  • 3D game editor with C++ support and Bullet Physics

    - by Raghav Bali
I am very new to game development and hence the question. Is there any open-source game editor that uses Bullet Physics engine with C++ code edit support.I have read about blender but it allows python based editing(if I am not wrong here). I need an editor to quickly draw the needed objects and concentrate more on the logic on their interactions(mostly magnetism based). This(my project) is part of an already existing legacy code in C++ which is forcing the dependency. Also, is there any physics engine which provides support for magnetism? Any help will surely be great. Thanks

  • Using dot To Access Object Attribute and Proper abstraction

    - by cobie
I have been programming in python and java for quite a number of years and one thing i find myself doing is using the setters and getters from java in python but a number of blogs seem to think using the dot notation for access is the pythonic way. What I would like to know is if using dot to access methods does not violate abstraction principle. If for example I implement an attribute as a single object and use dot notation to access, if I wanted to change the code later so that the attribute is represented by a list of objects, that would require quite some heavy lifting which violates abstraction principle.

  • BeanInfo Editor in NetBeans Rocks

    - by Geertjan
Impressed by a cool feature I didn't know about. If you have some JavaBean, like my Event class below, you can right-click it and choose "BeanInfo Editor": Now, as you can see above, I don't have a BeanInfo class. So I am now asked whether the IDE should create one for me. So I say OK and then I have a new BeanInfo class, generated from my Event class, as well as a multiview editor for visually editing the BeanInfo class: Thanks Eric and Nicklas from Artificial Solutions in Stockholm for pointing this out to me today. It comes in very handy in NetBeans Platform applications when you're working with a BeanNode and want to customize the display of your properties.

  • Free & Open Source XML Editor Built on Maven

    - by Geertjan
Here you can download the sources of an XML Editor that uses libraries from NetBeans IDE 7.3 Beta 2 as its basis, while using Maven as its build system: http://java.net/projects/nb-api-samples/sources/api-samples/show/versions/7.3/misc/XMLEditorInMavenNBRCP And here's what it looks like to the user: Note: The Favorites window has been rebranded as "File Browser" and Nimbus is used for the look and feel, thanks to a .conf file that is registered in the POM of the application project.  The cool part is that I didn't type one line of code to get the above result and that only those pieces that an XML Editor actually needs are included in the application, though it could be pruned even further.

  • Making a level editor for my game

    - by Sherif Maher Eaid
I am doing a 2D sprite based game in XNA for WP7, The game logic is simple, you start at some point, you want to avoid obstacles and reach a certain goal. obviously I need to make many levels for the game to be challenging and funny. I am considering making a level editor for my game where I can be able to design the level using some kind of GUI then it translates that to a .lvl or something that the game can read and interpret that to a playable level. I am asking for an already made level editor for XNA/WP7.

  • Visual Studio Paired Editor Panes

    - by Chumpy
Is there any way to make Visual Studio have "paired" editor panes, somewhat like XCode's Assistant Editor feature? More specifically, I'd like to replicate the XCode feature of having a .cpp file's .h partner be automatically open in an adjacent editor panel. So, when a .cpp file is opened in a text editor panel (let's say, on the left of the screen), its analogous .h file will open in another panel (on the right). That way both can be edited on the same screen at the same time, without the need to manually place both files in their respective editor panes. Hope that makes sense, I'm not really sure what terminology to use in order to search for existing solutions.

  • Dynamic editor upload into web page. Need advice

    - by Andrew Florko
Hello everybody, I am writing intranet site for tracking employees science activities in organization. There lots of editable information on each personal page (science degree, publications & so on) so I upload editor per request (user clicks "edit" and modal dialog with html editor: set of textboxes/comboboxes/autocomplete features & validation logic appears). Editor is html layout that is wrapped with jquery dialog plugin + some logic, written as javascript functions that should be invoked from the callee page (onsubmit, validate, afterLoad editor events). There are also attributes (editor preferrable with and height) that are passed to callee page also. Currently I send these functions & attribute as ... function onsubmit() { }; function validate() { } var width = 640; var height = 800 ... code that is embedded into the request page. Function calls and editor markup wrap with jquery plugin completed in the callee page. It works, but I have some try { call editor event handler } catch { } stuff in callee page (because not every editor provides these functions) and some attributes (editor width & height for instance) that are loaded as variables declared in javascript. Please, suggest, is there a better approach to build & use custom editors for my situation. Thank you in advance!

  • Which types use a FileNameEditor in a PropertyGrid?

    - by Wolfgang
I need to change the editor for a property attached to a .net PropertyGrid, but I cannot set the Editor attribute of that property, because the property was generated by a tool, including all attributes. The desired editor is System.Windows.Forms.Design.FileNameEditor I can find many tutorials on the web to assign this editor to string properties by setting the editor attribute, but I cannot set the editor attribute in this case. However, I can advise the code generation tool to behave such that the string property which I want to be edited with the FileNameEditor becomes converted to another property with different type. In order to do so, I would need to know which type is edited by the FileNameEditor as default. I didn't find any list on the web which would tell me for a given editor which types employ this editor automatically when displayed in a PropertyGrid.

  • Why does the location of my vehicle spawner change when I open a matinee?

    - by Gareth Jones
I'm doing work with InterActors and vehicle spawners in Unreal Tournament 3's editor, and have it set up like so: (The Walkway its on is the InterActor) However if I go in Kemsit and open the matinee that handles the InterActor, this happens: It does look to me like the editor is moving it out of the way so I can see the InterActor (which would be very clever) because only the image of the vehicle moves, not the gizmo, nor does the vehicle spawn in that location in game. Is this the case?

  • Is there a way to make a serialized member to serialize as an attribute?

    - by Shimmy
Is there a way to make a serialized member to serialize as an attribute: <Serializable> Public Class Person Public Property Name As String End Class I want than when this class is xml-serialized, it should produce: <Person Name="John Doe" /> And what I mean is that instead of the Name property should be serialized as an element, it should be serialized as an xml attribute.

  • (Free) Text editor on Windows with a folder view?

  • What needs to be passed to an editor from a keyboard app to move the cursor one char left?

    - by yno
What key code does an Android editor app expect the keyboard app to send when it is going to be interpreted as a left arrow? In other words, what is the keyboard program supposed to send to its calling program (some kind of editor) if the user intends to move the cursor one char to the left? A related issue: what do the minus values for the "android:codes" attribute mean? () Any pointers to these issues will be appreciated.

  • What font do you use for your code editor?

    - by Harmen
For a long time I used Courier New as default font for my code editor, until I got more into typography and found this new fixed-width font called Triskweline: The font is beautiful, but unfortunately it works only at size 10pt. This made me wonder: what (custom) font do you use for your code editor?

  • C# XmlSchemaSet - Resolving included schemas to enumerate attribute groups

    - by satixx
    Hi, I currently have a compiled XmlSchemaSet from which I get possible elements/attributes for each specific "parent" element defined in the schema. I have a single "master" xsd schema which includes another schema and uses attributeGroup references for some "common" elements. Here is a sample: (MasterSchema.xsd) <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <xs:schema id="MasterSchema" xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" targetNamespace="CommonNamespace.xsd" xmlns="CommonNamespace.xsd" xmlns:mstns="CommonNamespace.xsd" elementFormDefault="qualified" > <xs:include schemaLocation="SourceAttributeGroups.xsd"/> <xs:element name="Binding" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="2"> <xs:complexType> <xs:attribute name="Name" type="xs:string"/> <xs:attributeGroup ref="BindingSourceAttributeGroup"/> </xs:complexType> </xs:element> </xs:schema> (SourceAttributeGroups.xsd) <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <xs:schema id="SourceAttributeGroups" xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" targetNamespace="CommonNamespace.xsd" xmlns="CommonNamespace.xsd" xmlns:mstns="CommonNamespace.xsd" elementFormDefault="qualified" > <xs:attributeGroup id="BindingSourceAttributeGroup" name="BindingSourceAttributeGroup"> <xs:attribute name="Source"> <xs:simpleType> <xs:restriction base="xs:string"> <xs:enumeration value="Data"/> </xs:restriction> </xs:simpleType> </xs:attribute> <!-- When Source is None --> <xs:attribute name="Value" type="xs:string"/> <!-- Label --> <xs:attribute name="Label" type="xs:string"/> </attributeGroup> </xs:schema> I would like to create an XmlSchemaSet in C# which would resolve, compile and "merge" every references of the MasterSchema so it would finaly look like this: (MasterSchema.xsd) <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <xs:schema id="MasterSchema" xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" targetNamespace="CommonNamespace.xsd" xmlns="CommonNamespace.xsd" xmlns:mstns="CommonNamespace.xsd" elementFormDefault="qualified" > <xs:include schemaLocation="SourceAttributeGroups.xsd"/> <xs:element name="Binding" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="2"> <xs:complexType> <xs:attribute name="Name" type="xs:string"/> <xs:attribute name="Source"> <xs:simpleType> <xs:restriction base="xs:string"> <xs:enumeration value="Data"/> </xs:restriction> </xs:simpleType> </xs:attribute> <!-- When Source is None --> <xs:attribute name="Value" type="xs:string"/> <!-- Label --> <xs:attribute name="Label" type="xs:string"/> </xs:complexType> </xs:element> </xs:schema> This way, I could traverse each XmlSchemaParticle of the compiled schema to get every single attribute for a specific element, even when its attributes are defined in an external schema. At the moment, when I get the possible attributes for a "Binding" element, I only get the "Name" attribute since it is originally defined in the "master" schema. What would be the possible solutions to this problem? Thanks! Satixx

  • XmlException - inserting attribute gives "unexpected token" exception

    - by Anders Svensson
Hi, I have an XmlDocument object in C# that I transform, using XslTransform, to html. In the stylesheet I insert an id attribute in a span tag, taking the id from an element in the XmlDocument. Here is the template for the element: <xsl:template match="word"> <span> <xsl:attribute name="id"><xsl:value-of select="@id"></xsl:value-of></xsl:attribute> <xsl:apply-templates/> </span> </xsl:template> But then I want to process the result document as an xhtml document (using the XmlDocument dom). So I'm taking a selected element in the html, creating a range out of it, and try to load the element using XmlLoad(): wordElem.LoadXml(range.htmlText); But this gives me the following exception: "'598' is an unexpected token. The expected token is '"' or '''. Line 1, position 10." And if I move the cursor over the range.htmlText, I see the tags for the element, and the "id" shows without quotes, which confuses me (i.e.SPAN id=598 instead of SPAN id="598"). To confuse the matter further, if I insert a blank space or something like that in the value of the id in the stylesheet, it works fine, i.e.: <span> <xsl:attribute name="id"><xsl:text> </xsl:text> <xsl:value-of select="@id"></xsl:value-of></xsl:attribute> <xsl:apply-templates/> </span> (Notice the whitespace in the xsl:text element). Now if I move the cursor over the range.htmlText, I see an id with quotes as usual in attributes (and as it shows if I open the html file in notepad or something). What is going on here? Why can't I insert an attribute this way and have a result that is acceptable as xhtml for XmlDocument to read? I feel I am missing something fundamental, but all this surprises me, since I do this sort of transformations using xsl:attribute to insert attributes all the time for other types of xsl transformations. Why doesn't XmlDocument accept this value? By the way, it doesn't matter if it is an id attribute. i have tried with the "class" attribute, "style" etc, and also using literal values such as "style" and setting the value to "color:red" and so on. The compiler always complains it is an unvalid token, and does not include quotes for the value unless there is a whitespace or something else in there (linebreaks etc.). I hope I have provided enough information. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Basically, what I want to accomplish is set an id in a span element in html, select a word in a webbrowser control with this document loaded, and get the id attribute out of the selected element. I've accomplished everything, and can actually do what I want, but only if I use regex e.g. to get the attribute value, and I want to be able to use XmlDocument instead to simply get the value out of the attribute directly. I'm sure I'm missing something simple, but if so please tell me. Regards, Anders
