    We have a number of small but useful WCF services which are being hosted using the WebScriptServiceHostFactory class and consumed via ASP.NET AJAX. We've noticed that in our production environment that the javascript proxies are not being cached by the client. Is there anyway to allow these files to be cached?

    Google App Engine provides a image API for storing / retrieving images. We are currently not in a position to deploy our application on top of App Engine because of limitations in the java frameworks (jboss seam 2.2.0) we are using to build our j2ee application. We would eventually want to deploy our production application on top of Google App Engine, but what are the short term options (java based open source products) which provides comparable functionality to Google App Engine's Image API and will have an easier migration path at a later point in time.

This works: all: xyzzy-en_US.ext2 # to be compiled from xyzzy.ext0 %.ext1 : %.ext0 # produce xyzzy.ext1 %-en_US.ext2 : %.ext1 # produce xyzzy-en_US.ext2 But how to generalize the locale part of the second rule?     For university, I perform bytecode modifications and analyze their influence on performance of Java programs. Therefore, I need Java programs---in best case used in production---and appropriate benchmarks. For instance, I already got HyperSQL and measure its performance by the benchmark program PolePosition. The Java programs running on a JVM without JIT compiler. Thanks for your help! P.S.: I cannot use programs to benchmark the performance of the JVM or of the Java language itself (such as Wide Finder).

    I have a Python script that pulls in data from many sources (databases, files, etc.). Supposedly, all the strings are unicode, but what I end up getting is any variation on the following theme (as returned by repr()): u'D\\xc3\\xa9cor' u'D\xc3\xa9cor' 'D\\xc3\\xa9cor' 'D\xc3\xa9cor' Is there a reliable way to take any four of the above strings and return the proper unicode string? u'D\xe9cor' # --> Décor The only way I can think of right now uses eval(), replace(), and a deep, burning shame that will never wash away.

  • php 5.1.6 magic __toString method

    In codeigniter Im trying to use this plugin which requires I implement a toString method in my models. My toString method simply does return $this->name On my local machine with php 5.3 everything works just fine but on the production server with php 5.1.6 it shows "Object id#48" where the value of the name property of that object should appear..... I found something about the problem here but I still dont understand... How can I fix this?

    Right now for my ConversionPattern I have: log4j.appender.A1.layout.ConversionPattern=%d{yyyy MMM dd HH:mm:ss,SSS} %5p [%t] (%F:%L) - %m%n What I'd like to do is also include the full package name with the class (%F:%L) but I can't find any config to do so in the docs. I do understand that this will be slower, but it's only for debugging and not when the system will be in production.

    I'm working on a project started in VB9 (VS 2008) and now I've migrated to VS2010 (VB10) but on the production server the IDE is still VS 2008. On my developement enviroment the code compiles fine, but sometimes, - let's say - I forget an _ at the end of the line which causes the VB9 compiler to throw an error. So the question is, how could I build a project with the VS 2010 IDE but VB9 compiler? Or to force the VB10 compiler into VB9 mode?

Let's imagine a document like this: { name: 'John Blank', yearOfBirth: 1960 } Later, in a new version, this structure is refactored to { firstname: 'John', lastname: 'Blank', yearOfBirth: 1960 } How do you do this with Document-Oriented databases? Do you have to prepare merge-scripts, that alter all your entries in the database? Or are there better ways you can handle changes in the structure?

  • Can I change the temp folder path?

    I have an asp.net app that uses System.IO.Path.GetTempFileName() for temporary files. In the production IIS environment (W2K3), the temp folder (System.IO.Path.GetTempPath()) points to C:\Windows\Temp. But on my XP dev machine it's C:\documents and settings\machinename\ASPNET\temp. Is it possible to change this folder without affecting other accounts on my machine?

In SSMS there are info related to the connection, but sometimes are not properly displayed and/or hidden. I know that it is possible to customize the status bar of each connection in SSMS, but how do you ensure that your developer is connecting to the right server before he runs a query?     I am needing to upgrade MYSQL on Ubuntu, it is a production server and naturally cautious. My many googles look to be essentially saying that I need to : 1) Backup my current mysql database and tables/data 2) Uninstall current mysql 3) Install new MYSQL 5+ 4) Restore Databases/ tables and data 5) Hope and Pray I got it right ??   • How do I find out the expiry date of a SQL Server 2008 trial-install instance?

    So I installed a trial of SQL Server 2008 enterprise edition while waiting for MSDN licenses to come through - I now want to uninstall the trial and replace it with a developer edition installation. However, I'd like to first know how long I have left on the trial. Is there a way to do this programmatically with SQL? I looked at create_date in sys.databases, but these give dates that are in 2003 (which is, I guess, when master and model were originally created).

  • Error 424 from Twitter API

    I'm experitmenting with the Twitter API (OAuth). I have a test bed that can tweet from my dev box, but fails in production. I get a status code of 424 returned when trying to tweet. I can't spot the difference between my live environment and my dev environment so really need to understand what a '424' is, but can find no documentation relating to it.
