• Adaptec 2420SA RAID 1 rebuild 66% after 1 week

  We're running a 500GB RAID 1 on an Adaptec 2420SA - 2x500GB Hitachi Drives. It suddenly crashed and required a rebuild -- was not even booting. It's only at 66% after about a week. Very frustrated. This is the second box with the same card and drives that has had issues with the RAID/drives. Another box had this happen twice. Both machines are Linux boxes. CentOS and Fedora. I dunno if it's the firmware -- which currently needs an update (any help doing this over PXE would be great- I have used UDA to do PXE boots in the past). Anyway, would love to hear about experiences with this card and firmware. I thinking of going google and just using cheap boxes no raid and have server redundancy instead.

  Hi guys! I have been researching of how to download content of a site that requires username and password. This is actually harder than I thought it would be. I tried to use both HTTtrack Copier and followed the instruction below, but it's not working! Q: I can not access several pages (access forbidden, or redirect to another location), but I can with my browser, what's going on? A: You may need cookies! Cookies are specific data (for example, your username or password) that are sent to your browser once you have logged in certain sites so that you only have to log-in once. For example, after having entered your username in a website, you can view pages and articles, and the next time you will go to this site, you will not have to re-enter your username/password. To "merge" your personnal cookies to an HTTrack project, just copy the cookies.txt file from your Netscape folder (or the cookies located into the Temporary Internet Files folder for IE) into your project folder (or even the HTTrack folder)

• SVN hangs on commit - any suggestions for troubleshooting?

  We're having a problem with SVN... Subversion clients such as TortoiseSVN hang when we commit any more than a few files at a time to our server. Everything appears to actually be committed successfully to the repository; but the client hangs after all the data has been transmitted. We're using version 1.4.4 of the SVN server. We use the svn:// protocol rather than http to connect. We've reproduced this problem with several clients: TortoiseSVN (1.6.10), AnkhSVN (2.1), and the Silk command-line client (1.6.12). This is happening for everyone on the team, though some people seem to be more affected than others. If someone commits only a few files, it often works; but with more than half a dozen files, it usually hangs. Does anyone have troubleshooting suggestions? This has been happening sporadically for a while, but it's become pretty consistent lately. We've been working around the issue by killing the hung SVN client, doing "svn cleanup", and then doing "svn up"; but sometimes that causes tree conflicts. Another workaround is to blow away the workspace and check it out again after every commit; but of course that's pretty annoying. Are there any diagnostics that could help us troubleshoot this? We're considering upgrading to SVN 1.6 server, and installing the server on a new machine; but we're wondering if there's an easier solution. Thanks for your help, Richard

• Time sync fails on Hyper-V VM, but succeeds when I log in as a domain user

  We have a Windows Server 2003 SP2 VM running on Hyper-V (Server 2008 R2 host). The VM has Hyper-V time synchronization enabled. I noticed that the time on the VM was fast by around 25 minutes. I saw the following in the event log: The time provider NtpClient is configured to acquire time from one or more time sources, however none of the sources are currently accessible. No attempt to contact a source will be made for 15 minutes. NtpClient has no source of accurate time. The time provider NtpClient cannot reach or is currently receiving invalid time data from ourdc.ourdomain.local (ntp.d|192.168.2.18:123-192.168.2.2:123). Time Provider NtpClient: No valid response has been received from domain controller ourdc.ourdomain.local after 8 attempts to contact it. This domain controller will be discarded as a time source and NtpClient will attempt to discover a new domain controller from which to synchronize. I had been logged in as a local user. (We have an old app that runs on this VM - it requires a user to be logged in at all times, and we use a non-domain user account for this.) When I logged in as a domain user, the clock almost immediately corrected itself. Running "w32tm /monitor" and "net time" as the domain user showed no errors, and indicated that our domain controller was the time source. Does anyone know what might cause this, and why logging in under a domain account fixes the problem? I'm wondering if the time will start to drift again. Thanks for your help, Richard

• Problem with authentication of users via IE when using "host header value"

  Hi, I'm trying to set multiple web sites up in an IIS 6. I've got a working virtual site residing under the default web site, but if I create a new web site in the IIS and asign it a host header value, let it point to the very same file structure as in the prevoiusly mentioned site and finally asign windows integrated security only to the site - I still cannot log in to the new site using MSIE 6 or 8 but FF 3.5 works fine.   I have a local domain controller setup, which is MYDOMAIN.com, and on a seperate local server I have a MOSS site running. the DNS is all working fine but when I try to connect to the MOSS site using domain credentials I can't use syntax: MYDOMAIN/MyAccount it is expecting [email protected] What can I do to fix this issue, so I have normal domain login capabilities like every other sharepoint site out there?

• Intermittently, IIS7 requests get stuck in WindowsAuthenticationModule

  We're running an IIS7 server hosting several dozen websites. Several of these websites are all part of the same legacy app we've developed. These sites all run the same code and run in the same app pool. Roughly once a month over the past few months, we've found that all requests for this app pool start hanging indefinitely. When this happens, we receive an alert and we recycle the app pool. After that, the sites start working again. This only ever affects this one app pool - never any others on the same server. A couple times, before recycling the pool, I've looked at the currently-executing requests in the worker process. They all show up as executing inside the WindowsAuthenticationModule. Which is strange, because the vast majority of the application does not require authentication. There is a small admin section which uses Windows auth... but all the other requests should be anonymous. Does anyone have any idea as to what might be causing this? There are several unusual things about the way these sites are set up. As I mentioned, they all run the same code - multiple sites point at the same physical directory. The only difference is the host header bindings. I'm not sure why there isn't just one site with all the host headers, but that's how it works. In several of these sites, the same physical directory is mapped at two levels - as the root of the site and again as an application within the site. So if a user goes to http://oursite.com/index.aspx, that maps to c:\files\oursite\index.aspx. If a user goes to http://oursite.com/foo/index.aspx, that also maps to c:\files\oursite\index.aspx. I think there is code which looks at the request URL and handles the two requests differently. This is strange because the same web.config ends up being interpreted as a site config file, and also as an application config file within the site. I don't know if this might be related to the authentication problem. If we can't find the cause, we're thinking of a few workarounds we could try: Move the admin section into a separate site, and give the client a new admin URL. Run that separate site in its own app pool. Then in the web.config shared by all the other sites, remove the WindowsAuthenticationModule. That way there should be no possibility of a hang within the WindowsAuthenticationModule. Try running all these sites in the classic pipeline instead of the integrated pipeline. They were working fine on our old IIS6 server... (If we get desperate) Set up a watchdog script which monitors the sites and auto-recycles the app pool when it detects that requests are getting stuck. What do you think? • Telerik RadWindow does not fire ClientCallBackFunction after a ajax an __DoPostBack

  HI, I have a Telerik radwindow that allows our users to upload files. When the user first opens the radwindow and sees the upload fields, they can happily select a file and upload it. The window then returns the id of the uploaded file back to the parent page via the ClientCallBackFunction. This function then passes in the ID to a javascript function that calls __DoPostback so that we can populate the list of uploaded files. First time around it works a treat. However all subsequent times it fails to call ClientCallBackFunction unless i refresh the entire page. I also note that any other control on the parent page to uses an ajax postback also stops the ClientCallBackFunction begin called, even on the first time. any ideas? Thanks Richard

I need to attach to each list item file (*.jpg) from a local folder. • can not get jplayer plugin to work

  Hello, I hope somebody has some experience with the jplayer plugin I have been staring at the sourcecode of the demo's and looking in firebug, but I can't see why it is not showing at all. It also try's to use the flash file, but in other examples the embed code does not show up in the container div either.   Hello, my question is How can I set overflow hidden in cases where the html go's outside the screen Right now I have set html {overflow: hidden;} in the head tag off the page. So, it's hidden all the time In my particular case the errors that I show in the registration process cannot be seen on my 13inch laptop, but I don't want to show the scrollbars all the time. • Silverlight 4 - encoding PCM data from the microphone

  Hi I've written a basic SL4 application to capture audio data from the microphone using CaptureSource. The trouble is, it's raw PCM output - which means huge and uncompressed. Given that I need this application to run purely within a SL4 environment, how can I compress the PCM audio data into something that can be delivered to a remote server more easily? In conversation, people have suggested Speex and WMA for instance, but I haven't found any libraries or examples that work without requiring reference to DLL's that won't work in a SL4 project. I actually try to use the session array to store the post vars from a multistep registration form. • How do I exclude the sources jar in mvn deploy?

  When I run "mvn deploy:deploy", maven deploys 4 jar files to my internal remote repository. They are: [module-name]-1.jar [module-name]-1.pom [module-name]-1-sources.jar [module-name]-1-tests.jar There are actually more files, such as md5 and sha1 files, being deployed. But for simplicity, I just skip these files here. Is there any way to exclude [module-name]-1-sources.jar from the deployment process? One way I can think of is to use "mvn deploy:deploy-file", which allows me to pinpoint which jar to deploy. But since I have a few dozen modules to deploy, it'll be nice if I can configure the deployment file exclusion in pom.xml. Otherwise, I'll have to write a script to deploy. Thanks, Richard

For example, Workbook1 has a single worksheet, Sheet1. I get 2 rows in the DataView, with the TABLE_NAME field being "Sheet1$" and "Sheet1$_". OK, I could use a RowFilter, but wondered whether there was a better way or why this extra row is returned? thanks Richard

  Hello, Can someone help me with this I am trying to set and catch the url variable It begins with a form wich has the standard action set to "/autorisation/logout" Then a button with an inline javascript function function tbPayout() { parent.location = "/autorisation/logout?rcgo=payout"; return true; } <input src="/images/go02.gif" type=image border=0 name="go1" onClick="return tbPayout();"> In the autorisation controller I try to catch it if ( isset($_GET['rcgo']) ) { but it doesn't work and I can't see the variable in the url and therefore the default forms action is performed? I also have another redirect page with content="3; url=http://www.domain.nl/index/index?rcgo=logout" /> and that works fine How can I get the javascript to work because I have three submit buttons that need to be set to different get variables. • VS2008 on Win7 64-Bit: Debugging a Windows Service

  Hi all, I'm trying to debug a Windows Service using VS2008 on Win7 64-Bit. The problem I'm having is that none of my breakpoints are being hit, regardless of which build configuration I choose: x86, x64 or AnyCPU. Using "Attach to Process" after the service has started, none of the breakpoints are hit - yet the IDE doesn't inform me that they won't be hit (by making the solid red circle and outline, for instance) - it simply seems to act as if the breakpoints weren't even there. Can anyone point me in the right direction here? Thanks /Richard.

  Hi all I'm using an ADO.NET Entity Model which I'm trying to query using LINQ. The problem I'm having is that I can't specify the where clause as I'd like. • How to share WinForms and code between 2 projects

  Hi I have a working Windows Forms app (split into an EXE and a few DLLs). Now I've been asked to look at creating another app (MyAppLite) that has only a very small subset of the functionality. Think of it as similar to MS Word Viewer vs. MS Word. Everything that I need to build MyAppLite is contained in the main solution - essentially I need to use a couple of the WinForms and whatever bits in the DLLs they call into. What would be the best way to do this? I was thinking of creating another Project in my solution for MyAppLite, then adding the necessary source files as links (using Add Existing Item Add As Link in Solution Explorer). I definitely wouldn't want to maintain 2 copies of the source code. FYI it's a .NET 2.0 VB app, using VS2008. thanks Richard

• C# Expression Tree Simple Arithmetic

  Hello, I've been trying to figure out how to achieve some simple maths using the Expression class. What I'm trying to do is this (1 + 10 * 15) When I try to do this via Expression.Add and Expression.Constant but the result I get is this ((1 + 10) * 15) Which is not right as it evaluates the 1 + 10 first instead of 10 * 15. Is there a way to combine Expression.Add/Multiply etc.. without it creating the brackets? I assume there is but I just can't find where or how! The test code I have is this var v1 = Expression.Constant(1, typeof(int)); var v2 = Expression.Constant(10, typeof(int)); var v3 = Expression.Constant(15, typeof(int)); var a1 = Expression.Add(v1, v2); var m2 = Expression.Multiply(a1, v3); Thanks for your time, Richard.
