• Remote Desktop from Mac to Windows (Microphone, Sounds must work)

  I have a laptop that is running Windows 7. I want to remotely connect to it using my 27" iMac. I was using an app called "Jump Desktop" and I really like it. The only problem is that I cannot use Skype, GoToMeeting, etc... because the microphone doesn't work remotely. Any recommendations on other apps that support remote mic/sound? In other works I want to use solely my iMac, remote into my Windows 7 laptop, use skype, etc.... on the laptop. Thanks

I need to do remote work with a client and because they know absolutely nothing they walked out of Best Buy with an ARM laptop that can't run jack. It must be freeware. It must be compatible with both x86/win7 and ARM/fail8 versions of Windows. It must be able to have something the first time it comes up that the user can tell me and I know how to connect to their computer (simple like Ammyy Admin). • Can't Remote Desktop to server after rebooting via Remote Desktop

  When I reboot a Windows 2003 or Windows 2008 server via a Remote Desktop connection, the server comes back up and will not accept any RDP connections: the RDP client errors out with "Connection Refused." The Terminal Services service is running on the server and restarting it has no effect. No errors are logged on the server. The only way I've found to fix this is to login at the console or via the DRAC and reboot the machine again, which is an ugly solution for obvious reasons. Has anyone run into this before?

  Hello, I want to forward a port from my remote vps to my domestic server and I am quite a newbie with iptables. The problem is that I am using a dynamic dns service to reach my home server from the internet so I don't have a fixed ip and iptables doesn't like urls. The rules I am willing to use are these: -t nat -A PREROUTING -p tcp -i eth0 -d xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx --dport 8888 -j DNAT --to myhome.tld:80 -A FORWARD -p tcp -i eth0 -d myhome.tld --dport 80 -j ACCEPT Of course I recevie a Error BAD IP ADDRESS because of myhome.tld. What can I do?

• Spring MVC jQuery remote validation

  Hi, I am using Spring MVC on the server side, but in one of the pages I decided to create an AJAX validation with jQuery rather than the default Spring validation. Everything works great, except when I have to do a remote validation to check if a "title" already exists. • Sending microphone input over Remote Desktop 7.0

  I am using Remote Desktop 7 (the new version that came out with Windows 7) to control a Windows XP Pro machine. I have selected "Record from this computer" in the Remote Audio settings. When I connect to the machine, go to the control panel, open the sound panel, and go to the audio tab, I find that the default sound playback device is "Microsoft RDP Audio Driver". However, there is no default sound recording device. As expected, my IP phone thinks there is no recording device. If I am sitting in front of the computer with a mic plugged in, it works just fine. Has anybody else been able to get this work appropriately? Is there anything that I have to setup on the XP machine to get this working? Thanks in advance. Edit: As John T pointed out below, you have to be connecting to a Windows 7 Enterprise or Ultimate machine for this to work. I've also found out that Multi-monitor support has the same requirement.

• Windows Server 2008 Remote Desktop printing blank pages

  I have a Windows Server 2008 (not R2) machine which has problems with redirected printing. Clients connecting via Remote Desktop have their printers redirected and appearing for them to print to, but printing from applications on the server to local printers is giving blank pages, missing pages, or pages with headers/footers but no middle section. The issues are consistant for similar prints, but sometimes other prints and/or applications will work correctly. I have installed PDFCreator locally on the server, and the same print jobs sent by the same application appear correctly in the PDFs. Printing that PDF via the redirected printer prints correctly. I have tried the following: Installing drivers. I’ve installed several drivers different drivers, for both the client and server operating system and architecture, on the client and the server. Reinstalling the printers. I’ve tried reinstalling on remote print servers, the clients, and the host server, and tried different client machines. Granting everyone full permissions on the print spool folder on the server. Editing the registry to forward non-USB ports (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/302361) None of these have made any difference. The clients are using Windows 7 or Windows XP and none of them have any issues with printing locally. Any ideas? Thanks!

• Setting Remote Desktop to allows IPv6 connections

  Setup: Basically I have 3 machines (2 virtual and 1 physical) that I would like to be able to RDP in to from outside my NAT (a router). The VMs are Windows 7 and Windows XP, both fully patched with Teredo installed and working, both running in VirtualBox (their host also has Teredo working, though I'm not sure if that matters). They both have bridged network adapters with promiscuous mode enabled. The physical machine is Windows 7 fully patched with an HFS server running on it and a dynamic DNS set up for my public IPv4 address and port forwarded. It also has Teredo installed and working. Symptoms: According to http://test-ipv6.com/ all 3 have public IPv6 addresses, and they can all connect to http://ipv6.google.com/. I can ping the XP VM from the host it's running on but I cannot ping it from any other machine. Also, I cannot ping either of the other machines from anywhere. I cannot connect to any of them over RDP from IPv6, however I can connect to all of them through IPv4. Any ideas what is going wrong?

• Multiple Remote Desktop Connection in Windows Server 2003?

  My company is transitioning all user PC's to Windows 7 64-Bit in anticipation of the 2014 cutoff for Windows XP support. So far everything has been going great except for one specific piece of software that will not run in Windows 7. The current plan is to give everyone a cheap secondary PC to run this software but I feel that's a little much for software that's not even used all the time, although it is essential. I've suggested we install virtual machines but the company does not want to pay for the XP licences. I have access to a copy of Windows Server 2003 that is no longer being used and I was wondering if it was possible to create a remote desktop server. I know it can be done on a one-to-one basis, but this is a 15 person helpdesk. I'd like to be able to support multiple remote dekstop sessions, each with their own logins and dekstops. Is this possible? Are there any other alternatives to my issue? FYI, I've been told that XP mode is only free for consumers. There are costs when used in a corporate environment.

• Setting a subdomain to access home machine with windows remote desktop

  I'm trying to remotely connect to home machine through Windows Remote Desktop (amongst other things, but this is currently my primary focus). I can do this fine using my home WAN's static IP (thank god for cable!) with port-forwarding, but I would like to access it from a subdomain of my web-site (e.g. home.mydomain.co.uk). In the cPanel for my hosting account, I've gone into DNS zones and altered the A-record to point to my WAN's IP, which I thought should do the job, but I still cannot connect. When I ping the subdomain, I get my web-host's IP, which I guess is to be expected as I believe the DNS of the host domain is used first, then my server handles the redirection of traffic to the IP in the A-record. Is this the correct idea? Do A-record changes suffer from the same propagation delays as DNS record changes, as I suppose that could explain it? • Synchronizing local and remote cache in distributed caching

  With a distributed cache, a subset of the cache is kept locally while the rest is held remotely. In a get operation, if the entry is not available locally, the remote cache will be used and and the entry is added to local cache. In a put operation, both the local cache and remote cache are updated. Other nodes in the cluster also need to be notified to invalidate their local cache as well. What's a simplest way to achieve this if you implemented it yourself, assuming that nodes are not aware of each other. Edit My current implementation goes like this: Each cache entry contains a time stamp. Put operation will update local cache and remote cache Get operation will try local cache then remote cache A background thread on each node will check remote cache periodically for each entry in local cache. If the timestamp on remote is newer overwrite the local. If entry is not found in remote, delete it from local.

  I get a warning event with ID 20499 for TerminalServices-RemoteConnectionManager.The error is: Remote Desktop Services has taken too long to load the user configuration from server \server.domain.home for user administrator. Yet, I don't see any issues (I'm guessing because that user is on the machine local). Why am I getting this warning? I'm on Windows Server 2012 R2 connecting from a Windows 8.1.

• SMTP Remote Queue on Exchange 2003

  We are currently using Windows Server 2003 R2 with Exchange 2003 and SolarWinds Exchange Monitor to monitor. A couple of weeks ago the SMTP remote queue began to build up and it got to about 150 messages in the queue when it began to go down. For the last couple of days the queue has been building up and it has now reached 450 messages. Is there anyway that i can clear this and is it anything that I need to worry about? Thanks guys!

  I have an issue when connecting to remote machines using the following: Set objWMIService = objSWbemLocator.ConnectServer _ (sIP, "root\CIMV2", strUser, strPassword, "MS_409", "ntlmdomain:" + sDomain, 128) the problem is that some machines are not timing out and the process hangs.
