Well it is a basic question but I seem confused enough.
#include<stdio.h>
int main()
{
char a[100];
printf("Enter a string\n");
scanf("%s",a);
}
Basically the above is what I want to achieve.
If I enter a string
James Bond
then I want that to be stored in array a.
But the problem is because of presence of a blank space in between only James word is stored.
So how can I solve this one.
UPDATE
After the replies given below I understand fgets() would be a better choice. I want to know internal working of fgets as why is it able to store the string with space where as scanf is not able to do the same.
I'm trying to write a method that uses recursion to print the string formed by "interleaving" the strings str1 and str2. In other words, it should alternate characters from the two strings: the first character from str1, followed by the first character from str2, followed by the second character from str1, followed by the second character from str2, etc.
How would I go about this? Any ideas are greatly appreciated!! Thanks
I have the string
a.b.c.d
I want to count the occurrences of '.' in an idiomatic way, preferably a one-liner.
(Previously I had expressed this constraint as "without a loop", in case you're wondering why everyone's trying to answer without using a loop).
I would like to trim all special characters from a string in SQL. I've seen a bunch of people who use substring methods to remove a certain amount of characters, but in this case the length on each side of the string is unknown.
Anyone know how to do this?
Thanks,
Matt
I like to replace a certain set of characters of a string with a corresponding replacement character in an efficent way.
For example:
String sourceCharacters = "šdccŠÐCCžŽ";
String targetCharacters = "sdccSDCCzZ";
String result = replaceChars("Gracišce", sourceCharacters , targetCharacters );
Assert.equals(result,"Gracisce") == true;
Is there are more efficient way than to use the replaceAll method of the String class?
My first idea was:
final String s = "Gracišce";
String sourceCharacters = "šdccŠÐCCžŽ";
String targetCharacters = "sdccSDCCzZ";
// preparation
final char[] sourceString = s.toCharArray();
final char result[] = new char[sourceString.length];
final char[] targetCharactersArray = targetCharacters.toCharArray();
// main work
for(int i=0,l=sourceString.length;i<l;++i)
{
final int pos = sourceCharacters.indexOf(sourceString[i]);
result[i] = pos!=-1 ? targetCharactersArray[pos] : sourceString[i];
}
// result
String resultString = new String(result);
Any ideas?
Btw, the UTF-8 characters are causing the trouble, with US_ASCII it works fine.
(this is related to another question about implementation on iPhone)
I have a large image, size around 30000 (w) x 6000 (h) pixels. You may consider it's like a big map. I assume I need to crop it up into smaller tiles. Questions:
what is the tile strategy?
Requirements:
whole image (though cropped) can be scrolled up/down/left/right by swipes
zoom in (up to pixel-to-pixel) out (down to screen-fit-by-height) by the 2-finger operation
memory efficiency by lazy loading tiles
Thanks!
I am going to be building an AIR application that shows a list (about 1-25 rows of data) from a data-base. The data-base is on the web. I want the list to be as accurate as possible, meaning as soon as the data-base data changes, the list displayed in the app should update asap. I do not know of anyway that the air application could be notified when there is a change, I am thinking I am going to have to poll the data-base at certain intervals to keep an up to date list. So my question is, first is there any way to NOT have to keep checking the data-base? or if I do keep have to keep checking the data-base what is a reasonable interval to do that at?
Thanks.
I am working on an application which requires matching of numbers from a scanned image file to database entry and update the database with the match result.
Say I have image- employee1.jpg. This image will have two two handwritten entries - Employee number and the amount to be paid to the employee. I have to read the employee number from the image and query the database for the that number, update the employee with the amount to be paid as got from the image. Both the employee number and amount to be paid are written inside two boxes at a specified place on the image.
Is there any way to automate this. Basically I want a solution in .net using c#. I know this can be done using artificial neural networks.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.
Hi all!
I Use this code:
NSString* strName = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"img_00%d.jpg", pp];
and works fine, but if pp took the value of 10 for example I wish have img_010.jpg as result, and not img_0010.jpg...
how can I format the string??
thanks
Hello,
I am trying to combine two integers in my application. By combine I mean stick one byte stream at the end of the other, not concatenate the strings.
The two integers are passed from hardware that can't pass a 32 bit value directly, but passes two consecutive 16-bit values separately.
Thanks,
Here is a snap of my database.
Both col1 and col2 are declared as int.
My ComputedColumn currently adds the Columns 1 and 2, as follows...
col1 col2 ComputedColumn
1 2 3
4 1 5
Instead of this, my ComputedColumn should join the columns 1 and 2 (includimg the '-' character in the middle) as follows...
col1 col2 ComputedColumn
1 2 1-2
4 1 4-1
So, what is the correct syntax?
hi all,
i'm accessing the stylesheet collection like this:
var css = document.styleSheets[0];
it returns eg. http://www.mydomain.com/css/main.css
question: how can i strip the domain name to just get /css/main.css ?
thx
Hello all,
I have 2 HLSL ps2.0 shaders. Simplified, they are:
Shader 1
Reads texture
Outputs colour value based on this texture
Shader 2
Needs to read in existing colour (or have it passed in/read from a register)
Outputs the final colour which is a function of the previous colour
(They need to be different shaders as I've reached the maximum vertex-shader outputs for 1 shader)
My problem is I cannot work out how Shader 2 can access the existing fragment/pixel colour.
Is the only way for shaders to interact really just the alpha blending options? These aren't sufficient if I want to use the colour as input to my function.
I have a string that I would like represented uniquely as an integer.
For example: A3FJEI = 34950140
How would I go about writing a EncodeAsInteger(string) method. I understand that the amount of characters in the string will make the integer increase greatly, forcing the value to become a long, not an int.
Since I need the value to be an integer, I don't need the numerical representation to be entirely unique to the string.
Maybe I can foreach through all the characters of the string and sum the numerical keycode of the character.
I am trying to pull dynamics from a load that I run using bash. I have gotten to a point where I get the string I want, now from this I want to pull certain information that can vary. The string that gets returned is as follows:
Records: 2910 Deleted: 0 Skipped: 0 Warnings: 0
Each of the number can and will vary in length, but the overall structure will remain the same. What I want to do is be able to get these numbers and load them into some bash variables ie:
RECORDS=??
DELETED=??
SKIPPED=??
WARNING=??
In regex I would do it like this:
Records: (\d*?) Deleted: (\d*?) Skipped (\d*?) Warnings (\d*?)
and use the 4 groups in my variables.
How can I use PHP to strip out all characters that are NOT alpha, numeric, space, or puncutation?
I've tried the following, but it strip punctuation.
preg_replace("/[^a-zA-Z0-9\s]/", "", $str);
Hi,
I m developing flex application, in which I want to Draw Image from User local hard-drive to the canvas of size 640x360.
User can choose Image of bigger resolution & is scaled to Canvas size.
But if user selected images of larger resolution like 3000x2000, the scaling take lot time & freezes the application until scale done.
Is there any method to scale image faster or kind of threading can be done?
I am using matrix to scale Image as below:
var mat:Matrix = new Matrix();
var scalex:Number = canvasScreen.width/content.width;
var scaley:Number = canvasScreen.height/content.height;
mat.scale(scalex,scaley);
canvasScreen.graphics.clear();
canvasScreen.graphics.beginBitmapFill(content.bitmapData,mat);
Hi,
I am looking for a regular expression for matching that contains no white space in between text but it may or may not have white space at start or end of text.
"8,5,,1,4,7,,,,7,,1,9,3,6,,,8,6,3,9,,2,5,4,,,,,3,2,,,7,4,1,1,,4,,6,9,,5,,,,5,,,1,,6,3,,,6,5,,,,7,4,,1,7,6,,,,8,,5,,,7,1,,3,9,"
I'm doing a programming challenge where i need to parse this sequence into my sudoku script.
Need to get the above sequence into 8,5,0,1,4,7,0,0,0,7,0,1,9,3,6,0,0,8.........
I tried re but without success, help is appreciated, thanks.
Hello people,
I have three images,and , they are not square or rectangular in shape. They are just like face of anyone.
So,basically, my images are in the size 196x196 or anything like that, but complete square or rectangle with the face in the middle and transperant background in the rest of the portion.
Now, I want to remove the transperant background too and just keep the faces.
Don't know if this is possible and mind you, this isn't a programming question.
