    i need to design a report that will print text on specified x,y coordinates for example, i will input (50,50), (60,60), (70,70) and i will have my program print text at those specific coordinates on the report. in total there will be about 50 different coordinates. how do i achieve this? should i be using a label control or a textbox? should i be creating the controls dynamically or should i already have controls set at the specified regions?

So, what is wrong? IMO TShape.Paint checks private value like FShape in case section and then decides what to draw. When inherited Paint method is called in my code it checks FShape value sees default 0 value [stRectangle] in there and draws it. PS: I did solve it with blackmagic way using Shape1 property instead of Shape one and if Shape1 value is not stPolygon or stStar i do like this: begin Shape := TShapeType(Shape1); inherited end; But this option is not really an option. I need a good short nice-looking one.

Leverages my knowledge of FrontPage Looks like the likely contender is Web Expressions but I'm open to objective suggestions.

However, the other open source product is licensed under MS-PL but I don't understand if that license is fully compatible with commercial software.   • Wireless ad-hoc network between Ubuntu and MS Windows

    I have setup a wireless ad-hoc connection between two laptops: one running ubuntu and the other MS XP. I have assigned static IP to both the laptops and both get connected quite easily. I can access all ubuntu services like ssh, squid, samba from the laptop running MS Windows. But from Ubuntu machine I cannot access any Windows services like shared directories etc. The Windows machine doesn't even respond to ping requests from ubuntu.

  • What would cause different rates of packet loss between client and server in UDP?

    If I've implemented a reliable UDP file transfer protocol and I have a file that deliberately drops a percentage of packets when I transmit, why would it be more evident that transmission time increases as the packet loss percentage increases going from the client to server as opposed from the server to the client? Is this something that can be explained as a result of the protocol? Here are my numbers from two separate experiments. I kept the max packet size to 500 Bytes and the opposite direction packet loss to 5% with a 1 Megabyte file: Server to Client loss Percentage varied: 1 MB file, 500 b segments, client to server loss 5% 1% : 17253 ms 3% : 3388 ms 5% : 7252 ms 10% : 6229 ms 11% : 12346 ms 13% : 11282 ms 15% : 9252 ms 20% : 11266 ms Client to Server loss percentage varied 1 MB file, 500 b segments, server to client loss 5% 1%: 4227 ms 3%: 4334 ms 5%: 3308 ms 10%: 31350 ms 11%: 36398 ms 13%: 48436 ms 15%: 65475 ms 20%: 120515 ms You can clearly see an exponential increase in the client to server group

  • Repaint() not calling paint() in Java

    Let me start off by saying I know I've violated some basic Java principles in this messy code, but I'm desperately trying to finish a program by Tuesday for a social science experiment, and I don't know Java, so I'm basically just fumbling through it for now. With that disclaimer out of the way, I have a separate program working where a circle is moving around the screen and the user must click on it. It works fine when its in its own separate class file, but when I add the code to my main program, it's no longer working. I don't even really understand why repaint() calls my paint() function — as far as I'm concerned, it's magic, but I've noticed that repaint() calls paint() in my test program, but not in the more complicated actual program, and I assume that's why the circle is no longer painting on my program.     Hi there, I've been trying to create a complete system using MS Access, but i really need to use the functionality of excel spreadsheets. I wish to do the following; when I create a record, i create a directory for that record, and copy an excel spreadsheet to that directory. The spreadsheet will be able to link to the corresponding record. So for example if I have a field 'Name' In the database record, the value of this field will show up on the excel spreadsheet. Is it possible to this?

Is it possible to create forms 'on-the fly' so to speak in MS-Access 2007 I have a structure of tables: tblCustomer tblQuestAns A customer may answer the questionnaire answers many times as they relate to all products. I propose to hopefully have an initial input form that will ask how many products of which there could be more than 1 eg: TV, Video (say the user selects 2) On entering that data the next form should hopefully update itself to include the list of questions eg TV Q1, Q2 Q3 - Video (1) Q1, Q2 Q3 - Video (2) Q1, Q2 Q3 Is that possible? Specifically, the system needs to satisfy the following: Discussion groups Project management (simple issue tracking, no complex workflows or vcs integrations) News feed for the project(s) File sharing based on authorization/user-roles Custom homepage Custom forms using MS SQL Server as a backend and contents of old forms searchable from the user interface. Now, I think [1-5] is possible using SharePoint (Comments are always welcome :)). I'm not sure about [6]. Is it possible? For instance, can an admin or a user of the SharePoint portal, create a custom form (without any programming) that uses MS SQL Server as a backend and publish it to the portal so that other users can also perform data entry? If it can be done (be it with or without some programming), can users perform text search on form data using the SharePoint interface?

  • What are the Limitations for Connecting to an Access Query in Excel

    I have an Access 2007 database that has a number of tables, some are fairly large (100,000+ records); I have created a union query to pull some of the same types of data from multiple tables into one large query for pivot table manipulation and reporting. For example: SELECT Language FROM Table1 UNION ALL SELECT Language FROM Table2 UNION ALL SELECT Language FROM Table3; This works. I found, quickly, however, that a union query will not show up when connecting to the datasource from Excel 2007. So, I created a second query to reference the union query. Like so: SELECT * FROM [The Above Union Query]; This query works and it, initially, was accessible from Excel. Time passed, I've added more data. Suddenly, when I connect to my Access database from Excel my query referencing the union has disappeared. MS Access shows no signs of an issue (data displays in Access) and my other non-union queries are showing up in Excel 2007 ... but not the one that references the union. What could be going on? Why did it disappear? I noticed if I switch some of the referenced tables in the union query to a smaller table (with less rows) all of sudden the query appears in Excel again.   • Winforms TabControl causing spurious Paint events for UserControl

    For our project, we've written a WinForms UserControl for graphing. We're seeing some strange behavior when our control is sited in a TabControl - our control continuously fires Paint events, even when there is absolutely no activity by the user. We only see this in the TabControl. When we site our control in other containers such as Forms or Splitters, Paint is only fired when you'd expect e.g. when the control is first displayed, etc. Can anyone suggest why this might be happening?   • Exceptions and Access Violations in Paint events in Windows

    After executing some new code, my C++ application started to behave strange (incorrect or incomplete screen updates, sometimes no screen updates at all). After a while we found out that the new code is causing an Access Violation. Strange enough, the application simply keeps on running (but with the incorrect screen updates). At first we thought the problem was caused by a "try-catch(...)" construction (put there by an overactive ex-colleague), but several hours later (carefully inspecting the call stacks, adding many breakpoints, ...) we found out that if there's an Access Violation in a paint event, Windows catches it, and simply continues running the application. Is this normal behavior? Is it normal that Windows catches exceptions/errors during a paint event? Is there a way to disable this? (if not, it would mean that we have to always run in the debugger with all exceptions enabled while testing our code). Patrick

This is only available in SP2, and the option should be hidden if the service pack is not installed (and of course also for users of previous versions of MS Office).   • how to call windows paint event from child thread

    If I am wrong then please correct me as I am new in this. I have one thread which display image captured from webcam on a windows created using CreateWindowEx() function. Now when i execute my program I can see that my paint code (in WindowProc()) in never reached (called InvalidateRect() from child thread to redraw), checked using breakpoint. Actually frame capture and display is being done in thread and I think because its in child thread and Window is in Main thread that is why its not able to call paint event. Can you help me on this

I've also disabled the Windows Firewall, that might of been blocking the synchronization. I've done a file scan with sfc /scannow that came back with no errors.
