• 3D Math: Calculate Bank (Roll) angle from Look and Up orthogonal vectors

  I hope this is the proper location to ask this question which is the same as this one, but expressed as pure math instead of graphically (at least I hope I translated the problem to math correctly). Considering: two vectors that are orthogonal: Up (ux, uy, uz) and Look (lx, ly, lz) a plane P which is perpendicular to Look (hence including Up) Y1 which is the projection of Y (vertical axis) along Look onto P Question: what is the value of the angle between Y1 and Up? As mathematicians will agree, this is a very basic question, but I've been scratching my head for at least two weeks without being able to visualize how to project Y onto P... maybe now too old for finding solutions to school exercises. I'm looking for the trigonometric solution, not a solution using a matrix. Thanks.

• iphone tabbar with custom buttons and scrollvie

  i'm trying to get a tab bar effect not unlike russel quinn's 'creative review' app. the tabbar swipes across, which i have figured out, but the tabbar style itself is unlike anything i've seen on the iphone (though it looks so simple!). it has square buttons with a space between, and each button has a select/active/inactive state. i'm having a hard time seeing how this can be tabbar, but i don't know any other way. can someone explain this? here's the example :: http://bit.ly/c8CeBC. any help is appreciated.

  While reading documentation of Google Data API and Atlassian REST API, I found interesting functionality - link (or title, element expansion) - http://bit.ly/i3rKMw. I would like to implement this functionality in my Java project of web service server for our IS, but I can't find any proper solution or advices for implementation. My project is quite big with many services so I need some robust and most automated solution. I was thinking about how to implement it like an extension for RESTEasy and JAXB, but it seems to be very complicated. Do you know some opensource projects which implements this functionality or any advices which could help me?

• jquery onclick function not firing with rails link_to_remote

  In the js file of the page, inside $(document).ready(function() {} i have $(".school a").live("click", function (e){ e.preventDefault(); ....; jsFunc(param1, param2, param3); }); Now the div with the class school has tags generated by rails link_to_remote with :url, :action, :before, :html. On clicking on this link it does all that it should do with regards to link_to_remote, but somehow the onclick event in the document.ready does not attach to it. Why would this be happening? The jsFunc all it does is post to a url async-ly, i figured out that stuffing that post url in the :before of the link_to_remote would work - but is there a more elegant way of just being able to use the attach functionality

Celery would being to start, but would stop short of printing out the configuration items, implying that it wasn't starting correct. • Track unicode words from Twitter using Ruby and the Tweetstream API

  I am trying to track a set of keywords from Twitter by using the Streaming API (can't post the link here because of spam limitations: google twitter streaming API). I am doing this inside Ruby, using the TweetStream gem: http://bit.ly/cODAWI The problem I have is that I want to track keywords that contain some unicode/UTF-8 characters. For instance: require 'rubygems' require 'tweetstream' TweetStream::Client.new("my_user_name", "my_password").track("é") do |s| puts s.text end (you can try it out, provided you installed the tweetstream and json gems) This piece of code does not print anything, while replacing "é" with "e" outputs a bunch of tweets continuously. • Is it possible to use multi keyboards with multi keyboard layouts simultaneously?

  Considering to switch to dvorak layout, but this terminal is used by multi users as the same user account. It is unacceptable to ask all people to switch layout, plus it is hard to use dvorak layout with a keyboard qwerty-ly labeled. But there are spare (USB,qwerty) keyboards, so if I plug another keyboard in and be able to use multi layouts on different psyical keyboard simultaneously (I will rearrange letters on keys), the problem get solved. solution for either windows or linux is fine. anyway thanks all.

• Control margins of an automatically generated content presenter in Windows Phone Panorama Control

  I am building an MVVM Panorama Windows Phone 7 application. At some point of Panorama Item's layout I get a bottom margin of a panorama header box, that moves my content too far down. Is there a way I can set a bottom margin of a ContentPresenter, that is generated to hold the controls, defined in the Panorama.HeaderTemplate? • Trouble with Canvas rendering in Safari/Opera

  Been banging my head against this one for a while, and figured I'd turn to the experts for some advice. I've made a jQuery snippet that grabs the values from a table and plots them in a line graph on a canvas element (also generated by the JS). All's well in Firefox and Chrome, but Safari and Opera aren't displaying the plotted points. I've reviewed in Firebug, Web Inspector debugger, JSLint, and checked the markup with the w3 validator, but still can't find anything glaringly obvious. Any chance one of you guys could help me out?   I know I'll get into all kinds of trouble for bringing this up on SO, but considering that nearly all of us programmers depend on the Internet to get our jobs done, I really think it's worth looking into today's failure of our right to use the Internet by way of Lobbying ISPs. Although something tells me there will be retribution for the actions of the ISPs/tel cos/cable and their lobbyist since, lets face it...ISPs/Telcos didn't invent the Internet. I'm not going to be the one to do it, but um I think somebody already has...as everybody I talked to was having Internet connection problems today at work. Just thought this might be relevant to all of our jobs...in the U.S.A. at least. If you work at an Big evil ISPs, by all means...try and close this question. • Why are the default UI controls in my iPhone app blurred?

  Why would the default iPhone interface elements, specifically the UISwitch (unmodified) and a UISegmentedControl appear slightly blurred? I have not changed them or called any private APIs. This blurring occurs when I run it both in the simulator and when I load it on my iPod Touch, so I don't think it's a one off drawing glitch. These elements were created via some code (initWithFrame:) not in interface builder. Here is a screenshot of the blurring in the simulator: http://drp.ly/14rS6a It looks similar on the actual device.   I'm working to create a simple Python script that will ultimately tell you how many blog entries were posted in a given month, and the pyblog app is proving very helpful. However, when I create the blog object, I don't know how to access it's various attributes. • onbeforeunload dilemma: iframe breaking vs. annoying message on refresh/back buttons click

  I'm implementing a search service called SearchInsideOut. http://bit.ly/97SFyW This search service simply replaces web page results by full web pages (Yes, I used iframe). The problem I have to deal with is iframe-breaking pages. The promising solution I found is using onbeforeunload to let users decide whether to stay or leave my site. But this also creates another annoying behavior. When users click other links in my site, onbeforeunload will also be triggered. Fortunately, I could solve this case by placing window.onbeforeunload=null in the onclick event of those links of my site. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to detect external events like clicking "refresh/back" buttons. What should I do to solve this difficulty? All suggestions and comments are highly appreciated.

  Yesterday, I had the amazing opportunity to fly along with Sean D. Tucker and Team Oracle. Leaving from the San Carols airport, we did a 30 minute flight over the Pacific just south of the coastal town of Half Moon Bay. In that half hour, I rode through a massive 4G loop, survived a crushing hammerhead, and took control of the plane to perform a basic wing over (you can learn what the heck I'm talking about by visiting this website).   I came to work for Oracle in November 2012 as a Customer Intelligence Representative and since then I was promoted to a Business Development Consultant, for Commercial Industries in the UK, based in Dublin. My background was primarily in Logistics, working for such companies as Indaver Ireland, Wincanton and P&O. I spent 10 years working in this industry and gained experience in negotiating with customers and suppliers in order to meet the needs of both, monitoring the quality and quantity of goods as well as the efficiency and organisation of the movement and storage of products. I decided to move from my logistics career in 2009 to study Information Technology in D.I.T. This was a challenge for me to move my career path; however the lectures at the college helped me significantly with the ability to understand how IT can have an effect on how businesses operate. Following on from college I came to work for Oracle. This also presented challenges but the training I received and the encouragement from management helped me understand that the same business rules apply no matter what background you come from. I have also learnt that using my past experience in working with customers and suppliers in Logistics has helped me understand how to meet customer’s needs. It is SQL User Group and we discuss everything SQL there. This month we had SQL Server 2014 theme and we had a community launch of SQL Server.   Diariamente estamos em contato com diversas tecnologias, muitas delas complementares ou realizam tarefas muito semelhantes como o caso dos tablets X smartphones. Não podemos negar o quanto estas tecnologias passaram a fazer parte do hábito diário universalmente, alterando o padrão como consumimos informação, e até mesmo como utilizamos ou utilizávamos o computador.Basicamente existem 2 tipos de inovação:1 – incremental – que ocorre de acordo com as melhorias, ajustas, releituras e evolução de um produto. Este tipo de inovação podemos ver em automóveis, que seguem o mesmo princípio, porém quando comparamos um automóvel atual com um fabricado a 20 anos atrás, podemos perceber as inovações incrementais que alteraram o produto.2 – disruptiva – este tipo de inovação geralmente causar um novo momento, é até uma alteração do hábito de uso dos produtos. Foi o caso da revolução industrial, que automatizou processos de produção, ou da câmera digital que alterou a forma como habitualmente fotos eram tiradas e reveladas.Dentro deste processo existe uma curva de adoção tecnológica, esta curva foi criada americano Everett M. Rogers, PHd em sociologia e estatística.Em seu livro “The diffusion of inovations” (1962) – em português – A difusão das inovações, Rogers apresenta após diversas análises e estudos a curva de adoção tecnológica, Roger´s é o criador do termo Early Adopters muito utilizado nos dias de hoje.Abaixo podemos entender a curva de adoção:2,5% da população são os Innovators/Inovadores – eles possuem acesso á qualquer inovação antes de todos, por questões sociais, influência, conhecimento. São as pessoas que tem acesso a inovação antes que ela esteja disponível no mercado. 13,50 % são os Early Adopters, pessoas e empresa que por uma questão comportamental buscam ter as inovações assim que são lançadas, frente a isso existe uma série de vantagens e desvantagens. Estar à frente do mercado muitas vezes significa utilizar coisas que o mercado ainda não utiliza, por isso este comportamento pode colocar muitas empresas a frente de seus concorrentes mais tradicionais. Há também o risco da inovação não ser 100% aceita, ou passar por algum processo de ajuste, mas certamente os early adopters conseguem explanar melhor sobra visão de futuro.34% são os Early Majority, nesta fase da adoção muitas pessoas/empresas são influenciadas pelos early adopters, bem como inicia-se uma clico “natural” de busca por inovação. 34% são os late majority, ou seja empresas/pessoas que esperam que todos utilizem e adotam quase na última onda.Ao final temos 16% os laggards – retardatários, empresas e pessoas que só adotam inovações porque não possuem mais saída frente as alterações causadas, e precisam de alguma forma sobreviver frente as mudanças.Frente a este cenário onde você este inserido? • Access forbidden 403 error in xampp

  I am very new to xampp. I have made a fresh xampp install with the following commands. sudo su cd /tmp wget bit.ly/1cmyrUo -O xampp-32bit.run chmod 777 ./xampp-32bit.run sudo ./xampp-32bit.run Then I made a perl file to check whether my xampp works. The following is my sample.pl file content. #!usr/bin/perl print "content-type:text/html\n"; print(header()); use CGI qw(:standard); print(start_html()); print "Hello. I am ram"; print(end_html()); After copying my perl file from /home/vicky/desktop to /opt/lampp/cgi-bin. I started my xampp with the following command. /opt/lampp/lampp start Then I ran my sample.pl in the localhost with the help of the http://localhost/cgi-bin/sample.pl in my mozilla browser. I just got the following window. I found only answers relating to the 'new security concept error' and 'accessing virtual host issue'. I did came across an askubuntu query, a bid similar to that of mine. It had no answers but some comments. One comment suggested to change the file permissions. It directed to get help from here. It said to change the directory permission as 755 and file permission as 644 to resolve this kind of issue. When I tried to do that, I came to know that my cgi-bin directory already had 755 permission and my sample.pl had 644 permission. I have no solutions now. PostScript: I have attached the content of my /opt/lampp/apache2/conf/httpd.conf file. Hope this will help the answer-providers to understand my problem completely.   I'm using MAMP to host my local sites, and VirtualHostX so that I can access sites during local development via a convenient URL like mysite.dev I'm also running Windows XP via VirtualBox, and it would be great to be able to load up any of my local sites within windows while offline as currently often working without access, on the move, unfortunately. I know that I can append my IP and a nice domain name to the host file in C:/WINDOWS/system32/drivers/etc ... and i can find my IP simply through terminal with "ifconfig" while I'm online. The problem is that when I'm not online, there's no IP. Even if there is an IP (when i have a connection), I still have grab it and update the windows hosts' file all the time, since I'm developing from a laptop and have a new IP at the drop of a dime. I found a tutorial where the author is able to get a permanent IP. He uses VMware Fusion as his VMachine, which is the only difference between his setup and mine. By running the terminal command "ifconfig vmnet1" he gets: a secret IP the virtual machine uses to talk to OSX And that doesn't change - which is awesome. I'm assuming it exists even if he's offline. • Why is Safari on my computer rendering all of the colors -- not just for images -- incorrectly?

  I’m not just talking about image color profile issues; every single color that the browser renders is incorrect. It’s like it’s in it’s own color space (or something!). Screenshot: http://drp.ly/DJk1O (Opera, Safari, Chrome, Firefox) Spot the odd one out? Open this up in Photoshop or similar and try using the eyedropper to select the colour. Safari renders the same hex color completely differently. That color is set using a background-color declaration in CSS, so it should be identical in all four of those browsers.
