• enable curl in cPanel control panel of a shared hosting for my account

  I have hosted my site in a shared environment. Recently for security reasons the hosting company has disabled socket functions. When i enquired them they said that they will enable to people who personally request for that option. And they said it is a matter of 2 minutes work and asked for my control panel username and password. They said that it is just updating the php.ini for my account. So i want to know how to do it myself. If that could be done by them in 2 minutes then why cant a developer. I asked them but they mumbled... saying not to give trouble to me. so i want to know how to edit php.ini or something like stated above my hosting is using cPanel control panel. suggestions please.

  I have created a service which consists of a web fronted (nginx), python runner glue handler (uwsgi) and my own python code (fetcher). I have made a script (deploy.sh) to start the difference services: nginx uwsgi --ini inifie.ini python fetcher.py & disown My question is regarding how I start my python daemon. I want it to run in the background. It should not print anything to my current terminal. If I add "print" calls to my fetcher script I currently see them in the terminal window. So my question is: how do I start my fetcher.py script as a daemon?

I've been working on this for hours and can't figure out how to get pg_connect to work. Any ideas???

• CURL on PHP 5.2 works in CLI but not in IIS

  I have a Windows 2003 Server running IIS with php 5.2.8, I'm trying to use CURL, and it works in CLI mode (if i execute php.exe) but it does not seem to be registered when running under IIS. The output of PHP info in both CLI and IIS show the same 'Loaded Configuration File', but under IIS it does not give the CURL info box. c:\program files\php\php.exe -i shows ... Loaded Configuration File => C:\Program Files\PHP\php.ini ... curl cURL support => enabled cURL Information => libcurl/7.16.0 OpenSSL/0.9.8i zlib/1.2.3 phpinfo() ... Loaded Configuration File => C:\Program Files\PHP\php.ini ... NOTE: This server also runs php 5.3 in c:\program files\php-5.3.0 and CURL does properly work with that installation.

• Post compiled php 5.4 curl installation

  I recently compiled php 5.4 from source. I have Centos 6. I used this configuration: # ./configure --with-apxs2=/usr/local/apache2/bin/apxs --with-mysql # make # make install # cp php.ini-dist /usr/local/lib/php.ini I realize now that I do not have cURL installed. I don't know how to install cURL after a compiled installation of php. Using yum install php-curl installs cURL for php 5.3. I tried this already with an apache restart and it did not show up on my phpinfo file. How do I install cURL under these circumstances?

• safeboot and wubi

  Hi, Having read various posts it seems clear that installing Wubi on a machine which already has safeboot installed with disk encryption is a non-starter at the moment - nor is repartitioning the disk it would seem. However while the c: partion is encrypted - it has an NTFS formatted q: partition that is not encrypted and has about 4GB free - so I was wondering if there was any way to install WUBI using that partion. Obvisouly stil need a means of booting into it without stuffing my safeboot booting mechanism. I'm thinking that this should be possible as the safeboot booting mechanism will get me to the boot choice options and thereafter all references in the boot.ini entry for the wubi installtion should be to files on the non-encrypted NTFS partion and so it should be OK and not attempt any changes to my envrypted c: partion (other than adding the extra entry to boot.ini) ? any thoughts? ta

  THE STORY: I've installed Apache 2.2.17 , PHP 5.2.16 , MySQL 5.5.8 . The PHP woks great, the phpinfo() works on the localhost. THE PROBLEM: The thing is that in phpinfo() there is no mysql mentionened. I've done the following: moved php.ini to C:\windows removed the ";" in front of the mysql extension line ( extension=php_mysql.dll ) copied the libmysql.dll to php folder & windows\system32 checked the extension path in php.ini to be " C:\php\ext" searched the internet for a solution for about 2 hours... ADDITIONAL INFO: In the Apache Enviorment path I have the following: C:\Program Files (x86)\PHP\;C:\Windows\system32;C:\Windows;C:\Windows\System32\Wbem;C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;C:\Program Files (x86)\QuickTime\QTSystem\;C:\OJI\MinGWStudio\work\mingw\bin;C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Binn\;C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Binn\;C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\DTS\Binn\; I think the Microsoft SQL path should be replaced with the MySQL one, but I don't know where to change that...

  Tengo un servidor con 8GB de RAM de 32 bits, instale windows server 2003 enterprise y sql server 2005 enterprise, el Sistema Operativo reconoce los 8GB, pero el Sql Server solo usaba 1.6 GB de memoria, entonces agregue al boot.ini el parametro /PAE y en Sql Server le habilite AWE de 1GB a 5GB, despues de reiniciar el servidor el Sistema que usa la BD estaba mas rapido mejoro bastante, pero en memoria el Sql Server solo usa 100 MB, veo la cantidad de memoria usada en el Administrador de Tareas de Windows, y no se si esta funcionando AWE o que sucedio?   Trying to install Vanilla 2 locally using MAMP i got the error: "You must have the MySQL driver for PDO enabled in order for Vanilla to connect to your database". When I check phpinfo() I see: --with-pdo-mysql=shared,/Applications/MAMP/Library --with-pdo-pgsql=shared,/Applications/MAMP/Library/pg When I go and check out those paths I find the files: libpq.5.dylib libpq.dylib libpq.5.2.dylib When I check my php.ini file I see: ; Extensions extension=pdo_mysql.so In php.ini the path to the extension dir is correct (checked it manually): extension_dir = "/Applications/MAMP/bin/php5.3/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20090626/" In this folder I find the file: pdo_mysql.so phpinfo() gives me two sections: PDO PDO drivers: sqlite, sqlite2 and pdo_sqlite SQLite Library: 3.6.22 So everything seems to be fine, but can't get the PDO MySQL driver working :(

• How can I create a windows shutdown script from powershell/command-line?

  I've read the TechNet pages that describe using computer/user startup/shutdown scripts, and that's great, but I'd like to create those scripts via the command-line (and not have to click around in gpedit.msc). It looks like scripts.ini and psscripts.ini in %SYSTEMROOT%\System32\GroupPolicy\Machine\Scripts specifies the scripts to run, but those don't exist until running gpedit.msc for the first time. Is it safe to create and edit those directly? Or do I need to muck around with Set-GPO or something similar? Thanks!

• Can I do a "one-time" file content search in Windows Server 2008 without adding the folder to the index?

  Can I search for files which contain a specific string in a folder if that folder is not in the search index? So, lets say folder 'textFiles' is not in the index. I navigate to this folder in windows explorer. I type '.ini' in the search box I want to see a result list containing only 'b.txt' FOLDER C:\textFiles\ FILE a.php CONTENT once twice thrice mice moose monkey FILE b.txt CONTENT mingle muddle middle.ini banana beer FILE c.spo CONTENT sellotape stapler phone book I do not have permission to add folders to the windows index and I do not have permission to install or run any executables that did not ship with the server or approved applications. • PHP Mail Relay via Remote smtp Server

  We have a php application running on Linux which sends emails to there users. Currently its setup like php.ini is configured to send via local sendmail server but we have separate mail server for our organization for this domain. I want to send the php application emails via that remote smtp server so these emails can have the correct SPF records and sign via DKIM. But I could not see such option in php.ini to specify the remote host address to forward emails to that, its for windows only. I saw some post which suggest phpMailer but I could not find how to configure that so all our php application could send via our remote SMTP.

• IIS7 IE9 PHP Errors Hidden - Error 500 - How to show detailed PHP errors?

  I scrutinized every single article that there is on the web for this one but NO JOY! I am getting the infamous error 500 after that I have installed internet explorer 9. Here is a detailed step of what I had done.... STEP 1 - Installed PHP using Web Platform installer , IIS 7 on Windows 7 x64 STEP 2 - Configured PHP.ini to display_errors so I turned that on STEP 3 - With IE8 EVERYTHING was showing up fine .... STEP 4 - When I installed IE9 .... the error 500 message came back STEP 5 - Looked into php.ini and my original settings are all still there STEP 6 - reset iis7 with iisrestart from command prompt.... • php crashes when I try to add extensions

  Hi all, I am trying to install phpmyadmin on my web server with Windows 2008 and iis 7. PHP is running fine and I have several sites that rely on it. When installing phpmyadmin - it has errors at the bottom that crypt and mbstring are not properly installed. When I try to add the php_mcrypt.dll and/or the php_mbstring.dll to the php.ini file (I verified the location and the right file through phpinfo) it crashes. I get a 500 error on all the websites, and I get an error on the server saying FastCGI has failed. Does anyone know how to fix this or why it is happening? Shouldn't I be able to add extenstions? I have the dll files in the extension folder, which is referenced in the php.ini and other extensions (installed previously) are working as expected. Other info: php version 5.2.8, pdo driver for mysql version 5.0.51a Thanks in advance!

  I upgraded my Mac with OS X Mavericks last week. It appears to have taken away support for Sqlite -- not Sqlite3, but sqlite. I need that for a website I work on. I went to Sqlite's website, but all I could find was older versions of Sqlite3. Where can I find a version of Sqlite? I've been through the php.ini and can only find one reference to sqlite. In short, how do I get Sqlite support on my Mac? I have Sqlite3 enabled and the issue isn't going away. I uncommented pdo_sqlite in the php.ini and I still have the issue.

  I've got ubuntu 10.04 installed, as well as: lighttpd mysql/php Now my problem is that my php scripts can be executed and has access to MySQL database, however I'm having problems getting php to display all errors when running. The result of a failed php run is a blank page. I tried setting the display errors on in php.ini in /etc/php5/cgi/php.ini I've also tried adding these two lines in the source to force errors on, to no avail. ini_set('display_errors', '1'); error_reporting(E_ALL); What should I do? Then, I can apply the changes to my modified file (aka diff merge). The problem is I don't know where can I find the original un-changed configuration file...

  I'm trying to use uWSGI with a virtual env in order to use the Trac bug tracker on it. I've installed system-wide uwsgi via pip. Next, I've installed trac in a virtualenv $ virtualenv venv $ . venv/bin/activate $ pip install trac I've then written a simple uWSGI configuration script: [uwsgi] master = true processes = 1 socket = localhost:3032 home = /srv/http/trac/venv/ no-site = true gid = www-data uid = www-data env = TRAC_ENV=/srv/http/trac/projects/my_project module = trac.web.main:dispatch_request But when I try to launch it, it fails: $ uwsgi --http :8000 --ini /etc/uwsgi/vassals-available/my_project.ini --gid www-data --uid www-data ... Set PythonHome to /srv/http/trac/venv/ ... *** Operational MODE: single process *** ImportError: No module named trac.web.main unable to load app 0 (mountpoint='') (callable not found or import error) I think uWSGI isn't using the virtual env. When inside the virtual env, I can import trac.web.main without having an ImportError. How can I do that ? Thanks

  I'm using IIRF and having some trouble getting it to redirect all traffic to the secure version of my sites. So... I have a website with about 20 apps in virtual directories in IIS6. The website takes 80 and 443 traffic. I want to use IIRF to redirect all port 80 traffic EG; http://myserver/app1/page1/param1 http://myserver/app2/ http://myserver To the secure equivalent (https). • php apache unknow 500 error

  I currently have an error with my apache/php installation on a centos system. I checked the log files in /var/log/httpd and in my logs directory as specified in my virtual host file, but they are not getting populated with errors. I've also set php to log errors, through the php.ini, to the /var/log/httpd/ but the error file is not getting created. When I setup the display_errors = On in the php.ini all I get is a blank screen. this is a git controlled project that is running off of an ubuntu server that works perfectly, so there is something missing from this server. My question is, is there any way I can get more info on the error that I am getting? I just need something that I can trace back. I am using a codeigniter framework, so for me to trace through the code will take days. Thanks!
