    Hey, I have an XML exported from Oracle DB, which will be downloaded into my application main bundle. i would like to convert this XML file into .plist file so i can assign the values into NSDictionary and NSArrays.. Is there a way to get this to work? or is there a better way to work with an external XML file? note that one of the fields in the XML is a full HTML content example: <main> <DATA_RECORD> <ID>ID1</ID> <NO>1234512</NO> <TYPE>NEW</TYPE> <TYPE_NO>0</TYPE_NO> <TEXT_ID>TEXT1</TEXT_ID> <TEXT><HTML>some html goes here</HTML></TEXT> </DATA_RECORD> </main>

    I'm trying to write a simple method that receives a file an runs it using NUnit. The code I managed to build using NUnit's source does not work: if(openFileDialog1.ShowDialog() != DialogResult.OK) { return; } var builder = new TestSuiteBuilder(); var testPackage = new TestPackage(openFileDialog1.FileName); var directoryName = Path.GetDirectoryName(openFileDialog1.FileName); testPackage.BasePath = directoryName; var suite = builder.Build(testPackage); TestResult result = suite.Run(new NullListener(), TestFilter.Empty); The problem is that I keep getting an exception thrown by builder.Build stating that the assembly was not found.     Hello, Here is a question, i have a plist, with main NSDictoinary, which his keys are dates. for every date, i have NSDictionary which his keys are (let's say) categories every Category holds Keys and values. I would like to create 2 variables that each one will hold the correct NSDictionary NSDictionary *dates = ? NSDictionary *Categories = ? below is my plist, Please help to understand how this should be done. **Note: i do know how to assign the first dates dictionary from the plist.. just stuck with the Categories.   • [iphone] method created in a seperate class returns "out of scope"

    Hey, I have created a Class (subclass of NSObject) which will hold all my SQLs/dbConnections etc.. in a seperate viewcontroller, i have instantiated the SQL's class and performed some actions, all went trough OK. but. one of my methods in the SQL's class is a method defined as follows: -(NSString *)queryTable:(NSUInteger *)fieldnum //query from db, and assign the field value into "fieldName" dbEntity = fieldName; [fieldName release]; } sqlite3_finalize(statement); } return dbEntity; } dbEntity is defined as NSString, and i have set it as a nonatoimc-retain property @property (nonatomic,retain) NSString *dbEntity; when ever i call this method out from my viewController and debug step by step, i see that the method is running, it is quering from the db as expected, but when it passes the value into dbEntity the values in dbEntity are suddenly "out of scope" that is... if i browse this specific action: dbEntity = fieldName; i can see values inside fieldName, but see "out of scope" in dbEntity. Why is that?!? what is wrong with dbEntity definitions? Any help will be appriciated.

  • IText can't keep rows together, second row spans multiple pages but won't stick with first row.

    I am having trouble keeping my first and second rows of my main PDFPTable together using IText. My first row consists of a PDFPTable with some basic search criteria. My second row consists of a PdfPTable that contains all of the tabulated results. Everytime the tabulated results becomes too big and spans multiple pages, it is kicked to the second page automatically rather than showing up directly below the search criteria and then paging to the next page. How can I avoid this problem? I have tried using setSplitRows(false), but I simply get a blank document (see commented lines 117 and 170). How can I keep my tabulated data (second row) up on the first page?   • Which build tool to teach?

    While similiar questions have been asked, this one's focused on which is best/easiest to teach. I'm giving a weekly tutorial at my university focusing on data structures and algorithms. Fromn time to time I introduce tools which may prove helpful in future projects like JUnit, Mercurial, Eclipse etc.. I plan to show them some kind of build tool but I'm not sure which one to choose. I by myself have very little knowledge about build tools, except a little experience in using make. It's more the concept of a build tool I want to show them, not a special tool per se. Which would be the most easiest/future proof/whatever tool to show them? I've read a little bit about Gradle, which looks nice, but so far I think Ant could be a good choice (it's a Java course I'm giving).

    Is it recommended to count in small loops (where possible) down from length - 1 to zero instead of counting up to length - 1? 1.) Counting down for (int i = a.length - 1; i >= 0; i--) { if (a[i] == key) return i; } 2.) Counting up for (int i = 0; i < a.length; i++) { if (a[i] == key) return i; } The first one is slightly faster that the second one (because comparing to zero is faster) but is a little more error-prone in my opinion. Besides, the first one could maybe not be optimized by future improvements of the JVM. Any ideas on that?

Now I wonder if in the 'else' branch of the if/else construct I also need to check for WIFSIGNALED.   • Can you make a living as a system programmer?

I love Java and some of the newer JVM languages but at the same time I really enjoy low-level system programming under Unix, using C and the GNU toolchain (it makes you feel elitist ;-)). Now I wonder a) is there still a market for C system programmers and b) how much do you earn compared to an app programmer c) is it that much fun in a large scale project?
