• Best way to split LAN computers on two WANs (not load balancing)

  What is the best way to split the computers of a LAN (about 50 computers) to go on two WANs, depending on the computers' IP address or computers' configuration (gateway). I'm not looking for load-balancing, I need to be able to route which computer uses which Internet connection. A solution would be to rewire the old office to split the two distinct groups that need to use two different Internet connections but I'm not sure it's worth it at the moment. I have a pfSense router configured with the LAN (DHCP), WAN1 and WAN2. I also have the IP addresses (and ability to configure) the next router on WAN1 and the one on WAN2. What would you suggest? Routing based on IP addresses ranges? Different gateways? VLANs would be difficult for the same reason as to why rewire is a bit complicated. Thanks!

• Emails not being delivered

  Comment pointed out that this may fix my problem, and it did: Why don't mails show up in the recipient's mailspool? I use Postfix with Dovecot, and when I send an email from my gmail to my server, it is received at the server, but not at my email client using POP3. I can verify it being received at the server using the mail command. • Dell Latitude E6400 power button and wireless not working or only working intermittently

  The power button on the laptop stopped working randomly as of a day or two ago. I can only power the laptop on if its attached to a docking station, on which I can use the power button to turn on/off the laptop. Today the wireless card stopped working (the wifi light does not turn on, even after I turn on the wireless switch). What is the problem and how can I fix it? The laptop is about 1 year old. I have not dropped it, but do carry it around a good amount, including docking it/undocking it frequently.

  I'm setting up DB auto failover in C# with SQL Server 2008 and I have a 'high safety with automatic failover mirror' using a witness setup and my connection string looks like "Server=tcp:DC01; Failover Partner=tcp:DC02; database=dbname; uid=sewebsite;pwd=somerndpwd;Connect Timeout=10;Pooling=True;" During testing, when I turn off the SQL Server service on the principal server the auto failover works like a charm, but if I take the principal server offline (by shutting down the server or killing the network card) auto failover does not work and my website just times out. I found this article where the second last post suggests that its because we are using named pipes which does not work when the principal goes offline, but we force TCP in our connection string. What am I missing to get this DB auto failover working?

• Speakers will not work after I use USB Headset

  I am trying to configure my SteelSeries Siberia V2 Frost USB Headset to work with my 2.0 speakers using a jack. My goal is to find a easy way (no restart) to switch playback from my headset and my speakers and vice-versa. If i plug my headset in and make it the default device then restart my application/web page then the sounds works out of headset. If I switch the default to my speakers and restart apps/web pages then sound does not play. I know my speakers are on because if I configure them through windows and test, the sounds play, and sounds also play when I test it through my audio manager. Even if I unplug my headset, I still cannot get sound out of my speakers unless I restart My audio manager is RealTek HD Audio Manager, Windows 7 x64. I have tried the speaker back, usb front. speaker front, usb in front port. I have not tried speaker back, usb back.

  I just installed red hat enterprise 5 in my laptop and on desktop both. In desktop it is working fine but in laptop it is not showing the eth device. (I tried ifconfig only lo is there). I tried ifup eth0 still nothing happened. The network service in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 and in /etc/sysconfig/network are enable. I had ubuntu in my laptop before and I faced same problem with that too. Is there any problem with my laptop? I have my system on dual boot and in win7 networking is running fine.   I'm a developer who has to set up a Dell Powervault MD3000 due to lack of resources. I have connected the Powervault to 2 Dell 2950 servers via the SAS cables. I performed the setup using Dell's MD Storage Manager software (4 disks, RAID 5 with hot spare). Then I added the disks using Windows 2003 disk management (Basic, not dynamic disk and formatted with NTFS). When I add files to the array from one server, they are not visible on the other server (and vice-versa). Is the error in the windows disk management configuration?

• Belkin Wireless G router not working on Windows 7

  I have a Belkin F5D7230-4 Wireless G router which used to work on XP. I have a clean Windows 7 install (on the same desktop PC), and it just won't work. Device Manager lists the adapter as a USB device, but it says "The drivers for this device are not installed", even though the driver installer said the installation was OK. Manage Wiresless Networks says "wireless is not currently enabled". The WLAN AutoConfig service is running. My specific question is which of the two symptoms above should I go for first? Should I try to fix the driver installation somehow, or should I try to enable wireless? Is one caused by the other, or is this two independent problems? Any other thoughs that could help me are also appreciated.

• Wine not finding some files

  I'm having strange issues with Wine : If I look a C:\windows\system32\drivers\ in wine explorer, the directory looks empty, while the directory ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/drivers is not. Plus, having the H: drive mapped to my home directory, I can look at H:\.wine\drive_c\windows\system32\drivers and it is not empty, the files are here ! Thus it seems Wine has the rights to access these files. So why don't they appear on the C: drive ? Some of my programs need them. • Server 2008 R2 Datacenter (and all other version) not detecting hardware

  I upgraded my ASUS KFN32-D SLI/SAS motherboard to the latest BIOS version and swapped out the 2 dual-core procs with 2 quad core procs. After installing Server 2008 Datacenter onto the system I noticed that it was not connected to the network. I open device manager and see no network adapters. I have to go up to View - Show hidden devices to even see the virtual WAN Miniport adapters. This problem happens in Vista and Windows 7 (all x64). What is even stranger is it all works in x86 mode. What in x64 could be causing windows to not even detect hardware that works in x86? Is the boot manager possibly the culprit?

I tried the following: BIOS update (Asus M2V motherboard) but the situation worsened as the system didn't wake up from the sleep (with both my HD's) Reinstalling the drivers Bios changes Microsoft Hotfix KB977178 that seemed to address exactly my problem but gave me "The update is not applicable to your computer" message. Disabling hybrid sleep but no results.

• mailman not relaying email to external address

  I have a setup of mailman with postfix on an ubuntu server 12.04. My problem is that mailing list emails are not forwarded to email addresses external to my institution. However the initial welcome email is received by everyone, internally and externally. in fact, a simple email from command line with mail is successfully sent to anyone after that, mailing list emails are only forwarded to internal addresses. the domain name I'm using for the server is not that of my institution who is hosting the server.   I've recently setup a new backup server and have configured sendmail with a smart_relay_host Except every email from the command line doesn't go anywhere.   I been having some very frustrating issues with getting .htaccess to work on my new server. I'm not very experienced in managing a server, but I've spent the last three days pouring over documentation and every resource I can get my hands on. I've attempted to try a very basic application of .htaccess, and yet it fails to give the expected results. I've setup a test over at http://173.201.185.217/test/. Immediately within this directory is an .htaccess file with the following command: deny from all If I'm not mistaken, this should deny access to /test, but it doesn't. It just sits there allowing anybody to view the contents. What could be wrong with my server/configuration? The server is running CentOS.

This brings up the Shortcut Mapper I set up my custom shortcuts on Computer 1 I then installed Notepad++ with the same install settings and plugins on Computer 2 I then created a zip archive of my Notepad++ folder in Program Files on Computer 1 I overwrote the Notepad++ folder in Program Files on Computer 2 with this archive My custom shortcuts did not come across. I thought that the shortcuts were saved in C:\Program Files\Notepad++\shortcuts.xml I compared C:\Program Files\Notepad++\shortcuts.xml from Computer 1 with the same file on Computer 2 and the two files are identical. Why then are the shortcuts not coming across to Computer 2? Computer 1 is Windows XP Computer 2 is Windows Server 2008 R2

  I have a problem with Disk Utility on Mac OS X 10.6. I have an image of Windows that I would like to use as a bootable volume on a pen drive or external hard drive. The thing is: When I try to restore the volume from the image I get an error: "Restore Failure: Could not validate resource - Invalid Argument" I read some information about that error on the Internet. I converted the image into .iso (Mac OS Extended/ISO (Joliet) Hybrid Image) format and then got this error: "Restore Failure: Could not find any scan information. The source image needs to be imagescanned before it can be restored." When I try to scan the image for Restore, I get the first message. I really read a lot of information about this topic on the Internet, but I haven't found the solution. I tried both ISO and DMG formats; I don't know which is best.

• Apache htaccess with mod_expires Not Working for certain directories

  I have a Joomla site that I am trying to enable caching using mod_expires. I have the .htaccess in the root of the site and have added the options as found on the page http://www.pactsoftware.nl/tools/joomla-optimization.html Using the PageSpeed extension in Chrome, prior to adding this in my .htaccess, my site scores a 55 (Caching is at the top, and lists a lot of images, CSS, and JS files). After these directives, it scores 70, with caching in the yellow, but still lists some image files (some are two directories deep and the rest are four). I checked for any other .htaccess files in the Joomla root, but none are between those folders and the root. It is almost as if htaccess only works in that one directory, not the subfolders. I have tried putting a .htaccess in each affected subdirectory, but it does not work. Does anyone have any ideas?

• Wirelss card not being detected in backtrack 5

  I just installed backtrack 5 and I am unable to detect my wireless card. iwconfig doesn't list my interface. I can see that the hardware is present in lspci -vnn (see below) but I can't get the interface detected. I have tried to reinstall the compat-wireless package but I get errors during the build (see below) I have done a ton of researching and I keep hitting a brick wall, mostly because the wiki for backtrack is down and I can't find any good resources. Does anyone know how to fix the issue? Also, does anyone no how I can scan the hardware to determine what NIC is assigning my interface? If I can figure out the interface name I think I can set it up manually by putting up the link and using wireless-tools to manually configure the connection, this is what I had to do in arch on my mac. As stated the wiki for backtrack is down and I can't find any help on the issue. I tried to do the full kernel upgrade suggested in my software update but after the update was complete and I logged back in I had a new log in manager and the only thing I was able to log into was window managers. However, after this update my wireless was working fine. Please help I am new to Linux and the wiki is down, I have nowhere else to turn. Forgot to mention I am using the KDE version, not Gnome.   I'm running CentOS 5.8 and I had to change my server's IP address. Afterwards, I'm unable start Apache. I am also running virtualmin. The error I'm receiving is: Failed to start service Starting httpd: httpd: Could not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using 184.106.146.125 for ServerName (99) Cannot assign requested address: make_sock: could not bind to address 50.56.33.100:8080 no listening sockets available, shutting down Unable to open logs I edited my httpd.conf to point to the new IP address like such: #Listen 12.34.56.78:80 Listen 184.106.146.125:80 And looking at the error it still seems to be referring to the old ip address (50.*).
