• Javascript/Jquery Super Scrollorama Navigation Issues

  On a Wordpress site I am currently working on, my client wanted the different sections of the front page to slide up from the bottom and cover up the previous section, like a wipe or slide transition. Using super scrollorama found here: http://johnpolacek.github.com/superscrollorama/, I managed to achieve the desired result. Next, I needed to create a navigation menu on the front page only. I did so, and set anchors at various different points on the pages. I also used the scrollTo library for scolling animations when I click the nav menu links. However, there are a number of problems I have encountered: When at the top and I click "showcase", it brings me down to the showcase section, but the products section (the div right after it) is overlapping it. Other divs seems to have the same problem of the following divs overlapping the current one I can only navigate forwards. When I try to go backwards, it won't (except for "Home") I thought it might have something to do with the CSS "top" property of the divs, so I tried resetting them every time the click function kicked in, but it didn't work. So I removed it for the time being. Currently set the javascript to prevent the default action of scrolling to the anchors and instead setting it to scroll to the actual divs themselves. However, I'm still having the same issues. • mod rewrite regex

  The plan is to take domain.com/chat2/roomnumber and redirect to domain.com/chat2/index.php?room_id=roomnumber. Here's my code that's NOT workin: RewriteEngine on RewriteRule ^/chat2/([a-z0-9_-]+)/$ /index.php?room_id=$1 [NC,L] RewriteRule ^/chat2/([a-z0-9_-]+)$ /index.php?room_id=$1 [NC,L] I get sent to the 404 page. I'm guessing the problem is my placement of the ^ but I'm not certain.

• s3fs not maintaining uid/gid

  I'm mounting s3 using s3fs with the following command: sudo /usr/local/bin/s3fs -o use_cache=/tmp,uid=1000,gid=1000,allow_other svn.domain.com /svn Allow_other is confirmed to be working along with cache. However, no variation/different placement of the uid/gid's is having any affect in the meta data on S3. Both the uid and gid come up as '0' in S3. I have created a user called svn with uid of 1000 to see if that would fix the problem. No luck.

• Have Ubuntu auto-connect to wireless AP without logging in

  We have an ubuntu box set up to do some monitoring but due to the placement are unable to run CAT5 to the box itself. I have an Atheros PCI card that works great as long as someone is logged into Gnome and it doesn't disconnect from the AP during that time. Is there a way to have Ubuntu connect to the AP during boot, and always reconnect if it finds a signal from a specified AP? The box would have a static IP and only connecting to a specific AP using WEP.

  On windows I have a few AutoHotkey scripts that let me hit various key combinations to resize windows to particular pre-defined sizes, or move them to certain areas of the screen (or both). I'm wondering how I would accomplish this in Ubuntu (gnome). Most of the searches I did for a linux version of autohotkey seemed to be centered around just setting up simple keyboard shortcuts (key combo X launches app Y, etc). I didn't see anything about scripting window size and placement beyond maximize/minimize.

I've used tools (PostScript, various vector drawing programs) that do one of these modes well, but leave me pining for the other model. Which tools should I be investigating? I'm currently on OS X. Examples: Creating diagrams with precise spacing, sets of cards, either likely drawing from some sort of data.

• Add animation when user control get visible and collapsed In Wpf

  I have two xaml files MainWindow.xaml and other user control WorkDetail.xaml file. MainWindow.xaml file has a textbox, button, listbox and reference to WorkDetail.xaml(user control which is collapsed). Whenever user enter any text, it gets added in listbox when the add button is clicked. When any items from the listbox is double clicked, the visibility of WorkDetail.xaml is set to Visible and it gets displayed. In WorkDetail.xaml (user control) it has textblock and button. The Textblock displays the text of selected item and close button sets the visibility of WorkDetail window to collapsed. Now i am trying to animate WorkDetail.xaml when it gets visible and collapse. When any items from listbox is double clicked and WorkDetail.xaml visibility is set to visible, i want to create an animation of moving WorkDetail.xaml window from right to left on MainWindow. When Close button from WorkDetail.xaml file is clicked and WorkDetail.xaml file is collapsed, i want to slide the WorkDetail.xaml file from left to right from MainWindow. • WPF DataGrid and Avalon TimePicker binding problem

My problem is that bindings are not working inside the DataGrid, and I have no clue of why this isn't working. • problem with sIFR 3 not displaying in IE just getting XXX

  I am having a problem with sIFR 3 not displaying in IE. I get 3 larges black XXX in IE yet it displays fine in Firefox. I have checked i do have the most recent version of flash installed correctly. • AVAudioRecorder Memory Leak

I've been working on an application that allows the end user to record a small audio file for later playback and am in the process of testing for memory leaks. I continue to very consistently run into a memory leak when the AVAudioRecorder's "stop" method attempts to close the audio file to which it's been recording. This really seems to be a leak in the framework itself, but if I'm being a bonehead you can tell me. To illustrate, I've worked up a stripped down test app that does nothing but start/stop a recording w/ the press of a button. • pyQt4: QWidget subclass not responding to new setStyleSheet() background colour

  I am having an issue with PyQt4. I want to create a new widget within a window, and I want this widget to have a custom color. When i create a subclass of the QWidget class, and instantiate it, I am not able to change its background color through the setStyleSheet() function. When I instantiate a new QWidget object, I have no problems in changing its background color. But i dont want an ordinary QWidget object.I want to create my own subclass of QWidget. When i create a subclass of a QPushButton, I am also able to change its background color using the setStyleSheet() function. There are no error messages or warnings in the console window, it just refuses to work properly without any indication as to why. So what i would like to know is why is it that i can change the background color of a widget if i simply create a QWidget object, or a subclass of QPushButton, but not when i create a subclass of QWidget. And how can i therefore change the background color of an object that is a subclass of QWidget? Is it maybe something specific to the version of python or PyQt that i am using? Is it a bug in the library? or some flaw in the way that i am writing my code? I am using python 2.6.4 and PyQt4 Below is an example of the code that leads me to trouble. There are three widgets within the window one below the other. The parent widget is set with background color of green. • Dumb IE6 resize behaviour - hope it rings some bells with someone

  Hi, I'm having no end of fun (sic) with jQuery.tabs. The widget is quite crafty in that it turns basic HTML like so <div> <ul> <li>Tab #1</li> ... </ul> <div for panel #1> </div> <div for panel #2> </div> ... </div> into a cute tabbed dialogue. (It does so by restyling the UL and then toggling the "display" attribute for the panel DIVs to show/not show whatever panel is selected.) Now I found that I can spare myself a lot of trouble in my JS project if I insert a scrollable IFRAME into each panel. One usability problem I'm trying to ameliorate is that when the tabbed panel becomes larger than the browser's window, then the user ends up with too many scrollbars. I am trying to avoid this situation by linking the size of the tabbed panel to that of $(window). That is, I trap and process the resize event on $(window). To make my life bearable, all components are relatively sized. This is also true, in particular, of the IFRAMEs (100% width, 100% height). The only exception are the panel DIVs, which are of fixed height (in px). And this is the only dimension css attribute that I manipulate during my resize action. All of this works a treat in FF and Chrome, but IE6 is doing something rather cute: So long as I do not affect the width of the browser window (but only change its height), only the panel DIV changes in height; the IFRAME contained will not change. As a result of this behaviour, it is not possible to shorten the tabbed panel below the height of the IFRAME. I can lengthen the DIV, yes. But the IFRAME will not fill the panel in that case. All becomes good the moment I make the slightest change to the width of the browser window. In that moment, the IFRAME expands to catch up with the extended DIV or DIV and IFRAME contract in tandem. Bizarre. I inserted useless CSS instructions like "position: relative" and "zoom: 1". Also nudged the display with "display: block". No joy so far. Any ideas? Thanks.

• Unable to add item to dataset in Linq to SQL

  I am having an issue adding an item to my dataset in Linq to SQL. I am using the exact same method in other tables with no problem. I suspect I know the problem but cannot find an answer (I also suspect all i really need is the right search term for Google). Please keep in mind this is a learning project (Although it is in use in a business) I have posted my code and datacontext below. What I am doing is: Create a view model (Relevant bits are shown) and a simple wpf window that allows editing of 3 properties that are bound to the category object. Category is from the datacontext. Edit works fine but add does not. If I check GetChangeSet() just before the db.submitChanges() call there are no adds, edits or deletes. I suspect an issue with the fact that a Category added without a Subcategory would be an orphan but I cannot seem to find the solution. • Is there a way to split a widescreen monitor in to two or more virtual monitors?

  Like most developers I have grown to love dual monitors. I won't go into all the reasons for their goodness; just take it as a given. However, they are not perfect. You can never seem to line them up "just right". You always end up with the monitors at slight funny angles. And of course the bezel always gets in the way. And this is with identical monitors. The problem is much worse with different monitors -- VMWare's multi monitor feature won't even work with monitors of differnt resolutions. When you use multiple monnitors, one of them becomes your primary monitor of focus. Your focus may flip from one monitor to the other, but at any point in time you are usually focusing on only one monitor. There are exceptions to this (WinDiff, Excel), but this is generally the case. I suggest that having a single large monitor with all the benefits of multiple smaller monitors would be a better solution. Wide screen monitors are fantastic, but it is hard to use all the space efficiently. If you are writing code you are generally working on the left-hand side of the window. If you maximize an editor on a wide-screen monitor the right-hand side of the window will be a sea of white. Programs like WinSplit Revolution will help to organise your windows, but this is really just addressing the symptom, not the problem. Even with WinSplit Revolution, when you maximise a window it will take up the whole screen. You can't lock a window into a specific section of the screen. This is where virtual monitors comes in. What would be really nice is a video driver that sits on top of the existing driver, but allows a single monitor to be virtualised into multiple monitors. Control Panel would see your single physical monitor as two or more virtual monitors. The software could even support a virtual bezel to emphasise what is happening, or you could opt for seamless mode. Programs like WinSplit Revolution and UltraMon would still work. This virtual video driver would allow you to slice & dice your physical monitor into as many virtual monitors as you want. Does anybody know if such software exists? If not, are there any budding Windows display driver guru's out there willing to take up the challenge? I am not after the myriad of virtual desktop/window manager programs that are available. I get frustrated with these programs. They seem good at first but they usually have some strange behaviour and don't work well with other programs (such as WinSplit Revolution). I want the real thing!

• Unset/Change Binding in WPF

  How can I unset the binding applied to an object so that I can apply another binding to it from a different location? Suppose I have two data templates binded to the same object reference. Data Template #1 is the default template to be loaded. I try to bind a button command to a Function1 from my DataContext class: <Button Content="Button 1" CommandParameter="{Binding }" Command="{Binding DataContext.Function1, RelativeSource={RelativeSource AncestorType={x:Type Window}}}"/> This actually works and the function gets binded. However, when I try to load Data Template # 2 to the same object (while trying to bind another button command to a different function (Function2) from my DataContext class): <Button Content="Button 2" CommandParameter="{Binding }" Command="{Binding DataContext.Function2, RelativeSource={RelativeSource AncestorType={x:Type Window}}}" /> It doesn't work and the first binding is still the one executed. Is there a workaround to this? • DataGridView cells not editable when using an outside thread call

  Hi, I'm not able to edit my datagridview cells when a number of identical calls takes place on another thread. Here's the situation: Dataset table is created in the main window The program receives in files and processes them on a background thread in class TorrentBuilder : BackgroundWorker creating an array objects of another class Torrent My program receives those objects from the BW result and adds them into the dataset The above happens either on my main window thread or in another thread: I have a separate thread watching a folder for files to come in, and when they do come in, they proceed to call TorrentBuilder.RunWorkerAsynch() from that thread, receive the result, and call an outside class that adds the Torrent objects into the table. When the files are received by the latter thread, the datagridview isn't editable. All of the values come up properly into the datagridview, but when I click on a cell to edit it: I can write letters and everything, but when I click out of it, it immediately reverts back to its original value. If I restart the program, I can edit the same cells just fine. If the values are freshly added from the main window thread, I can edit the cells just fine. The outside thread is called from my main window thread, and sits there in the background. I don't believe it to be ReadOnly because I would have gotten an exception.   Hi, I want to create a 2 way bind between a listbox and a .NET list. In my GUI, I have a listbox, a textbox and add and remove buttons. The listbox displays cars, and my goal is to create a 2way bind between the .Net car list and the listbox: when the user enters a car into the textbox, it gets updated only in the .Net list, and the listbox is updated automatically. When the user press the GUI "remove" button, a car gets removed from the GUI and the .Net list is updated automatically.   On Linux Ubuntu 11.04, after each command (cd, ls, vim...) successful or not, tmux prints out as a last line ps1_update: command not found. Is there any config option I am missing? • Add Your Gmail Account to Outlook 2010 Using IMAP

  If you’re upgrading from Outlook 2003 to 2010, you might want to use IMAP with your Gmail account to synchronize mail across multiple machines. Using our guide, you will be able to start using it in no time. Enable IMAP in Gmail First log into your Gmail account and open the Settings panel. Click on the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab and verify IMAP is enabled and save changes. Next open Outlook 2010, click on the File tab to access the Backstage view. Click on Account Settings and Add and remove accounts or change existing connection settings. In the Account Settings window click on the New button. Enter in your name, email address, and password twice then click Next. Outlook will configure the email server settings, the amount of time it takes will vary. Provided everything goes correctly, the configuration will be successful and you can begin using your account. Manually Configure IMAP Settings If the above instructions don’t work, then we’ll need to manually configure the settings. Again, go into Auto Account Setup and select Manually configure server settings or additional server types and click Next.   Select Internet E-mail – Connect to POP or IMAP server to send and receive e-mail messages. Now we need to manually enter in our settings similar to the following. Under the Server Information section verify the following. Account Type: IMAP Incoming mail server: imap.gmail.com Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.gmail.com Note: If you have a Google Apps account make sure to put the full email address ([email protected]) in the Your Name and User Name fields. Note: If you live outside of the US you might need to use imap.googlemail.com and smtp.googlemail.com Next, we need to click on the More Settings button… In the Internet E-mail Settings screen that pops up, click on the Outgoing Server tab, and check the box next to My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication. Also select the radio button next to Use same settings as my incoming mail server. In the same window click on the Advanced tab and verify the following. Incoming server: 993 Incoming server encrypted connection: SSL Outgoing server encrypted connection TLS Outgoing server: 587 Note: You will need to change the Outgoing server encrypted connection first, otherwise it will default back to port 25. Also, if TLS doesn’t work, we were able to successfully use Auto. Click OK when finished. Now we want to test the settings, before continuing on…it’s just easier that way incase something was entered incorrectly. To make sure the settings are tested, check the box Test Account Settings by clicking the Next button. If you’ve entered everything in correctly, both tasks will be completed successfully and you can close out of the window. and begin using your account via Outlook 2010. You’ll get a final congratulations message you can close out of… And begin using your account via Outlook 2010. Conclusion Using IMAP allows you to synchronize email across multiple machines and devices. The IMAP feature in Gmail is free to use, and this should get you started using it with Outlook 2010.
