• How to create a "Shell IDList Array" to support drag-and-drop of virtual files from C# to Windows Ex

  I started trying to implement drag-and-drop of virtual files (from a C# 4/WPF app) with this codeplex tutorial. After spending some time trying to figure out a DV_E_FORMATETC error, I figured out I need to support the "Shell IDList Array" data format. But there seems to be next to zero documentation on what this format actually does. After some searching, I found this page on advanced data transfer which said that a Shell IDList Array was a pointer to a CIDA structure. This CIDA structure then contains the number of PIDLs, and a list of offsets to them. So what the hell is a PIDL? After some more searching, this page sort of implies it's a pointer to an ITEMIDLIST, which itself contains a single member that is a list of SHITEMIDs. My next idea was to try dragging a file from another application with virtual files. I just got a MemoryStream back for this format. At least I know what class to provide for the thing, but that doesn't help at all for explaining what to put in it. So now that that's explained, I still have no idea how to create one of these things so that it's valid. There's two real questions here: What is a valid "abID" member for a SHITEMID? These virtual files only exist with my program; will the thing they are dragged to pass the "abID" back later when it executes GetData? Do they have to be system-unique? Why are there two levels of lists; a list of PIDLs and each PIDL has a list of SHITEMIDs? I'm assuming one of them is one for each file, but what's the other one for? Multiple IDs for the same file? Any help or even links that explain what I should be doing would be greatly appreciated.

• Permission Denied IE iFrame

  Hi Guys, I have a site on A.com and an iframe on B.com which calls javascript from A.com. This works great in FF. In IE7 / 8 I am getting a Message: Access is denied. message. I have checked the HTTP Traffic via Fiddler - and I can see that it isn't blocked in Fiddler ? Any ideas what could be causing this and how to solve ?

• Font-face, Raphael and IE8

  I am desesperatly trying to get some google font faces to work with Raphael (SVG / VML rendering JavaScript library) on IE8. At first i tried the google fonts code. My second try has been to download and convert the fonts to host my own more complete css. Now the fonts show in the html part of the page (inside a modified bootstrap nav dropdown), but it does not work in the VML canvas (generated by Raphael). • IE6 and IE7 Input padding CSS

  I have input boxes with a height of 25 pixels. In Firefox, Safari and IE8 automatically vertically align the text of it in the middle correctly. However in IE6 and IE7 the text is aligned to the top. How may I resolve this? Adding padding-top increased the total height of the input as I have explicitly declared its height. I don't wish to use browser specific CSS. Thanks.

  I've integrated facebook login with my application and I want to logout the user from facebook when he logs out of my application. In IE8 the user is logged out of the application but is not logged out of Facebook. Anyone else experiencing this?

  I'm having troubles with fckeditor in Firefox. When the user goes to a page, the html (encoded) is stored in a hidden input element. I call the predefined fckeditor javascript event to populate my editor with the html from the hidden ContentBody element. function FCKeditor_OnComplete( editorInstance ) { editorInstance.InsertHtml(""); var sample = document.getElementById("ContentBody").value; editorInstance.InsertHtml(sample); } This automatically populates the editor with the desired text in IE, but in Firefox it doesn't. • IE to show Full URL path in the Title bar as in Status Bar

  Windows XP and IE8. Tabbed Browsing is OFF. So every single web page has its own title. I want to see in the title the same as I see in the Status bar i.e. I want the full URL of the web page I am viewing to be displayed in the Title bar, and so in the Task bar button too. Should I expect the Temporary Internet Files folder to be empty after clearing the cache? • nivo slider and drop down menu doesnt work in IE

• Firefox why window.opener is defined even for a new tab

  Hi! I am porting quite old corp application from IE to Firefox. Here is my situation. User goes away from computer for a while and his session becomes expired. When user tries to access something in popup, he is being redirected to login page (in popup window). In login page onload event popup window chain is being closed and root page refreshed (in root page tab user is redirected to login page). The guy before me wrote this like this: if window.top.opener is undefined, we're not in popup. That's why I am getting non-stoppable refresh in Firefox. Why in Firefox window.opener is still defined and points to same window, even if this is a new tab, not popup? How should I correctly determine that current window is popup?

  I have a some javascript (used with google maps api) that I am testing on IE and Chrome and noticed memory leak symptoms in IE only: when I refresh the page continuously, the amount of memory used in IE keeps growing (fast), but in Chrome it stays constant. Without posting all of the code (as it is rather long), can I get some suggestions as to what to look out for? What could cause the memory to keep growing like this in IE on page refreshes? Like I said I know its hard without code, but I'd like to see if any generic advice works first. Thanks.

• Returning HTML in the JS portion of a respond_to block throws errors in IE

  Here's a common pattern in my controller actions: respond_to do |format| format.html {} format.js { render :layout => false } end I.e., if the request is non-AJAX, I'll send the HTML content in a layout on a brand new page. If the request is AJAX, I'll send down the same content, but without a layout (so that it can be inserted into the existing page or put into a lightbox or whatever). So I'm always returning HTML in the format.js portion, yet Rails sets the Content-Type response header to text/javascript. This causes IE to throw this fun little error message: Of course I could set the content-type of the response every time I did this (or use an after_filter or whatever), but it seems like I'm trying to do something relatively standard and I don't want to add additional boilerplate code. How do I fix this problem? Alternatively, if the only way to fix the problem is to change the content-type of the response, what's the best way to achieve the behavior I want (i.e., sending down content with layout for non-AJAX and the same content without a layout for AJAX) without having to deal with these errors? • PHP header redirection does not reload <iframe> in IE

  When displaying data from DB usually I'm in this situation I'm in page A.php that shows data from DB, user performs some action (like edit/delete etc) and page B.php is loaded to perform the action, once page B performed the action, it redirects browser to page A, page A is auto reloaded during step (3) therefor it shows an updated situation of the data In order to make page B to redirect to page A i use a simple PHP header("Location: " . "A.php", TRUE, 302); This works well in all situations, except when pages A.php is displaied into an <iframe>: in such a case it does not reload (step 4 does not get done). This seems to happen only in IE7 (don't know about IE8), it works perfectly on FF/Safari. And only when using an <iframe>, if page A.php is not in <iframe> it gest refreshed also in IE7. In order to solve this I simply added a couple of headers in page A.php to set it to not be cached: header("Cache-Control: no-cache, must-revalidate"); // HTTP/1.1 header("Expires: Sat, 26 Jul 1997 05:00:00 GMT"); // Date in the past But I was curious if you might have experienced the same issue too in the past, and if you good give me some advice about this?
