• I can't understand GroupJoin where i will need it in database relationships.

  Hello Everybody I am thinking 5-6 hours to understand something about GroupJoin. I am talking about query with linq for Database tables.I understand what Join and GroupJoin does but I really couldn't understand where i will need it.I feel that Join does all what i will need but if there is something which Join can't without GroupJoin so i feel that situation is meaningless or useless. For example: Persons table in relation with Phones and Phones table hold foreign keys of Persons and one person can have one more phone number.If we want to brings all persons who has phone numbers and who hasn't too so we will need GroupJOin but what for we will need this query ? Can u give me good reason , example or explenation for using GroupJoin ?

  I have a query that is looking at a 'page_views' table. And I so far have the ability to get the total views by day. However, I am having an issue with getting unique views by day. The column I am testing against is user_id... Here's the query I have for total views. SELECT site_id, CONCAT(month(created_at) , '-', day(created_at), '-' , year(created_at)) as created_at_date, COUNT(*) as total_results FROM page_views GROUP BY day(created_at) I can't figure out the logic to just get the unique views, by day based on the user_id column though.

• How can I find days between different paired rows?

  I've been racking my brain about how to do this in one query without PHP code. In a nutshell, I have a table that records email activity. For the sake of this example, here is the data: recipient_id activity date 1 delivered 2011-08-30 1 open 2011-08-31 2 delivered 2011-08-30 3 delivered 2011-08-24 3 open 2011-08-30 3 open 2011-08-31 The goal: I want to display to users a single number that tells how many recipients open their email within 24 hours. E.G. "Users that open their email within 24 hours: 13 Readers" In the case of the sample data, above, the value would be "1". (Recipient one was delivered an email and opened it the next day. Recipient 2 never opened it and recipient 3 waited 5 days.) Can anyone think of a way to express the goal in a single query? Reminder: In order to count, the person must have a 'delivered' tag and at least one 'open' tag. Each 'open' tag only counts once per recipient.

  I have a MySQL table with the following columns: id(int), date (timestamp), starttime(varchar), endtime(varchar), ... I need to find time slots that are occupied by two or more rows. I need a query to identify such colliding rows - something that would give me the ID of all rows in the collision.   I'm not sure if this is even a good question or not. I have a complex query with lot's of unions that searches multiple tables for a certain keyword (user input). All tables in which there is searched are related to the table book. There is paging on the resultset using LIMIT, so there's always a maximum of 10 results that get withdrawn. I want an extra column in the resultset displaying the total amount of results found however. I do not want to do this using a seperate query. Is it possible to add a count() column to the resultset that counts every result found? the output would look like this: ID Title Author Count(...) 1 book_1 auth_1 23 2 book_2 auth_2 23 4 book_4 auth_.. 23 ... Thanks!

  I have several TEXT and/or MEDIUMTEXT fields in each of our 1000 MySQL tables. I now know that TEXT fields are written to disk rather than in memory when queried. Is that also true even if that field is not called in the query? For example, if I have a table (tbExam) with 2 fields (id int(11) and comment text) and I run SELECT id FROM tbExam, does MySQL still have to write that to disk before returning results or will it run that query in memory? I am trying to figure out if I need to reconfigure our actual db tables to switch to varchar(xxxx) or keep the text fields and reconfigure the queries.

  I Have a script, getting text from DB and post it on other DB. Problem is, if I have a Text lngen then 840 Words, I can't call this page. Get an error about "Not Found" or "Connection brocken" or what ever. In FF i get no error, only blank page. I found out the Problem is in lenght of the query i send... but how can i fix it??? My it be the Problem, if a query is longer then 6000 Characters?

I have the three following tables: users (id, name) products (id, name) owners (userid, productid, date) One product can be sold by user A to user B and then back to A. Now, I want the list of all products currently owned by every single user with the date of transaction. Currently, my query is this one, but I'm stuck with old data (first association of one product to one user, and not the newest one): SELECT users.name, products.name, date FROM products JOIN owners ON products.id = owners.id JOIN users ON owners.id = user.id GROUP BY product.id Do you have some hints? • DNS query appending parent suffix twice

  We're having an issue with DNS clients not being able to resolve certain FQDNs. Within the same domain in which the problem occurs, doing an nslookup against a host name works. However, an nslookup against the hostname.domain.parentdomain1.parentdomain2.net doesn't work. Weird, from outside that domain, the same FQDN query works. Clients in both domains are using the same DNS servers, which are in the "parentdomain1" example. The nslookup comes back with: Non-authoritative answer: Name: hostname.domain.parentdomain1.parentdomain2.net.parentdomain2.net Address: 209.62.20.188 So, the client is appending the "parentdomain2.net" twice. Would appreciate any assistance.

Problem: When a query throws an exception on the remote server (Oracle DB) the SQL Server instance crashes. The logs say that the crash was due to some problem with the RPC call. Is there a way in which I can prevent the entire server to collapse but also use RPC over my linked server. EDIT: Event Log SQL Server is terminating because of fatal exception c0000005. This error may be caused by an unhandled Win32 or C++ exception, or by an access violation encountered during exception handling. Check the SQL error log for any related stack dumps or messages. This exception forces SQL Server to shutdown. To recover from this error, restart the server (unless SQLAgent is configured to auto restart). • 4.5.1 4.4.0 DNS Query Failed

  We are running Exchange 2010 and lately I have noticed that some outgoing messages get stuck in the queue with the error "451 4.4.0 DNS Query Failed". On every domain that this happens on I have been able to use nslookup to find the MX record and open a connection to their server over SMTP so I am reasonably sure that this problem is on my end. My send connector isn't routing mail through a smart host nor is is set to use a different DNS server to do the lookup so I'm stumped as to why these messages aren't going out. Any ideas?

  Codeigniter rewrites query strings like the following: http://somedomain.com/index.php?q=something to become: http://somedomain.com/index.php/q/something I'd like to imitate this behavior on a (very) lightweight website I am developing for a wedding RSVP system. I don't want the bloat of codeigniter, nor do I need anything else that it provides. The only thing I'd like is this. Unfortunately, I don't know how to setup a mod-rewrite rule that accomplishes this. I can setup a rule that translates /q/something into ?q=something, but I can't get one that does that without changing the URL the user is viewing. I'm basically looking for something that is, in effect, a "silent" version of the rewrite. That is, I want something that rewrites q/something to ?q=something, but leaves the user's URL in their address bar as q/something. Thanks in advance!

  I am trying this script to query performance counters in different localized windows server versions. http://www.powershellmagazine.com/2013/07/19/querying-performance-counters-from-powershell/ Everything works as in the article, well partially :-) I am trying to access a counter ID 3906 Terminal Services Session and works well for English windows. However for example in French and German that counter doesn't exist under that ID. I think I figured to find the exact counter under ID 1548 in french and German, but that ID in English is something completely different. Anybody seen this behavior on the performance counters?

• MySQL query (over SSL) fails in IIS 7 using default AppPool identity

  I am trying to run a website locally in Windows 7 under IIS 7. I have the AppPool configured to use "Classic" mode, but connecting to a MySQL DB that requires SSL fails. If I change the identity to my user account it works perfectly. It fails when using the default "ApplicationPoolIdentity" account. Is there something I'm missing somewhere? Why would running a MySQL query over SSL fail for certain user accounts? Update: This is the exception that the MySQL Connector is throwing: "Reading from the stream has failed. Attempted to read past the end of the stream."

• AuthResend query string being appended to URL

  One of our clients is having an issue where POSTBACK seems to be broken when they connect to our Sharepoint application. When they navigate to a URL, an erroneous query string gets appended to the URL, so the end of the URL becomes: .../default.aspx&AuthResend1908BC2350124b5095AB75012FA405BA this isn't something that appears on any other clients computers or ours internally. This is the only difference and it seems to be breaking their pages. I had a quick Google and it seems that it's to do with a Microsoft ISA server, but I have no experience with that. Is this a bug or setting on their ISA server?

• PHP+AJAX with MySQL - Query every 2 seconds, too many in TIME_WAIT

  I have a basic HTML file, using jQuery's ajax, that is connecting to my polling.php script every 2 seconds. The polling.php simply connections to mysql, checks for ID's newer than my hidden, stored current ID, and then echo's if there is anything new. Since the javascript is connecting every 2 seconds, I am getting thousands of connections in TIME_WAIT, just for my client. This is because my script is re-connecting to MySQL over and over again. I have tried mysql_pconnect but it didn't help any. Is there any way I can get PHP to open 1 connection, and continue to query using it? Instead of reconnecting every single time and making all these TIME_WAIT connections. Unsure what to do here to make this work properly.

• Cannot WMI Query root\MSCluster namespace as Local Admin

  I'm trying to use WMI Explorer to query the root\MSCluster namespace on various hosts to obtain cluster resource group and resource object data. I can access the namespace with no issue on Win2K3 cluster nodes but am getting an access denied error attempting to connect to Win2K8 and Win2K8R2 nodes. I can access the root\cimv2 namespace with no issue, just the MSCluster namespace even though I am a local Admin. Is there a feature setting, local security policy or server role I have to be a member of to access the namespace? Thank you!
