  • Firefox Like address bar in Chrome

    Firefox's "awesome bar" searches history including the titles of pages incrementally. How can I get chrome to also search the titles in history ? For example, for this very page,in Firefox, I can search "Firefox Lik" and this page's address shows up in Firefox but not in Chrome Is there any Chrome extension that can do this ?

  • Online personal extension collection of Chrome browser

    Is it possible to have an online site to see the list/collection of installed extensions of the Chrome browsers installed among my PCs? Please share. ps. I notice that we have the Chrome backup feature which will restore my chrome extensions after we sign in via a Google account. So I need to see the list online somewhere so that to disabled/remove the extensions that I don't wanna waste time reinstalling.

  • Undo Google Sync in chrome

    I didn't know that my google account wasn't in sync with my chrome for the last couple of months and now that I have link again, the restored record is several months old. Now, that I've lost all my recent bookmarks and all other stuff...is there anything or anyway so I could revert the Google sync so I can get my bookmarks back? Update 1 I have found that under C:\Users\Profile_Name\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default there is a file named Bookmarks.bak that holds the old state of my bookmarks before the sync. Update 2 Bookmarks is the file that holds the current(after sync) bookmark list. I replaced Bookmarks with Bookmarks.bak and restarted chrome, but still chrome isn't fetching information from the updated file. So, I have my old bookmark information, but how to restore it in chrome. Update 3 : solved I still couldn't figure out why replacing the bookmarks file didn't work and aparently that's the only solution available on web. I reinstalled everything and then copied the old bookmarks file. Then I got my bookmarks back again. Lession learned : Check regularly if google sync is working.

  • Google Chrome not using local cache

    Hi. I've been using Google Chrome as a substitute for Firefox not being able to handle having lots of tabs open at the same time. Unfortunately, it looks like Chrome is having the same problem. Freakin useless. I had to end Chrome as my whole system had slowed to a crawl. When I restarted it, I opted to restore the tabs that were last open. At this stage, every one of the 20+ tabs srated downloading the pages they had previously had open. My question is: why can't they open a locally stored/saved copy of the web page from cache? Does Google Chrome store pages in a cache? Also: after most of the pages had completed their downloading, I clicked on each tab to view the page. Half of them only display a white page, and I have to reload the page manually. What is causing this? Thanks for your help.

  • Windows 7 Task bar + Chrome tab Issue

    When you have say more then one file or something open or window (not tabs), the windows 7 task bar combines or stacks them on top of each other. Well my chrome started to do that with tabs. It looks like I have more then one chrome window open, but its just tabs all in one window. So when I click on the stacked chrome on my task bar it shows a preview of each tab and then goes to that tab. I would much rather have it be one chrome icon rather then stacked and then I can select my tab. The preview for the many tabs I have open is annoying me. I know this has to be something I accidental turned on because it did not do this before nor does it do it on my other computers. Thank you.

    I often have a remote desktop session or a java remoting tool up and whenever i copy from within a remote session and paste into chrome browser, the browser freezes and i have to kill it for anything to work again. has anyone seen this or have a resolution? i have to remember to copy and paste into notepad first and then copy from notepad and then into chrome which is a pain. I am using google chrome 5.0

  • Open mail-links with gmail in Chrome 9

    it happens quite often, that I click a link over a persons name, just to see that it launches the default mail client of my system. I thought it would be a normal link, but it was a "mailto:"-link. I would like Chrome to start gmail, not my default email client. For Firefox, I had only to paste this in the URL-Bar: javascript:window.navigator.registerProtocolHandler("mailto","https://mail.google.com/mail/?extsrc=mailto&url=%s","GMail") Unfortunately, it doesn't work in Chrome 9. I have found this tutorial for Ubuntu, but I would like a solution in Chome. If it is only in Chrome, I can sync the settings.   • Google Chrome on Linux not using ALSA for sound

    On my laptop, I've got an .asoundrc file that outputs sound to my USB headset. This works fine for SMplayer and Firefox. However, Google Chrome (at least, Flash-based and HTML5-based videos and HTML5-based audio in Chrome) plays through the laptop speakers instead. I've tried running Chrome from a command-line, hoping there would be some helpful output, but no such luck. I've tried looking through Google for whether Chrome even uses ALSA, or if it uses something else, but I have been unsuccessful in this. This question seems to be the same issue, but no suggestion was made. Anyone have any ideas? I'm running Gentoo with a 3.10.17 kernel, 1.0.27 ALSA utils, 2.6.5 FVWM, and 36.0.1985.143 Chrome. If you need more info, please let me know. EDIT: I've configured the USB headset as the default ALSA device. Volume levels for both headset and onboard are set and un-muted using alsamixer. If I start it in the terminal I can see the following output: [6:6:4528137750:FATAL:sandbox_init_linux.cc(378)] prctl(PR_SET_NO_NEW_PRIVS) failed: Invalid argument Any idea how to solve this? Chrome version: 20.0.1132.47 Ubuntu: 12.04 x64 Kernel: 3.2.0-21-generic #34-Ubuntu EDIT: It is possible to start chrome with --no-sandbox switch.

    Hi, I'm looking for a way to make Google Chrome always open PDFs with its internal viewer when I click a link, as opposed to downloading it to the default location. It works with most URLs, but some servers set a special header to force the file to be downloaded ("Content-Disposition: attachment;", e.g. http://www.uni-goettingen.de/en/46260.html).   • Entering the user's name in a URL for Chrome through Group Policy

    I am managing a Windows Server 2008 R2 server, with several Windows 7 machines, and we have recently deployed Google Chrome using Group Policy. We also have a locally hosted intranet for storing procedures, forms, and so on, as well as reports that pull directly from our databases. I am trying to put the user's name in the startup URL for Chrome, so that when they open Chrome at the beginning of the day, it can pull a list of items from the database that contains their username. The report works, and I have it using a drop down right now, but I would like to be able to put their username in the URL as a GET variable instead. Does anybody know how I would go about doing that for Chrome? I tried putting ${user_name} in the URL, and I tried putting %username% in the URL, but that didn't translate to anything. Is there some way to escape it so that it gets translated by the system into a username? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I'm downloaded version 37.0 of Google Chrome but, few plugins and extensions didn't worked. I'm uninstalled that version and install 35.0 again, but now i have some errors.   • Fail to load NPAPI plugin in Google Chrome on Mac OS X

    I have been trying to get Google Chrome (6.0.401.1 dev) on Mac OS X to load an NPAPI plugin without success so far. I have been working around the npsimple example from here: http://git.webvm.net/?p=npsimple. Using gcc on Mac and VC++ 2008 on Windows I managed to get it running on Safari and Firefox on Mac OS X and Firefox and Google Chrome on Windows, but not on Google Chrome on Mac OS X. When trying to debug Google Chrome on Mac OS X it seemed Google Chrome was briefly dyld-loading (and immediately dyld-unloading) the plugin on startup, but without actually looking-up any symbols within the plugin or calling any of the functions. It seemed to be doing that for every plugin, though. Also, when loading a page with the embed-tag for the plugin, Google Chrome did not seem to even dyld-load the plugin and no functions were called (not even NP_GetEntryPoints). Google Chrome also does not output any error message, it just simply does not load the plugin. I am not sure I caught everything with gdb because of Google Chrome using different processes, but I have also tried all the switches like --no-sandbox, --single-process and --plugin-startup-dialog (which incidentally does not seem to work at all on Mac OS X). I also made sure the architecture of the binary matches (i.e. 32-bit for Google Chrome). Has anybody had similar problems before? Is there anything I am missing here, like a gcc switch when compiling or something? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Is there a version of Chrome or Chromium whose bookmarks are visible to the HUD?

    I noticed that Firefox has bookmarks that can be executed in the HUD. Love it! Chrome and Chromium, which run javascript apps much faster for some odd reason, allow for history to be called through the HUD, but not bookmarks. This wouldn't be a problem if ALL history was callable, but it seems that Chrome LIMITS the amount of history visible to the hud. Is there a version of chrome or chromium that will see our bookmarks?

    i'm trying to set up a custom search ad, but I am nost sure about the query. On the site it says (https://developers.google.com/custom-search-ads/docs/implementation-guide) 'query' should be dynamic based on your page. This variable targets the ads and therefore should always match what the user on your site has just performed a search for. Now, what I understand is: I have to program my page so that the query variable contains some custom words. Am I right? If a user gets to my site through clicking on an adsense, there is no way to "know" what the user looked for and display my query accordingly, right? Thanks for any help!

  • Does IE have more strict Javascript parsing than Chrome?

    This is not meant to start a religio-technical browser war - I still prefer Chrome, at least for now, but: Because of a perhaps Chrome-related problem with my web page (see https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?can=2&start=0&num=100&q=&colspec=ID%20Pri%20M%20Iteration%20ReleaseBlock%20Cr%20Status%20Owner%20Summary%20OS%20Modified&groupby=&sort=&id=161473), I temporarily switched to IE (10) to see if it would also view the time value as invalid. However, I didn't even get to that point - IE stopped me in my tracks before I could get there; but I found that IE was right - it is more particular/precise in validating my code. For example, I got this from IE: SCRIPT5007: The value of the property '$' is null or undefined, not a Function object ...which was referring to this: <script src="/CommonLogin/Scripts/jquery-1.9.1.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> // body sometimes becomes white???? with jquery 1.6.1 $("body").css("background-color", "#405DA7"); < This line is highlighted as the culprit: $("body").css("background-color", "#405DA7"); jQuery is referenced right above it - so why did it consider "$" to be undefined, especially when Chrome had no problem with it...ah! I looked at that location (/CommonLogin/Scripts/) and saw that, sure enough, the version of jQuery there was actually jquery-1.6.2.min.js. I added the updated jQuery file (1.9.1) and it got past this. So now the question is: why does Chrome ignore this? Does it download the referenced version from its own CDN if it can't find it in the place you specify? IE did flag other errs after that, too; so I'm thinking perhaps IE is better at catching lurking problems than, at least, Chrome is. Haven't tested Firefox diesbzg yet.
