containing only the text "http://domain.com" comes up. I have tried different ways of specifying this: location.href, windows.assign(...) ... and the all have the same behavior. Did any of you see this? and do you have a solution for this? Thanks.

I am using the function below to match URLs inside a given text and replace them for HTML links. The regular expression is working great, but currently I am only replacing the first match. How I can replace all the URL? Displaying name instead of ID PHP MySQL

Hi, I need something simple; I have page where a user clicks an author to see the books associated with that author. On my page displaying the list of books for the author, I want a simple HTML title saying: 'The books for: AUTHORNAME' I can get the page to display author ID but not the name. When the user clicks the link in the previous page of the author, it looks likes this: <a href="viewauthorbooks.php?author_id=<?php echo $row['author_id']?>"><?php echo $row['authorname']?></a> And then on the 'viewauthorbooks.php?author_id=23' I have declared this at the start: $author_id = $_GET['author_id']; $authorname = $_GET['authorname']; And finally, 'The books for: AUTHORNAME, where it says AUTHORNAME, I have this: echo $authorname (With PHP tags, buts its not letting me put them in!) And this doesnt show anything, however if I change it to author_id, it displays the correct author ID that has been clicked, but its not exactly user friendly!! Can anyone help me out!

Remove class when move to next menu item

I have a simple nav made up of the following HTML; <div class="inner"> <div class="button"><img class="portal" src="images/portalbutton.png" /></div> <a href="#"><div class="prod_description"> </div></a> </div> There are a number of items (All set to float left along side each other) to make up a nav bar. When I hover over .button and/or .prod_description I want the .inner <div> to have the class .hover added to it. This is so I can set a background image around the whole thing (Kind of like highlighting the nav item). I only then want to remove .hover when another .button or .prod_description is hovered over, in which case this nav item takes the .hover class.

ASP.NET/IIS: Tell IIS do not check for file existence

In my Global.asax.cs, I have: routes.MapRoute("AssetCss", "css/{*path}", new { controller = "Asset", action = "Index" }); I also have this in a view: <link href="/css/Root/index.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> The problem is that the AssetController does not invoke Index when /css/Root/index.css is requested. This is because a file actually exists at the path /css/Root/index.css. If I recall correctly, there's a checkbox setting in IIS that basically says "Do not check that a file actually exists at the request path [instead, let the RouteTable handle it]." (At least there is in IIS 6.) Is there something I can put in my Web.config that sets this IIS setting to true? How do I tell IIS to let my MVC routes handle the path even if a file exists at the path?

Sharing on Facebook from public kiosk -- user can't logout from FB!

I have a website that is designed to be run at a kiosk at public events. I want users to be able to share a page from this site on Facebook without leaving their Facebook session logged in. This is not a Facebook Connect site (there's no login to synchronize w/FB), all I have is a link for sharing that goes to Facebook's sharer.php: <a href="http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php?u="http://mysite.com/mypage">share this</a> It allows the user to log in and posts the link fine, but then closes the window and leaves the user logged in. There is no option for logging out, so the next user that comes along and wants to share has the previous user's FB account logged in! Seems like this just changed when Facebook's UI changed recently; previously it would redirect to the user's profile page after posting, from which they could log out. How can I fix this? Any recommendations on the "right way" to allow sharing with FB from a public kiosk?

Passing along variable inside link works only on first word in multiple-word-variables, why?

I have this code below. As you can see I am passing two variables along with the link. The second variabye (category) works whenever it consists of one word, but some categories are two words or more, and then on the receiving php page where I fetch the variable only the first word is fetched. Any ideas? Example: I pass along this: Rims & Tires Only this comes through: Rims $display_table .= "<a href='../ad.php?ad_id=$row[ad_id]&category=$row[category]' target='_parent'>"; Here is how I fetch it in the receiving php file (which the link is to): $cat = $_GET['category']; echo $cat; //displays only first word of multiple word categories.
