• How to scale an image (in data URI format) in JavaScript (real scaling, not using styling)

  We are capturing a visible tab in a Chrome browser (by using the extensions API chrome.tabs.captureVisibleTab) and receiving a snapshot in the data URI scheme (Base64 encoded string). Is there a JavaScript library that can be used to scale down an image to a certain size? Currently we are styling it via CSS, but have to pay performance penalties as pictures are mostly 100 times bigger than required. Additional concern is also the load on the localStorage we use to save our snapshots. Does anyone know of a way to process this data URI scheme formatted pictures and reduce their size by scaling them down? • GridView styling (CSS classes) disappears

  I'm migrating a large number of stand-alone pages into content pages. Most of this involves little more than copying and pasting a GridView from one page into the new page. However, I find that styling disappears in the new project, i.e. the styles (as classes) are still present in the stylesheet, but these classes are no longer applied to GridView table elements. Example, in the old project, once a table is rendered by the GridView, its header row has a class of HeaderStyle, but in the new project this is lost, without any editing of the GridView. Is there some mysterious, built-in mechanism that automatically applies these attributes to GridView elements that I have somehow disabled?

• Get back the default browser styling for input fields

  I need to style all the input fields but one. So i have set a rule for all the inputs on the site. For the seachfield i need to use the browser default, so i was thinking i could just inherit all the values i have set for the general input fields. (have tried border: none to) This does not work in FF nor Safari :( The border just gets transparent. http://jsfiddle.net/N5KKH/1/ Any idea how i could get the default browser styling back? • Using custom HTML attributes for JavaScript purposes?

  One of my colleagues doesn't like to use HTML classes and ids for javascript/jQuery purpose. Therefore I've seen that he had created custom html attribute such as <div id="myid" class="cssClasses ..." [some-purpose-id]="mycustomId">...</div> I asked him if it was really a good idea and he replied that he considers that classes and Ids should be reserved for styling. Personally, I would have used classes. Some classes would have been used for styling, and some other classes would have been used for programming (jQuery selectors). The idea is to keep things appart also. And of course jQuery could set styling classes but if possible not use them for selection. Of course I also use id when appropriate but since an id is unique on a page, I like to do generic stuff using classes. I would like to know you opinions on the better approach (if there is one).   I have been curious as to which method of CSS styling is quicker (rendering wise) and then from simply a best practices perspective which method makes more sense (pretty subjective I would say?). • warning BC40056: Namespace or type specified in the Imports 'MS.Internal.Xaml.Builtins' doesn't cont

  I have a WPF VB.NET project in Visual Studio 2008. For some reason, Visual Studio thinks that it needs to add an Imports MS.Internal.Xaml.Builtins to every auto-generated XAML partial class (= the nameOfXamlFile.g.vb files), resulting in the following warning: warning BC40056: Namespace or type specified in the Imports 'MS.Internal.Xaml.Builtins' doesn't contain any public member or cannot be found. Make sure the namespace or the type is defined and contains at least one public member. Make sure the imported element name doesn't use any aliases. I can remove the Imports line, but, since this is an auto-generated file, it reappears every time that the project is rebuilt. This warning message is annoying and clutters my error list. Is ther something that can be done about it? Or is it a known bug?

• CSS class not being used on list item with styling

  I have a list item thats styled based on the div container it's in. I want to add a "selected" class to that item, but it's not changing the styling. Firebug doesn't show it inhereting any styles from that css style. You'll see I'm adding class="columnTabSelected" to the first tab, but that's not changing anything. • WPF Binding XAML vs C#

  Hello, I've got a strange problem - binding created through XAML (both ways by markup extension or normal) isn't working(BindingOperations.IsDataBound returns false and in fact there is no Binding object created). When I do literally the same from code everything is working perfectly. One more thing is that the Binding in XAML is created in a DataTemplate - what's funny about that when I use the DataTemplate for the first time it fails, then I fix it from code (add binding to specific objects) and while adding more objects to the collection the binding set in XAML just works. If I try to remove all the objects from the collection and then add a new one the binding fails once again. In reality this is a shortened version of another of my questions. • Postback Removing Styling from Page

  Hi, Currently I've created a ASP.Net page that has a dropdown control with autopostback set to true. I've also added color backgrounds for individual listitems. Whenever an item is selected in the dropdown control the styling is completely removed from all of the list items. How can I prevent this from happening? I need the postback to pull data based on the dropdown item that is selected. I would like to make the background color of items in the ListBox have a gray color if the Done DateTime is != DateTime.MinValue. • Styling related issue in IE8

  I am using a background image to display as a button. The button shows up well in all versions of firefox, chrome, opera etc. However, the image fails to render itself in IE8. Only the image is not being shown, some of the other class styling gets applied such as width, height etc. Even more confounding is that in another page(though a different class and style sheet), an image of similar proportions gets displayed in similar usage. The image format is JPG. I'm copy-pasting the valid style attributes for both cases as shown by firebug below.   Hello, i noticed that the WPF Ribbon is bound to a XAML Usercontrol or window. Lets imagine i have a windws.xaml page with a WPF Ribbon at the top. I want to create an instance such that once i click on one of the WPF Buttons, i am taken to a different XAML UserControl or "page". How do i do this? Will this new page have the WPF Ribbon on the top? thanks
