Is this only possible to track using a third party in order to know he isn't lying? I want to compile a list of influential people in our industry who can be termed as "opinionated" and thought leaders. There are basically two characteristics that I'm referring to here: The person has introduced new concepts/terminology/trends or talked about existing ones in thought provoking way. How best to take a users signature online? (UK law orientated) [closed]

Not sure if this is the best place to ask, but I can't seem to find any of the other SE sites that would fit better (unless there's a law one?) I'm building an application that will replace an existing paper based form, and this form would normally be signed by the person filling it in. Looking around, it's hard to find a good definitive resource to explain what I can and cannot accept as far as a signature goes. It looks like some UK government online forms accept just your name typed into a box, but I've also heard you should back up with an email - so that process would be type name into a box along with providing an email address, send out an email, then make them click a link within the email to finally complete the verification. Involving email seems very long winded and leaves the system open to spam filters blocking emails, forgotten emails that just sit in inbox's etc. So, does anyone have any knowledge in this department? Personally, I'd love to just get them to type their name into a box and be done with it!

JSR 355, JCP Executive Committee Merge, is currently nearing the end of the Public Review period. Review the current draft here and provide feedback here. The review closes on 12 June 2012. The JCP Executive Committee met face to face in Sao Paulo, Brazil earlier in May, and has published a revision (version 2.1) of the EC Standing Rules. The EC Standing Rules were introduced in October 2011 with the launch of JCP version 2.8 (JSR 348). Version 2.1 of the EC Standing Rules will modify rules for attendance at EC face-to-face meetings. Remote observers will be permitted in "read-only" mode but unless a member attends in person they will be counted as absent. The review period for these changes will close on June 30 2012. Please comment on the proposed changes by logging an issue in the JCP EC issue tracker.

Learn a language bottom-up or top-down?

When starting the first project in a new language, you have basically two approaches to learning. Either you do a quick Google search, pull together the most popular frameworks and libraries and work your way from their tutorials towards what you want to achieve (top-down). Or you start with the language basics and the standard library and by and by replace your own simple components with more sophisticated third-party components once you know what you're searching for (bottom-up). Now I'm about to embark on my first serious Javascript project. There's probably as much to know about the language as there is about jQuery, ExtJS and whathaveyou, and I'm trying to decide what to focus on.

Options for secure git -repo hosting?

I need a secure git -repo host, either by third-party or by myself. I am not sure how so outlining some ideas. Please, answer how you manage git -repos securely -- do you use some service or do you use only your 'legs' -approach? Afaik Bitbucket.org and Github.com are missing Gmail -style second-verification. Now I need this kind of login-system with password and mobile-phone to access the administration things in the git -hosting or ability to disable this kind of access without private -key. Confusion about Rotation matrices from Euler Angles

I am trying to learn more about Euler Angles so as to help myself in understanding how I can control my camera better in the game. I came across the following formula that converts Euler Angles to rotation matrices: In the equation, I could see that the first matrix from the left is the rotation matrix about x-axis, the second is about y-axis and the third is about z-axis. From my understanding about ordinary matrix transformations, the later transformation is always applied to the right hand side. And if I'm right about this, then the above equation should have a rotation order starting from rotating about z-axis, y-axis, then finally x-axis. But, from the symbols it seems that the rotation order start rotating about x-axis, then y-axis, then finally z-axis. What should the actual order of the rotation be? Also, I am confuse about if the input vector, in this case, would be a row vector on the left, or a column vector on the right?

I have a client who currently runs a venue and has ticket purchases made available through a third party. The way the site currently works is that there is a standard href in the nav menu to the ticket purchasing site. <a href'http://example.com/events'>Events</a> <a href'http://example.com/about'>About</a> <a href'https://someticketvendor.com/myclient?blah'>Tickets</a> They claim that they want to improve their SEO by appearing to integrate the ticket pages into their site. Having spoken to the ticket vendor, they only offer integration through iframes which is just horrible. I don't really know much about SEO but I'm wondering if I can create an htaccess rule to have http://example.com/tickets forward to href'https://someticketvendor.com/myclient?blah Are they are any negative SEO implications to doing this? Is there a better way this could be done?

I loose some directories when i upgrade from Ubuntu 11.10 to 12.04

last day i upgraded my ubunut 11.10 desktop to ubuntu 12.04. I was running a KVM virtual about 7 machines and managed by virt-manage software.... anyway when i finished upgrading i found that virt-manager is not working so i have to reconfigure it again and install some other missing packages that was deleted!!!! anyway i solve this issue...then i started to restore my virtual machines i restore 2 machines without any problems the third and fourth ones (windows) make a check disk that takes more that 6 hours but finally it works... other machines i cant find their attached hard disks i don't know what happens but i cant found that files. 1- upgrading delete files!?!! 2- Is there anyway to restore those files? thanks in advance

Open Source License that prevents re-selling

I have an open source project that is a add-in to TFS (ie it is for developers and those using TFS.) It is currently using the GPL. But it occurs to me that the GPL does not really represent what I am trying to do with my license. I want my code to be free to everyone who wants to use it. And if you modify it and use it then that is great too. You should not have to open source your modifications. But I would like to block someone from building my code and selling it. Or modifying it and selling it. (Anyone that wants to do that should have to negotiate a separate license with me.) Is there an open source license that prevents re-selling, but allows full non-vending use for a person/company that downloads it?

A new release of the Sun Rack II capacity calculator is available on eSTEP portal. The tool calculates all the data necessary (power requirements, BTU, number of rack units, needed power outlets etc.) while inserting the many different kind of HW equipment in aSun Rack II cabinet (version 1000 and 1200). Drop in service for account management, authentication, identity?

I'm building an Android app and associated set of web services for uploading/downloading data. I need a basic (no frills) solution for account management (register, login, logout, verify credentials/token). What open source / third party solutions exist for this scenario? I need: create a new account db based on a salt simple web service to create a new account simple web service to authenticate supplied credentials and return some sort of token That's it, I can get by without 'fancy' email activation or password reset for the time being. Are there off-the-shelf components for this? Should I just use a 'blank' django or rails app to get this done? Seems crazy for everyone to be doing CREATE TABLE user_accounts ... Thoughts? How can I make my game more popular without paying money?

I am a game designer, software developer, composer and graphic artist and made the 3D Hack 'n Slay MMO Forgotten Elements on my own. It's playable at open Beta and will be released at the end of the year. I used Plain Old JAVA, JPCT 3D Engine, Tomcat Webserver and Blender 3D / Gimp to manage all the tasks. I developed the whole game from scratch. For me the hardest task in this challenge is probably the whole thing about marketing and advertisement. Because it is a independent project and I am the only person working on it, there is no money I could invest for making advertisement. But anyhow... How could it be possible to make this game more popular? What would you suggest me?

Should I concentrate on writing code for money or my studies while in college?

I am college student of Software Engineering. My worries are that while I am concentrating on my studies, my peers are getting down with the code (e.g. HTML, ASP, PHP, etc) to earn money. Should I be worried that I am not doing coding like them? I was asked to be Microsoft Student Partner but I refused because the person what was doing before me told it was just arranging events. Nothing as such like getting with Microsoft and coding. Should I be writing code and earning money as I still am in 4th semester? I only have C++ as learning language in college. Will my job count on these projects that I do, or should I concentrate on studies for now to get maximum benefit?
