    i have installed ruby 1.9.1 and when i in the command prompt type: ruby -v i see the latest version. however, in netbeans when i create a new project i can only select 1.8.7 version. how do i tell netbeans to use the latest ruby version that i have installed? thanks

    I've been having trouble with the latest netbeans ruby ide. Here is the weird behavior: "|" = my cursor some text |here I try to add a single quote. Expected: some text '|here However I get some text h'|ere It's worse when there is a linebreak: some text here | some other text here turns into some text here '| some other text here Am I hitting some weird behavior of netbeans that can be turned off for this? I mean it is insanely annoying.

    i would like to ask about some Notepad++ feature that i couldn't find in netbeans. And this feature is somehow really helpful. It's called 'function list' created by Jens Lorenz. this feature will list all of declared function in a PHP files. So, is there any subtitute plugin that i can use to smooth my migration from Notepad++ to Netbeans ? the main reason i switch is for svn, Phpdoc-support, and easiness maintaining medium-size web project.

    I am looking for a cross platform RAD IDE with GUI building. NetBeans looks right (or am aI wrong?). However, I may want to code somethings in C++ and some in Python. It looks like both are supported, but I am not sure if I need to install two copies of NetBeans or if one can handle both programming languages. Sorry it's such a st00pid n00b question - can anyone tell me quickly? Thanks

  • Netbeans configuration problem

    I am using Netbeans 6.8 The problem is that the projects explorer (that displays all the projects and their contents) displays each package as a node. For instance, if there is package hierarchy like this; com.mycompany.myproject.package1.package1.1 then it displays 5 nodes for the five packages which is very disturbing while development. Is there any way by which I can configure it(Netbeans) so that it groups all the subpackages of a package under one node and displays the subpackages only when I expand the package node?

  • Oracle Developer Day, Romania, 2012

    I'm on the way back from a great experience in Cluj, Romania: the Oracle Developer Day that was held here today. After the Oracle Developer Day in Warsaw, two days ago, I flew to Bucharest and then had to wait about 6 hours for the flight to Cluj. So I spent several of those hours in a taxi, with a very nice driver who showed me all over the place in Bucharest, such as the Palace of Parliament (according to Wikipedia, "the world's largest civilian building, most expensive administrative building, and heaviest building"): He also taught me a lot of Romanian. (My current phonetic-based vocabulary can be admired and/or ridiculed here.) Meeting Emilian Bold (third on the right below) from the NetBeans Dream Team was a definite highlight: The above shows the three speakers on the Java Track "preparing" for their sessions; me, Lukas Jungmann, and Emilian Bold. In Oracle's Gregor Rayman's keynote, this particular slide responded well to my NetBeans heart: The "Java Track" had sessions on Java EE 6, the NetBeans Platform, and Java Web Services, as well as "What's New in NetBeans IDE 7.1", where Emilian, shown in action below, outlined the NetBeans community, e.g., the NetBeans Dream Team and the NetBeans governance board. (But it was all in Romanian so I'm not really sure what was said exactly!) Finally, there was time to recover from the whole day, right before my trip back to Bucharest: All in all a great day! Looking forward to remaining in touch with the many people I met today.

    I recently talked to some NetBeans users who were interested in a demonstration of the features that will be part of NetBeans IDE 7.2. (See the 7.2 New and Noteworthy for the full list.) One of the new features I demonstrated was this one. In an interface declaration, NetBeans IDE 7.2 will provide a hint, as can be seen in the sidebar below: When the lightbulb is clicked, or Alt-Enter is pressed, this will be shown: When the hint is invoked, the user will see this: And then the user will be able to enter the name of a class, and the name of a package, and assuming the defaults above are taken, a class with this content will be generated: package demo; public class WordProcessorImpl implements WordProcessor {     @Override     public String process(String word) {         throw new UnsupportedOperationException("Not supported yet.");     } } When I demonstrated the above, the response from the audience was: "That's cool.     GeoTools 8.4 was very recently released, according to its active blog, and to celebrate here's a starting point for working with GeoTools on the NetBeans Platform: The sources of the above are below, as a Maven project, so this project can be used in any IDE or command line: http://java.net/projects/nb-api-samples/sources/api-samples/show/versions/7.3/tutorials/geospatial/geotools/MyGeospatialSystem Though quite dated, the GeoTools NetBeans Quick Start is very helpful, especially since it used Maven too, but not the NetBeans Platform, unlike the above sample. From the point of view of NetBeans Platform developers, the GeoTools JMapPane class is very useful, providing the integration point between GeoTools and the rest of the NetBeans Platform application. Being integrated into the NetBeans Platform means that a host of standard features are now available to the GeoTools features, e.g., print functionality, which only requires a runtime dependency on the NetBeans Print API, together with the "print.printable" client property put into constructor of the TopComponent: By the way, I've spent some time now and again being confused about the difference between GeoTools and GeoToolkit. Here's an interesting starting point to beginning to understand the differences and history between them. Soon I'd like to have an example similar for the above for GeoToolkit.

    hi guys, I want to install netbeans on my freeBSD7.2 machine.I followed the instructions listed in http://typo.submonkey.net/articles/2007/7/13/netbeans-on-freebsd But, when i try the third step, which is running the netbeans using "./netbeans/bin/netbeans" i found the following error "etc/netbeans.cluster" file cann't be found. What do u think could be the reason. I can't figure it out, plz help me. Thanx in advance

    Hi, I am using NetBeans 6.8 for building Spring MVC application. Techonologies : Spring MVC 2.5 Derby DB Hibernate for ORM GlassFish v3 server I use New JPA Controller Classes from Entity Classes for adding ORM file. It is supposed to generate class for managing queries with my POJO files. Problem is, that NetBeans generates following code, and won't compile : public int getBrandCount() { EntityManager em = getEntityManager(); try { CriteriaQuery cq = em.getCriteriaBuilder().createQuery(); Root<Brand> rt = cq.from(Brand.class); cq.select(em.getCriteriaBuilder().count(rt)); Query q = em.createQuery(cq); return ((Long) q.getSingleResult()).intValue(); } finally { em.close(); } } At the picture, there is NetBeans error : It looks like method getCriteriaBuilder of Entity Manager Interface is unimplemented. Or some other reason why I can't use it in code. I don't know what other info should I provide, so please ask if anything comes to your mind. Thanks

  • Problem connecting to Apache Derby using Hibernate configuration file in Netbeans (ERROR XSDB6)

    I've created a local Apache Derby database in Netbeans, but am having problems when I try and autogenerate the POJO files, using the "Hibernate Reverse Engineering Wizard". Caused by: java.sql.SQLException: Failed to start database 'C:/CerealDatabase', see the next exception for details. Caused by: ERROR XSDB6: Another instance of Derby may have already booted the database C:\CerealDatabase. I've closed any other connections to the database before trying this, and there is no "db.lck" lock file at the time, which indicates there are no connections to the database as I understand it. Does anyone have any ideas? Help gratefully received.

  • Web Start Application built on NetBeans Platform doesn't create desktop shortcut & start menu item

    I've created a NetBeans Platform application that is launched using Java Web Start. I built the WAR file using the 'Build JNLP Application'-command in Netbeans. I've added a desktop shortcut and menu item to the JNLP file, but for some reason, these are not created when the application is launched. However, when I go to: Control Panel - Java - Temporary Internet Files - View - Select my application Click 'Install shortcuts to the selected application' the desktop and menu shortcuts are created correctly. Also, in the Java Console, the Shortcut Creation option is set to the following (the default, I presume): Prompt user if hinted Below is a snippet of my JNLP file: <jnlp spec="6.0+" codebase="$$codebase"> <information> <title>${app.title}</title> <vendor>SomeVendor (Pty) Ltd</vendor> <description>Some description</description> <icon href="${app.icon}"/> <shortcut online="true"> <desktop/> <menu submenu="MyApp"/> </shortcut> </information> ... I'm stumped. Does anybody have an explanation for this? Thanks PS This is on both Windows XP and Windows 7. NetBeans version: 6.8

  • NetBeans parameter fill after code completion

    This is a particularly annoying problem I'm having, and I can't be the only one to have issue with it. In NetBeans, when you type part of a method, then hit CTRL-SPACE, it displays the code-completion popup, whereupon you can hit tab to finish out the word. This is great, and pretty much how all IDE's operate. Example: Thread.sl < CTRL-SPACE Thread.sleep Yay! Problem is that in this context, once you type in a paren, it auto-fills the parameters for the method with their default names, and inserts a closing paren (regardless of whether you have disabled the option to automatically close them on the preferences page for code completion). This behavior is NOT present if you had manually typed out the full name. How is this helpful to anyone? You've got to type over it your actual variable that you will be passing, and NetBeans gives you no option to prevent the closing paren on code-completion. Does anyone have a way to solve this issue, without having to dive into the netbeans source and build it just for this minor of an issue?

  • Can plugins loaded with MEF resolve their own internal dependencies with the same MEF container for

    From my experimentation, I think the answer is "kind of", but I could have made a mistake. I have an application that loads appliance plugins with MEF. That part is working fine. Now let's say that my BlenderAppliance wants to resolve several of its dependencies with MEF, which each implement IApplianceFeature. I've just used the ImportMany attribute to my plugin. I made sure to create the plugin using MEF so that the Imports work properly. I said "kind of" because some of the plugin's internals (i.e. the model) are loading with MEF just fine, but the IApplianceFeatures aren't. The difference here is that the IApplianceFeatures are themselves, assemblies. And at the moment, they are in one folder above that of the plugin itself, i.e. + application folder | IApplianceFeature1.dll | IApplianceFeature2.dll +---+ plugin folder | BlenderAppliance.dll Now if my application uses an AggregateCatalog to load the "." and ".\plugins" folders, why doesn't it ever load the IApplianceFeature assemblies for me? Is it possible / advisable to have the plugin create its own MEF container to resolve its dependencies, or does really nasty stuff happen? If you have any stories about this scenario, please share. :)

    i just got some more questions while learning PHP, does php implement any built in plugin system? so the plugin would be able to change the behavior of the core component. for example something like this works: include 'core.class.php'; include 'plugin1.class.php'; include 'plugin2.class.php'; new plugin2; where core.class.php contains class core { public function coremethod1(){ echo 'coremethod1'; } public function coremethod2(){ echo 'coremethod2'; } } plugin1.class.php contains class plugin1 extends core { public function coremethod1(){ echo 'plugin1method1'; } } plugin2.class.php contains class plugin2 extends plugin1 { public function coremethod2(){ echo 'plugin2method2'; } } This would be ideal, if not for the problem that now the plugins are dependable on each other, and removing one of the plugins: include 'core.class.php'; //include 'plugin1.class.php'; include 'plugin2.class.php'; new plugin2; breaks the whole thing... are there any proper methods to doing this? if there are not, them i might consider moving to a different langauge that supports this... thanks for any help.

    I've written a few jquery plugins for my client. I want to write a function which would initialize each plugin which have been loaded. Plugin1 should be attached to all links with class name 'ajax' and plugin2 to all divs with class name 'test2': $('document').ready(function(){ $('a.ajax').plugin1(); $('div.test2').plugin2(); } I know that I can use jQuery().pluginName to check if a plugin exists. But I want to have a leaner way. Can all loaded plugins register a initialize function in an array or something like that which I in document.ready can iterate through and invoke? like: //in plugin1.js myCustomPlugins['plugin1'] = function() { $('a.ajax').plugin1(); }; // and in the initializer script: myCustomPlugins.each(function() { this(); }; Guess it all boiled down to three questions: How do I use a jquery "global" array? How do I iterate through that array to invoke registered methods Are there a better approach?

  • Easy Profiling Point Insertion

    One really excellent feature of NetBeans IDE is its Profiler. What's especially cool is that you can analyze code fragments, that is, you can right-click in a Java file and then choose Profiling | Insert Profiling Point. When you do that, you're able to analyze code fragments, i.e., from one statement to another statement, e.g., how long a particular piece of code takes to execute: https://netbeans.org/kb/docs/java/profiler-profilingpoints.html However, right-clicking a Java file and then going all the way down a longish list of menu items, to find "Profiling", and then "Insert Profiling Point" is a lot less easy than right-clicking in the sidebar (known as the glyphgutter) and then setting a profiling point in exactly the same way as a breakpoint: That's much easier and more intuitive and makes it far more likely that I'll use the Profiler at all. Once profiling points have been set then, as always, another menu item is added for managing the profiling point: To achieve this, I added the following to the "layer.xml" file: <folder name="Editors"> <folder name="AnnotationTypes"> <file name="profiler.xml" url="profiler.xml"/> <folder name="ProfilerActions"> <file name="org-netbeans-modules-profiler-ppoints-ui-InsertProfilingPointAction.shadow"> <attr name="originalFile" stringvalue="Actions/Profile/org-netbeans-modules-profiler-ppoints-ui-InsertProfilingPointAction.instance"/> <attr name="position" intvalue="300"/> </file> </folder> </folder> </folder> Notice that a "profiler.xml" file is referred to in the above, in the same location as where the "layer.xml" file is found. But that's true for the debugger too, i.e., there's no MIME type specific glyphgutter, instead, it is shared by all MIME types. Little bit confusing that the profiler point insertion can now, in theory, be set for all MIME types, but that's also true for the debugger, even though it doesn't apply to all MIME types. That probably explains why the profiling point insertion can only be done, officially, from the right-click popup menu of Java files, i.e., the developers wanted to avoid confusion and make it available to Java files only. However, I think that, since I'm already aware that I can't set the Java debugger in an HTML file, I'm also aware that the Java profiler can't be set that way as well.   • How to force reload all vendor/plugins in rails 2.3 (development mode)

    We have an application with a app/model that references another model stored in a plugin. When the app/model level is reloaded on the second and further requests and that relies on our model in vendor/plugins/... (which stays loaded) it fails (can't dup nil class). We've tried setting config.reload_plugins = true in the development.rb but this doesn't seem to do it. Does anybody know a way to handle this?
