• receiving OPTIONS instead of GET requests?

  Hi, all I want to achieve is to implement a servlet providing a json feed for my fullcalendar application. When I inspect http://arshaw.com/js/fullcalendar/examples/json.html with Bugzilla, I see that GET-requests are sent to receive the json feed. However, when I use this example within my scenario, fullcalendar seems to send OPTIONS-requests. The only difference is that I replaced "events: "json-events.php" with "http://localhost:8080/CalendarServletTest/HelloWorldServlet" (the url of my servlet). What do I miss? or is this really a bug?

• touchesEnded:withEvent: from UIScrollView First Responder

  I've made a UIScrollView the first responder. I need to maintain touch events to a touchesEnded:withEvent: method on a view behind it. I've tried using the nextResponder method and that failed. I've tried forwarding touchesEnded:withEvent to the view behind it and that fails. How do I get this to work? The UIScrollView wont work unless it is the first responder or gets events some other way. Thank you for any help. Shame Apple's documentation and APIs are terrible in areas.

• Compare a DateTime to the current date

  Hi I am trying to use a condition on events when the start_at DateTime is equal to or greater than Today's date. I want to list upcoming events, but clearly they are not upcoming if they have already passed. I have: @appointments = Event.find(:all, :conditions => ['move_id = ? AND start_at = ?', @move.id, Date.today]) I think I may be comparing apples and oranges here. It doesn't throw and error, just doesn't do what it is supposed to. Help! Thanks in advance.

• Store the day of the week and time

  I have a two part question about storing day(s) of the week and time in a database. I'm using Rails 4.0, ruby 2.0.0, and postgres. I have certain events and those events have a schedule. For the event Skydiving for example, for example, I might have Tuesday and Wednesday and 3 pm. 1) Is there a way for me to store the the record for Tuesday and Wednesday in one row or do should I have two records? 2) What is the best way to store the day and time? Is there a way to store day of week and time (not datetime) or should these be separate columns? If they should be separate, how would you store day of week? I was thinking of storing them as integer values (0 for Sunday, 1 for Monday, etc) since that's how wday method for the Time class does it. Any suggestions would be super helpful. Thanks!

• Dynamically generated controls issue.

  I have a form with a panel docked in it. I then dynamically create 15 panels (named: panel_n) and 15 pictureboxes (named: picturebox_n) on the primary panel (named ContainerPanel). When dragging the any picturebox over a panel (panel_n) created using the relevant mouse events. I would like to get the panel's name that the picture box was dragged over. The mouse cursor seems to be captured. I have tried creating a IMessageFilter interface, but there are still no events that trigger when dragging one of the pictureboxes over any one of the panels. The ClientRectangle.IntersectsWith function also does not work as the co-ords are always 0,0. All I need is the panel name where the picturebox was dragged over (preferably on the mouseup event)

  I'm searching for some code samples for my Flash application. The app is based on screen-flows , i.e each screen is defined with some visual elements with some buttons which have async events associated with them(consuming web services basically). The buttons also have functionality to go back and forth between screens and jump to any screen. I want to define all of the visual elements and the functionality of the events in a XML file. Thus the model, view and controller are all in the XML. Does any framework allow this like Pure MVC? Where can I find some examples of this kind of functionality that I want?

• jQuery resize event for div children

  $("div.content-left > *, div.content-main > *" ).live('resize',function(){alert("Size changed")}); does not work, because the resize event only applies to window resizes. But in my case the divs change size late, because the content is loaded late by an ajax request - or by clicking a panel menu. I definatley need to avoid to register on all individual events of the children (ajax, click), because that can be very many different events and then it is not maintainable.

• Is it acceptable to design my GLSurfaceView as a main control class?

  I'm trying to structure a game I'm making in Android so that I have a sound, flexible design. Right now I'm looking at where I can tie my games rules engine and graphics engine together and what should be in between them. At a glance, I've been eying my implementation of GLSurfaceView, where various screen events are captured. My rationale would be to create an instance of my game engine and graphics engine here and receive events and state changes to trigger updates of either where applicable. Further to this, in the future, the GLSurfaceView implementation could also store stubs for players during a network game and implementations of computer opponents and dispatch them appropriately. Does this seem like a sensible design? Are there any kinds of improvements I can make? Thanks for any input!

• GeoCoordinateWatcher doesnt fire the event at given intervals

  I have the below code which fires the GeoCoordinateWatcher PositionChanged event for every 0.5 meteres .It might be less.But thats my requirement. The issue is when i am walking with phone doesnt fire the event at every 0.5 meters instead it fires the event after 0.5 meters randomly.And sometimes when i move fast it fires few events one after another immediately.   Hi guys, i am familiar with memcached and eager loading, but neither seems to solve the problem i am facing. My main performance lag comes from hundreds of data retrieval calls from the database. The tricky thing is that I do not know which set of users i need to retrieve until i have several steps of computation. I can refactor my code, but i was wondering how you experts handle this situation? I think it should be a fairly common situation def newsfeed - find out which users i need - retrieve those users via DB - find out which events happened for these users - for each of those events - retrieve new set of users - find out which groups are relevant - for each of those groups - retrieve new set of users - etc, etc end

  I have a simple join in a query however I need to have a condition on both of the tables "confirmed='yes'" but if one of the tables doesn't have any that match the query returns with no rows.   I have a SQL 2005 setup and am rather new :) Been cracking at this for a few hours and I just need some help. I have been able to setup alerts successfully for the standard "SQL server performance events", its fun. So I already have email alerts working. However I need the alert thing to run a stored procedure I have created, and depending on its output it will alert me or not via email. So far I have been trying to use the WMI events, but I keep getting an error "The @wmi_query could not be executed in the @wmi_namespace provided. Verify that an event class selected in the query exists in the namespace and that the query has the correct syntax" the query definitely works so I have no idea.. is there a different way to do this?

• SQL: Optimize insensive SELECTs on DateTime fields

  I have an application for scheduling certain events. And all these events must be reviewed after each scheduled time. So basically we have 3 tables: items(id, name) scheduled_items(id, item_id, execute_at - datetime) - item_id column has an index option. reviewed_items(id, item_id, created_at - datetime) - item_id column has an index option. So core function of the application is "give me any items(which are not yet reviewed) for the actual moment". How can I optimize this solution for speed(because it is very core business feature and not micro optimization)? I suppose that adding index to the datetime fields doesn't make any sense because the cardinality or uniqueness on that fields are very high and index won't give any(?) speed-up. Is it correct? What would you recommend? Should I try no-SQL? -- mysql -V 5.075 I use caching where it makes sence.

• In Android, does _id have to be present in any table created?

  I am trying to create a table to only has a foreign key, not a primary key. I am getting this error: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: column '_id' does not exist I read a tutorial that the primary key must be _id, with no explanation. And that is fine. But what if I do not want a primary key! What if I only want a foreign key. I am assuming this is where my problem lies. The schemas below are what I have.   If I have relative probabilities of events A, B, C occurring. i.e P(A) = 0.45, P(B) = 0.35, P(C) = 0.20, How do I do represent this using a random number generator between 0 and 1? i.e. R = rand(0,1) if (R < 0.45) event A else if(R < 0.35) event B else if(R < 0.20) event C The above works for two events A,B but I think the above is wrong for three or more since there is overlapping. This is obviously a very simple question and the answer should be immediately evident, but I'm just too stupid to see it.

• Dates search in Drupal (greater than, less than) using CCK / views / facelet?

  I'm working in a site that manage events (like parties). Each event could have several fields, including date, that the user could add thanks to CCK module. Now, the problem is when I have to search using those fields. I could not find how to search for events between a range of dates. I discover the facelet module, which is pretty good, and it is very useful for some kind of search, but as far as I can see it is not possible search in a range. Also I do some testing using views, but again, with no results. I can not find how to search a date "greater than" and "less than". I will really appreciate any help.

  Hello, I'm new to Flex and am having trouble understanding Events. I think Events are what I want to use for my situation. I have 2 components, addUser.mxml and listUsers.mxml. I access these from a ViewStack in my main application. When I load listUsers.mxml it shows a list of current users in a datagrid via a HTTPService call. When I add a user using the form on addUser.mxml I would like the datagrid in listUsers.mxml to refresh when I return to that view to show the new user. I've tried several different things with addEventListener and dispatchEvent but can't seem to get it working. Can someone help me with this logic?

  In the frame 1 of my movie, part of my code is: stage.addEventListener(Event.RESIZE, resizeHandler); It works all fine, but when i go to the frame 2 the listener is still there but the function resizeHandler is not anymore (and i dont want it). So the console output this: TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at index_fla::MainTimeline/resizeHandler() at flash.events::EventDispatcher/dispatchEventFunction() at flash.events::EventDispatcher/dispatchEvent() at flash.display::Stage/dispatchEvent() at index_fla::MainTimeline/frame2() Is possible to remove the event listener on the frame 2? • C# - Silverlight - Custom control or UserControl ?

  I need a button that is visually completely customizable, but has custom logic to publish events and manage it's visual state based on events it has registered for. When I say visually customizable, I mean I should be able to both create the button in xaml and set it's style by binding to the supplied style. Or I can create an instance of the button and set the style by passing a parameter to an alternate constructor. Or by calling a method on the button class to set the style. I do not plan on substituting the controls template, it should be a button. Can anyone point me to some code samples of this?
