  • Drupal + LDAP + Automatic

    I've got Drupal 6 setup within a XAMPP test area. I have LDAP authentication, groups and data working against Active Directory. What I want... is since I'm on an intranet where users are logged in via user-names... is for automatic authentication, without the need to login via the website. If it's more difficult than its worth, it's no major hassle, but I'd like to know if it's possible that when my users visit our intranet they auto-magically authenticate with their already logged in Windows session. Ultimately, I may switch to IIS, but I do like having a portable, easy to backup/copy/test setup so for now I'm going to see if I can get this working in XAMPP.

    This code works properly in my localhost. I am using xampp 1.7.3. but when I put it in the live server it shows Possible file upload attack!. 'upload/' is the folder under 'public_html' folder on the server.   • Apache+PHP on Windows Server 2008

    I've installed Apache/2.2 and PHP/5.3 lots of times under Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows Server 2003. The official *.msi installers work fine and configure everything. Now I need to install them into a Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard 64-bit box and I'm facing nothing but problems: There are no official 64 bit binaries for Apache and no binaries at all for PHP (official or third-party). It's alright, I'll do with good 32 bits, but it's kind of surprising. Official documentation is vague, generic and completely unaware of UAC or any recent Windows security feature. The PHP installer is unable to configure mod_php and the Apache installer is unable to configure... well, Apache. After three hours I've finally reached the point where I'm installing everything in the root folder and assigning full control access to all users in all files and directories and all I've got is a PHP-less Apache server that's able to serve static pages. So I guess it's time to stop and think. My question is: Has anyone installed an Apache+PHP production server under Windows Server 2008 in a serious, secure and reliable way and documented the whole process? Or should I just find a bundle like XAMPP and the like that requires no installation? === EDIT === I've installed Xampp Lite 1.7.3 and everything was working in 5 minutes. I'd still like to find some documentation about installing the original packages: XAMPP installs tons of stuff I don't need and offers no tool to enable and disable PHP extensions.

    I've set up XAMPP on a Windows 7 machine, and I want to restrict access to the htdocs folder to only requests from the local machine. C:\Xampp\htdocs is the web root folder. I have the following in my apache/conf/httpd.conf file: <Directory /> Options FollowSymLinks AllowOverride None Order deny,allow Deny from all </Directory> <Directory "C:/Xampp/htdocs"> Options Indexes FollowSymLinks Includes ExecCGI AllowOverride All order deny,allow deny from all allow from 127.0.0.1 allow from localhost </Directory> All my .htaccess files are blank. But when I navigate to the web root folder via a browser, I get the following message: Access forbidden! You don't have permission to access the requested directory. There is either no index document or the directory is read-protected. I tried adding the IP restrictions to the <Directory>...</Directory>, but it made no difference. What am I doing wrong here?

  • How to override PHP configuration when running in CGI mode

    There are some tutorials out there telling me how to override PHP configuration when it is running in CGI mode. But I'm still confused because lots of them assume that the server is running on Linux. While I need to do that also in Windows. My hosting is indeed using Linux but my local development computer is using Windows XP with Xampp 1.7.3. So I need to do that in my local computer first, then I want to change the configuration on hosting server. The PHP in my hosting server is already run as CGI while in my local computer still run as Apache module. At this point, the processes that I understand are: Change PHP to work in CGI mode. I did this by commenting these two line in "httpd-xampp.conf": # LoadFile "C:/xampp/php/php5ts.dll" # LoadModule php5_module modules/php5apache2_2.dll Create "cgi-bin" directory in DocumentRoot. My DocumentRoot is in "D:\www\" (I'm using apache with virtual host). So it is now "D:\www\cgi-bin". Change the default "cgi-bin" directory settings from "C:/xampp/cgi-bin/" to "D:\www\cgi-bin": ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ "D:/www/cgi-bin/" <Directory "D:\www\cgi-bin"> Options MultiViews Indexes SymLinksIfOwnerMatch Includes ExecCGI AllowOverride All Allow from All </Directory> At this point, my PHP is now running as CGI. I checked this with phpinfo(). It tells me that Server API is now CGI/FastCGI. Now I want to override php configuration. I copied 'php.ini' file to "D:\www\cgi-bin" and modify upload_max_filesize setting from 128M to 10M. Create 'php.cgi' file in "D:\www\cgi-bin" and put these code inside the file: #!/bin/sh /usr/local/cpanel/cgi-sys/php5 -c /home/user/public_html/cgi-bin/ That's it. I'm stuck at this point. All of tutorials tell me to create 'php.cgi' file and put shell code inside the file. How to do the 6th step on Windows? I know the next step is to create handler in .htaccess file to load that 'php.cgi'. And also, because I will also need to change PHP configuration on my hosting server (Linux), is the 6th step above right? Some tutorial tells to insert these line instead of above: #!/bin/sh export PHPRC=/site/ini/1 exec /cgi-bin/php5.cgi I'm sorry if my question is not clear.   • Apache internal test servers

    I want to build a test system in the office. On one box I will install XAMPP. I will put a website that I want to test on that box. Now I do not want it connected to the Internet. So my plan is to use a reverse proxy to resolve things like ads and other external links. So I am thinking of using mod_proxy for that. Now my question is, How many boxes do I need? 1 for Xampp, 1 for mod_proxy and 1 for the server where mod proxy redirects them to. Total of three. But maybe I could do it with less. Can I run Mod_proxy on the first box? Is there a better way? Thanks

    I get this error. The procedure entry php_mb_check_encoding_list could not be located in the dynamic link library php_mbstring.dll The error is related to the php.ini settings, I think.. It finds it difficult to locate the extension I suspect, I put an environment path to the php.exe and its extensions folder, but when I run the command line and call php.exe, that error is being thrown. I use windows. I have got this set in my php.ini. ; On windows: extension_dir = "C:\xampp\php\ext" I installed xampp.. the php version is the latest.. Another thing which is weird is when I try to print out: phpinfo..nothing is being printed out <?php echo phpinfo(); ?> nothing comes out?!?! The question is why and how can I prevent it from being thrown..

    I am trying to get a Symfony2 standard distribution to work on my Windows 7 laptop. I have installed Apache2 (version 2.2.22), PHP 5.3.10 and MySQL 5.5.22. I have a demo PHP script (php_info() and a database call), and it works fine. I can get the start page (http://localhost/Symfony/web/config.php) to display, but I cannot get http://localhost/Symfony/web/app_dev.php/ to execute. The error returned is Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): The connection was reset. I can get it to work if I install XAMPP instead, but I don't want to use XAMPP. I want to be able to install and configure the components separately. Why isn't this working? Are there some Apache settings that I am missing?

  • Apache no longer starts at Windows boot up

    I have Apache installed as part of XAMPP - local test server. It is configured as a Windows (XP) Service. Startup type is "Automatic". For a long time now it has always started when Windows boots up, but recently this has stopped happening. I now need to start it manually via the XAMPP Control Panel - at which point it appears to start up perfectly OK. The only recent updates to the machine (that I recall) are Windows Updates - none of which appear to have "known issues" that relate to this. And updates to Google Chrome. Any ideas what could prevent Apache from starting automatically at Windows (XP) boot up? EDIT#1 There are 2 related Errors in my system event log regarding the Service Control Manager: Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for the Apache2.2 service to connect. The Apache2.2 service failed to start due to the following error: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. When I manually start the Apache server after boot up there are 2 "information" events stating that it was "sent a start control" and that it "entered the running state". Although I notice it appears to take 19 seconds between the start control being sent and entering a running state - according to the event log. So, maybe 30 seconds during boot up isn't long enough (anymore) for Apache to start??

    I would like to run two XAMPP apache servers and mysql on one Windows computer. My first idea was to run one under directory XAMPP, the other under XAMPP_B. Why you ask? I have two applications that have to be in the "root" directory of localhost. Both servers do not have to be active at same time, so I don't think I will have any conflicts I will have to modify my.cnf in mySQL httpd.conf, apache_start and maybe other config files as well. Or maybe someone can suggest a better way...

  • Server error 500 when adding .htaccess file in the root folder

    I read a lot of server error 500 questions related to the famous .htaccess file but I have still not found an answer to this error. I have a folder which I used to test the .htaccess file. =>http://localhost/xampp/example/ I copied the .htaccess in the example folder and I get server error 500 my .htaccess file contains this: <IfModule mod_expires.c> ExpiresActive on ExpiresByType image/png "access plus 1 days" </IfModule> I have changed my httpd.conf file: all AllowOverrride None to AllowOverride All i have also uncommented this line: LoadModule expires_module modules/mod_expires.so error.log says: ExpiresActive not allowed here I still get the error 500 What is actually happening? How can I resolve this error? PS: i am running on localhost with XAMPP

    Hi, i am developing a web application in Zend Framework running in apache server (xampp). The site can actually be accessed by http://localhost/sitename . It is present in c:/xampp/htdocs/sitename/ I wanted to create wildcard dns so a specific user can access my webpage like username.localhost.... i will fetch the username as parameter and show the customized settings for him.. Can someone help me with it... Do i have to first assign a servername for my localhost/sitename ? and then think about adding subdomain wildcards ? Please enlight me...
