  • When should I open and close a website's cached WCF proxy?

    I've browsed around the other articles on StackOverflow that relate to caching WCF proxies for reuse, and I've read this article explaining why I should explicitly open the proxy before calling anything on it. I'm still a little hazy on the best implementation details. My question is: when should I open and close proxies for service calls on a website, and what should their lifetime be (per call, per request, or per web app)? We aren't planning on leveraging cached security contexts at the moment (but it's not unforeseeable). Thanks!

  • x86_64 Assembly Command Line Arguments

    I'm new to assembly, and I just got familiar with the call stack, so bare with me. To get the command line arguments in x86_64 on Mac OS X, I can do the following: _main: sub rsp, 8 ; 16 bit stack alignment mov rax, 0 mov rdi, format mov rsi, [rsp + 32] call _printf Where format is "%s". rsi gets set to argv[0]. So, from this, I drew out what (I think) the stack looks like initially: top of stack <- rsp after alignment return address <- rsp at beginning (aligned rsp + 8) [something] <- rsp + 16 argc <- rsp + 24 argv[0] <- rsp + 32 argv[1] <- rsp + 40 ... ... bottom of stack And so on. Sorry if that's hard to read. I'm wondering what [something] is. After a few tests, I find that it is usually just 0. However, occasionally, it is some (seemingly) random number. EDIT: Also, could you tell me if the rest of my stack drawing is correct?

    I'm developing BBS in struts2 and tiles(2) framework. I want to push a value in ActionSupport class and pop the value in layout.jsp of tiles. but i just keep failing to access to the value. I will explain my works step by step. 1) Users click a link to view an article at list page. And BoardView class will be called as defined in struts.xml --list.jsp-- <a href="view_board?num=${num}"> ${ subject } </a> --struts.xml-- <action name="View_board" class="board.BoardView"> <result type="tiles">board.view</result> </action> 2)Action class will put title into the value stack... right? --BoardView class-- public class BoardView extends ActionSupport private String title; public void Execute() throws Exception { ... setTitle(board.getSubject()); return SUCCESS; } ... (setter and getter of title) 3) As ActionClass returns SUCCESS, it will go to tiles definition named board.view --struts.xml-- <action name="View_board" class="board.BoardView"> <result type="tiles">board.view</result> </action> 4)Here's the tiles-def.xml and the problem. I think the value of 'title' can't be popped from value stack. ==tiles-def.xml== <definition name="board.view" extends="layout"> <put-attribute name="title" value="%title" /> <put-attribute name="body" value="/board/view.jsp" /> </definition> (I can't indent with tags... sorry) Here's the layout.jsp ==layout.jsp== ... <title><tiles:getAsString name="title" /></title> ... I tried to replace the value attribute to %{title}, $title and ${title}. But nothings worked out. Web Browser just shows the string itself($title). I don't know what to do... please help me. It is, of course, a daunting question how users on platforms like Windows would most easily install plugins or addons in such a way that my app can easily discover that they have been installed. But beyond that basic question is another: how can a third-party developer bundle their extension with whatever libraries the extension itself needs (which might be binary modules, like lxml) in such a way that the plugin's dependencies become available for import at the same time that the plugin becomes available. How can this be approached? Will my application need its own plug-in area on disk and its own plug-in registry to make this tractable? Or are there general mechanisms, that I could avoid writing myself, that would allow an app that is distributed as a single executable to look around and find plugins that are also installed as single files?

  • Can I have a shell alias evaluate a history substitution command?

    I'm trying to write an alias for cd !!:1, which takes the 2nd word of the previous command, and changes to the directory of that name. For instance, if I type rails new_project cd !!:1 the second line will cd into the "new_project" directory. Since !!:1 is awkward to type (even though it's short, it requires three SHIFTed keys, on opposite sides of of the keyboard, and then an unSHIFTed version of the key that was typed twice SHIFTed), I want to just type something like cd- but since the !!:1 is evaluated on the command line, I (OBVIOUSLY) can't just do alias cd-=!!:1 or I'd be saving an alias that contained "new_project" hard-coded into it. So I tried alias cd-='!!:1' The problem with this is that the !!:1 is NEVER evaluated, and I get a message that no directory named !!:1 exists. How can I make an alias where the history substitution is evaluated AT THE TIME I ISSUE THE ALIAS COMMAND, not when I define the alias, and not never? (I've tried this in both bash and zsh, and get the same results in both.)

  • Flash As3 Mute Button problems

    Hey guys, I am trying to create a UI movie clip that can be used across different scenes. It uses variables from the root scope to determine states. When i press the mute button is works fine, however when i try to un-mute things go weird. Sometimes it takes 2 clicks to unmute, sometimes more. It seems random. Muting however seems to work first time.. Any ideas?   • Jquery tabs and forms

    Hi, this may be a weird problem but I’m not sure the best way to go about it.. I am using JQuery ajax tabs. The tab section is dynamic so multiple tabs can be added, as the content is loaded via Ajax the same content can be loaded into different tabs. The other important detail is that i am using the Cache option so the tabs maintain state. Now problems arise when more than one tab has been loaded. It looks like HTML items such as forms and divs now have duplicated id's within the DOM, so Ajax queries can no longer distinguish between the elements.. The result is that any JavaScript/Ajax breaks. Does anyone have any suggestions for way to tackle such a problem? Thanks in advance..

  • How can I run NUnit(Selenium Grid) tests in parallel?

    My current project uses NUnit for unit tests and to drive UATs written with Selenium. Developers normally run tests using ReSharper's test runner in VS.Net 2003 and our build box kicks them off via NAnt. We would like to run the UAT tests in parallel so that we can take advantage of Selenium Grid/RCs so that they will be able to run much faster. Does anyone have any thoughts on how this might be achieved? and/or best practices for testing Selenium tests against multiple browsers environments without writing duplicate tests automatically?   • Finding the stored procedure that a Crystal Report is using

    I need to retrieve the name of the stored procedure that a crystal report is running. Is there any way to do this in C# using the CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument object? I can't seem to find a property that will give me the stored procedure name. Is this even possible? I've been through almost all the properties I can think of. The DataDefinition object has collections for the Formula, Parameter, Group Name, and Running Total Fields, but not one for the Database Fields.

  • Problems setting up an ASP.NET MVC site on IIS7 w/ Nhibernate

    When deploying my published website to the host (Its a shared hosting plan) I get this error: [NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.] System.Web.PipelineStepManager.ResumeSteps(Exception error) +929 System.Web.HttpApplication.BeginProcessRequestNotification(HttpContext context, AsyncCallback cb) +91 System.Web.HttpRuntime.ProcessRequestNotificationPrivate(IIS7WorkerRequest wr, HttpContext context) +508 I found this question which describes my problem, but I'm not initializing NHibernate in Application_Start, it is already being done in Init. The only other cause of this error I can find is that the Global.asax file is inheriting from a class other than HttpApplication, but I'm not doing that either. This is pretty much the Global.asax file protected void Application_Start() { AreaRegistration.RegisterAllAreas(); RegisterRoutes(RouteTable.Routes); } public override void Init() { base.Init(); if (_wasNHibernateInitialized) return; // Initialize NHibernate // Other setup like the StructureMap initialization } Is there any other reason why an ASP.NET MVC application would give this error when being deployed to IIS7?

  • flash as3 document class and event listeners

    I think i have this document class concept entirly wrong now, i was wondering if someone mind explaining it.. I assumed that the above class would be instantiated within the first frame on scene one of a movie. I also assumed that when changing scenes the state of the class would remain constant so any event listeners would still be running.. Scene 1: I have a movieclip named ui_mc, that has a button in for muting sound. Scene 2: I have the same movie clip with the same button. Now the eventListener picks it up in the first scene, however it does not in the second. I am wondering for every scene do the event listeners need to be resetup? If that is the case if their an event listener to listen for the change in scene, so i can set them back up again lol..   • Problems with VBScript - RegRead when running as a service

    I am working on a script that runs under a custom installation utility, which is running as a service. To get the current user name the script executes this command: str_Acct_Name_Val = "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Logon User Name" str_Acct_Name = RegRead(str_Acct_Name_Val) When I run the script from the command prompt, it can read that value just fine (under an administrator account). When the value is attempted to be read with service/local system privileges, the read fails. What is the problem here? EDIT: Some additional information. When running as a service calling the current user name returns "SYSTEM" and my guess is that HKCU doesn't "exist" under the view of the SYSTEM, since there is technically no current user. There is a user logged in at the time, but not in the scope of the running script. Maybe there is somewhere in HKLM I could find the currently logged on user?

    Hello, I'm attempting to write a script to generate SSH Identity key pairs for me. from M2Crypto import RSA key = RSA.gen_key(1024, 65337) key.save_key("/tmp/my.key", cipher=None) The file /tmp/my.key looks great now. By running ssh-keygen -y -f /tmp/my.key > /tmp/my.key.pub I can extract the public key. My question is how can I extract the public key from python? Using key.save_pub_key("/tmp/my.key.pub") saves something like: -----BEGIN PUBLIC KEY----- MFwwDQYJKoZIhvcNAQEBBQADASDASDASDASDBarYRsmMazM1hd7a+u3QeMP ...     I first want to say I've read the Subversion manual. I've read this question. I've also read this question. Here's my dilemma. Let's say I have 3 repositories laid out like this: DataAccessObject/ branches/ tags/ trunk/ DataAccessObject/ DataAccessObjectTests/ PlanObject/ branches/ tags/ trunk/ PlanObject/ PlanObjectTests/ WinFormsPlanViewer/ branches/ tags/ trunk/ WinFormsPlanViewer/ The PlanObject and DataAccessObject repositories contain shared projects. They are used by the WinFormsPlanViewer, but also by several other projects in several other repositories. Bear with me here. I put an svn:externals definition on the WinFormsPlanViewer/trunk folder like this: https://server/svn/PlanObject/trunk Objects https://server/svn/DataAccessObject/trunk Objects And here's what I see after I do an svn update. WinFormsPlanViewer/ branches/ tags/ trunk/ WinFormsPlanViewer/ Objects/ DataAccessObject/ DataAccessObjectTests/ The PlanObject stuff doesn't even come down in the update! I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but there's an externals definition on the PlanObject/trunk folder also: https://server/svn/DataAccessObject/trunk Objects What's going on here? What am I doing wrong? Are there bad consequences of referencing the PlanObject and the DataAccessObject from the WinFormsPlanViewer using svn:externals when the PlanObject references the DataAccessObject using svn:externals also?

    Hi, I want to make an application that executes a remote script. The user can create a script (probabily a LUA script) then stores it in the server. Then he can uses an API for execute the script. I was thinking that API could be a webservice. So my questions are: I need high performance to execute the script. So my first choice was LUA script. Someone has another sugestion? Cause I need high perfomance, I was thinking if the webservice is the best solution. Maybe I could create a TCP/IP Windows Service that hold the users request. It is important to say that I will have many user executing scripts at the same time. So I will have a concurrency problem. My scripts will query in a database. I will use Tokyo Cabinet or Tokio Tyrant. I think Tokio Tyrant is the only solution cause I will have many requests. For perfomance, Do I need to make a connection pooling? Is there anyway to share variables between webservices requests? To make the webservice or the Windows service i was thinking to use C++. Can someone help with these questions? thanks

  • Is using jquery to call a WCF Data Service from the UI violating the MVC pattern.

    I'm fairly new to ASP.Net MVC 2 and understand the MVC pattern in itself. But my question is what's the best way to populate dropdownlists in the UI sticking to the MVC pattern. Should I be going through the controller? Every article I've seen to do this shows how to do it using javascript and jquery. I have a test application that I'm re-writing in MVC2 I have my dropdowns working with jquery basically calling a WCF Data Service that returns JSON which populates the dropdowns. Seems to me though that this is bypassing the controller and going straight to the model therefore strictly violating the MVC pattern. Or am I missing something obvious here. You thoughts or best practices would be greatly welcome here. Thanks
