  • Adding a link to image breaks jquery slider, help please!

    - by lewisqic
    Hi All, I am working on a site for a friend and trying to add a link to each image in a slide show. The slide show uses jquery and a script called easySlider1.7.js. Everything works just fine if the images are left alone, but when I try and wrap the images with a link, the slides no longer progress as they should. Here is the live website that is displaying the problem... http://www.splits59.com/ Here is the html code for each of the slide images... <div class="covercontent2box"> <div class="covercontent2"> <div id="slideshow"> <a href="/ashton-jacket-p-107.html"><img src="img/homepagesummer2010_2.2-cut.jpg" class="active" /></a> <a href="/carly-coverup-p-106.html"><img src="img/homepagesummer2010_3.2-cut.jpg" /></a> <a href="/shop-online-bottoms-c-15_14.html"><img src="img/homepagesummer2010_1.2-cut.jpg" /></a> </div> </div> </div> And here is the jquery code on the page that controls the slider... <script type="text/javascript"> function slideSwitch() { var $active = $('#slideshow IMG.active'); if ( $active.length == 0 ) $active = $('#slideshow IMG:last'); // use this to pull the images in the order they appear in the markup var $next = $active.next().length ? $active.next() : $('#slideshow IMG:first'); $active.addClass('last-active'); $next.css({opacity: 0.0}) .addClass('active') .animate({opacity: 1.0}, 1000, function() { $active.removeClass('active last-active'); }); } $(function() { setInterval( "slideSwitch()", 4500 ); }); </script> Does anyone have any idea why adding a link tag to the images breaks the slider? Any help or direction provided would be appreciated. Thanks, Devin

  • Weird Behavior with Jquery image slideshow... Help!

    - by Thomas
    I built a jquery slideshow based on the tutorial found here: http://www.queness.com/post/152/simple-jquery-image-slide-show-with-semi-transparent-caption It seems to be working perfectly fine, except that it behaves strangley right at the beginning when it displays the first image. The first image appears like normal and then flashes, fades to white and disappears completely. After that, the first slide reappears and behaves normally, transitioning to the next image. The slideshow in question is center page on the right: http://www.loftist.com/ I am not a JS developer, so I am not sure how to troubleshoot this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

  • Animation of UINavigationController's UIToolbar

    - by Michael Waterfall
    When presenting a view controller that has toolbar items, is it possible for the toolbar to slide in with the view controller (i.e. slide in from the right) as opposed to it sliding from the bottom? In the view controller that is being presented, I've got the toolbar being shown within the -viewWillAppear: method, but the toolbar is being slid up from the bottom of the screen as opposed to it looking like it belongs to the view controller. - (void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated { [self.navigationController setToolbarHidden:NO animated:YES]; ... }

  • AS3: creating a class with multiple and optional parameters?

    - by redconservatory
    I'm creating a slideshow where each slide can have: - a video or a still - 1 audio track or many (up to 3) - 1 button or many (up to 3) I was thinking that each slide can be it's own object, and then I would pass the video, audio, buttons, etc., into it as parameters: package { import flash.media.Video; public class Section { public function Section (video:Video, still:myPhotoClass, audiotrack:Sound, button:myButtonClass) { // can have video OR a still // can have 1 audio track or several // can have 1 button or more } } I'm not sure how to go about approaching this since there can be multiples of certain items (audio, buttons) and also two items are sort-of-optional in the sense that there can be ONE or the OTHER (video/still). For example, is this something that I should just avoid passing as parameters altogether, using a different approach (getters/setters, maybe)?

  • Flexslider position of previous and next slides

    - by TJ15
    I am using the basic flexslider, I wantto display some of the previous and next , so if slide 2 is showing you will see part of slide 1 to the left and part of slide 3 to the right. <!DOCTYPE html> <head> <link rel="stylesheet" href="flexslider.css" type="text/css"> <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.6.2/jquery.min.js"></script> <style> .container {overflow: hidden; width: 100%} .flexslider {max-width: 500px; width: 500px; margin: 0 auto} .content {background: #f2f2f2; max-width: 500px; display: block; margin: 0 auto} .flex-viewport {overflow: visible !important} </style> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Untitled Document</title> </head> <body> <div class="container"> <div class="flexslider"> <ul class="slides"> <li><img src="785.jpg" /></li> <li><img src="785.jpg" /></li> <li><img src="785.jpg" /></li> <li><img src="785.jpg" /></li> </ul> </div> </div> <script src="jquery.flexslider.js"></script> <script> jQuery(document).ready(function($) { // You can use the locally-scoped $ in here as an alias to jQuery. $(window).load(function() { $('.flexslider').flexslider(); }); }); </script> </body> </html> I have reduced the image to 70% and positioned it in the middle of the page. I want to have the next and previous slides visible on either side of the main pic but no idea where to make the appropriate changes (I assume in the js file). I thought this was a margin issue but setting this to 0 in styles makes no difference. Has anyone done this and can provide some advice?

  • new image makes http request even though cached?

    - by joshs
    I have a javascript slide show that creates the next slide dynamically and then moves it into view. Since the images are actually sprites, the src is transparent.png and the actual image is mapped via background:url(.. in css. Everytime (well, most of the time) the script creates a new Element, Firefox makes an http request for transparent.png. I have a far-future expires header, and Firefox is respecting all other files' expiries. Is there a way to avoid these unnecessary requests. Even though the server is returning 304 unmodified responses, it would be nice if Firefox would respect the expiries on dynamically created images. I suspect that if I injected a simple string instead of using new Element, this might solve the problem, but I use some methods on Prototypes extended Element object, so I would like to avoid a bunch of html strings in my js file. This is a nit-picky question, but I'm working on front-end optimization now, so I thought I would address it. Thanks.

  • SlideUp a div if any other div is slided down with jQuery

    - by John
    I have made a function to slidedown different div's by clicking different links. Following is basic code. However, there's a little problem that, for example, if i click on first link, it slides down div. Now If i click on next link, it keeps the first div, and slides down the second div. However I want to do it so that, if there is any div slided down, and I click on any link, it should slide up the previous div and slide down the newer one. I will appriciate your help in this regard. Thanks. $("a.about").click(function(){ $("#about").slideDown("slow"); }); $("a.info").click(function(){ $("#info").slideDown("slow"); }); $("a.contact").click(function(){ $("#contact").slideDown("slow"); });

  • How can I run a function anytime anything is animated with jQuery?

    - by WillyCornbread
    Hi - I have some jQuery animations in my code to slide divs up and down in response to some mouse clicks and other logic. This is all working just peachy, however in IE 6 some of the smaller icon images on the page don't slide along with the rest of the div for some strange reason. They kind of stay put then flicker into the new position and I've chalked this up to an IE6 'feature'. Considering that I have to support IE6, I wanted to just hide the icons anytime an animation started, and show them again when the queue was empty. I couldn't find a reference to any kind of events or hooks into the queue itself and I'd rather not add the hide code, then the show code to every animation as a callback. Thanks if you can help- b

  • Fading transition slideshow

    - by Simon Carlson
    I've got a JavaScript that produces a slideshow. It loads the pictures before starting the actual slideshow. Code below. var image1=new Image() image1.src="filename1.jpg" var image2=new Image() image2.src="filename2.jpg" var image3=new Image() image3.src="filename3.jpg" var step=1 function slideit(){ if (!document.images) return document.images.slide.src=eval("image"+step+".src") if (step<3) step++ else step=1 setTimeout("slideit()",1000) } And this is the required HTML for it to work: <img src="filename1.jpg" name="slide" /> Now, if I want to have fading transitions instead of just having new pictures popping up, how do I approach this? By fading I mean either have the old picture fade out, the new fade in or possibly and most likely both fade in/out. Can this be achieved with pure JavaScript and no jQuery or Ajax?

  • Define Javascript slider hit/rollover area

    - by Rob
    Hey, Im having an issue defining the hit area for a javascript sliding element. See example: http://www.warface.co.uk/clients/warface.co.uk/ Please slide over the grey box on the right side to reveal the button, although this works I would only like for the slider to only be triggered by rolling over the red block. CSS .slidingtwitter { /* -- This is the hit area -- */ background: #ccc; width:255px; height:55px; overflow: hidden; top:50%; right: 0px; /* -- This is the sliding start point -- */ position: fixed; font-family: Gotham, Sans-Serif; z-index: 50; } .slidingtwitter.right { right:0px; } .slidingtwitter .caption { /* -- This is the sliding area -- */ background: #fff; position: absolute; width:260px; height:55px; right: -205px; /* -- This is the sliding start point -- */ } .slidingtwitter a { color: #484848; font-size: 20px; text-transform: uppercase; } .slidingtwitter a:hover { color: black; } .slidingtwitter .smaller { font-size: 12px; font-family: Gotham Medium; } .twitterblock { background: #f35555 url("styles/images/button_twitter.png") no-repeat 14px 15px ; width:35px; height:35px; padding:10px; float:left; display:block; } .slidingtwitter .followme { background: url("styles/images/button_arrowheadthin.jpg")no-repeat right 0; height:35px; display:block; float:left; line-height:14px; width:140px; margin:10px 0px 0px 14px; padding-top:6px; padding-right: 40px; } JS $('.slidingtwitter').hover(function(){ $(".slide", this).stop().animate({right:'0px'},{queue:false,duration:400}); //Position on rollover },function() { $(".slide", this).stop().animate({right:'-205px'},{queue:false,duration:400}); //Position on rollout }); Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

  • UIView animation does not animate at first try?

    - by Bacalso Vincent
    Considering that my _palette's frame is like this: _palette.frame = CGRectMake(0,480,320,200); I have this code here to slide up/down a UIView: if(![_pallete superview]) { [self.view addSubview:_pallete]; [self.view insertSubview:_tempViewPaletteListener belowSubview:_pallete]; [UIView animateWithDuration:0.3 animations:^{ _pallete.top -= kPaletteHeight; } completion:^(BOOL isFinished) { }]; } else { [UIView animateWithDuration:0.3 animations:^{ _pallete.top += kPaletteHeight; } completion:^(BOOL isFinished) { [_tempViewPaletteListener removeFromSuperview]; [_pallete removeFromSuperview]; }]; } *the _tempViewPaletteListener is just a view with a tap gesture use to dismiss the palette* The problem is when I first try to run code here, the _palette view will just stiffly display right away. What I expected is, it should slide up the _palette view. Though it works fine after the first try

  • Are there any modern GUI toolkits which implement a heirarchical menu buffer zone?

    - by scomar
    In Bruce Tognazzini's quiz on Fitt's Law, the question discussing the bottleneck in the hierarchical menu (as used in almost every modern desktop UI), talks about his design for the original Mac: The bottleneck is the passage between the first-level menu and the second-level menu. Users first slide the mouse pointer down to the category menu item. Then, they must carefully slide the mouse directly across (horizontally) in order to move the pointer into the secondary menu. The engineer who originally designed hierarchicals apparently had his forearm mounted on a track so that he could move it perfectly in a horizontal direction without any vertical component. Most of us, however, have our forarms mounted on a pivot we like to call our elbow. That means that moving our hand describes an arc, rather than a straight line. Demanding that pivoted people move a mouse pointer along in a straight line horizontally is just wrong. We are naturally going to slip downward even as we try to slide sideways. When we are not allowed to slip downward, the menu we're after is going to slam shut just before we get there. The Windows folks tried to overcome the pivot problem with a hack: If they see the user move down into range of the next item on the primary menu, they don't instantly close the second-level menu. Instead, they leave it open for around a half second, so, if users are really quick, they can be inaccurate but still get into the second-level menu before it slams shut. Unfortunately, people's reactions to heightened chance of error is to slow down, rather than speed up, a well-established phenomenon. Therefore, few users will ever figure out that moving faster could solve their problem. Microsoft's solution is exactly wrong. When I specified the Mac hierarchical menu algorthm in the mid-'80s, I called for a buffer zone shaped like a <, so that users could make an increasingly-greater error as they neared the hierarchical without fear of jumping to an unwanted menu. As long as the user's pointer was moving a few pixels over for every one down, on average, the menu stayed open, no matter how slow they moved. (Cancelling was still really easy; just deliberately move up or down.) This just blew me away! Such a simple idea which would result in a huge improvement in usability. I'm sure I'm not the only one who regularly has the next level of a menu slam shut because I don't move the mouse pointer in a perfectly horizontal line. So my question is: Are there any modern UI toolkits which implement this brilliant idea of a < shaped buffer zone in hierarchical menus? And if not, why not?!

  • position:absolute within border-radius and overflow:hidden

    - by JaNightmare
    I had a problem with border-radius in webkit browsers and found the solution at the following URL: How to make CSS3 rounded corners hide overflow in Chrome/Opera but iam using a another element with position: absolute; inside this now I need to make the caption with rounded border too, but do not know how note: i can't use another border-radius in caption, because this will have an animation see the code with: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8"> <title>Problem</title> <style type="text/css"> img { border: 0; } a { text-decoration: none; } .wrap-events { float: left; position: relative; width: 500px; height: 250px; } .events { overflow: hidden; -webkit-border-radius: 50px; -moz-border-radius: 50px; border-radius: 50px; } .caption { position: absolute; width: 100%; bottom: 0; color: #FFFFFF; background-color: #151515; font: 12px "Arial", Helvetica, sans-serif; opacity: 0.6; border-radius: 0 0 50px 50px; /* add border-radius to caption */ } .caption p { padding: 10px; } </style> </head> <body> <div class="wrap-events"> <div class="events"> <a href="#"> <img src="http://www.cg-auto.com.br/forum/imagens/imagens_news/26c4dc4359edcfd4c6871ee1fa958539.jpg" alt="image"> </a> <div class="caption"> <p>This is a caption</p> </div> </div> </div> <button id="slide">Slide It!</button> <script type="text/javascript" src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.7.1/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $('#slide').click(function(){ $('.caption').hide().slideDown(2000); }); </script> </body> </html> cheers

  • jQuery mobile swipe spamming and animation

    - by halliewuud
    I have say 5 list items with images inside placed 200px from eachother. I am trying to animate these list items to slide horizontally left if one presses a link with the id = #next or if one swipes left. And vice versa for sliding the list items right. Every click or swipe results in a slide animation of 200px on every list item. I ran into a problem where spamming the #next or #prev button would cancel the current animation and start a new one. This results in list items not sliding 200px+200px+200... but something like this 200px+140px+120... This because like I said the animation is cut and therefore the sliding distance will be shorter. Now I solved this for the clicking event by disabling the button before the animation starts and then re'enabling it on the end callbak function. But this problem is remaining for the swipe event. How can I solve this problem for the swipe event?

  • [as3] air for android - stage.setOrientation deprecated in AIR 2.5 so how do I do it now?

    - by jason
    as3 air for android using flash CS5 my problem: testing an AIR app on my droid 2 global (with slide out keyboard) using stage.addEventListener(StageOrientationEvent.ORIENTATION_CHANGE, handleOrientationChange); this is only fired when the i slide the keyboard out and not when I rotate the phone. I have tried this with the auto orientation on and off and with the aspect to portrait and landscape. actually the auto orientation option does not seem to make a difference on or off. I need the orientation to change when i rotate the phone. I know i can use the accelerometer to do this but the problem with that is when I click on a textField with the keyboard closed only the vertical keyboard pops up and i need the other one to pop up when holding the phone sideways.

  • Re-opening closed dialog puts it in the start position after moving it

    - by semmelbroesel
    I'm using multiple instances of the JQuery-UI dialog along with draggable and resizable. Whenever I drag or resize one of the dialog boxes, the position and dimensions of the current box are saved to a database and then loaded the next time the page opens. This is working well. However, when I close a dialog box and re-open it using a button, jQuery sets the position of the box back to its original location in the center of the screen. Furthermore, I use a show effect to slide the box off to the left on closing and in from the left on re-opening. I found two ways to update its position when the slide in animation is done, however, it still slides into the center of the screen, and I have yet to find a way to get it to slide in towards the location it is supposed to have. Here are the parts of the code that play a part in this: $('.box').dialog({ closeOnEscape: false, hide: { effect: "drop", direction: 'left' }, beforeClose: function (evt, ui){ var $this = $(this); SavePos($this); // saves the dimensions to db }, dragStop: function() { var $this = $(this); SavePos($this); }, resizeStop: function() { var $this = $(this); SavePos($this); }, open: function() { var $this = $(this); $this.dialog('option', { show: { effect: "drop", direction: 'left'} } ); if (init) // meaning only load this code when the page has finished initializing { // tried it both ways - set the position before and after the effect - no success UpdatePos($this.attr('id')); // I tried this section with promise() and effect / complete - I found no difference $this.parent().promise().done(function() { UpdatePos($this.attr('id')); }); } } }); function UpdatePos(key) { // boxpos is an object holding the position for each box by the box's id var $this = $('#' + key); //console.log('updating pos for box ' + boxid); if ($this && $this.hasClass('ui-dialog-content')) { //console.log($this.dialog('widget').css('left')); $this.dialog('option', { width: boxpos[key].width, height: boxpos[key].height }); $this.dialog('widget').css({ left: boxpos[key].left + 'px', top: boxpos[key].top + 'px' }); //console.log('finished updating pos'); //console.log($this.dialog('widget').css('left')); } } The button that re-opens the box has this code on it to make that happen: var $box = $('#boxid'); if ($box) { if ($box.dialog('isOpen')) { $box.dialog('moveToTop'); } else { $box.dialog("open") } } I don't know what jQuery-UI does to the box as it hides it (other than display:none) or to make it slide in, so maybe there's something I'm missing here that might help... Basically, I need JQuery to remember the box' position and put the box back into that location when it is re-opened. It took me days to make it this far, but this is one obstacle I have yet to overcome. Maybe there's a different way I can re-open the box? Thanks! EDIT: Forgot - this issue ONLY happens when I use my UpdatePos function to set the location of a box (i.e. on page load). When I drag a box with my mouse, close it, and re-open it, everything works. So I'm guessing there's one more storage location for the box' position that I'm missing here... EDIT2: After more messing with it, my code for debugging now looks like this: open: function() { var $this = $(this); console.log('box open'); console.log($this.dialog('widget').position()); // { top=0, left=-78.5} console.log($this.dialog('widget').css('left')); $this.dialog('option', { show: { effect: "drop", direction: 'left'} } ); if (init) { UpdatePos($this.attr('id')); $this.parent().promise().done(function() { console.log($this.dialog('widget').position()); // { top=313, left=641.5} console.log($this.dialog('widget').css('left')); UpdatePos($this.attr('id')); console.log($this.dialog('widget').position()); // { top=121, left=107} console.log($this.dialog('widget').css('left')); }); } The results I'm getting are: box open Object { top=0, left=-78.5} -78.5px Object { top=313, left=641.5} 641.5px Object { top=121, left=107} 107px So looks to me as if the widget is being moved off screen (left=-78.5) and then moved for the animation, and then my code moves it into the location that it should be in (121/107). The position() results for $box.position() or $box.dialog().position() do not change during this debugging section. Maybe this will help someone here - I'm still out of ideas here... ... and I just discovered that when I drag the item around myself, then close and re-open it, it is very unpredictable. Sometimes, it will end up in the correct location horizontally, but not vertically. Sometimes, it will end up back in the center of the screen...

  • Is referencing a selector faster in jquery than actually calling the selector? if so, how much does it make a difference?

    - by anthonypliu
    Hi, I have this code: $(preview-button).click(...) $(preview-button).slide(...) $(preview-button).whatever(...) Is it a better practice to do this: var preview-button = $(preview-button); preview-button.click(...); preview-button.click(...); preview-button).slide(...); preview-button.whatever(...); It probably would be better practice to do this for the sake of keeping code clean and modular, BUT does it make a difference performance wise? Does one take longer to process than the other? Thanks guys.

  • Toggle alternative

    - by Nutmeg
    In a contactform I am using both the jQuery validation plug-in 1.3 and the following (slide) script: $(document).ready(function() { // Expand Panel $("#open").click(function(){ $("div#contact").slideDown("slow"); }); // Collapse Panel $("#close").click(function(){ $("div#contact").slideUp("bounce"); }); // Switch buttons from "Log In | Register" to "Close Panel" on click $("#toggle a").click(function () { $("#toggle a").toggle(); }); }); Problem is that the validation plug-in 1.3 uses the following segment: addWrapper:function(toToggle){if(this.settings.wrapper)toToggle.push(toToggle.parents(this.settings.wrapper));return toToggle;}, which conflicts with the slide code. What's the smartest way to go about this? Using the toggleClass instead? Thanks for your help!

  • Showing and hidding a DIV

    - by user1741568
    I'm in the process of building a gallery for my public art pieces. I was wondering if there was an easy way to show and hide a div? I only want the concept text to be seen on the first page of the following link: http://www.gerardtonti.com/PresentTense/PresentTense.html Right now I have the concept in a div called "concept" set to absolute positioning. Is there also a way for the text to conform relative to the size of the window like the background image? I've also tried using an iframe and colorbox instead of a div but had no idea how to make the iframe visible only on the first slide as well. Wether using an iframe or div, I was wondering if it was possible to hide either on the frames that follow the first slide. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Gerry

    I am working on scroll. I have made a program wherein if the scroll box is in particular range of the panel then it automatically moves to a particular position in the slider. For eg, I have a panel of size 500. the scroll has height of 100. Now the total intervals are 5. Now if i slide the scroll box at a position 225 then i want that it automatically slides to the start of that interval that is at position 200. or if i slide to position 450 then instead of staying there it goes to position 400. Is it possible?
