  • Is there an open source Wordpress plug-in to implement Facebook/Twitter/OpenID/... authentication?

    Hi, I'm looking for a way to implement Facebook/Twitter/OpenID/... authentication on my WordPress blog. I have found plugins for Twitter, plugins for Facebook, plugins for OpenID.. but I'm afraid integration of all thos plugins will be tough. Also, I have found RPX that is doing the job perfectly, but I would prefer an open source soultion rather than relying on RPX web service. Would you have any clue? Nicolas

    I learned programming on the job via high-level languages. I'm trying to gain a better understanding of the lower-level workings of computing and picked up "Design of the UNIX Operating System" by Maurice Bach. What do I need to know in terms of which topics in this book may not be relevant to understanding Linux nuts and bolts? Is there a newer book or Linux-specific book that I should read instead? I really like the clarity of this particular book, though.

Now I have one implementation for a sample model ready but to make the code library generic I want to write an application where I can templatize the code and provide placeholders for data model specific points. They said they'd train me, but I want to take some initiative to learn about it on my own to be ahead. Where's the best place to start (tutorials, books, etc)?   • How to save preferences to somewhere other than SharedPreferences

    My application is used on multiple platforms so it saves it preferences to a file (rather than to the standard Android SharedPreferences). Is there any easy of reusing the PreferenceActivity to save preferences to a file or is it a case of creating a whole new activity to do the job? If the latter is the case is there a layout I can use that will make the activity look like the normal preferences screen? PreferenceActivity uses com.android.internal.R.layout.preference_list_content but this doesn't appear to be available to apps for reuse.

    Let's say there's a table created as follows: create table testTable ( colA int not null ) How would you drop the not null constraint? I'm looking for something along the lines of ALTER TABLE testTable ALTER COLUMN colA DROP NOT NULL; which is what it would look like if I used PostgreSQL. To my amazement, as far as I've been able to find, the MySQL docs, Google and yes, even Stackoverflow (in spite of dozens or hundreds of NULL-related questions) don't seem to lead towards a single simple SQL statement which will do the job.

  • Best practice stock management when payment of customer failed using SQL Server and ASP.NET

    Hi there, I am currently building a webshop for my own where I want to increment the product-stock when the user fails to complete payment within 10 minutes after the customer placed the order. I want to gather information from this thread to make a design decision. I am using SQL Server 2008 and ASP.NET 3.5.     Hi i am writing a HTML parser for helping with some job duties, I can enter the site using IE explorer. but using csharp code i get an error i have tried using client.Credentials = CredentialCache.DefaultNetworkCredentials; client.Proxy.Credentials = CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials; i don't get the requested page, but an error page. if i can view page in explorer there must be a way to retrieve its html in C# (note that same page in other browsers requires authintication - not in IE) appreciate the help

    Can anyone tell me if/how you can validate the changes in a data context in Linq2Sql before calling SubmitChanges(). The situation I have is that I create a context, perform multiple operations and add many inserts alongside other processing tasks and then rollback if the submit fails. What I'd prefer to do is make some kind of "Validate()" call after certain tasks are done so that I can handle it before submitting the entire job.

  • GNU make: should -j equal number the number of CPU cores in a system?

    Hi What is you experience with the make -j flag? There seem to be some controversial if the jobs are supposed to be equal to the numbers of cores, or if you can maximize the build by adding one extra job that can be cued up while the others "work". The question is if it is better to use -j4 or -j5? And have you seen (or done) any benchmarking that support one or the other? Thanks Johan

    Hi all! I have next task: I need to load the same file into my web app several times, for example - twice a day! Suppose in that file I have information, that changes, and I need to load this info into my app to change the statistics for example. How can I load file several times (twice an hour, or twice a day)? What should I use? Is any algorithm to do that? I am not allowed to use external libraries like Quartz Scheduler. So I need to do it with Thread and/or Timer. Can anybody give me some example or algorithm how to do it. Where can I create the entry point to my Thread, can I do it in managed bean or I need some sort of filter/listener/servlet. I works with jsf and richFaces. When the work is done (or if I kill the job midway), I want the script to change back to the old working directory and wipe out the temporary one.   • Cooperative/Non-preemptive threading avoiding threadlooks?

    Any creative ideas to avoid deadlocks on a yield or sleep with cooperative/non-preemptive multitasking without doing an O/S Thread.Sleep(10)? Typically the yield or sleep call will call back into the scheduler to run other tasks. But this can sometime produce deadlocks. Some background: This application has enormous need for speed and, so far, it's extremely fast as compared to other systems in the same industry. One of the speed techniques is cooperative/non-preemptive threading rather then the cost of a context switch from O/S threads. The high level design a priority manager which calls out to tasks depending on priority and processing time. Each task does one "iteration" of work and returns to wait its turn again in the priority queue. The tricky thing with non-preemptive threading is what to do when you want to a particular task to stop in the middle of work and wait for some other event from a different task before continuing. In this case, we have 3 tasks, A B and C where A is a controller that must synchronize the activity of B and C. First, A starts both B and C. Then B yields so C gets invoked. When C yields, A sees they are both inactive, decides it's time for B to run but not time for C yet. Well B is now stuck in a yield that has called C, so it can never run. Sincerely, Wayne
