I need to compare two times to determine if one is more than twice as long as the other: if ( timeA / timeB > 2 ) What's the simplest way to work with the time strings?   • Use WampServer's MySQL as a real MySQL for going on the net.

    Is this a right thing to do? I am using the Apache/Tomcat that comes with the liferay portal bundle and I used the MySQL that comes with WampServer at home but now I want to transfer my portal to a real Server and I wanted to know whether I could still use the Wamp's MySQL or should I install a real MySQL (What's the difference?)     Does anyone have any good answer what kind of difference there is between using some arbitrary pre-formatted Excel 2007 *.xlsx file as a template, loading it in my C# app, and filling up some of its cells with data using the Microsoft OpenXML SDK versus creating specific Excel templates (*.xltx) files and using those as basis for my "data filling" exercise Do I loose something when I don't use the Excel templates (*.xltx)?     I would like to know the number of users logged into my ASP.NET 2.0 application. Points to be considered: 1) Simplest way would be to use Application or Cache object to have the counts on Session start or end. However this would fail if there is a worker process recycle. Wouldn't it? 2) Should't make a difference whether the session is inproc/state server managed/ or SQL server managed. 3) Should preferably be seamless to a web-farm architecture.

I am using a UTF8 charset. not sure if this makes a difference....

What's going on here to account for the difference?

  • jQuery is not defined on my staging server but works fine on my local

    If you pop open this page with your javascript console, you'll notice a bunch of JS errors. I don't get these errors in my local environment and it seems like it is happening because $ is not defined. I have tried to mimic my local environment exactly on staging by using the same environment.rb file and removing all JS caching but it is making no difference. Can anyone tell why jQuery is crapping out? It might be something really stupid, but I need a second pair of eyes.

    Is it bad to write: if (b == false) //... while (b != true) //... Is it always better to instead write: if (!b) //... while (!b) //... Presumably there is no difference in performance (or is there?), but how do you weigh the explicitness, the conciseness, the clarity, the readability, etc between the two? Note: the variable name b is just used as an example, ala foo and bar.

    Why do I see a difference when I convert a unix timestamp to datetime object in R? > as.POSIXlt(1268736919, origin="1970-01-01", tz="America/New_York") [1] "2010-03-16 06:55:19 EDT" > as.POSIXct(1268736919, origin="1970-01-01", tz="America/New_York") [1] "2010-03-16 11:55:19 EDT" The result from POSIXlt is actually correct. Also, is there a way to do this conversion without specifying the origin? Thanks
