  • Numerating Comments

    - by John
    The code below prints out all comments for a given "submissionid" in chronological order. How could I numerate these comments? (In other words, how do I print out a "1." next to the oldest comment, a "2." next to the second-oldest comment, etc.?) $submission = mysql_real_escape_string($_GET['submission']); $submissionid = mysql_real_escape_string($_GET['submissionid']); $sqlStr = "SELECT comment.comment, comment.datecommented, login.username FROM comment LEFT JOIN login ON comment.loginid=login.loginid WHERE submissionid=$submissionid ORDER BY comment.datecommented ASC LIMIT 100"; $result = mysql_query($sqlStr); $arr = array(); echo "<table class=\"commentecho\">"; while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { echo '<tr>'; echo '<td class="commentname1">'.stripslashes($row["comment"]).'</td>'; echo '</tr>'; echo '<tr>'; echo '<td class="commentname2"><a href="http://www...com/sandbox/members/index.php?profile='.$row["username"].'">'.$row["username"].'</a>'.date('l, F j, Y &\nb\sp &\nb\sp g:i a &\nb\sp &\nb\sp \N\E\W &\nb\sp \Y\O\R\K &\nb\sp \T\I\M\E', strtotime($row["datecommented"])).'</td>'; echo '</tr>'; } echo "</table>"

  • MySQL field type for a comments field or text area

    - by Derek
    As the title says, I'm after a good field type for a comments field I have in a table. It will store many characters (as users can continuously add to it) so it's definitely over 255. I looked at longtext but wasn't sure...Also how do I change the field type to accept different characters such as apostrophies. Thanks.

  • Inline comments for bash?

    - by Lajos Nagy
    I'd like to be able to comment out a single flag in a one-line command. Bash only seems to have `from # till end-of-line' comments. I'm looking at tricks like: ls -l $([ ] && -F is turned off) -a /etc It's ugly, but better than nothing. Anybody has any better suggestions?

  • Quickly read pgm header with comments in C

    - by Vi
    Quickly write PGM header is fprintf(f, "P5 %d %d 255\n", width, height); Quickly read PGM header is fscanf(f, "P5%d%d%*d\n"); // now can read the data from f, but it fails when the header contains comments (like if saved by GIMP). How to read PGM header in more compatible way (without a lot of code or extra dependencies, I don't want my program to cease being oneliner because of this)?

  • Good comments on changesets in sourcecontrol

    - by Roma
    We need to develop guidelines for writing comments when we register code in version control system (such as TFS). E.g., when we submit a bugfix, we create a comment "Fixed bug #..." We tried to brainstorm on this topic, but most of the ideas bring too little added value. I would appreciate any suggestions for this.

  • Are comments compiled in to C# Silverlight Applications

    - by LarryDev
    Is it safe to store information such as usernames and passwords within comments in your source code? I am not worried about some getting access to my source but I am concerned in regards to someone decompiling my compiled silverlight XAP file. Is anybody 100% sure if the compiler strips off commented code. I would assume it does but I want to be sure. Thanks!

  • Text Editor for comments

    - by Mike Silvis
    I am using the CKEditor for my website along with PHP, and want to allow only <b>, <i>, <a>, and <img> tags. This is easy, however our problem is that a user could essentially add a <b> tag some where and then not close it resulting in all of the comments thereafter and the rest of that page being bolded. How do we check and make sure that whatever tag is opened is now closed?

  • WordPress 'comment is awaiting moderation.' message not appearing when a comment is submitted?

    - by cs
    Everything is pretty standard from WP samples, with minor modifications. But when a comment is submitted, it does not show the "your comment is awaiting moderation" message. The comments.php: <div id="comment-block"> <h4><?php comments_number('No Responses', 'One Response', '% Responses' );?> to &#8220;<?php the_title(); ?>&#8221;</h4> <ul id="commentlist"> <?php wp_list_comments('type=comment&callback=mytheme_comment'); ?> </ul> <?php // this is displayed if there are no comments so far ?> <?php if ('open' == $post->comment_status) : ?> <!-- If comments are open, but there are no comments. --> <?php else : // comments are closed ?> <!-- If comments are closed. --> <p class="nocomments">Comments are closed.</p> <?php endif; ?> <?php if ('open' == $post->comment_status) : ?> <h4>Leave a reply</h4> <div class="cancel-comment-reply"> <small><?php cancel_comment_reply_link(); ?></small> </div> <?php if ( get_option('comment_registration') && !$user_ID ) : ?> <p>You must be <a href="<?php echo get_option('siteurl'); ?>/wp-login.php?redirect_to=<?php echo urlencode(get_permalink()); ?>">logged in</a> to post a comment.</p> <?php else : ?> <form action="<?php echo get_option('siteurl'); ?>/wp-comments-post.php" method="post" id="commentform"> <?php if ( $user_ID ) : ?> <p class="loggedIn">Logged in as <a href="<?php echo get_option('siteurl'); ?>/wp-admin/profile.php"><?php echo $user_identity; ?></a>. <a href="<?php echo wp_logout_url(get_permalink()); ?>" title="Log out of this account">Log out &raquo;</a></p> <?php else : ?> <table width="675" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0"> <tr><td style="padding-right: 20px;"><label for="author">Name <?php if ($req) echo "(required)"; ?></label></td> <td style="padding-right: 20px;"><label for="email">Email <?php if ($req) echo "(required)"; ?></label> <small>(will not be published)</small></td> <td><label for="url">Website <?php if ($req) echo "(required)"; ?></label></td> </tr> <tr><td style="padding-right: 20px;"><input type="text" name="author" id="author" value="<?php echo $comment_author; ?>" class="text" tabindex="1" <?php if ($req) echo "aria-required='true'"; ?> /></td> <td style="padding-right: 20px;"><input type="text" name="email" id="email" value="<?php echo $comment_author_email; ?>" class="text" tabindex="2" <?php if ($req) echo "aria-required='true'"; ?> /></td> <td><input type="text" name="url" id="url" value="<?php echo $comment_author_url; ?>" class="text" tabindex="3" /></td> </tr> </table> <?php endif; ?> <label for="comment">Comment <?php if ($req) echo "(required)"; ?></label><br /> <textarea name="comment" id="comment" rows="10" tabindex="4" class="text"></textarea> <input name="submit" type="image" src="<?php bloginfo('template_directory'); ?>/images/submit_button.png" width="130" height="24" alt="Submit" id="submit" tabindex="5" /> <?php comment_id_fields(); ?> <?php do_action('comment_form', $post->ID); ?> </form> <div class="clear"></div> <?php endif; // If registration required and not logged in ?> </div> <?php endif; // if you delete this the sky will fall on your head ?> And the mytheme_comments function in functions.php function mytheme_comment($comment, $args, $depth) { $GLOBALS['comment'] = $comment; ?> <li <?php comment_class(); ?> id="li-comment-<?php comment_ID() ?>"> <div id="comment-<?php comment_ID(); ?>"> <span class="comment-author vcard"> <?php printf(__('<cite class="fn">%s</cite> <span class="says">says at</span>'), get_comment_author_link()) ?> </span> <?php if ($comment->comment_approved == '0') : ?> <em><?php _e('Your comment is awaiting moderation.') ?></em> <br /> <?php endif; ?> <span class="comment-meta commentmetadata"><a href="<?php echo htmlspecialchars( get_comment_link( $comment->comment_ID ) ) ?>"> <?php printf(__('%2$s, %1$s'), get_comment_date(), get_comment_time()) ?></a><?php edit_comment_link(__('(Edit)'),' ','') ?></span> <?php comment_text() ?> <div class="reply"> <?php comment_reply_link(array_merge( $args, array('depth' => $depth, 'max_depth' => $args['max_depth']))) ?> </div> </div> <?php } ?>

  • Core i7 on linux loses its multithreading capability after suspend

    - by rafak
    On my debian-linux system, with a core i7 920 , each time I resume after the command "pm-suspend" (suspend to RAM), mutlithreading capabilities almost disappear. More specifically, two distinct programs can use 2 distinct cores at full rate, but a single program is limited to only one core (for one instance of a multithreaded program as well as multiple instances of a monothreaded program, e.g. "make -j 4" for gcc). So I end up rebooting the system. Any help appreciated!

  • Can Acrobat 11 be made to do OCR using multiple CPU cores?

    - by tarcman.
    OCR processing takes time. Using multiple CPU cores would speed up processing. Acrobat 10 was not a multithreaded application. How about Acrobat 11? Does 11 by default do OCR using multiple CPU cores (if available)? If not, are there any workarounds, e.g. scripting, to help make Acrobat 11 do OCR using multiple CPU cores? Either through Acrobat's built in scripting language or using external scripts that launch and direct multiple single thread instances of Acrobat to in parallell to parts of the processing job. Note: This question is not too localized (not limited to a specific moment in time) because (1) Adobe does not release new major Acrobat versions very often (Acrobat 10 was released two years ago) and (2) Adobe Acrobat is a widely used application.
