  • Easily Zoom an Image in Silverlight 3 with slider control

Simple question, SilverLight 3 application (no toolkit). I want to use an image and a slider. The image is displayed fit to screen on load, and then the slider has to zoom-in and out the image when its value changes. I don't want to use anything else, like deepzoom. How can this be done? Urgent, Thanks in advance,

  • Voice Control iOS

    - by Marc Tanis
I would like to build a simple reader app for the iPad 2 that would allow users to navigate/read via voice controls. The app would allow the user to enter a mode where the microphone was live and listened for predefined keywords like 'down', 'up', 'next', 'back', 'home', etc. I don't want to reinvent the wheel on this so I'm just wondering first, if someone has done this already and if not, are there any good tutorials or SDKs available to help with recording someone's voice, and then comparing future output to see if it matches, or just dealing with the microphone in general?

  • ASP.NET calendar drawing control

    - by BCS
I want to make a simple ASP.NET page that draws a months from a calendar and highlights given dates. (I'm not looking for a date picker.) What I have is a list of DateTime values and I need to display them a a nice way. Given that I'm a total beginner with ASP, simpler really is better. (I'd rather not, I'm willing to hack together something with StringBuilder and <table> if it's easier). p.s. I have no budget, so non-free controls will only be of use to other readers.

  • Puzzle - Dynamically change data template control from another data template

    - by Burt
I have a DataTemplate that contains an Expander with a border in the header. I want the header border to have round corners when collapsed and straight bottom corners when expanded. What would best practice be for achieving this (bonus points for code samples as I am new to XAML)? This is the template that holds the expander: <DataTemplate x:Key="A"> <StackPanel> <Expander Name="ProjectExpander" Header="{Binding .}" HeaderTemplate="{StaticResource B}" > <StackPanel> <Border CornerRadius="0,0,2,2"> This is the expander datatemplate: <DataTemplate x:Key="B"> <Border x:Name="ProjectExpanderHeader" CornerRadius="{Binding local:ItemUserControl.ProjectHeaderBorderRadius, RelativeSource={RelativeSource FindAncestor, AncestorType={x:Type ContentPresenter}}}" Background="{StaticResource ItemGradient}" HorizontalAlignment="{Binding HorizontalAlignment, RelativeSource={RelativeSource FindAncestor, AncestorType={x:Type ContentPresenter}}, Mode=OneWayToSource}"> <local:ItemContentsUserControl Height="30"/> </Border> </DataTemplate>

  • Problem with layout of control when dynamically creating winform and controls for the Form

    - by Ashwani Roy
I get this response from a web service call. Something like this <Response> <Control1 type = "DropdownList" value= "USA,UK,Sweden,UAE"/> <Control2 type = "Textbox" value= "Contries"/> <Control3 type = "Button" value= "None"> </Response> Based on this I de-serialize it into List<Controls>. Now I need to be able to dynamically create a winform based on these controls. My problem is the layout. I want to be able to create them nicely separated (If possible vertically aligned) in batches of lets say 5.So If I need 15 controls I have 3 columns and 5 rows. What would be best way to achieve this? I know that I can use the inbuilt positioning properties like top, width etc., but maybe someone out there has done something similar in a better way.

  • Control Javascript > CSS through Flash

    - by Jason b.
Hi All, Ideal situation/setup: A page containing 1 Flash movie and a separate div containing a few hyperlinks. These hyperlinks each have a unique class name like so: Copy code <ul> <li><a href="" class="randomname1"></a></li> <li><a href="" class="randomname2"></a></li> <li><a href="" class="randomname3"></a></li> <li><a href="" class="randomname4"></a></li> </ul> The Flash movie itself will contain 4 buttons. Clicking on one of these buttons should make the Flash communicate with Jquery/JS and tell it to highlight the specific classname. Ideas so far For the javascript, it would look like $(function() { function setClass(className) {$("."+className).css("background","red");} }); And in specific keyframes within Flash 1. button 1 ExternalInterface.call("setClass","randomname1"); 1. button 2 ExternalInterface.call("setClass","randomname2"); 1. button 3 ExternalInterface.call("setClass","randomname3"); 1. button 4 ExternalInterface.call("setClass","randomname4"); The problem is that it is not really working well and i am not sure if i am making Flash communicate with JS properly. Any ideas or hints to steer me in the right direction again? Thank you in advance J.

  • VB.NET Two different approaches to generic cross-threaded operations; which is better?

    - by BASnappl
VB.NET 2010, .NET 4 Hello, I recently read about using SynchronizationContext objects to control the execution thread for some code. I have been using a generic subroutine to handle (possibly) cross-thread calls for things like updating UI controls that utilizes Invoke. I'm an amateur and have a hard time understanding the pros and cons of any particular approach. I am looking for some insight on which approach might be preferable and why. Update: This question is motivated, in part, by statements such as the following from the MSDN page on Control.InvokeRequired. An even better solution is to use the SynchronizationContext returned by SynchronizationContext rather than a control for cross-thread marshaling. Method 1: Public Sub InvokeControl(Of T As Control)(ByVal Control As T, ByVal Action As Action(Of T)) If Control.InvokeRequired Then Control.Invoke(New Action(Of T, Action(Of T))(AddressOf InvokeControl), New Object() {Control, Action}) Else Action(Control) End If End Sub Method 2: Public Sub UIAction(Of T As Control)(ByVal Control As T, ByVal Action As Action(Of Control)) SyncContext.Send(New Threading.SendOrPostCallback(Sub() Action(Control)), Nothing) End Sub Where SyncContext is a Threading.SynchronizationContext object defined in the constructor of my UI form: Public Sub New() InitializeComponent() SyncContext = WindowsFormsSynchronizationContext.Current End Sub Then, if I wanted to update a control (e.g., Label1) on the UI form, I would do: InvokeControl(Label1, Sub(x) x.Text = "hello") or UIAction(Label1, Sub(x) x.Text = "hello") So, what do y'all think? Is one way preferred or does it depend on the context? If you have the time, verbosity would be appreciated! Thanks in advance, Brian

  • How to add separator between items in a Spark List control

    - by simms2k
I have a s:List where I've defined my own itemRenderer, and would like to insert a horizontal line separating items, similar to the way the mx:LinkBar works. I don't want to have a line at the top or bottom of the list, so I can't just include an upper or lower border in the itemRenderer. I was hoping the itemRenderer could be made aware of its index in the list, but I don't see how. Is there a way to do this?

  • Silverlight 4: Binding to a calculation of control properties

    - by Rich.Carpenter
What I would like to do is pretty simple. Given textboxes for ItemPrice, Tax and Total, I need the text value for Total to be bound to ItemPrice + Tax and the Tax value to display ItemPrice * taxRate. Could someone offer a brief explanation as to how this would be accomplished or point me to an appropriate example? I see property binding examples all over the place, but none that show binding to a calculation of the properties of two controls.

  • How to control the font size of html select boxes on iPhone

    - by Zorzella
Regular HTML select boxes (such as, e.g. found here), while being "chosen" are presented by the iPhone on a native widget that seems to totally ignore regular html font sizes and whatnot. It does some ellipsing when it goes too long, but the font is way too big for a list I want to present -- even on landscape, only about 35 characters can fit. Is there any way to tell the iPhone to use a smaller font there?

  • Multiple file selection for an upload control

    - by Abel Morelos
Hi, I was trying to do something like this: http://www.element-it.com/Examples/MultiPowUpload/AdvancedHTMLinterface.html But in my search for information I found that is not possible to perform multiple file selection with simple HTML and JavaScript (and JSP in the server side). There is a way to do this without using Flash? A third party component you could recommend? Thanks.

  • C# Homework - control structures (for, if)

    - by Freakingout
    I got a homework assignment today: "Create a program that calculates out how many ways you can add three numbers so that they equal 1000." I think this code should work, but it doesn't write out anything. using System; namespace ConsoleApp02 { class Program { public static void Main(string[] args) { for(int a = 0; a < 1000; a++) { for(int b = 0; b < 1000; b++) { for(int c = 0; c < 1000; c++) { for(int puls = a + b + c; puls < 1000; puls++) { if(puls == 1000) { Console.WriteLine("{0} + {1} + {2} = 1000", a, b, c); } } } } } Console.ReadKey(true); } } } What am I doing wrong? Any tips or solution?

  • Looking for a wiki-style, standalone, version-control-"safe" documenation package

    - by basszero
This may sound like it's not a programming related question, but stick with me here... My team and I have found that documenting our project (a development platform w/ API) with a wiki is both useful to us and useful to the users. Due to some organizational issues, we're forced to do multi-site development without network connectivity. We've switched to a DVCS (Mercurial) and had great success with this. The wiki documentation proves to be a problem as the central site is setup with MediaWiki. The offsite people have no way to access or edit the wiki. Is there any sort of wiki-style package which doesn't not require a server/database and will be useable in a DVCS environment? Update: Should be open-source and cross-platform

  • Coordinate system problem with the grid control

    - by Jason94
In my WPF application im trying to visualize some temperature data. I have a list of temperatures for the 7 past days and want to make a point to point line diagram. My problem is with the different koordinatesystems and adjusting data to the grid. XAML: <Grid Height="167" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Margin="6,6,0,0" Name="grid1" VerticalAlignment="Bottom" Width="455" /> C# (draft): http://pastebin.com/6UWkMFj1 scale is a global variable that changes with a slider (1-10). How to i correct my application so the line always is centered? As it is now it starts out centeded but if i crank up the slider to 3-4 the line goes up and above the applicationwindow. I also would like to use the full height of the grid window not just a small piece like images below: http://img32.imageshack.us/i/002wtvu.jpg/ http://img691.imageshack.us/i/001tqco.jpg/ As you can see i have worked out my data so day 1 with temperature 62 F is lower then day 2 with temperature of 76 F but i have scaling issues and placementissues... could somebody straighten out my math? :-)
