  • getResourceAsStream returns HttpInputStream not of the entire file

    Hi, I am having a web application with an applet which will copy a file packed witht the applet to the client machine. When I deploy it to webserver and use: InputStream in = getClass().getResourceAsStream("filename") ; The in.available() always return a size of 8192 bytes for every file I tried, which means the file is corrupted when it is copied to the client computer. The InputStream is of type HttpInputStream (sun.net.protocol.http.HttpUrlConnection$httpInputStream). But while I test applet in applet viewer, the files are copied fine, with the InputStream returned is of type BufferedInputStream, which has the file's byte sizes. I guess that when getResourceStream in file system the BufferedInputStream will be used and when at http protocol, HttpInputStream will be used. How will I copy the file completely, is there a size limited for HttpInputStream? Thanks a lot.

    This is a resonant post to one of my other query due to an error with Java applet embedded into CMS pages. well, I tell issue:- Problem:- I have a website using Concrete 5 CMS, in which I have a page that I have embedded a Java applet class. This applet should show the system information which this applet is working fine in simple single HTML pages. now whenever I access my plugin Test page which created in Concrete 5 CMS (this page I embedded this java applet), it shows a Java error. The error is says incompatible Magic Number. Observation:- After a lot of searching through various tech forums, I finally found that, the issue is happened because the browser cannot load Java class file. The class file path location is wrong.   • Bluetooth Dial-Up Networking using Blueman

    I want to configure a dial up network connection via bluetooth to my phone in order to access the internet. I use Lubuntu 12.04 (Ubuntu with LXDE) which has the Network Manager Applet and Blueman applet installed. I guess these are the same tools than on an Ubuntu installation, hence I ask my question on this site. My phone is a Sony Ericsson W810i, my laptop is a Lenovo S10-2, my mobile phone provider is o2 Germany. I scanned for my mobile phone using the Blueman applet. I connected the dial-up network via the context menu - Serial Ports - Dial-up Networking. A notification bubble says that the connection is available on the interface named ppp0. ipconfig is telling something different: There is no ppp0 or something similar. I only see my eth0 (wired ethernet), eth1 (wifi) and lo interfaces. Of course, I can't ping google.com as the interface really seems to be not present at all. When the dial-up network is being connected, my mobile phone says that it connects to the internet. Afterwards, I see the active connection on the phone's screen. When successfully connecting with the phone using another computer, it behaves exactly the same, so I guess that the phone isn't the problem. I don't know if I configured the Dial-Up correctly. I use the phone number *99# which is very common on most mobile ISPs. I use the APN which my ISP is telling me to use. (I can't find the number on their support page, so I just use the default value *99#.) My mobile ISP is o2 Germany. There are How-Tos out there which use the Network Manager Applet to setup a bluetooth dial-up connection, but I can't see any bluetooth devices in the context menu as on the screenshots in those How-Tos. Do you have any suggestions what might be wrong / what I should try? EDIT: When choosing "Network Access Point" in the device's context menu instead of Serial Ports - Dial-Up Networking, an interface bnep0 appears. However, neither an IPv4 address is assigned for that interface (but IPv6), nor the phone connects to the internet. Am I missing something? Can I connect to the internet after setting up this network connection?

    hi i have internet working but the network manager applet in the ubuntu 10.10 says that it is disabled and i am not able to enable it however i have previously forced the ip address which i am still getting in ifconfig but in wired section of network connections there is no such interface as eth0 where can i see these settings and how can i enable the etwork manager applet in the title bar thanks in advance

    i've recently gave up on the main ubuntu, especially since new updates ruined Quantal and Raring is just a mess and went on to install a more friendly version: Ubuntu Lite. while i am quite happy with most functionalities of this lite version of 12.04, one of the modifications volume control is totally ridiculos, there is an applet that is completely counter-intutitive. So my question is: is there a way to install back the ubuntu classic volume control so i can let go of this applet alltogether? thanx

    I have recentely installed Ubuntu 12.04 and as I am a truly Gnome 2 lover I also switched from Unity to Mate. The font color of the Weather/Date applet is barely visible so I was wondering how I can change it. I Already tried to explore all the options shown in the menu when I right-click on the applet, but apparently there's no such feature. So is there anything I could do in order to customize the font color in order to make the text more readable?

  • How to set up TightVNC Java viewer index.html on web server?

    I've got the Java TightVNC viewer applet set up with the provided index.html on my Mac OS X 10.6.3 with web sharing enabled. Using a remote computer I was able to get to the webpage but I only see a white box with an X (for error?) that represents where the viewer is supposed to be. Any ideas on how to get this to work? I've tried to set the port (in index.html) to 5900 and 5901, none worked. Are any of these the default VNC port for Mac OS X 10.6.3? Also, I've activated Screen Sharing and Remote Login in System Preferences, allowing VNC viewers to connect.   • Cannot log in to the desktop on ubuntu 11.10?

    The problem is, I could log in under the terminal, i could ifup eth0, i could do anything I want in the terminal, but if I use ctrl+alt+f7 goto the gnome login screen, after I input the correct password, the system just send me back to same login screen again. I have created a new user, but it didn't work. I have change all the files under ~/ to jichao:jichao(which is my username) with chown -hR jichao:jichao /home/jichao, but it didn't work too. I searched the internet, somebody said I should see the logs under /var/log/gdm, but there is not a /var/log/gdm directory in my box.     A few days ago, we released JRE and JDK 7 update 10. This release adds support for the following new platforms: Windows 8 on x86-64. Note that Modern UI (aka Metro) mode is not supported. Internet Explorer 10 on Windows 8. Mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) This release also introduces new features that provide enhanced security for Java applet and webstart applications, specifically: The Java runtime tracks if it is updated to the latest security baseline. If you try to execute an unsigned applet with an outdated version of Java, a warning dialog will prompt you to update before running the applet. The Java runtime includes a hardcoded best before date. It is assumed that a new version will be released before this date. If the client has not been able to check for an update prior to this date, the Java runtime will assume that it is insecure and start warning the user prior to executing any applets. The Java control panel now includes an option to set the desired security level on a low-medium-high-very high scale, as well as an option to disable Java applets and webstart entirely. This level controls things such as if the Java runtime is allowed to execute unsigned code, and if so what type of warning will be displayed to the user.   • How do I restore the Gnome Panel volume control in Ubuntu 10.04?

    I use alsa, and I don't have a volume control applet on my Gnome Panel. When I right click and select "add to panel", there is nothing that has to do with "sound", "audio" or "volume" in the list, and the "Indicator Applet" or "Indicator Applet Session" things have no volume controls, or properties that would let you enable any sort of volume control. How can I get a volume control in Ubuntu, so I don't have to run aumix in a terminal or something? I've been using Linux since Redhat 5, it's beyond me why these sorts of problems are still around. Someone should just put a damn "Volume Control" element in the list of things to add to the panel, even if it doesn't work, perhaps showing an error message.

  • How to retrieve connection details of CheckPoint SSL Network Extender?

    My workplace uses a Java-based VPN tool named CheckPoint SSL Network Extender. I would like to configure the VPN connection myself using stock OS tools, because I find the applet to be rather unstable. How would I go about getting all of the connection details needed to manually connect to the VPN? My workplace only supports the official client. When I am connected with the Java applet, if I run ipconfig /all I can see that a hidden network connection is created named Check Point Virtual Network Adapter For SSL Network Extender - Packet Scheduler Miniport. I can see the various IP and DNS details there as well. However, because I need to log in to the applet-based tool, I presume I need to export some kind of key in order to use OS tools to configure this. Is this even possible? Answers for any OS are great although I am using Windows XP to test, and also want to use Linux clients.

  • Broken pipe on nginx

    Hi there, I set up php/fastcgi with nginx and now I want to upload very large files via a java-applet. After about 30 seconds, the applet reports a "Broken pipe". In the server logs, i find nothing. I changed any setting in the php.ini (max_execution_time, max_input_time, memory_limit, post_max_size) to very high values, but nothing helps. Any idea?

  • Dynamically creating GWT screens using Metadata?

    I have an AWT applet application that needs to be ported over to GWT. The applet screens are described in meta data and the applet renders each screen dynamically using reflection. We'd like the same thing in GWT/ExtGWT. I've built a working version of this ExtJS whereby the metadata is turned into ExtJS Screen configs in the form of JSON. The drawback with this approach is the "wiring" of controls to data needs to be written in Javascript. GWT is preferred since it'd be all Java code, no JS. Upon digging in it's possible to render the screens using GWT off the metadata using GWT.create(). The problem I'm having is the wiring to hook a dynamically created button for example to an event handler requires reflection which is not supported in GWT. Is this conclusion correct? and if so, are there any other ways to achieve this type of dynamic UI using ExtGWT?

    Hello, This question has been asked multiple times I know. From what I understand, broadly speaking, if I include a GPL module in my app, I have to also release my app's source code for free. Now if the module is a java app (which I have modified) and included in my own java app, and say I use it as an applet on my website, do I need to distribute the source code to all the users visiting the website? Can I distribute the code only to people who ask for it? If I sell my applet, do I need to distribute the source code to all the users or ONLY to the users who purchase my applet?     Is there a way to get a listing of control panel categories on Windows Vista and Windows 7 using the shell? Is there a way to determine which category an applet is assigned to using conical Names using the shell? such as Microsoft.Mouse is in which category? I have some code that works nicely to display control panel applet names obtained from the shell in a TListView in a Vista Classic ungrouped list. I'd like to try to group the applet names in the TListView similar to Control Panel Classic Grouped by Category in Vista. Bill

  • PlanetQuest and the start of a new project!

    At the Planet Quest http://planetquest.jpl.nasa.gov/ web site there is an interesting page on the number of planets detected around other stars. There is a link to a page at http://planetquest.jpl.nasa.gov/widget.cfm for an applet to poll for this information. I downloaded the applet but had no wish to install it. Instead I viewed it in Notepad++ and found that it contacted http://planetquest.jpl.nasa.gov/atlas/xml/planetstats.cfm to get data on the latest discovery. I have amedned the CommonData project and have wrote a class in that to poll for the information.   • Synaptic opens with "starting without Administrative privileges

    When I try to open Synaptic from the AWN Cardapio applet menu it gives me the 'starting without administrative privileges' message and then I can't install anything. I can run sudo synaptic and it works fine, but how can I get it to just prompt me for my password like it used to? I don't like having to open terminal just to open synaptic. Any ideas? im using AWN Cardapio Applet and not the GNOME panel classic menu, so i can't just change the command in the menu, like in the classic one.
