Hello,
Today I got my Apple Newton MessagePad 2000 and then I want to start developing for it. I already downloaded and installed the Newton Toolkit, but where I can learn NewtonScript?
Thanks.
Hi, I am learning python for a while, now I like tolearn python for web, using python as a back-end of website. where and how do I start learning this:
Example usages are : connecting database and retrieve and store information from forms
I am trying to become more familiar with SQL by writing queries against the Northwind database.
I am looking for some exercises that would help me tolearn SQL and features of SQL Server. It is important that the exercises have solutions, and in complicated cases, it would be great if there was an explanation for the query.
Thanks for the answers so far but I still have not found what I am looking for:
Is there any free resource, available online, without registration, that I can find a list of these exercises?
As a reasonable proficient Python programmer, I'm wondering what a good second language tolearn would be. More specifically, something that does well the things that Python doesn't in general do as well. My first guess would be C/C++ since it's got easy extensibility with Python and because it offers generally better performance, but I'm wondering if Java or C# might be a better or at least equivalently good option with different up/downsides compared to C/C++.
I have always been kind of confused by threads, and my class right now makes heavy use of them. We are using java.util.concurrent but I don't even really get the basics. UpDownLatch, Futures, Executors; these words just fly over my head. Can you guys suggest any resources to help learn what I need from the ground up?
Thanks a lot in advance!
What's the best way tolearn the essentials of geometry (and other types of math) used in drawing/graphics programming - e.g. curves (like bezier curves), transformations, matrices, etc.?
I am new to programming and only know html, css,PHP and would like to start learning another new language. I am focused on web development and would just like to get your opinion on ASP.net and python.
Which language would serve me best in making sites as to general programming? ASP.NET or django python?
I know Python is "easy tolearn" and similar to PHP, but ASP.net is also a good language.
Hi guys, I've just started learning Struts and I'm trying to be marketable for a good job as a Java programmer. My next decision would be choosing which tolearn next, Spring or Hibernate?
Also do you guys have any suggestions or tips for me to be good? Thanks in advance!
I am programming in Ruby and have wanted tolearn about matrices but I can't find any resources for actually learning about them. Are there any good tutorials on matrices and programming? It would be nice if it would be in ruby but other languages are fine too.
I am a .NET webdev using ASP.NET, C# etc... I "learned" javascript in college 5+ years ago and can do basic jobs with it. But I wonder if it is useful to become proficient in it.
Why should I learn Javascript?
Is it more advantageous then learning JQuery or a different library?
I used rational rose for UML diagramming. It seemed to be very user-friendly and intuitive. But this visio this is seems so awful. It is not intuitive at all. And I am getting what I am expecting. How tolearn more about visio 2007?
Hi
I'm going to start learning and using UML.
I need to know what considerations do you suggest for me? What is the best way tolearn effectively it do you think?
Thank you
Ok here is my situation. I've studied Java in my college for 2 semesters. But you know they teach you jack in there, just the basics. We skipped half of our textbook and even then our professors don't teach from section to section of each chapter. I don't blame them. It's hard as it is for new students to understand even the basic concepts of programming. Now this is a community college we are talking about and not Stanford, MIT or Berkeley.
So like I said I've done 2 semester of Java. I really like our textbook because it has some challenging projects to do at the end of each chapter. This textbook is pretty clear and i have no problem understanding it (although 2-D and 3-D Arrays have given me some trouble). I have tried reading a few C# books such as Pro C# 2008 and .NET 3.5 and C# 4.0 in a Nutshell. I found these books to be dry and overloaded with information that put me to sleep (No offense to the authors of those 2 wonderful, according to amazon ratings, books).
Would you suggest I finish my Java textbook, brush up my knowledge of Arrays, Polymorphism, and etc that are universal to most programming languages. And then switch to C#, plus the syntax is very similar so it should be easy to switch. Or should I just start learning C# right now from the very beginning? If it's the latter then could you recommend some free online resources that will keep me engaged and at the same time teach me everything I need to know about C#.
Someone has recommended me tolearn .NET first, but I found it to be not the brightest idea. .NET is just a big monster full of libraries. How am I going to apply it if I don't even know the C# or VB!? Anyway back to my question: Master Java and switch to C# or just go with C#?
DISCLAIMER: I don't want to start .NET vs J2EE or C# vs Java flame war. I am going with C#. I've decided that I want to work in a Microsoft shop in the future. .NET is what I want tolearn.
Thanks! Will be waiting for the answers.
What's the best language (in terms of simplicity, readability and code elegancy) in your opinion, tolearn and work with metaprogramming?
I think metaprogramming is the "future of coding". Not saying that code will extinct, but we can see this scenario coming on new technologies.
After watching the tier 1 video, where do I go tolearn how to program in C#?
Is there an online video series?
Usually people say to "Read the Manual", but what is a manual these days? Do I just say "Help", "View Help" and start grokking?
Someone told me to use MFC,but it seems that MFC will be dead, although its not already...
so if i want tolearn windows programming now, which one should i choose? thx.

I'm interested in learning about what additional features and APIs an app has access to when an iPhone is jailbroken. Can someone provide me with some basic resources tolearn about this? I would be most interested in:
documentation on the private APIs
filesystem layout
app configuration, e.g. how did WinterBoard replace SpringBoard? Apps that replace the lockscreen?
tools needed
Suggestions appreciated.
The question title says it all, really. What books, videos, articles are you looking at tolearn how to use the newly released WCF RIA Services for Silverlight?
Thanks!
I have a background in python and I'm looking for a new language. I am almost only intrested in making games.
I have come to 2 languages. C# and Action Script.
C# because Microsoft allows you to make Indie XBLA games programmed in C# ONLY.
Action Script so I can make flash games for new grounds and ect.
What do you think is better tolearn in the long run?
