The overriden method is called although the instance type of the base class is used and not the instance of the derived type. I was using generic and for each loop, both being feature of java 1.5, and it compiled quite fine when used in backend means in simple java classes. But when I'm using these on jsp, jsp is failing to compile with error showing generic and for each as culprit. Can you shed some light on this? Maybe I am at fault with Eclipse settings?

Is there any way (without removing and re-adding) that I could effectively re-index the values; so change the object at index 1 to now be at index 10 for example?     Is there a common or standard directory name for the company-specific stuff that exists in a server? This would include any crons, scripts, webserver docroots, programs, non-database storage areas, service codebases, etc. We could of course put crons in /etc/cron.d, put docroots in /home/webservd, scripts in one of the bin directories, but that would be messy. If XYZ Technology Corp wanted to have all the non-generic stuff in one place, would they make a directory /xyz or /home/xyz or is there an alternative directory name that is not company-specific, but intended for company-specific stuff? What is most common?

  • Firefox: tabs containing a single image sometimes show generic icon instead of thumbnail

    My version of Firefox is 3.5.9, but I've had this issue since single-image tabs started showing a thumbnail of the contained image. Typically, a tab containing a single image will use a thumbnail of the image as the icon before the tab title. Sometimes, though, this icon will be the generic “shaded sphere on blank page” (or perhaps whatever your theme defaults to). I'm guessing this happens whenever height or width is larger than 1024, but I seem to recall (perhaps erroneously) exceptions to this rule. Anyway, hopefully someone will know the definite answer to: Why does this happen?     This may be a really dumb question but how can you open a port on multiple interfaces without defining the interfaces? For example how do I open port 22 on all interfaces? On my machine I have some interfaces that are dynamic and may or may not be available so I have to set "generic" rules.     Hej everyone, problem : I am looking for right way to convert an index from clustered to non-clustered Description : I have a table as below in sybase db: dbo.UserLog Id | UserId |time | .... This is hash partitioned using UserId. Currently it has 2 indexes UserId : non-clustered time: clustered This table has about 20 million records. I now want to make UserId as clustered index and time as non-clustered index. is it correct to user alter index to change from clustered to non-clustered or do i drop index and recreate. does the fact that userId is used in hash partitioning have any implications to this? To me alter seems way to go but I have not yet tried this.

    Hi, I am a Javascript/jQuery/Prototype newcomer and I have a page that has a Prototype function to get info from a database and put it into some input fields. This was made before I came to work on this site and now I've been asked to add a hide/show div function. I tried it in jQuery and there were clashes with the two frameworks, (as found in my previous question). My question now is, how would I go about building a show/hide function in Prototype? I think it will be easier to do it this way than to re-build the info grabber. The page I want to add this to is here. (the green "ny kunde" button should show the div directly below it newCustomer.     Him I'm trying to add a jQuery tooltip to a dynamically generated list, the text I want to display the tooltip on is in a table, so my CSS tooltip doesn't work: CSS tooltip. I tried to add this jQuery tooltip to the page, it works on my local test page, but I think the problem has something to do with uniqur ids, and I'm not sure how to implement the bind all function explained there: "To bind all of the targets to their corresponding content, it takes only one line: $(".tooltip-target").ezpz_tooltip(); Calling ezpz_tooltip() on a class will bind the hover event to each element, and because of the naming convention it will know which content to display." Can someone help me to understand what exactly I have to do to make this work on a dynamic page? The page is Euroworker's checkout product page. (You'll have to add some items to the basket, click the home button on the left of the bnav bar and click the little white button "kjøp" then the orange button "handlevogn".) Thanks.

  • Annotation to make available generic type

    Given an generic interface like interface DomainObjectDAO<T> { T newInstance(); add(T t); remove(T t); T findById(int id); // etc... } I'd like to create a subinterface that specifies the type parameter: interface CustomerDAO extends DomainObjectDAO<Customer> { // customer-specific queries - incidental. } The implementation needs to know the actual template parameter type, but of course type erasure means isn't available at runtime. Is there some annotation that I could include to declare the interface type? Something like @GenericParameter(Customer.class) interface CustomerDAO extends DomainObjectDAO<Customer> { } The implementation could then fetch this annotation from the interface and use it as a substitute for runtime generic type access. Some background: This interface is implemented using JDK dynamic proxies as outlined here. The non-generic version of this interface has been working well, but it would be nicer to use generics and not have to create a subinterface for each domain object type. The actual type is needed at runtime to implement the newInstance method, amongst others.

    Hello, I have the following situation in code, which I suspect may be a bit dodgey: I have a class: abstract class DataAccessBase<T> : IDataAccess where T : AnotherAbstractClass This class DataAccessBase also has a static factory method which creates instances of derived classes of itself using an enum value in a which statement to decide which derived type to create: static IDataAccess CreateInstance(TypeToCreateEnum) Now, the types derived from DataAccessBase<T> are themselves NOT generic, they specify a type for T: class PoLcZoneData : DataAccessBase<PoLcZone> // PoLcZone is derived from AnotherAbstractClass So far I am not sure if this is pushing the limits of good use of generics, but what I am really concerned about is how to access the static CreateInstance() method in the first place: The way I am doing this at the moment is to simply pass any type T where T : AnotherAbstractClass. In particular I am passing AnotherAbstractClass itself. This allows compilation just fine, but it does seem to me that passing any type to a generic class just to get at the statics is a bit dodgey. I have actually simplified the situation somewhat as DataAccessBase<T> is the lower level in the inheritance chain, but the static factory methods exists in a middle tier with classes such as PoLcZoneData being the most derived on the only level that is not generic. What are peoples thoughts on this arrangement?

  • Generic property- specify the type at runtime

    I was reading a question on making a generic property, but I'm a little confused at by the last example from the first answer (I've included the relevant code below): You have to know the type at compile time. If you don't know the type at compile time then you must be storing it in an object, in which case you can add the following property to the Foo class: public object ConvertedValue { get { return Convert.ChangeType(Value, Type); } } That's seems strange: it's converting the value to the specified type, but it's returning it as an object when the value was stored as an object. Doesn't the returned object still require un-boxing? If it does, then why bother with the conversion of the type? I'm also trying to make a generic property whose type will be determined at run time: public class Foo { object Value {get;set;} Type ValType{get;set;} Foo(object value, Type type) { Value = value; ValType = type; } // I need a property that is actually // returned as the specified value type... public object ConvertedValue { get { return Convert.ChangeType(Value, ValType); } } } Is it possible to make a generic property? Does the return property still require unboxing after it's accessed?
