  I have 2 computers: one is on Vista and the other one is on Windows 7. I made a shared folder on my vista computer and tried adding it from my windows 7 computer. I keep getting the following message when trying to click on my Vista computer from my Windows 7: Windows cannot access \\COMPUTER-NAME You do not have permission to access \\COMPUTER-NAME. Contact your network administrator to request access. How do you access a Vista shared drive from Windows 7 ?

For each new instance, I install the following softwares: etckeeper which keeps tracks of every changes in /etc shorewall to have a simple setup for firewall rsnapshot which keep incremental backup of important directories cron-apt takes charge of update of the system (or, in my case, send me an email to warn me about new updates) But I was wondering if you administrators have any other wonderful tools for daily management. • What's the best way to migrate SELECT applications and data from an old Mac to a one?

  I know I can make an easy transfer of everything using time machine, but I'm trying to transfer the minimum necessary to the new computer (applications I currently use, Aperture database, etc.) in order to keep the new machine as clean as possible, and avoid starting out with any legacy problems with permissions, etc. Clearly, I can copy individual apps and databases to an external drive and then install them on the new machine, but I'm trying to find an easier way.

I've gone into the properties of the taskbar and un-checked the box for "Keep the taskbard on top of other windows" but it makes no difference. checked or un-checked, it's always on top of other windows. Any ideas?

  I have 3 x Corsair 2GB DDR3 1600MHz, and I want to expand it with 3 more DIMMs. Obviously to keep my triple-channel, I'd be best to buy an identical 3 DIMMs kit as I have now, because triple-channel doesn't work with not-identical memory DIMMs, but to what level of difference? Can I have identical spec DIMMs (Corsair DDR3 1600MHz) but just 4GB beside my 2GB ones, and the triple-channel will still be active?

I want to have a diagram with the following table: Apple 30 40 50 Pears 200 300 400 Bananas 10 20 30 The weird thing is, when I try to draw a bar diagram the order of the bars changes.   I'm trying to understand why when launching a new instance Amazon defaults to EBS (8gb root) instead of instance storage. Why do they sell instance storage then if it's not used also to boot the base system? Is it safe to uncheck delete on termination, make it bigger (~50GiB) and keep all files on that EBS instead of creating a new one to make sure data will persist and it will also be usable by another instance?

I was wondering if there was a way to have apache log to a file access.log.YYYYMMDD and error.log.YYYYMMDD instead? Where YYYYMMDD would be the timestamp when the file was created.

I've successfully used ProxyPass and ProxyPassReverse to point http://jira.mydomain.com to http://mydomain.com:8080 However, after login, the URL in the browser is changed to http://mydomain.com:8080/Dashboard....
