  I have used the following code to get the document root. $path = get_file_dir(); function get_file_dir() { global $argv; return realpath($argv[0]); } Below code includes config.php and config.php has the $setuprun variable with a value. if((file_exists("$path/admin/config.php"))) { include_once "$path/admin/config.php"; } if($setuprun=="true") { //do some code } In my system, it takes the document root like /home/myname/myfolder and the variable $setuprun has the value and the code works perfectly. But in another user's system, it shows the following error. Notice: Undefined variable: setuprun in /usr/local/www/chat/setup.php on line 22. He is using FreeBSD 8.2 Stable with MySQL 5, PHP5 and Apache 2.2. Can anyone please help me to solve this error?

• What would be my best MySQL Synchronization method?

  We're moving a social media service to be on separate data centers with global load balancing, as our other hosting provider's entire data center went down. Twice. This means that both websites need to be synchronized in some sense -- I'm less worried about the code of the pages, that's easy enough to sync, but they need to have the same database data. From my research on SO, it seems MySQL Replication is a good option, but the MySQL manual, for scaling out, says that its best when there are far more reads then there are writes/updates: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/replication-solutions-scaleout.html In our case, it's about equal. We're getting around 200-300 thousand requests a day right now, and we can grow rapidly. Every request is both a read and write request. What would be the best method or tool to handle this?

  It takes about minute to achieve 3000 in my comp but I need to know the millionth number in the serie. The definition is recursive so I cannot see any shortcuts except to calculate everything before the millionth number. How can you fast calculate millionth number in the serie?   I've been using my own Error reporting module which was combination of simple c# and jQueryUI Dialog. Problem is that once error or success occurs i do write it's value to session. It does work pretty good on pages with Responce.Redirect on error but not on pages where i catch an error and then return to same form. My question is why does session which added pre-postback fails to load in pages where i have return statement on some condition. And if there another way to save errors and success message except in session ? Maybe global variables or something like that ...

  i'm trying to trace the x and y coordinates from within a sprite. i've added a rectangle to the stage: var rect:Rectangle = new Rectangle(10, 10, 200, 200); addChild(rect); adding a Mouse_Move event to the rect, i can trace mouseX and mouseY to receive the coordinates of the stage while moving over the rect, but how do i get the local x and y coordinates? so if i mouse over the very top left of the rect sprite, the mouseX and mouseY return 10 as the global coordinates, but how do i make it return 0 and the local coordinates of the sprite? i assumed localX and localY was what i was looking for, but this doesn't work: function mouseOverTraceCoords(evt:MouseEvent):void { trace(mouseX, mouseY, evt.localX, evt.localY); }

  I have a lot of code in a class library that does not specify CultureInfo.InvariantCulture. For example in toString operations, toBool, toInt, etc. Is there a way I can get set a property for the class library to always execute using CultureInfo.InvariantCulture, even if it is not explicitly specified everywhere in the code? Sort of like a global switch? • setTimeout is acting weird

  I am trying to make a simple setTimeout, to make a div tag invisible after 2 seconds. The setTimeout function makes the div invisible but irregularly, sometimes immediately and sometimes after 1 sec, and so on.   I have some experience with multithread programming under Linux (C/C++ & POSIX threads), however most obvious cases are sometimes very complicated. I have several static constant variables (global and function local) in my code, can I access them simultaneously from multiple threads without using mutexes? Because I don't modify them it should be ok, but it's always better to ask. I have to do heavy speed optimization, so even as fast operations as mutex lock/unlock are quite expensive for me, especially because my application is going to access these variables form long loops.

I need to make the latter function sleep at regular intervals but that seems to be blocking the stdin. Any advice on how to resolve this would be appreciated.   I am using a custom route handler for a webforms application. I am using routes to determine localization. ie: if the url has es or fr in the route it will load either spanish or french resources. for example: www.someroute/es/checkstuff/checkstuff.aspx will load: www.someroute/checkstuff/checkstuff.aspx with the spanish resources. • Drupal Imagecache Actions with ImageField and Node variables

  I am able to add text to onto a imagefield using the imagecache textrender preset action (for a content type). I pull the node title using the following in the imagecache preset text: global $node; return $node->title; However this only works when an image is uploaded when creating new content. If I have an image set as a default for the content type (and none are added when creating the new page) then it won't overlay the node title. I tried just regular text in the preset action field on the default image and it worked. Can anyone help me with this?

  I have a site built in Ruby On Rails which has many ads in different templates and views. It is hard to actualy remove each ad between tests and deployments. I don't know whether Google approves many impressions (even if without clicks) on localhost. How do you deal with this issue? Maybe it is a good solution to set a variable/constant available everywere to enable/disable ads easily. Do you think it is a good solution? If so, how do I declare a global variable for views?

  This is really annoying...and I know it is something extremely simple... 1. I create a new Dynamic Data project. 2. I add a LINQ-to-SQL class and drag and drop some tables onto the class. 3. I open the global.asax.vb and uncomment the line: DefaultModel.RegisterContext(GetType(YourDataContext), New ContextConfiguration() With {.ScaffoldAllTables = True}) I remove YourDataContext and replace it with the DataContext from my LINQ-to-SQL class: DefaultModel.RegisterContext(GetType(NorthwindDataContext), New ContextConfiguration() With {.ScaffoldAllTables = True}) I then try to debug/build/etc. and receive the following error: Type 'NorthwindDataContext' is not defined Why is it not defined? It seems like its not recognizing I created the DBML file.

I already have the code working that handles a global Windows hotkey and then checks to see if the foreground IntPtr is from a browser.   There are tons of different dojo right click context menus in a page slowing down the browser. Some divs have context menus while some others don't. So I just can't have a dynamic global context menu and still be able to fallback to the browser's built in menu in some cases, do I? The non lazy instantiation of the dojo context menus just take too much time. How can I make those context menus dynamic? Preferably being created on demand when the user actually right clicks on them.

Then, in the validation process, after validates all the fields, i use a global validator to compare the data of the two fields. This works, but i don't want to have the email stored two times in the database (i don't want the *repeat_email*). • best way to access/create SITE_ROOT and SERVER_ROOT values in PHP?

  I need 2 different paths, one for includes and one for js/css etc. I'm using mod_rewrite. The below works fine.... Currently all my files contain this at the top define('SERVER_ROOT', 'C:/wamp/www/site_folder/'); define('SITE_ROOT', 'http://localhost/site_folder/'); and then files are called like so: require_once SERVER_ROOT . 'st_wd_assets/inc/func_st_wd.php'; <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="<?php echo SITE_ROOT;?>st_pages/user_area/css/user_area.css" media="screen"/> as you can probably see, it's going to be a massive chore to update the top of every file everytime i move versions between the localhost and my live server. What's the best/standard way of defining these ROOT values? I can't see a solution in the $_SERVER super global? Do people normally just use VirtualHosts? But then wouldn't it still be necessary to define ROOT constants?

  Hi, i am new to servlets. I made a simple hello world programme that prints those famous 2 words to the screen when i access the page via a browser using http://localhost:8080/mypath/path... My question is now, how do i provide a servlet with information? Specifically considering the fact that my c# programme calculates a lookup value for a global system, then the "java" servlet processes that and returns a set of results. I have done the reverse thanks to help on here, regarding calling a returned string from the java servlet in c#. However i am not sure how i go about providing the servlet information. Do i pass it via the url? Thank you

• How to change word recognition in vim spell?

  I like that vim 7.0 supports spell checking via :set spell, and I like that it by default only checks comments and text strings in my C code. But I wanted to find a way to change the behavior so that vim will know that when I write words containing underscores, I don't want that word spell checked. The problem is that I often will refer to variable or function names in my comments, and so right now vim thinks that each piece of text that isn't a complete correct word is a spelling error. Eg. /* The variable proj_abc_ptr is used in function do_func_stuff' */ Most of the time, the pieces seperated by underscores are complete words, but other times they are abbreviations that I would prefer not to add to a word list. Is there any global way to tell vim to include _'s as part of the word when spell checking?
