• mysql select column from view problem

  i create a view table like : CREATE VIEW ViewManager AS SELECT us.UserId AS 'Account Manager', ......... after that, when i run a query to select data from this view like : SELECT 'Account Manager' , .. from ViewManager then the data i get in this column is the text 'Account Manager' and not the value of the this columns. Is there a way to solve this ? Of course I can change the field name , but i want to know if there is another solution, thanks.

  So this isn't really a normal conditional select statement. I'm helping a colleague out with some SQL and we have this issue. I current there is a coulumn ID and a column Number. Either ID is 0 or Number is 0. So my select statement needs to do Select colA, colB, colC, crazy part From Table A. the crazy part is this: (If ID > 0, ID, Number) basically select and return that column that isn't 0. Is there any way to do this in T-SQL?

  What I've got working and it's what I need to improve on: INSERT form_data (id,data_id, email) SELECT fk_form_joiner_id AS data_id, value AS email FROM wp_contactform_submit_data WHERE form_key='your-email' This just gets the emails, now this is great, but not enough as I have a good few different values of form_key that I need to import into different columns, I'm aware that I can do it via php using foreach loops and updates, but this needs to be done purely in mysql. So how do I do something like: insert form_data(id,data,email,name,surname,etc) Select [..],Select [..].... Please help

  I have two models Category and Point. The associations are defined as: Category hasMany Point Point belongsTo Category I would like, when adding Points to my database, to be able to select the category it belongs to from a <select> box, along with the rest of the form data. Where would i need to set the category list and how could i do it? And how would i produce the select box? I assume it could be done with $form->input('categorieslist',array('type'=>'select')); //categorieslist needs //setting somewhere.   I have a mysql database with movies as follows: MOVIES(id,title) KEYWORDS_TABLE(id,key_id) [id is referenced to movies.id, key_id is refernced to keywords.id] KEYWORDS(id,keyword) //this doesn't matter on my example.. Basically i have movies with their titles and plot keywords for each one, i want to select all movies that have the same keywords with with a given movie id. I tried something like: SELECT key_id FROM keywords_table WHERE id=9 doing that in php and storing all the IDs in an array $key_id.. then i build another select that looks like: SELECT movies.title FROM movies,keywords_table WHERE keywords_table.key_id=$key_id[1] OR keywords_table.key_id=$key_id[2] OR ......... OR keywords_table.key_id=$key_id[n] This kinda works but it takes too much time as we talk about a database with thousands of thousands of records. So, any suggestions?? thanks!

  The code below allows me to change a preview image outside the carousel widget so that it matches the element under the mouse. For example, if the user mouses over image2's thumbnail, the script updates .selectedImage so that it displays image2's full size version. I'd like to enhance it so that the #myThumbs options listing updates its "selected" option to match the carousel image that receives a click. Mouseover changes the preview image and click changes the select list to match the same name. • MSSQL: Views that use SELECT * need to be recreated if the underlying table changes

  Is there a way to make views that use SELECT * stay in sync with the underlying table. What I have discovered is that if changes are made to the underlying table, from which all columns are to be selected, the view needs to be 'recreated'. This can be achieved simly by running an ALTER VIEW statement. However this can lead to some pretty dangerous situations. If you forgot to recreate the view, it will not be returning the correct data. In fact it can be returning seriously messed up data - with the names of the columns all wrong and out of order. Nothing will pick up that the view is wrong unless you happened to have it covered by a test, or a data integrity check fails. For example, Red Gate SQL Compare doesn't pick up the fact that the view needs to be recreated. To replicate the problem, try these statements: CREATE TABLE Foobar (Bar varchar(20)) CREATE VIEW v_Foobar AS SELECT * FROM Foobar INSERT INTO Foobar (Bar) VALUES ('Hi there') SELECT * FROM v_Foobar ALTER TABLE Foobar ADD Baz varchar(20) SELECT * FROM v_Foobar DROP VIEW v_Foobar DROP TABLE Foobar I am tempted to stop using SELECT * in views, which will be a PITA. Is there a setting somewhere perhaps that could fix this behaviour?

SELECT TOP(5) BOTTOM(5) Of course 'bottom' does not exist so i need other solution. I believe there is an easy and elegant solution that i'm not getting.   HI Folks, I have a threaded C++ program where up to three threads are calling select on a three separate socket descriptors waiting for data to become available. Each thread handles one socket and adds it to the readfds with a timeout of 300 seconds. After select returns if there is data available I'm calling recv to read it. Is there anything that I need to be aware of with winsock and threads because for some reason after a number of hours the select calls all seem to be not timing out. Can a multi threaded program select from a number of threads without issue? I know that I should have one thread listening to all three sockets however that would be a large change for this app and I'm only looking to apply a bug fix. cheers, Martin.

  Hi all I am trying to do a very simple dynamic query which will select a column dynamically I mean the selection of column would depend upon another query so I would select x col if cond1 and y if cond2 so I tried using query.Select(colname) using the extension method also tried using Func< but I am not sure how to go about this I have read about dynamic extension for linq and also reflection but woth reflection to the GetValue function does not return value for my column in database. please help me out I am jus trying to select a column dynamically at runtime and no condtions really on it.
