• I can't install Ubuntu 12.04.1 on iMac G5

  So, I have this iMac G5 that doesn't have iSight, only a small light sensor I think undernieth, machine model 8.2. I tried burning a Ubuntu 12.04.1 PowerPC 64bit .iso to a cd but the computer just won't boot it, I don't know why. Next I tried with a USB but it wouldn't let me boot that either, I created the usb on my dad's win7 laptop as the process was way easier than on freakin Mac or Ubuntu (no command typing AT ALL on windows) I'm able to get into openfirmware and type boot usb and it does show some weird writing that scrolls so fast I can't see anything and then it just gives me this huge no sign like a stop sign and freezez. The sign is grey and the line in the middle is tilted towards the left. An other issue I'm having with hdiutil is that I can't convert the stupid .iso I just downloaded into a .img because the file keeps on dissapearing right when it's done converting it. I used the syntax from Ubuntu support how to create a bootable usb drive under Mac OS X. I even didn't include the 2 stupid ~ that are shown in the syntax that are completly worthless, God only know why they put them there, and I even tried running the whole thing as root with sudo su before the command. The funny thing is that if I convert something smaller it works. The command I was using is hdiutil convert -format UDRW -o /path/to/target.img /path/to/ubuntu.iso I even tried hdiutil convert /path/to/ubuntu.iso -format UDRW -o /path/to/target.img but the same thing happens, the dummy .img.dmg file dissapears when the conversion is done no matter where I set the output file to go. I have tried several different folders, the same thing happens with all of them. I also tried burning a Ubuntu mini iso on a cd, can't remember if it was 11.10 or 12.10 but even thoguh holding c when the iMac boots up does show me the cd and I can boot from it, I get this weird error upon hitting install, it says something like invalid memory access, release keys and error strings I can't read. I don't have any original DVDs from this iMac and can't run hardware diagnostics. WHatever option I try at the command prompt from the mini ubuntu cd I get the same result, error code and openfirmware backdrop that's frozen. I noticed that the pen drive I created on my dads Win7 laptop is formated with MS-DOS but I can still mount it no problem, so it shouldn't have a problem booting it, right? I used the advice on ubuntu.com to make it, from here. Also, my partition is HFS+ so I can't use it as a hard drive and boot from it. I don' have 2 partitions either, just one HDD, one partition. Please help!!!

• Wireframing: A Day In the Life of UX Workshop at Oracle

  The Oracle Applications User Experience team's Day in the Life (DITL) of User Experience (UX) event was run in Oracle's Redwood Shores HQ for Oracle Usability Advisory Board (OUAB) members. I was charged with putting together a wireframing session, together with Director of Financial Applications User Experience, Scott Robinson (@scottrobinson). Example of stunning new wireframing visuals we used on the DITL events. We put on a lively show, explaining the basics of wireframing, the concepts, what it is and isn't, considerations on wireframing tool choice, and then imparting some tips and best practices. But the real energy came when the OUAB customers and partners in the room were challenge to do some wireframing of their own. Wireframing is about bringing your business and product use cases to life in real UX visual terms, by creating a low-fidelity drawing to iterate and agree on in advance of prototyping and coding what is to be finally built and rolled out for users. All the best people wireframe. Leonardo da Vinci used "cartoons" on some great works, tracing outlines first and using red ochre or charcoal dropped through holes in the tracing parchment onto the canvas to outline the subject. (Image distributed under Wikimedia commons license) Wireframing an application's user experience design enables you to: Obtain stakeholder buy-in. Enable faster iteration of different designs. Determine the task flow navigation paths (in Oracle Fusion Applications navigation is linked with user roles). Develop a content strategy (readability, search engine optimization (SEO) of content, and so on) Lay out the pages, widgets, groups of features, and so on. Apply usability heuristics early (no replacement for usability testing, but a great way to do some heavy-lifting up front). Decide upstream which functional user experience design patterns to apply (out of the box solutions that expedite productivity). Assess which Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF) or equivalent technology components can be used (again, developer productivity is enhanced downstream). We ran a lively hands-on exercise where teams wireframed a choice of application scenarios using the time-honored tools of pen and paper. Scott worked the floor like a pro, pointing out great use of features, best practices, innovations, and making sure that the whole concept of wireframing, the gestalt, transferred. "We need more buttons!" The cry of the energized. Not quite. The winning wireframe session (online shopping scenario) from the Applications UX DITL event shown. Great fun, great energy, and great teamwork were evident in the room. Naturally, there were prizes for the best wireframe. Well, actually, prizes were handed out to the other attendees too! An exciting, slightly different aspect to delivery of this session made the wireframing event one of the highlights of the day. And definitely, something we will repeat again when we get the chance. • Ask the Readers: Which Browser is a Must-Have for You on Linux?

  Linux systems all come with their own particular set of default browsers, but those browsers may not be the ones you want or need. This week we would like to know which browser (or browsers) are considered “must-have” on your Linux systems. As a general rule many Linux distributions have Firefox and/or Konqueror as one of the default installation browsers. During this past year the open source browser Chromium has also been gaining a lot of traction as a default install for systems. For most people these browsers are the ones that they like best or feel work well enough to not make any changes. But there are other people who want more than what is available with a default system install. They may favor a particular browser for its’ extensibility or speed…others prefer a particular browser for its’ features or minimalist UI. Whatever your preferences may be, there is a browser out there to fit your style. Some people may even prefer to run only bleeding edge nightly releases or add them in with their current browsers. The important part is that you have choices when it comes to your Linux system. What we would like to know this week is which browser or browsers you make sure are always installed on your Linux systems. Does the Linux system you use already have your favorite browser installed as part of the default set? Maybe you are content with using the default set of browsers that come with the system. Or perhaps you prefer to rework the entire browser setup on your system by removing the defaults and adding your favorites. • Innovation for Retailers

  One of my main objectives for this blog is to point out emerging technologies and how they might apply to the retail industry.  But ideas are just the beginning; retailers either have to rely on vendors or have their own lab to explore these ideas and see which ones work.  (A healthy dose of both is probably the best solution.)  The Nordstrom Innovation Lab is a fine example of dedicating resources to cultivate ideas and test prototypes. The video below, from 2011, is a case study in which the team builds an iPad app that helps customers purchase sunglasses in the store.  Customers take pictures of themselves wearing different sunglasses, then can do side-by-side comparisons. There are a few interesting take-aways from their process.  First, they are working in the store alongside employees and customers.  There's no concept of documenting all the requirements then building the product.  Instead, they work closely with those that will be using the app in order to fully understand what's needed.  When they find an issue, they change the software onsite and try again.  This iterative prototyping ensures their product hits the mark.  Feels like Extreme Programming if you recall that movement. Second, they have time-boxed the project to one week.  Either it works or it doesn't, and either way they've only expended a week's worth of resources.  Innovation always entails failure, and those that succeed are often good at detecting failure quickly then adjusting.  Fail fast and fail often. Third, its not always about technology.  I was impressed they used paper designs to walk through user stories and help understand the needs of the customer.  Pen and paper is the innovator's most powerful tool. Our Retail Applied Research (RAR) team uses some of these concepts in our development process.  (Calling it a process is probably overkill.)  We try to give life to concepts quickly so the rest of organization can help us decide if we're heading the right direction.  It takes many failures before finding a successful product.

• Problem with DualBooting Ubuntu 13.10 and Win7

  this is my first post here on AskUbuntu, not first time using it though. I wanted to install Ubuntu 13.10 on my PC to have all my work stuff there and leave Win7 for gaming. So i did my research on how to Dual Boot when you already have Win7 installed, here are the steps i took Used Disk Management on Win7 and shrunk that partition, leaving 80GB free for Ubuntu. Made a Bootable pendrive following the instructions on Ubuntu`s website. During the installation steps there was supposed to be a Install alongside Win7, but there wasnt, so i chose Something else. Everything was fine and i was able to install Ubuntu no problem on my unallocated 80GB partition (76GB Ubuntu + 4GB swap) There was a prompt for me to restart my PC and so I did expecting to see the dual boot screen (grub right?) Now, when i restarted my PC, Grub never showed up and it booted straight to Windows. Then I did some more research and found out that that could happen. Tried three things then Plugging in bootable pendrive again and selected Try Ubuntu without installing. Then i followed some instructions found here (How can I repair grub? (How to get Ubuntu back after installing Windows?)) and i could chroot into my Ubuntu install just fine. Repaired grub as instructed on that link, restarted the PC and booted straight into Win7 again. Again, used the bootable pen drive to Try Ubuntu... and used the Boot-repair tool (recommended repair). Again, booted straight into Win7. Lastly, i installed easyBCD on my Win7 and made a new entry for Ubuntu (Linux/BSD). When i rebooted the PC, there was the option to choose between Win7 and Linux, chose linux and it didnt work, taking me straight to a command line-like enviroment that read Minimum bash like scripting or something, as if I didn`t have a Linux OS installed. So, I thought I`d try and repair my Ubuntu install. And during the Installation method step there was the choice to install alongside Ubuntu 13.10! and that right there drove me crazy. Here is a screenshot of gparted showing how things are set up now http://imageshack.us/f/801/77u3.png/ Notice on the left-hand side how i can access my installation files just fine. sdb1- win7 reserved space, sdb2- win7 OS, sdb3- 76GB ubuntu install, sdb5- 4GB swap area. • Random software/shutdown problems Mac mini

  Hello I have a Mac mini using OS X 10.5.8. Recently I've been having problems that are becoming increasingly severe. Particular symptoms: Firefox "quits" but the dot on the dock remains. If I try shutting down at this point I can't and have to use the power button. I can't start Firefox either. Significantly higher than normal crash rate for CS4 Illustrator Photoshop and Dreamweaver. If Firefox remains open when sleeping the Mac, on waking up firefox is completely unresponsive and must be restarted. Can cause problem 1. Today I lost all my FTP settings for Dreamweaver CS4 Bluetooth switches on when booting despite being switched off. Network password retention is somewhat erractic. Tried running Apple Hardware Test as described in the manual. Cannot access install disk by pressing D at startup. My pen tablet (Bamboo) lost my preferences. Tried unstalling software and now cannot re-install. I've never had problems of this level outside warranty before so I don't know much about debugging Macs. Solutions attempted: Disable bluetooth (see problem 5) Disable time machine Run appple harware test (see problem 7) Tried using activity monitor but don't know which processes are normal Tried uninstalling more recent software. I don't have any idea what to do. It seems like a hard disk failure but I don't have the know how to continue.

• Kickstart installation from USB -- Kickstart location

  After managing to get a Fedora ISO to rebuild successfully (for a USB stick) after adding a kickstart file (http://serverfault.com/questions/548405/), I now have an issue with locating the kickstart file on the USB media. When this is done from a CDROM you can simply kickckstart by adding this parameter to boot: linux ks=cdrom This will kickstart (providing the kickstart file is named ks.cfg and is in the root of the disk). Now, obviously this will be different for the USB drive, so from my research, I assumed that this line would do the job: linux ks=hd:sdb1:/ks.cfg Evidently this does not work. I get an error informing me this drive is already mounted and cannot be remounted. EDIT: Actual error message: mount: /dev/sdb1 is already mounted or /run/install/tmpmnt0 busy Warning: Can't get kickstart from /dev/sdb1:/ks.cfg To test that the syntax was correct I placed the kickstart file on another USB stick and loaded the same command to grab ks.cfg from the new location: linux ks=hd:sdc1:/ks.cfg This does work (providing USB sticks are mounted in order, boot - sdb1, kickstart - sdc1). The install will kickstart and complete the install with no issue. Obviously having to use 2 pen drives is somewhat frustrating and unreliable. Is there a way around this?

• Strange performance differences in read/write from/to USB flash drive

  When copying files from my 8GB USB 2.0 flash drive with Windows 7 to a traditional hard drive, the average speed is between 25 and 30 MB/s. When doing the reverse, copying to the USB drive, the speed is 5MB/s average. I have tested this with about 4.5GB of files, a mixture of smaller and larger ones. The observations were the same on both FAT32 and exFAT file systems on the USB drive, NTFS on the internal hard disk. I don't think I can be mistaken in saying that flash memory has a lot higher performance than a spinning hard drive in both terms of reading and writing. For both memory types, reading should be faster than writing too. Now I wonder, how can it be that copying files from a fast read memory to a faster write memory is actually slower than copying files from a fast read memory to a slow write memory? I think that the files are stored in RAM before being copied over too, and there's caching as well, but I don't see how even that could tip the balance. It can only be in the advantage of writing to the USB drive, since it is "closer" to the SATA system than the USB port and it will receive data from the internal SATA HDD faster. Perhaps my way of thinking is all wrong or it just depends on the manufacturer of the USB pen. But I am curious.

• No OS will boot, all freeze

  This is for a computer with the following configuration: Asus P5KPL-AM/PS motherboard Pentium D 820 (dual core 2.8 GHz) 1 x 2 GB DDR2-800 Transcend RAM 1 SATA2 Samsung 160 GB HDD 1 PATA LG CD/DVD Writer PS/2 generic Keyboard USB Razer mouse The computer was working fine till a month ago with a Hitachi HDD in place of the Samsung. But that drive died and I sent it in for warranty replacement. Since then and till last week, the computer had not been turned on. I then got hold of a spare but XPSP2-loaded Samsung drive from another computer and decided to get this computer temporarily running. However, when I tried to boot into XP, it didn't load. It got stuck at the first graphical screen. When trying Safe Mode, the file list would be updated up to diskio.sys and then freeze. If I tried to boot Kubuntu off a CD, I would get past the first menu, but then get stuck at the subsequent graphical interface in the loading process. A similar thing happend with a friend's Windows XP-on-a-pen-drive. I switched the RAM into the other slot, but no luck. Then I booted the Ultimate Boot CD and ran Memtest86+ and a couple of the bundled CPU stress tests but these detected no errors. Some searching on the Internet brought up the notion of the CPU failing to switch from "real" to "protected mode". I'm hoping to get a fix on what the problem is and what I can do about it. Edit: I've flashed to the latest BIOS, but that doesn't help. Also, Knoppix LiveCD also freezes. I notice that the LED in my mouse goes off at the time of freeze, but trying to boot without the mouse connected produces the same result.

• Rebuild Fedora 19 ISO adding Kickstart for USB install

  I am attempting to edit a Fedora 19 DVD ISO to add a kickstart file. I then need this ISO burnt to a USB stick for instillation. The error I get when booting is Warning: Could not boot. Warning: /dev/root does not exist To try and determine which part of the process is failing I have broken the process down in to separate stages. Step 1: Burn the original ISO "Fedora-19-x86_64-DVD.iso" (Available - here) to a pendrive and see if that will install. dd if=/path/to/iso of=/dev/sdc Burning this image was successful and it installed without issue. Step 2: Exctract the ISO, repackage it and burn it to a pendrive and see if that will install. PLEASE NOTE: The final command in this section has been broken down in to multiple lines for ease of reading, in fact it was run as a single command on one line. mkdir -p /mnt/linux mount -o loop /tmp/linux-install.iso /mnt/linux cd /mnt/ tar -cvf - linux | (cd /var/tmp/ && tar -xf - ) cd /var/tmp/linux xorriso -as mkisofs -R -J -V "NewFedoraImage" -o ouput/file.iso -b isolinux/isolinux.bin -c isolinux/boot.cat -no-emul-boot -boot-load-size 4 -boot-info-table -isohybrid-mbr /usr/share/syslinux/isohdpfx.bin . This iso was then burnt to a pendrive as before. dd if=/path/to/iso of=/dev/sdc This ISO burnt to the pen drive with no problem and will boot. I then see the fedora options screen. After choosing either "Install Fedora 19" or "Test this media & install Fedora 19" I then receive the errors highlighted above. This means the kickstart file is not to blame, but repackaging the ISO. Is there something I am missing in the repackaging process? Any input would be great! NOTE: If it is of any help, I attempted Step 2 with an Ubuntu server ISO and the process was successful.

• Why my internal hard disk can be ejected?

  I have 6 hard disks in my computer and one DVD. The disk that I connect to the 6th SATA port is a regular disk. But my Windows 7 64 bit shows it as a removable drive. I can eject my hard disk! Just like a pen drive. If I connect another disk to the 6th port, I can eject that disk too. So it has nothing to do with the physical disk, it must be something related to Windows or BIOS I don't understand why Windows 7 is seeing a normal hard disk as removable. In Computer Management - Disk Management, the disk looks identical to the others - there is nothing there to suggest the drive is different from the others. But in the tray I have the icon to eject it. The motherboard model is ASUS F2A85 V PRO FM2. All the disks are formatted normally, no Dynamic Disk, no RAID, nothing special. How can I tell Windows 7 to treat the disk exactly like the others, so it can't be ejected?

• Automatic o/s reset on a dedicated internet browsing Windows 7 pc.

  I have just purchased a new Acer Revo nettop PC for dedicated internet browsing. It will be the only pc on a home network. My original plan was to install one virtual PC for family browsing, another for remote web based server administration and ban browser use from the host Windows 7 o/s. The idea was that I could recover to a fresh VHD image once a week to eliminate any build up of malware inside the browser VMs. However now I am looking for alternative solutions since the Intel Atom cpu does not have hardware VT support which Windows Virtual PC requires. Would it be possible to engineer some type of routine overnight host o/s wipe and recovery? I guess cyber cafes do something like this? The only user data that would need to be retained across a recovery would be browser bookmarks but these could be exported to remote service. Edit 1: I am thinking the o/s reset could be done via some disk image recovery process. Edit 2: Just had a brainwave. Routine browsing could be done via the new Google Chrome O/S. I have just seen a video of the Google Chrome o/s booting off a usb pen drive in seconds.

• dell latitude XT touch screen issue

  yesterday I installed windows 7 ultimate after I had the enterprise version on this machine for a few months. the installation went smoothly and everything worked fine except for the finger detection of the screen(only the pen worked) and the bottom screen buttons for rotating and so. so I started to install all the missing drivers dell recommends for this model on their site, but once I tried to install N-Trig degitizer driver the installation said it was unsuccessful and since then the touch stopped working completely! I tried system restore but it didn't help so I went on and formatted the harddisk completely once again and installed windows but that didn't work either. I tried to install the N-Trig's driver but it was alarting for a fatal error and said that no device was detected. same story with N-Trig rollback. so I checked the device manager and saw an "unknown device" with VID and PID values set as 0000. I figured the N-Trig driver might have messed with the device firmware or something and now it doesnt know it's ID and munufactor... Is there anything that can be done? like forcing the N-Trig driver to install on this device or something? please help!

• Acer Aspire Touchscreen Not Responding

  I have an Acer Aspire z3101 all-in-one Touch screen running Windows 7 Home Premium. I am unable to get the screen to respond to my touch. I have checked the system and all drivers are ok according to comp. Using the settings to setup the pen and touch and to calibrate does not work. My touch brings no response at all. I had reinstalled the applications - Windows Touch Pack and Acer Touch Portal which didn't help. Today I done a complete reinstall returning comp back to factory settings and still there is no response. At first I thought that perhaps a driver or file was missing but now doubt that due to the reinstall not helping. Have you any idea what could be causing this problem? I am now at the stage of pulling my hair out and haven't had too much help from Acer. I have had the computer for just over a year now and so it is no longer under guarantee and this has me very worried due to my being unemployed. Any help is much appreciated. Thank you.

• How do I disable tablet gestures in windows 8?

  I'm using a Wacom Intuos4 and I have recently upgraded to Windows 8. I don't have a problem when using Photoshop however I occasionally draw on flash based online boards. The problem is, when I drag the pen in a direction repetitively (which is basically all I do when drawing) it's detected as a gesture, sometimes causing Chrome to go to the previous page (left drag) and making me lose the entire thing. Is there a way to disable these "gestures"? I believe this is not something caused by Windows 8 (or Charms) because I run Windows in English although it's not the initial language that Windows was installed in. I changed to English long after the installation. When Windows takes a move as a gesture, a small text pops up next to the cursor informing me about what I have just done and those pop ups are not even in English. I'm sorry for failing to be any more specific here but these gestures could be a feature of either Windows (unlikely), the tablet, Chrome or the computer itself. It's an Acer Aspire and it has one of those little stickers on it that specifies some of the features and one of them reads "Multi-Gesture" (referring to the touchpad, I guess). Could it be that this Multi-Gesture feature somehow decided to expand and apply for my tablet as well? If so, how do I disable it?

  I'm a Linux user but I keep a compressed Windows XP ISO with me on a pen drive for the case I absolutely need Windows to do something. This works in VirtualBox most of the time. But now I want to play some games, so I would like to run the Windows image natively. My computer don't have CD drive so cannot just burn the ISO and make an install normally. What I trying to do is moving the installed Windows image to a physical NTFS partition on my HDD and set up GRUB to let me dual boot it. I found many tutorials that deal with making VDI to physical drive. But they assume I want to overwrite my entire drive. Moving the raw disk image with dd to the partition resulted in a corrupt partition. I also tried the VMDK trick to use that empty partition and install the Windows on it. Although the text mode phase of the installation finishes without problems, the VM won't work, either crashes and keeps rebooting or just immediately or freezes (depending on how I created the VMDK, with -rawdisk /dev/sda3 or -rawdisk /dev/sda -partition 3).

• Ubuntu loading stops ?

  I don't know why, or how... but my ubuntu's loading / booting stops right after the ubuntu logo appearing.. An underscore appears in the right top of the screen: _ then, it disappears leaving the whole screen black Version is 9.10 ,Kernel is .20 I have tryed recovering mode and selected recover damaged packages option, but it didn't do any good.. I have very important files in Ubuntu that I need to copy to a pen drive or something, today.. The terminal mode is working, so i think i can do this there.. My questions: How can I get my Ubuntu to load? Is it possible to copy the files i need via terminal mode? I dont know if with other of the previous kernels it would work... but I had configured my grub (inside Ubuntu's gui) to show only the last kernel... and now i can't select any other kernel then .20 because I don't know a way to configure Grub unless via Ubuntu's gui... My hardware: ATI Mobility Radeon 4650 HD P7450 2.13Ghz Core duo 4Gb DDR2

But I need raw byte copy, so pixels with alpha == 0 are also copied. So the result of these operations should be that e.Graphics contains exact byte-copy of the bitmap. How to do that? Summary: When drawing a bitmap, I don't want to apply the alpha channel, I merely want to copy the pixels.

• Unhandled Exception with c++ app on Visual Studio 2008 release build - occurs when returning from fu

  Hi, I have a (rather large) application that I have written in C++ and until recently it has been running fine outside of visual studio from the release build. However, now, whenever I run it it says "Unhandled exception at 0x77cf205b in myprog.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation writing location 0x45000200.", and leads me to "crtexe.c" at line 582 ("mainret = main(argc, argv, envp);") if I attempt to debug it. Note that this problem never shows if I run my debug executable outside of visual studio, or if I run my debug or release build within visual studio. It only happens when running the release build outside of visual studio. I have been through and put plenty of printfs and a couple of while(1)s in it to see when it actually crashed, and found that the access violation occurs at exactly the point that the value is returned from the function (I'm returning a pointer to an object). I don't fully understand why I would get an access violation at the point it returns, and it doesn't seem to matter what I'm returning as it still occurs when I return 0. The point it started crashing was when I added a function which does a lot of reading from a file using ifstream. I am opening the stream every time I attempt to read a new file and close it when I finish reading it. If I keep attempting to run it, it will run once in about 20 tries. It seems a lot more reliable if I run it off my pen drive (it seems to crash the first 3 or 4 times then run fine after that - maybe it's due to its slower read speed). • After drawing circles on C# form how can i know on what circle i clicked?

  I have to represent graphically an oriented graph like in the image below. i have a C# form, when i click with the mouse on it i have to draw a node. If i click somewhere on the form where is not already a node drawn it means i cliked with the intetion of drawing a node, if it is a node there i must select it and memorize it. • Remove padding in wxPython's wxWizard

  Hi Guys, I'm using wxPython to create a wizard using the wxWizard control. I'm trying to a draw a colored rectangle but when I run the app, there seems to be a about a 10px padding on each side of the rectangle. This goes for all other controls too. I have to offset them a bit so that they appear exactly where I want them to. Is there any way I could remove this padding? • jQuery "growl-like" effect in VB.net

If i have more than one call to the form to display a "Growl" then it just refreshes the same form with whatever call i send it. In other words, i can only display one form at a time instead of having one drop down and a new one appear above it. • image appears larger than bounding rectangle?

  Hello I'm implementing a custom print preview control. One of the objects it needs to display is an image which can be several pages high and wide. I've successfully divided the image into pages and displayed them in the correct order. Each "page" is drawn within the marginbounds. (That is, each page is sized to be the same as the marginBounds.) The problem I have is that the image the page represents exceeds the bottom margin. However if I draw a rectangle with the same dimensions as the image, at the same position as the image, the rectangle matches the marginbounds. Thus when drawn to the page (in print preview and printed page) the image is larger than a rectangle drawn based on the image dimensions. I.e. The image is drawn at the same size as e.MarignBounds and is drawn at e.MarginBounds.Location yet exceeds the bottom margin. How is this? • wxpython: adding panel to wx.Frame disables/conflicts with wx.Frame's OnPaint?!

  Hi all, I just encountered this strange situation: I found an example, where wx.Frame's OnPaint is overridden, and a circle is drawn. Funnily, as soon as I add even a single panel to the frame, the circle is not drawn anymore - in fact, OnPaint is not called at all anymore ! Can anyone explain me if this is the expected behavior, and how to correctly handle a wx.Frame's OnPaint, if the wx.Frame has child panels ? Small code example is below..
